On the whole I think the app is pretty darn good, but there’s really no reason that it shouldn’t be more reliable… The shortcuts sometimes just don’t work or fail to execute more than they should. otherwise a pretty solid product.
I just had Motorized Roller Shades installed at my house by 3 Day Blinds and I have to say I’m so Impressed with how incredible the Quality and Functionality of these shades are…the Hub is super small and links with this app! My installer set it up for me and showed me how to use it and I have to say it’s beyond amazing! I am setting timers to help me and my daughter wake up in the morning as light wakes her right up! I was able to set the shades that are on my front windows to raise/drop to always keep the appearance that I am home…the Design Consultant said I could raise/lower my shades from any where in the world with a data connection of any kind which blows my mind! I’m in awww and I will never go back to manual shades. Alexa also works with this so being able to tell Alexa to raise and lower my shades when I want is a huge plus! I can not believe technology has advanced this far! Your missing out if you do not get the hub piece which allows this app to connect to your shades! My dad has this as well and absolutely loves the app as well!
Prior to the last update (ver 1.0.9), I really had no problems at all with using the 3 Day Blind App on my iPhone 14. However, since installing that update, I have had a running problem with the App crashing shortly after opening, with VERY rare exception - perhaps only able to use it twice to adjust a blind successfully. I am unable to Report a Problem with the App via the Apple App Store, nor could I find a way to report an App problem on the 3 Day Blind website. So, I sent an email about the continuing App problem to 3 Day Blind Customer Support, but their response was a bit canned and referred me back to the Motorization App webpage Tutorials and FAQs which are not relevant to an actual problem with the App. I had built some control scenes for adjusting blinds during warmer months, but I turn them off when it gets colder and only make manual blind adjustments with a remote or the App. Since installing App ver 1.0.9 I have installed two iOS updates which hasn’t fixed the App crashes, and as a last ditch effort this morning, I deleted the 3 Day Blind App from my phone and reinstalled it from the Apple App Store to no avail - it still crashes shortly after displaying the App page.
This app promises to be a modern integrated solution but it isn’t. It doesn’t integrate with anything. It uses its own pathetic “hub” to generate its own, slow and buggy network, and requires you to use only their own crappy app. The result is that you can’t integrate directly with any major home automation platform, but instead rely on proprietary hardware and software to clumsily create scenes that you might be able to get Siri to handle. Oh and the hub networking is so bad it either won’t work with a modern wifi network or will slow it down so bad you have to unplug it to enjoy it. The remote won’t work without this hub and app either which makes no sense. If they could integrate directly with HomeKit it would be nice. But so far this is incredibly outdated and I see nothing from the company indicating the even care about user experience. They have never updated the app and I don’t believe they ever will.
We were supposed to have a design consultant come over to our house 2 weeks ago and she flaked out twice and finally came on the 3rd go around. We’re also moving into our new home so it’s incredibly stressful as it is. They were supposed to overnight us temporary blinds and still have not received them. Also had to call into customer support because our design consultant has gone dark and won’t respond back. Incredibly rude and unprofessional to ghost a customer. When we finally talked to customer support they said that our order hadn’t been received yet when our blinds are literally supposed to be installed in a few days and have already charged us $1600. I’d be very wary if you’re looking to go through with this company. They give false promises and go dark on you after charging you.
App doesn’t show actual battery life /app integration
There doesn’t seem to be a way to correctly check the status of the blinds batteries via the app or other methods. While the app shows a battery status, it is not reflecting the actual status. After fully charging each of our blinds, the status still shows red or yellow, minutes, hours or days later. Or when it is beeping due to the battery about to die, the status does not show red. Finally, it does not seem to work well with Google or Apple. While it does say it is integrated with the two home software programs, neither is able to open or close the blinds via voice or typing the commands into the app.
Really love the shade we bought. My wife and I bought a motorized shade for our living room. We are not real tech savvy and where worried about the app that operates our shade. After it was installed we are so happy. We can open and close the shade from our phone. We even figured out how to set up the timer to close the shade in the late afternoon to block the direct sun light we get in our window. My wife and I would recommend this system to our friends and family. Thank you for a such a great product.
