This app is the most amazing app of all time. Easy to navigate, easy to purchase items. Need to check on something? Just use the search bar, need to reorder something? Boom done in under 30seconds. You can turn on notifications and get alerted a few times a day about sales or miscellaneous items in your cart. Or you can turn them off and pick up where you left off when you have the time. Doesn’t matter if you are a shop-o-holic or a window shopper this app has something for you! Sales section, bargain cave, and even access to the newest products all fit inside this app.
It took me 4 tries to make a purchase using a gift card. Try 1- logged in, inputted the gift cards, zero balance owed (gift cards were sufficient to cover the whole transaction), it wouldn’t allow the transaction to proceed and demanded I input a credit card (CC).. ok... don’t know why when nothing is owed, exit, start over. Try 2- assuming there was some glitch, repeated steps in try 1, same result. Exit. Start over. Try 3- inputted CC, indicated I did not want CC # saved, reinputted the gift cards, the app again demanded I input a credit card... what?! I just did this! Exit. Start over. Try 4- inputted CC, selected save, reinputted the gift cards, transaction processed. Problems for you- - I’d guess your transaction abandonment rate is incredibly high. - I can also tell you the majority of my family members would not have the patience to go through all that, nor to comprehend that it could be that terrible. - What about folks with no credit or debit card (the unbanked)? Consumers might mistakenly think they can give a gift card to them... a terrible idea if they expect to use it online. I like Cabelas, overall, which was I’ve been so specific in my review with the hope someone competent will read it and fix the problem, or that someone might read it and get their transaction processed with less grief. This was the worst checkout experience I’ve had in years and I do a lot of online shopping. Good luck!
So it appears the worst of the bass pro app has become the Cabelas app. Why issue promotions and discounts when you app can’t handle the discounts properly. I end up having to call in to customer service to place the order because the app can’t properly calculate discounts. I had a good wish list of items I used to buy frequently this way it was easier to reorder and I also used it for things I had in mind for future purchase by myself or others if they needed gift ideada for me. My list is gone. I don’t see the ability to add things to the wish list....one of my biggest grips about the bass pro list. And now. My points are wrong. Way too low. #2 on my bass pro app gripe list. And my purchase history is gone. So far I’m not a fan but at least it now saves your user name and pass word and doesn’t make you log in on every change of screen. Not sure I’ll continue to use this app. Very disappointed.
I’ve bought a lot of stuff from Cabela’s over the years, but am new to the app. I received a gift card, so to use it I figured I’d finally download the app given it is 2023. The app can be slow to respond, so it was a bit frustrating to browse. After choosing the items I wanted and adding them to my cart, it took almost 20 minutes to get it to accept my gift card. I checked, double-checked, triple-checked both the card number and PIN, but the card was rejected after re-entering multiple times. I had my wife try a couple times with no luck. Finally, the gift card was accepted and I was able to place my order. A bit puzzling why it too so many attempts, so it must be a glitch with the app.
Both my wife and I deal with extremely stressful situations in the world we live in today. Mine is mostly in the hospital where I work and my wife is during management of our home and kids. I could not do my job without my wife, neither could my wife do her job without me. Cabela’s has become one of our go to places to outfit ourselves for life outside and get ready to go off grid. The Cabela’s Club membership, veterans discount, and quality equipment give us peace of mind under the Father in Heaven as we either shop in store or order online.😇
The search filters are nearly useless, not allowing selections such as brand, color, etc. When scrolling through search results, and tapping to add more results, it randomly repeats the last results- then continues to give the last results each time tapping to add more. Would suggest the developers add some testing before releasing the app... this is all basic functionality. Shouldn’t be that hard...
I really enjoy the app. I have a cabelas credit card so it combines well with obtaining Cabela bucks through purchases and then using them via the app. The UI can be a bit clunky with saving things for later. Not a true critique of the app alone but the firearm purchases only going through Cabela shops and not being able to transfer to another FFL is frustrating at times. Does not make it worth buying firearms through cabelas but everything else can be shipped to a address and not be picked up at the store.
I received a sling for my shotgun last Christmas, the barrel swivel failed and broke. I called Cabela’s and was told by a woman they would replace it since it was less than 1 year. I drove 45 minutes out of my way only to be told by the man at the customer service department that they would not replace it. He said no refunds after 90 days, I pointed out that it was defective. He still said no refund. I told him I was not looking for a refund just a replacement. He said he could not help. At that point I was disgusted with this situation and told him that he could just throw it away. Has cabela’s stopped caring? I’ll probably be canceling my credit card and start going to Scheel’s. I’ve been a loyal customer since they moved to Rogers Minnesota
Happy customers must be used to bass pro not Cabelas
I assume that anyone who thinks this app is worth 5 stars has either been paid for review or maybe they are just used to the same bass pro garbage they have been dealing with for years. Just in true bass pro shops fashion they are slowly destroying everything that used to good about Cabelas and replacing it with inferior quality. App is slow this is the second time they had taken away access to points and existing shopping carts and wish lists. Why they created an entirely new app we may never know. I guess they have a lot of money to spend but still can’t figure out how to do anything right. I just hope and pray that outdoor sporting companies can find a way to keep growing and taking sales away from bass pro.
