Crash crash crash then Ads Ads Ads - Horrible

You can’t do anything anymore on this new app without watching an ad. KVUE was my favorite source of local news until the app changed. I’m going to have to switch to KXAN. Their app is still the old format where it was easier to get to everything. With this new app, the “Watch” at the bottom of the app is not intuitive. Then half the time when you click on it, it crashes. And then when it does happen to work, don’t click on anything because you’ll get an ad. As a software developer myself I am appalled at how little planning went into the layout of this app. :-(

Frustrated!!

I love KVUE news, the TV, apps and any other way to watch this news channel. I’m a dedicated 20+ years viewer, as a emergency responder, KVUE is always there to give city employees a chance to explain why things may have problems. The other news outlets in Austin are extremely quick to blame police fire and EMS if were trying to work through a issue. I’m FRUSTRATED with the constant ads and pop ups, I know you have to get funds in the door, do you have a paid version of KVUE news? It’s gotten to many interruptions. I can’t give you a 1 star because I truly feel you guys give a fair and balanced view of the news. I can always watch and know there will be at least 1 positive story. But 2 stars is it, I’m now starting to look for other ways to get local news from some other outlet on my phone, with less ads and shorter commercials (for the web) sorry guys, I’ll stick around to see if anyone replies or can tell me where to go for a add free version.

Thank you for local austin news

I’m grateful that I get updates about current events in Austin. Thank you. I don’t watch the news because it’s repetitive, full of commercials and bloated weather segments. I get my daily weather in 30 seconds on my phone and don’t waste my time. I’m giving 3 stars because of the app. If I get breaking news and go to investigate, I’m met immediately with commercials. If I want to resize or hit pause there are more commercials. Nope, not going to wait. The interface could be clear and streamlined, but it’s not. Give me a chance to scroll to big sections of interest - local news, local events, crime, politics and voting. That type of thing. I’d also appreciate the chance to go by date as well so I can see yesterday’s events. Thanks again for the news. Please evolve the app.

KVUE keep me up to date

I truly enjoy my KVUE app on my phone, it keeps me up to date with all of the important news. When I travel to different cities I still want to know want is going on in my area. The morning team is a joy to wake up too and the evening news has just the right chemistry. I must say the investigative segments are my favorites, we love how they dig deep and even come back with updates for the viewers so we will know the final outcome. So keep up the good work KVUE, you are the BEST NEWS STATION in Austin, Tx! E. West

Please remove ads prior to COVID news

I sent an email earlier this year on this subject but I didn’t receive a response. With regard to COVID-related news, especially at the beginning of this year when we had to stay at home, I felt it was very insensitive of KVUE to run commercial advertisements prior to watching important news reports on the pandemic. Majority of people had to stay at home, lots of folks lost their jobs, couldn’t pay mortgage/rent, car payment, bills, food, etc., and worried about their family and friends. I wanted to learn everything I could about COVID. We relied on KVUE to bring up to date information and y’all did a great job of reporting but for the commercials. It was such a great idea to run commercials about buying a new car. I’m sure the majority of viewers had more important things on their minds than buying a car. I’m sure the car dealership who paid for the spots would’ve understood the reason to not run it just on COVID news. During inclement weather, you don’t cut for commercial breaks on television, so why do you have to online? I guess I’m not understanding your way of thinking.

Decent for news, but topics don’t work and ads are annoying

I like having news alerts pop up for relevant local news. As much as I like it, I will often see an article later that I never got a notification for, but I would have liked to. My biggest two complaints are with ads and the topic notification settings. Every video has a 15+ second ad in front of it (including live videos). Also, if you leave the article and come back to watch the video again, guess what? Another video ad. Super annoying! The topics selection for notifications DOES NOT WORK. I specifically excluded anything sports related because I could care less. And what do I get? “Breaking news! Something something football player is playing for this team!” This is not the end of the world, but I have no confidence that the rest of my notification settings do anything, and the app would be much better if they worked. All that said, a few years ago the app would constantly crash and was pretty useless, so at least it works like it should.