App worked great at first and loved using all the scenes. All the scenes I set up in the first two weeks still work. But after two weeks, and an additional shade installed, none of the scenes I create now going forward will work. But the old ones still do. It also integrates beautifully with Alexa. You do have to go to Alexa and enable the 3 Day Blinds skill and under devices look for “scenes” then scroll down to “discover scenes” and Alexa will learn them. But right now, no new scenes will work and I’m waiting for help. I wrote developer hoping they’d get back to me.
I’m super happy with how easy this app makes it to program my shades. I set the timer and forget it and when I arrive home after dark, my shades are already down and I have the comfort of knowing no one was able to see in my home while I was gone and yet they were open during the day to let the light in for my plants. Highly recommend this app and 3 day blinds!
It’s been over 3 months since we first ordered our blinds and we still don’t have all of them. In the app, when we try to open all of the blinds in a group on the first page, the slider button doesn’t always work. When you touch it, it takes you to the second page. Frustrating. The whole process of getting our blinds has been VERY frustrating. Can’t recommend your company to anyone.
Our motorized roller shades have seriously changed the game. I love natural light in the house but there’s so many windows and it’s always been a pain to pull up the blinds so I've always left them down. Now, I have my shades programmed to have them all come up in the morning, and then down in the evening for privacy. It is the best of both worlds!!!
My install technicians came and setup my system, I love my new shades! The last home I lived in had remote control, but the remote gets lost or always seems to be across the room. My phone is always in my pocket so I love the convenience. Anyone else considering the hubs, they are worth it, once you get it, you’ll never go back!
It is very difficult to set the blinds on the phone because of the slider function is very sensitive and leaves at the set position as you take your finger off the screen. The layout and navigation menu could use some improvements. And testing!!! The app does not respond 100% to the desire time and open and close positions. Sketchy app. Frustrating to use at times!!!! We had these blinds for about 6 months. The app does need to be improved on!!!
I love my new shades and the automation that comes with it. I used to open all 13 blinds every day wasting time every morning and night. Now I can program them automatically or adjust them as needed just by opening the app or telling Alexa. Loving the app features and the shades
It doesn’t even function. I’ve added my rooms, but they don’t show up in the app. When I try to add again, I receive a message saying I’ve already added that name (which doesn’t show on the screen). When I try to add with a new name, I receive a message that I’ve maximized the number of room I can use-and delete one. It there are none listed for me to delete. Total whack app. AND the handheld remotes aren’t included in the order-$18 extra to get one for a $1000 shade. One or the other people!
Have 2 hubs. Everything worked as it should initially. A few days later one of the hubs wasn’t talking to the app. Now I can’t use the app for half of my shades which means it’s worthless. The timer still works but I can’t manually control the shades with the app. This app is way too new to rely on or use yet. Needs to be beta tested. And I’m not sure what the sliding bar actually does for each shade. Not intuitive enough or user friendly.
I am having the same experience as others. The app simply does not work. It connects but does not show rooms and shades cannot be added. Uninstall/install. Reset. Nothing seems to work. I should have read the reviews - we bought these to have automated blinds for large western exposure windows. BIG disappointment. And with so many problem reports, having a 1.x version of so long means they are not investing in making the software work. Just fancy videos for sales.
They app works probably 80% of the time then there are random times when one window out of five on the same room just won’t mi e and you have to find the remote to operate it. Very sensitive to the touch when trying to use the “heart” icon to open shades; often skips to a different screen requiring extra steps.
We have the roller shades and this product was working great until we needed to repair the remote. Both shades will not reconnect regardless of following the correct steps. Not only will the remote not pair, we can’t manually close the shades from the P1 button. Everything is fully charged and “jogging” but nothing else happens. Extremely disappointed in the tech support that tried to help. They are the worst purchase I’ve made in a long time.
I read the app reviews and cancelled my order. Then the company offered us 50% off to come back and promised to help us with any issues the first year. Installation went fine but only a few months later one is completely broken and it’s been near impossible to reach anyone or get help getting it fixed. Choose any other company-
I love the ability to add “scenes,” where I can set multiple blinds at once. Adding a phrase to Siri worked great at first, but it just completely stopped working after like two days. I’ll say “hey Siri blinds up” and she’ll say “ok, one moment… done!” But my blinds won’t move at all. It when I open the app, the scene still works if I press the play button manually. Super frustrating that such a basic feature is just completely broken.
