Smh. The app is actually more simple than what people are making it out to be unfortunately. All you have to do is enter in your mobile phone number on the app when you get it (rather than your landline number so that the discounts can be applied into the cashiers system on their computer), then it send a specific code to your phone all you do is enter that in and the area code for your specific baldducis. Then boom. Your in the app lol. There’s a specific section for your REWARDS AND DISCOUNTS. If a discount that you want to use isn’t showing then you don’t have it, it was no different from how the old system told the cashiers at the register if someone had a 10% discount or a $10 discount. “Clipping” is a term no different from saying “applying”. Once you’ve clipped the item, you’ve applied it. There a title called “clipped deals” to check what you’ve specifically clip before coming to the registers. Once you come to the cashier you go to member (at the very bottom of the screen) at the top you’ll see a section called rewards. There should be a title called “wallet” click that and it shows a scan code for your member card, that’s what cashiers scan so you don’t have to keep entering in your mobile number on the pin pad people. That’s it and that’s all. That simple it only feels difficult because it’s new and there’s steps to it but that’s what happens when things change. Once you in the app simply clip your deals before coming to the registers THEN have the cashier scan your membership card. That’s what connects your account to the system on the register so your discounts/coupons can be applied to your purchase. I feel bad for those that have had issues with the system it is fairly new still but it’s a learning process !!
After speaking with an Albertson’s customer service rep, it appears someone may have been using the rewards points accumulated under my phone number. There are 2 accounts assigned to my phone number - this should not happen. When I logged in using my number, someone else had entered his name and email into the account, and my points balance was zero - even though customer service confirmed that points accumulated from my prior purchases. This is a terrible customer experience. Please go back to the old rewards system managed by the cashier. Someone at Albertson’s should look into this security bug: look for any phone number with more than one account and investigate. Also check your validation process when adding a phone number to an existing email account. UPDATE June 3, 2023 - App has still not fixed identity / security issues. I can see someone else’s purchases from a different state posting to my account (I assume they can also see mine).
It’s not easy to use. Its confusing. It adds time to check out. I watch the other customers struggle with it. I have not met one person who likes it. I have spoken with other customers at check out who are also frustrated. If there is a savings on a product, it should automatically register. If we get a 10% saving or $10 savings we should just get it. If you have not gotten this feedback, I would suggest a focus group. Ask your checkers, I am sure they know the customers don’t like it. It is frustrating and makes the shopping experience difficult and less enjoyable. You are a luxury grocery store with expensive product. This denigrates the customer experience. Update/Response - I don’t want to contact you again to tell you how to improve the app. I told you on many different platforms and spoke to the associates in the store. It doesn't work well and I provided detail. It appears to be a consensus based on my in-store experience and these reviews. It’s up to you react.
This is the worst shopping app I’ve ever encountered, no lie. I fumble around trying to determine if I'm eligible for savings. It’s difficult to tell on this thing. Many, many times now I’ve discovered (after buying the items, of course)that there were “deals” I was supposed to clip but couldn’t find in the app. I loved Balduccis and used to shop there all the time, several times a week. It had good products, good service and the simple monthly $10 or 10% off reward. Now, I go once a month, if that. Still good products, but the process at checkout with this app is too convoluted. I think the company wants to advertise these so-called savings but doesn’t want to give them to shoppers. Why else would they design something like this? It’s kind of insulting.
This app appears to be merging Safeway account with my Balduccis account so that I will constantly have to toggle to make sure I’m shopping from Balduccis. But the WORST part of all is that it seems purchases from both places are lumped together which, if you’re familiar with both stores and how different they are you know how annoying and frustrating that will be. Shopping at Balduccis results in a list of a bunch of stuff that’s “not available in store”. No duh! Because it’s all from Safeway. Who designed this?? This app is complete trash. But since Balduccis prices have gone up 20% while the food portions at the food bars have gotten smaller, I won’t be shopping there much anyway.
For the past few weeks, none of the weekly deals or coupons appear available on the app. Weekly emails show new coupons, but these coupons are not available in the app. As I can’t «clip » coupons, I can’t access any of these savings. Also, my virtual wallet will not load, so I can’t use it at all at store. I’ve been using app regularly for months and never had a problem. Will not be shopping at Balduccis until this is fixed.