Not news or for Austin

This isn’t a news station or even journalism. It’s just a sounding board for mayor Adler and actively working to rid the city of its established businesses and night life to make room for “Vibrant shopping and dining” Another short sighted tool for the real estate developers. It’s going to be a shame when Austin has lost all of the character that made it a great and different kind of city, and then all of the imported people and businesses will just pack up and head to ruin the next trendy place. And now even worse, the station is actively ignoring shootings and robberies in the city to keep voters from voting yes on prop a. To call these people journalists is a joke. I know conservative narratives are a problem as well, but anyone involved with KVUE should be ashamed and have any degree they have associated with journalism revoked.

Love my weekly morning news

I wake up at 5 o’clock Monday through Friday. I am retired and semi handicap but just to watch that show. I love the people on there but I will tell you something and I hope y’all pass this along that Shane looks so good with a beard growing in he is so dang handsome. I just need to let somebody know that but I love the crew on the morning news. I love the crew and 5 and 6 o’clock news love everybody. I’m so glad you’re a part of Austin thank y’all. But you tell Shane I said he looks pretty darn hot!!!!❤️❤️💕💕💕🌺🌺🌺🌺🕺

KVUE News updates

Thank you for your hard work and continuing to keep Austin in the news. It is important that we are informed of current events. Keep up the good work! But I don’t understand why the ridiculous slogan “Keep Austin Weird “ is even a thing. Our roads are deteriorating causing expensive damages to cars when traveling at the posted speed limit….then BOOM you hit a pot hole. The city needs to stop decorating Austin with atrocious art work and fix the streets.

My Favorite News Channel

I look forward to listening to the news, weather, sports and any important information needed. The news teams are so relatable and tuned in to what is going on in our area. I like the fact you can watch the news get the facts checked as well as laugh with them about things we all do. I could go on and on but for this area KVUE and ALL of the newscasters from am to pm are the best. Thanks y’all

Great app but could use some minor improvements

The videos included at the top of some articles is either not relevant or does not refer to the story at hand. Other than this, in-line scrolling when tweets are displayed can be annoying to deal with as the tweet will take up most of the available space making it a bit of a pain to scroll past. KVUE is my preferred choice for local news and regardless of these minor improvements I continue to recommend their app!

Best Local News App

Yay, KVUE!!! Google had always recommended a different station when I tried to search for local news. It was hard for me to find KVUE news online, until A neighbor told me how to download the KVUE app. The KVUE app and news stories are far superior. Now I can enjoy seeing the local news on my iPhone without annoying pop-ups, out-of date stories, and difficulties navigating from screen to screen.

It’s our favorite news station. We don’t watch any other one! There’s no comparison! We really like all the news teams and how well they work together - and all of their personalities. Our very favorites are the 5P and 6P shows. Those are our very favorites because the times work best for us and the way we live! We live in Fredericksburg and we have lots of family in the Austin area - Cedar Park, Hutto, Buda, Pflugerville, and Leander!

KVUE running in background affecting battery life

Even when I have completely closed out of the app (double clicked home button and swiped the app away) it is showing major battery usage. On battery it says kvue was 1 minute screen and 6 hours background with 26% of my battery usage during those 6 hours. I have shutdown and restarted my iPad but nothing seems to help. I turned off all Background App Refresh but when I look at the system settings under KVUE it still shows the background refresh on, and it won’t let me change it.

Great

It is so nice to be able to get news and weather updates via this app. When we are out of town, we depend on the information in this app , especially the weather. Thank you for making it user friendly and so informative.

Make Notification Topic Settings Work

This is a pretty good app, my main complaint is that the notification topic settings clearly don’t work. I care about actual news, not sports. So the only notifications I have enabled are Politics, Texas Legislature, Vote Texas, and Weather. Do football games fall into any of those categories? No. I even turned off Local News hoping it would stop the score updates. No such luck. Please fix this or apply the appropriate categories to your sports updates so these things actually work.

Like the info, would love a paid version sans ads!

I would actually pay for a version of this app without the ads. Love the news KVUE provides, but the ad images are distracting and make the information really hard to consume. Sometimes the ad images are even on the risqué side which is bizarre for a reputable organization? Anyway, please please consider making your ads either less distracting, screened, or add a paid option so they’re not there at all.

Decent, but videos don’t match articles

It happens a lot - I get a push alert about a news item. I tap it and the article opens up in the app, with a video at the top of the article. I start the video, and 9 times out of 10, the video is about something barely related to the article, from days or weeks old - not really relevant to the just received push notification.