The app(and website) shows a product is available to purchase and will place it in the shopping cart. But when go to check out it lets you go through the steps of entering your purchase information then puts up a message that the product is not available for sale. Why allow placing things into the shopping cart and letting one go through the preliminary steps of checking out only to say the product is not available for purchase? I shop on other sites and they all indicate when something is sold out and/or is on back order, and will not allow it to be placed in the shopping cart. Fix your program to show out of stock goods before reaching checkout.
Felt like it was a bit risky to buy this over leading brand, however now that I’ve had it awhile and smoked nearly everything I could, I can honestly tell people I highly recommend this smoker. It has exceeded my expectations. Coming from my masterbuilt 30. It is much more user friendly and really seem to work better for smoking. Also the app works flawlessly.
Have been shopping there since February and am very impressed with selection and customer service. Been going there weekly and surprised at how much i find that i need each time. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Great return policy for wrong size items. Thanks for being so nice!
App is well organized, and easy to navigate. However, on my iPhone 13, whenever I try to zoom in on an item, it will open a new window, that I cannot close. There is an X icon, at the top left of the screen, but I’m not able to execute the close. Whether I use my finger or a touch pen, I can’t close the window. I then have to force close the app, and then reopen it, in order to get rid of the zoom window.😡 Other than that, all is well.
At first look, this app seemed nice, but once I would click on a specific item, I couldn’t see the large pictures of the item at all. It also seems very glitchy, reloading and making the screen refresh and flicker too often. I was hoping for a much better experience using the app rather than the regular website, but I honestly ended up purchasing from the browser website instead. (Same exact issues with the BassPro app too)
Regardless the name, I have been able to find what I’m looking for. I was worried about wich brands that they drop/keep. And they are not the best place for price, but house brands have been on par with competitors. Hopefully they won’t fallow Walmart in pushing out the quality for price. This is were you end up buying the cheep product more than once, when if you spent the $ for a longer lasting product. You do get what you pay for in the end.
I tried to do some shopping and was redirected to get the updated app. Since I still have an iPhone 6 (which works fine for me) the new Cabela’s app wouldn’t load. The Cabela’s site will no longer open for me. And now I can’t open the Cabela’s site to do my online shopping. They are going to lose a lot more customers unless they come up with apps that will works on the many, many older iPhones that are still working fine. The new app may have more advanced features, but is Cabela’s selling phones or a great selection of outdoor supplies and merchandise. Good luck!!!
This app has so many issues I can’t even begin to cover all of them. Trying to make a purchase online had me ready to throw my phone out the window. Between constant app crashes, no size charts for any items, and error messages like “payment method cannot be added at this time”, and “purchase cannot be processed because out of stock item” without telling me the item. I was ready to say screw it but I had a lot of points built up I wanted to use. The check out process shouldn’t take 4 tries and more time than browsing/shopping. Never again.
For a third time in two months, I have again attempted to place an order. It does not tell you if something is out of stock, or low in stock, until after you have entered all of your information and tried to submit the order. It does not save that information after you go and try to adjust your quantity hoping you get it right this time. No, you’ll have to re-enter everything all over again and hope that maybe you got the right quantity that’s in stock. to say I hate this app would be an understatement. Why even have an app????????
Everything about this app is professional and well done. Smooth & bug free. My only complaint: if I want to know if I can drive down and pick up an item at my local store it isn’t obvious. I can select “available in store”, but it appears that just selects items that are normally stocked vs online only. Not like other shopping apps that have a built in filter for “in stock in store”.
The wish list is gone for some reason, the "club" credit card is being heavily pushed, advanced search options are almost non existent, category options are there but basic, only loads a handful of products at a time. I would switch back to the old app or just use the website but both of them run terribly now... I would add star for the wish list and another after some of those clickbaity credit card adds taken down.
I use this store often. I have had good luck with everything I have gotten from them over the years. The clothing and equipment has held very well and lasted in some cases decades which is amazing because I am in field a lot and it takes a beating.
This has to be the worst e-commerce app out there. It used to be better before Bass Pro started running it. The rewards program still doesn’t link and you can’t filter by “availability”, meaning you have to go into the item and specifically choose the store you want to look at (each time). I also can’t see my purchase history. All intuitive features that most e-commerce apps have are clearly absent from this app. My suggestion- It’s time to find a new app development team and start from scratch.
I like Cabela’s a lot, but this app is about the worst retail app I have seen. Simple filters for items need to be created. See just about any other store that sells clothes and shoes and start with their app. I could not even filter by men’s size 13. No one has time to browse thousands of items. My case I wanted to search for men’s pack boots size 13, and sort by price. These are table stakes to release a retail app for shopping that is useful. For an example of an app with Good filters look at Macy’s.
Searching is limited by lack of data. Cabela’s needs to create more tags for their products because the searching is weak. A perfect example is the word “walkie-talkie”. When you search for this, the results will not include many products because many were only tagged as two-way radios. For the average shopper, these terms are synonyms.