Our app is somewhat buggy but apart from that I really hope they create a way to have timers built in! For example, creating a set timer so our blinds open at 7am and close at 9pm would be so helpful. Also being able to have widgets for this app on the lock screen and home screen would be great.
Connects to Alexa great. It’s a skill you gotta add then it imports all the scenes from the app. Connecting initially to the hub is sort of tricky. Make sure you have data on your phone turned off
App does not work. Give deceptive displays. It worked for a week or two but then randomly stopped working. Sometimes works when I am home and on 2.4 gh network but stopped working otherwise and when I am not home. Company has not released any new versions in months and does not seem to bother fixing bugs. Wish I knew all this before spending thousands of dollars.
Love the motorized blinds but the app is frustrating. It doesn’t show the actual status of the blinds most of the time. The slider bar is glitchy and it takes a few tries to get it to work. Would like to see an app update to fix these issues.
I set up my blinds and programmed a schedule. Tried to make a few changes and add new schedules but none of the schedules work. I can still open the app and manually open/close blinds but none of the new set time schedules work. Similar to many other people’s reports.
This app is not possible to connect with the 3 day blinds. We had a professional installer try to set it up as arranged by 3 Day Blinds and they gave up. It is not working and I don’t know what to do. This is my first time reviewing an app but I feel like I need to warn others to avoid this app. The blinds themselves are nice and work when controlled by the remote control. They do not work with the app though.
Love how they look and the ease of using them! I programmed them to open and close at the same time daily! I can also tell Alexa or Google to open & close on demand!
The app does not do the one thing it’s supposed to do. No matter what we try the hub will not successfully pair. We’ve had people from 3 Day Blinds out to our home twice now and they haven’t been able to figure it out. And it does not seem like this will ever be resolved. I’d think twice before going with 3 Day Blinds if smart home paired blinds are what you’re looking for.
Love my motorized shades! Easy to setup a schedule with the app so the shades raise and lower on their own each day. And can control while away from home if needed.
This worked well until recently. I have sunrise/sunset scenes set up and they still work but the app has no idea what state the shades are currently in. That was the first problem I noticed but the app would still operate the blinds. After today’s update the app no longer operates the blinds. Please fix this.
The phone app worked for just a week and then one of the 4 blinds was replaced for a better fit. The installer supposedly paired it with my app but it still doesn’t work. If you try to set timers, it doesn’t show you what the slider settings should look like. It always goes back to one slider up one slider down. It’s been a nightmare.
I’ve had 3 day blinds for 2 months. I’m calling tomorrow to tell them to come take them out and refund my money for all 14 windows. The app is crap, the Hub, won’t connect and when you reset it, it erases ALL 14 shades and you have to re-do it all over again. I’m done. I’m calling tomorrow for my money back for them to remove their crappy product.
This is so simple to use and is a game changer. Highly recommend for anyone who wants the convenience of controlling shades in a timer or with their phone.
We have had your blinds and this app for about a year now. They work together less than half of the time. I have tried to contact the company but never get a call back to see what the issue is. Thanks, Natalie
The hub doesn’t connect to the app! I purchased these blinds solely to work with my Google home. After paying over $3,000 for motorized blinds and waiting over a month for them to be installed , the hubs won’t connect. The installer left and gave up and I can’t get anyone to return my calls.
Works when I do it manually, but the timers never work. It is frustrating because the timers were the only reason we got the automatic blinds. If I could exchange or return I would. Blinds themselves are great and install went well.
The app no longer supports wifi connections above 2.4 GHz wifi, i.e., a modern Wifi band. I have an Eero device and even when I force it from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz it simply will not connect. Because the app no longer connects to my hub I now have to use the remote on all of my blinds as opposed to the sunrise/sunset feature.
App worked fine but when one of the motors broke on one of my blinds and needed replacement so I could open my blinds the app no longer works for that one blind. Tried everything but can not even get app to load anymore
Absolutely does not work with xfinity wireless and ATT phones. The app will not sync with window Bluetooth and we can’t control the blonds. Sad because we have four remote blinds and the installers said they couldn’t set up the apps and it’s easy. But it’s not.
Sometimes it does not work. Would be nice to be able to tell the battery life without hitting the button twice. They can do a whole lot more with this app. It’s just average.