Reliable local news, right when you need it

Local news is essential, especially in todays fast moving world. KVUE doesn’t just report on local news, it creates coverage on local issues that matter. From weather and politics to crime and live music, KVUE has it all !

Crash Into Me... Baaaaaaby.

It keeps crashing on me recently. Now it won’t even load. It was never the smoothest running news app. Also, the actual content could be amped up a bit. Austin is the CAPITAL of Texas. There are a lot of topics to choose from besides the hayseed content that dominates the app.

The worst.

Being forced to watch multiple 30-second ads for a 1-2 minute video is absurd, and at least half the page for each article is devoted to ads. You can get the same news elsewhere 3-4 times in the same amount of time it takes on here. The app is also painfully slow and often stalls out with no easy way to return to an article you were reading. The experience makes it painfully obvious that the goal is to milk you for revenue, as opposed to delivering the news.

KVUE is the first channel I watch for news

I am a native Austinite and every since channel 24 came to Austin it has been my favorite channel. It’s the first one I go to to hear what is happening in our area.

Need To Fix App!

The App be aimed unstable and I want more news in to read or watch in the app. It’s not hard to add to the site and link the chain for news. Your company could do real well in updating stories and say update in title! Other than those small things it’s a great app.

Why is there still ACL 2019 news on the home page?

Seriously? In March 2020? Thought maybe I had not updated but nope that wasn’t it. Seems like pretty stale news for a news app! It’s not like this is a small town with nothing going on...am I the only one who ponders this kind of thing? Can KVUE not afford to hire someone to edit and maintain the news feeds on their home page!?!? Big fan of the news station...just not this app. :(

Why, Developers, Why?

The KVUE app used to be pretty awesome, but lately, either stories don’t update in a timely fashion or the app crashes. Then there’s whatever happened to the allergy report, which I used to depend on to manage my allergies. Gone is the graphic which showed pollen counts, now it’s just a half- hearted typed list that sometimes isn’t even complete. Why? Did y’all give up?

What I can see

I have had KVUE app for many years. I enjoyed it more before the last big update a few years ago. The one that changed how you see the stories. Now I can only see 3 stories on the front page. Whereas before I could see now and old. I normally just use the app for weather now. That is why I give a 3 on the review.

Notifications Are Too Frequent

This app is great if you love sports! It pushes notifications to you about sports all the time! Even if you toggle the settings so that you should ONLY get notifications about the weather! Seriously, I like to know what’s going on in my area but these notifications are way too much.

I have been watching KVUE for 33 years. I appreciate comprehensive coverage and weather staff. The morning show is the best in town! kulpepper is my favorite, i’ve loved watching her grow through the years.

Crash fest!

I have used the kvue (lower case intentional) app for years and it is continually pathetic. I have to open a story multiple times and listen to the adds over and again to get to read the short news blip. I have continued to try because I like the local pollen report and local news but I am done. You should fire the team that is in charge of engineering your app. It has not functioned efficiently in the 5+ years I have used it. Zero ⭐️

It’s the only local station I watch for the news. No other station can compare to the professional, personable, outstanding staff as those at KVUE. Love them all and have since day 1.

Sooo many ads

First time logging in, and I’m immediately met with an eyesore. This “news” app is nearly 50% advertisements which makes it incredibly difficult to navigate and decider what’s actual news content and what’s sponsored advertising. I wouldn’t mind if there were a $4.99 no-advertisements option so I could actually see the news.

Recent Upgrade

The recent upgrade has made this website a little less user friendly. It used to be easy to find specific topics by icons, now it’s a little more complicated. I do enjoy the reports but it would be better if it was more user friendly.

Content good, app not so much

App just randomly freezes and won’t load, and I have to delete and reinstall it at least twice a week. Very frustrating since content is generally good and often important to me.

Always the most up to date info

This is my first stop for news...always. I love how this app keeps me up to date with breaking news as well as Austin related updates. KVUE does an amazing job!!!

I moved and we don’t get KVUE! If there’s one thing I missed and that was watching KVUE every morning and evening! I miss all the news achors,KVUE is just a different news station! Very professional!

Too many ads

Constantly having to scroll past or close ads makes it difficult to focus on the article you're reading. Seems like they'd have enough revenue to run the app from the hundreds of personal injury attorney ads they run on TV.

The app keeps up with the news and can be used to search for topics. I’d like to see other news but COVID and elections are the hot topics.