The only information I would like to see is order processing time and delivery status. After the order is placed you have no idea when to expect your order
It would be nice to have a tab for selecting a store location that includes hours of operation and phone number. Need to pick a category, find an item, select in stock only to be informed if the item is out, low or in stock. Change store option only gives the address-no phone number and hours of operation.
When using the app for my 24” Pro Pellet Grill the bottom is cut off. It doesn't allow me to use the change temperature, smoke, and graph. Part of the reason why I bought the Pro Grill, Dissapointed…. I have an IPhone 15 Pro Max. Seems like the app is designed for smaller phones. Also, I connected my Cabelas pellet grill to wifi expecting it to be able to monitor temperatures on the go. I was sadly disappointed, seems that the grill works well within Bluetooth range but is not Wi-Fi-capable.
I really don’t like that if an item is on the cart or the save for later list, you cannot double click again on the item to see the spec, you need to go and search back the item. Other thing is the filters are not the best, other than that is an ok app.
I’ve tried numerous times to give this app a chance, but every time I’m sorely disappointed. And now with all the updates that don’t fix anything, seem to only make it worse, I can’t even buy through the app anymore. I try to go to checkout and the app freezes and the crashes. Dislike everything about this app. It’s not even intuitive to use or convenient to look up stock and products. Worthless crap. 0 stars (but you have to at least leave one to have a review)
It is beyond maddening to attempt to narrow a search to a manageable level and after viewing one item, the app totally loses its mind and forgets what selections you spent time to set. This makes it virtually useless. Older versions of the app worked way better. I cant even sign in as it errors when I enter my email address to reset my password then says there is already an account when I try to create a new app.
Since I live about 50 miles from the closest CABELAS this is me searching and purchasing items much easier and they will be delivered to my home and with the CABELAS club membership has made it even better
First thing you notice is that in landscape mode the app display is only 1/3 of the screen size. That’s not helpful! The second thing I noticed was a poor correlation between the search terms entered and the search results. This is likely no different from the web version, but I didn’t check to see. I see no advantage to using the app over the web version.
I would love to purchase from this app, but it never ever works. Deleting it. There is always a reason I can’t proceed through checkout. Today, I chose my item, filled in all the fields, entered two gift card numbers by hand because the scanning function doesn’t work. It worked balance, $0. But it still required a credit card. Entered that. Then it tells me it can’t proceed unless I delete the gift cards. 1/2 hour of my life wasted.
I’ve had the grill now for a couple of months, and it’s consistently putting smiles on my family’s face. Temperature accuracy is fantastic, and pork ribs’ bite is bone-clean. This grill makes me a better outdoor cook! Thanks, Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops, for teaming up with Camp Chef!
I love shopping at Cabela’s and Bass pro they always have a great assortment of what your looking for you know it will arrive as quickly as possible the web site is easy to use and contacting customer service is a breeze!!!
This app gets stuck with the circle going around and around! I was trying to complete my purchase but had to delete the app to get back to my home page! FIX IT PLEASE!
Like the app but wished it showed shipping information on something ordered. Also why do I constantly have to update the store near me every time I look for something, should default to last one or only store near me, unless I want to look at a different store
I can’t for the life of me figure out why a company as big as cabelas/basspro don’t have an app set up better then this. It is so annoying when I want to buy ammo that you can’t search by caliber. Instead you have to click on each type and see if it comes in the caliber you want (usually it’s back ordered anyway even if it does come in 5.56). It feels like they just through the cheapest piece of garbage together that they could.
I can’t upload this update, I sure it will help some shoppers but what about the users that cannot use the app now. I not going out and buying a new phone.
I love this with the neatest Cabela's over 75 miles from me , having an app handy and I have shopping at my finger tips. I am also a club member so I get all the ads and perks
This app needs an entire rebuild. Laggy, slow and unreliable. Way to many redirects which causes the app to freeze and needs a restart to work. The inventory for a specific store is never correct. Connecting your Club Rewards is complicated and rarely shows an accurate readout. The Worlds Foremost Outfitter needs to hire the Worlds Foremost App Builder.
I shop Cabela’s all the time on my computer and phone, and usually thru a web browser when on my phone. Recently downloaded the app and while app’s navigation is fine, there is no way to view or add things to a wish list. I use the wishlists ALL THE TIME and to not be able to save things for later pretty much defeats the purpose for me; thus, two stars. If this was addressed, 4-5 stars.
I used this with my Cabela’s pellet grill a few times. It was kind of nice. Then they updated the app and I had to login again. This is normally not a big deal, but there is no way to get the @ sign in the email to log in. It’s a new iPad and I don’t have issues logging in on any other app. Waste of space on the iPad now. This bug has been in the app now for a few months.
Can’t write a product review on the app. When trying to load reviews it only shows a few. When you click “load more” it reloads the same reviews. Crashes and closes the app randomly. Product pictures seem to take a long time to load.
Love Cabela’s but considering it’s 2024 one would expect a better user experience. The app works but it’s really clunky and takes some patience which can be frustrating. Received an email that part of my order had shipped but when I check status on the app I get “order details not available at this time”. They can do better
This app is amazing I use it everyday when I’m bored instead of playing a game or something I just go through and look at the guns and bows and knives no negatives.
