It would be even better if you added keywords check inside of post content (longer text instead of just the post title) and also comments. (Get notified whenever someone makes comment containing a keyword).
I long searched for a way to have as close to possible up to the minute alerts on new postings on certain subs or Reddit. I’ve tried IFTTT. I’ve tried Hooks. I’ve even tried the push notifications from the third-party apps I’ve been using or testing. Alerts for Reddit has surely been the best thing yet for me. Had tested it out for a few days and immediately purchased the premium a while back. And today I get an a update to follow threaded conversations and had absolutely had to write this review. Love this app. Would love such an app for Twitter notifications as it would allow me to use third party twitter clients vs the official app. Would also love a Siri Shortcut or 3D Touch action to quickly add a sub or user to follow. Either way.... 5 stars from me.
I love this app. It’s simple, easy to use, and it does what it says it will do. I use it to monitor buy/sell/trade subreddits and have gotten some awesome deals thanks to these alerts. Now that the latest update added the ability to exclude specific words from your search, I can finally give this a solid five stars. Highly recommend it!
I almost never write reviews but I had to write this one
I didn’t realize just how important this app has become to me (an admitted Reddit junkie) until today when I stopped receiving notifications. Wrote a quick note to the developer and they had the issue sorted super quickly! Support them and buy premium if you can it’s 100% worth it!
I needed something that would alert me immediately when certain new posts appeared and this app works great. It’s highly customizable so you can really make alerts specific to your needs, but also easy to use. Definitely try it out!
I've been using Alerts for Reddit since the beginning of July, and I'm impressed with its functionality and user-friendliness. This app is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to stay updated on their favorite Reddit threads and topics. One thing that stands out is the developer's responsiveness to user feedback and suggestions for new features. Being able to fine-tune alerts based on specific keywords, subreddits, or even users has made staying in the loop effortless. If you're a Reddit enthusiast, Alerts for Reddit is essential. It's clear that the developer (Amanda O’Neal) is committed to delivering a top-notch app.
Just downloaded this app and set it up to alert me when one particular user posts. Then tried to set up alert for a second Reddit user. App would not let me do it. Instead kept giving me a notice that I my limit as a non-premium user is 3 subscriptions. Fine, but I haven’t hit 3 yet. I’m going from one to two. Getting the paid version is very cheap, but I refuse on principle to pay for an app that uses these tactics.
Thanks for this awesome app! But please allow us to change or select from some other icons, maybe ask the community for contributions? I just feel especially for an app always showing up on my phone
I wanted to love this app, however, around 90% of the time, the app will alert me after a minute or two since the post was made. By that time, the item posted will be gone if it is a highly desired item. Occasionally, the app will alert me the second a post was made but not nearly as often as before. It’s almost perfect but it has caused me to miss out on four items recently that I would have normally had no trouble getting.
I love the app, it keeps me up to date and I love ! but why is it when I get a notification and I go to the Reddit post via the notification why would the post be posted two hours ago? the notification and post times don't match up.. note: frequency is on high
This app is perfect for my needs. I follow keywords for several subreddits and the alerts allow me to get to and reply instantly to newly posted and time-sensitive threads nearly every time. There is occasional lag in getting an alert, but it’s super minimal. It’s very simple to use. I love it!
I’ve been using this app for years. It’s one of the only apps I can depend on to reliably deliver notifications for new/hot posts on Reddit. The fact that the notifications also open in whichever Reddit app you choose is a plus! Minimalistic app with a massive amount of functionality.
Your alerts settings are excluded from iCloud backups
This app has a lot of promise, but the app is set up so that your settings are all excluded from iCloud backups. So if you get a new iPhone and you initialize it by restoring your data from your most recent iCloud backup, none of your alerts settings will transfer over. And when you open Alerts for Reddit on your new phone, you’ll see a blank slate. For this reason, this app is a complete nonstarter.
::update:: it seems to be working again! Had been working, but now when I click on “Notification Subscriptions” more than once, it deletes all my previously inputted settings.
The app works great but I often get spammed with the same post's notifications 4-5x which is really annoying. I'm positive it's a bug and not someone posting the same thread 4-5x because all the notifications lead to the same thread. I'll definitely give the app a 5 star if it wasn't for this single bug.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. I get alerts within 10 seconds of postings that match my keywords. Has helped me score deals on items that rapidly sell out of stock. No ads, no extra features, and totally free - would give it 6 stars if I could!
I downloaded this app because of the reviews of others being the best “up to date” or “up to the minute” alerts for certain content on Reddit. Within 48 hours of trial, it’s really disappointing. They alerts would come in, however the original post or comment was posted 2-4 hours ago. So this app really doesn’t give you “up to the minute” alerts as others have stated.
First review i’ve felt compelled to actually write. Did everything it promised. Only had to wait less than 5 min before the notifications I wanted started to roll in, with the exact keywords I wanted. Props to the developer.
I’ve had the app installed for about 24 hours subscribed to “All” posts from r/UbiquitiInStock. Notifications for the app are enabled in my iOS settings. There have been about a dozen posts to the subreddit but this app never notifies me. It’s connected properly because I can see the log of posts inside the app itself. It just doesn’t fire iOS notifications. iOS 15.1.1 on an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
I’ve used this app without issues for years, but recently it’s totally broken. The filters are meaningless and I get notified for every single post. Too frustrating to deal with so I’m uninstalling and finding another solution.
App started off working great, unsure if there’s a limit to the amount of users that can be followed. But I found that many of the people I’ve followed no longer ping for either posts or comments.
Much of this app works, but I'm bothered by two things: 1; very old update, at the time of writing this, 11 months. 2; I wrote two emails, no response, and yet I paid for the subscription.
Great app that alerts you on your favorite subreddits, and supports several Reddit clients—I’m impressed with the speed in which support for Apollo was added.
Loved this app, but since I’ve switched to a 13 Pro and ios15, the settings in the app no longer save. Every time I add a subreddit to follow and exit the app, the savings erase.
Notifications seem to work fairly well for user posts. Restore purchase doesn’t work after transferring to a new iphone. None of the saved users transferred either.
When I reopen the app, the settings I’ve previously added are all gone. I’m getting notifications to world news, which I didn’t subscribe to, and not the feeds I’ve subscribed to. No way to review and modify current list of notifications. This app couldn’t be buggier.
This app is okay but really doesn’t function as it’s intended to. Notifications don’t come in real time. I am also alerted to random posts that don’t contain keywords that I have set.
I love this app, actually helps me check Reddit less.
Perfect for the Apple Watch ⌚️! I love seeing the notifications of all my favorite sub Reddit's on my Apple Watch throughout the day! I wish you could log in to read it through the app so you could quick comment or vote through the notification or on the Apple Watch. A widget would be nice also. Also wish there was another tab in the app showing the history of all of the notifications.
Enjoying the app and all the notification that it pushes to my phone and watch. Very handy and keeps me up to date. However, the in-app purchase for premium came as a surprise. No where in the app does it indicate I needed to make a purchase to get notifications from 4 or more subreddits. I was only notified of the in-app purchase after attempting to add a 4th subreddit. If this were any other app, I would have deleted it from my phone. Also, Frequency Low and High is ambiguous. An explanation on how that works will go a long way. Other than that, this is a great app that keeps me notified on what is happening in the subreddits I follow.
I really love this app - thankful you posted a blurb about it in that askreddit post :) is there any way to stop alerts from happening during certain time periods though? I don't want to put my phone on DND but I don't want these notifications while I'm sleeping. Thanks!