Today the unintelligible user hostile UI cost me $20 because neither I nor the cashier could figure out how to put the porterhouse steak I bought into my cart. And to add insult to injury when I got home I got an email from Balduccis reminding me to put the item into my cart. Wow. The app is rated a 1.6. You would think they’d care (they don’t) - I’ve already avoided Balduccis on several occasions because I don’t want stress when I’m grocery shopping. The developers of this app should be collecting unemployment insurance.
Grade F for user-interface. Not intuitive, no instructions that make sense. The one review from someone who likes the app took pages just to try to explain it. Most apps are self-evident. Not this one. Bring back the keypad with one’s tel. no. for 10% or $10. And fire the app developers.. P.S. Balduchi’s app so frustrating I skipped shopping at Balduchi’s the other day and tried Wegman’s. Great store. Will check out their app.
Cumbersome to use and you end up not getting rewards you used to get. Just talked to a store clerk there and she says all the customers hate it. It makes me less likely to go to Balduccis. I went there yesterday and was reminded why I stopped shopping there because this app is so bad. Just restore the ten percent reward program. The bad reviews this app has been getting should be reason enough.
I don’t see discounts here, which is why I loaded this piece of garbage in the first place. Do I want to buy a bunch of low quality stuff with coupons? Not really. Do I want to play cash register operator, nope I’m paying enough that you can bag my groceries. I come to this store for quality meat and fish and things I can’t find elsewhere. Guess I’m going to have to look harder elsewhere.
You’re forcing the shopper to scroll through the whole app looking for possible deals while standing at the checkout. Wasting time, missing coupons, feeling very frustrated. I miss the old way ($10 off or 10% off) and have started going elsewhere for better deals since these are so hard to find on the app
It is clear based on my experience and the other reviews over the past year that they maintain a non-functional app so that they can say they offer discounts without actually allowing users to access them. Skip the pretense and just charge what you charge.
Highly unusable site. Poorly designed and not user friendly. It seems that they are trying to keep customers from getting the monthly discounts they have become accustomed to. Original in store system was easy and they should have kept it.
Horrible App - clearly they don’t want to give you any bargains
This app/program’s any goal is to make is for balducci’s to say they have a reward program but make t so tedious and difficult to use that very few people will. I have been going to Balduccis for many years but this app and Roger am is so bogus, I switch to Giant
If for whatever reason the Safeway app redirects you here just give up. It doesn’t work properly and will honestly give you a trying to solve the issue. Just delete both apps for the time sake and maybe the Safeway app will be fixed a couple weeks later.
This is the worst app on my phone. I feel bad for the check-out staff who have to help everyone use it. It takes two or three times longer to check out of the store. It seems the developers did no user testing before launch. Throw it out and try again.
App really needs attention if I have to use it now. Before I would just used my phone number in the payment terminal but somehow you even screwed that up now. App devs should be embarrassed. It’s like back in the days of coupon cutting and even CVS and it’s numerous screens does it better.
I truly hate this app so much I may stop shopping at Balduccis. I loved the old rewards programs. This is clunky and adds work to my shopping. it makes shopping even more of a chore than it already is, which nobody wants.
This has to be one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. Clunky, annoying- it’s just shopping for god’s sake, why did they have to complicate things? I’m done. I’ll take a Maalox and go to WholeFoods instead. Way to go Balducci’s genius marketing team!!!
This app is insufferable. Rarely works, impossible to navigate. Why does it require employees to touch my phone? I’m sure they don’t want my germs just as I don’t want theirs.
I cannot make head or tail of this app. It keeps pushing info about Safeway to me. I downloaded it because Balducci’s requires this for its rewards program, but this is so messed up.
I used to be able to enter my registered phone number at Balduccis for frequent shopper discounts. Very easy. But now I have to use this terrible app - I can only see Safeway - not Balduccis (My nearest Balduccis is not in my zip code!). Unusable app. Show me the nearest Balduccis store - Jeeze!
