Four out of five times I open the app it says it cannot connect to the internet, but everything else on my phone is connected. Also, not an app problem but I have dropped off once and only two of the three bags I dropped off over a week ago have registered and the other two were seriously undercounted. Customer service when I called has been great, but I wish this were more a more reliable and efficient service since I have to pay for bags, etc.
It doesn’t work when you need it to work. Unable to check balance, because for no reason, they expire your password, so you can’t log in, and they want to force you to change it. Makes it useless. My online banking apps doesn’t even require this. Not worth it, uninstalling. Maybe they will come up with a usable app in the future. UPDATE: go to their website, edit your account to send notifications, and this app is no longer needed!
As far as I can tell, the only thing you can do with this app is update your address and pull up a barcode to scan, which you can do just as easily with the physical card. There's nothing in this app that users want - like cash out your money instead of having to do this at the hobo kiosks. Apple honestly should remove this app because it functionally does nothing useful. I'm sure some contractor made a killing making this though.
I’ve been to several stores, Market of Choice and several Fred Meyers and MoC said they only accept 20. Fred Meyer said Bottle Drop stops their machines from working when they’re overloaded. I tried many times to get stickers/barcodes to put on my recycling bags but was never able to get any. I have no positive things to say about this program and the app is useless.
I downloaded the app specifically for the option to transfer funds to a bank account, Venmo, PayPal, etc., after my cash was stolen from the machine at the drop location. I was never able to get my bank account set up so I set up Venmo and then PayPal. The transfer button is entirely non-functioning. The only button that works is the one so that I can see the terms and fees.
The use balance option is missing from the app. There was no notice of the removal of this feature so this does not seen intentional bit more of a bug. Looks like this has been an issue since earlier this year. When will it be addressed?
I’ve had this app a couple years. I’m constantly having to re-enter my user name & password. Even though I have facial recognition activated. Keeps a tally of your money though. That’s why it gets one star. I really think we should be able to rate zero stars though.
Scanning feature doesn't work on bags. Tried reinstalling multiple times. And multiple bags. The system doesn't work if you can't scan the bags to drop your items off
I have filled up all the info required and it showed they cannot approve my registration at the end which have wasted my time and my personal information.
It will not let me login. Keeps saying “login failed unexpectedly, please try again. If you continue to see this error, please contact customer support”. This is very irritating.
Please spend money on developers to fix and redesign this app.
App is in serious need of a total redesign and Lille architecture. Come on the last time it was updated was “a year ago” says it right on the App Store listing. Really?? That was like 6 updates air and a major update to iOS 13. Constantly getting an error about not being connected to WiFi. Force closing the app fixes it until next time. When using the location feature the app never asks for location access because it dose not support GPS so you must enter in a location and try and figure out what one is really close.
When trying to transfer money to your bank or Venmo the “transfer funds” button is under the “rules and info about transfers” button. So when you try to click transfer it just opens the fine print. It could just be my phone but I have deleted and redownloaded the app a few times and nothing fixes this bug. So annoying.
Initially, I thought this app was very easy to use. However, when I set up an account to transfer my BottleDrop funds to, I was unable to because the button that links to the terms and limits rest on top of the transfer button. So you can’t transfer anything because the transfer button is blocked by the terms and limits button so if you click on it, you just get taken to a webpage about the terms and limit, very frustrating.
It’s up to you to track the amount deposited and location where it was made. Knowing your previous amount is crucial. Let BottleDrop know when there’s a mistake on your account. Food for thought, I always write the SQ # on my bag(s) and how much it weighs, location dropped off and date. Also, take a picture before depositing the bags.
This app works fine for finding Bottle Drop locations, viewing your balance, and tracking if/when your bags were counted. Unfortunately that’s all it’s good for. You won’t find the amount of your return for each bag, or your transaction history. The same is true for their Google Play app. The omission of this basic information is baffling, as transparency is necessary to maintain trust and integrity.
Generally more trouble than it’s worth. Half the time I can’t get it to pull my account up while using the phones data and can only access over WiFi. Not helpful when you’re standing at the stop off trying to scan your UPC to get the door to open. The last 3 days I’ve tried to drop off full bags and my UPC won’t open the door, rendering this app completely useless.
This is an awesome idea but have had issues with not receiving my amount and bags go missing. If this is supposed to be handled by paid employees then i would expect to not have to keep track of numbers and what not. Mainly drop at sandy fred meyer location. 4 bags have not been credited. So its a nice idea but also has flaws and frustrations.
The app is better than it was in the past but still not good. It constantly logs you out. Which means: You will be standing somewhere with no wifi trying to remember a login and password that you only use every couple of months with impatient people breathing down your neck. If you thrive in that sort of scenario, cool. The rest of us hate it.
This new update fixes a lot of problems that I had with the amps and makes it more streamlined and more up-to-date with technology I guess I really enjoy the new look
We love the idea of bottle drop and it’s services. However the app needs work. First your should be able to order bags and labels on the app. Second, half the time I try and access the app it says I don’t have a connection, but I do. And third, provide more news and info about ever thing that is going on with the lines and services. Make the app more useful.
You all need to check out the new version of the app. Way better then the old app. The updated UI now shows all the info you need. No more having to go the web site to get the info you need.
The app constantly logs you out. It’s now not recognising my user name or email - even though I’m still getting emails to that account from BottleDrop when I try to get a link to log in again. I’m stuck and can’t use my balance.
I too have been having connectivity issues, to the point that I’ve had to delete the app and reinstall it just to make it work. Now that doesn’t work, so I just deleted the app for good saved the website login page to my Home Screen. Not as convenient because I have to log in every time, but at least it works.... and keeps me from throwing my phone against the wall!
Overall the idea of this app, is great. Simple, updating when bags are counted, shows your account. My biggest complaint, is the fact, I have to delete the app, than reinstall the app, and sign-in just to see my account....every time. Because it loses the connection, and there’s no way to reconnect inside via app itself. I hope they take notice and get this hiccup fixed.
I was told by store managers and customer service reps that this program was State run. Not True. The State of Oregon approved the plan. The organization that runs the program is setup by Fred Myer and The Distributers of alcohol etc.. They’re intentions are not to reclaim bottles and cans but to make money at it and potentially inhibit recycling all together. I purchased my the special bags in advance gave up my personal information including phone number to get bag-tags and be able to be rewarded for my efforts by getting my money back. Not Possible! I put in $4.60 only to get $2.00 back. This Program is not worth my time or effort. They Win!
I have been shorted on 2 separate occasions to almost $25. If you complain to them then things go from bad to worse. I am still missing 4 bags I turned in and they don’t know a thing. This is nothing but another tax in Oregon. You pay for the bags $2.00 and .40 for every bag you turn in.
The only options available are to activate your account. When I fill out the form it tells me that the account has already been activated. I can’t do anything else with the app. I’ve been trying to get a hold of tech support for a month now with no response. It’s ridiculous! Horrible app. Horrible support.
It would be nice if I could quickly check the amount but instead most of the time I get the error message saying “can’t connect to the internet” when everything else oh perfectly fine. Seriously, fix it.
The app is a great future for this service. I hope someone can upgrade the glitches because it won’t even allow access past the first page due to no internet connection which is in accurate. It has potential but needs the glitches fixed for the app to properly function.
The app doesn’t work properly. It shows no bag history. And there is no barcode to scan to use at a kiosk. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and the same thing. No barcode at all like the pictures in the app shows there is supposed to be. Always it always shows no connection.
The app was very useful when it worked I could check locations and balances. However since the IOS current update it says it can’t connect to WiFi or Internet which renders useless outside of finding a location.
This app never works! Every single time I go to use it, even though I am connected, it says Unable to connect to the internet. I have to delete the app and then re-download and it works fine. But as soon as I close the app then try to re-open, I get Unable to connect to the internet. So frustrating!!!
As of the iOS update, app no longer recognizes wifi or cellular data connectivity- so you are able to find recycling locations, but you cannot get information about your account, bag history, access the Give function or get notifications about your account. That’s a pretty big fail.
So, I get a that message every time I try to login to check balance. I delete app from iPhone, redown load it and it works for a few days. Then I have to repeat again.
Always says I need an internet connection or cellular service according to the message. Drop off bags and although the actual bottle service is good the app designer totally dropped the ball. Should be able to also buy bags and print tags off the app but you have to go in to use the dirty kiosk for anything you want to do.
Please have someone update this app, it is always saying I am not connected to WiFi when I actually am. The bags that I turn in have been undercounted often. When I call customer service they are always, always polite and helpful.
This app is worthless. Keeps saying I need to connect to the internet or mobile data plan. I am!! It’s been 2 years since it’s been updated. Besides, they don’t credit all the bags you drop off or the bottles and cans in them. Dropped off 5 and only 3 bags were processed. It’s a big rip off!! No star rating.
I'm constantly NOT able to log on to my account, weather on the app on the website. Constantly telling me my user name and password and email are not associated with an account. Yet, they are and when I contact for help, I get nothing.
Website lets you sign up for a virtual card and says it will show up on the app. It has not shown up! So need to grab my face mask to get to a kiosk to get a card and tags. I am okay if a service does not have an app but don’t have an app that does not do what you say it will do. Thanks for wasting my time!
Cool concept in general but the app alwaysssss logs me out and it doesn't email me a temp password so I can't drop off my bags unless someone happens to be there that can open the door
BottleDrop is the easiest way to return Oregon deposit containers and get your refund. With the app, you can access your account card, view your account balance and bag history, update your information, receive account notifications, and find locations.
