Before COVID-19, going to their office in person was like visiting family. This year, I wondered how were we going to overcome this obstacle that the pandemic has created. Ironic that an app to help upload tax documents would be a bit hard to operate thereby making it more difficult for our tax preparer to complete our taxes who needed us to reload documents. The sole reason I downloaded the app was the upload feature. I am sure the upload was unclear on my accountant’s side most in part to operator error. “Stupid user”, says every app-developer of a short lived app. It’s actually a great app to have in the long-run to access documents with loads of real future convenience potential. It lays things out in an orderly fashion. Big props to our long-time accounting firm for embracing the use of a technology focused on my benefit as the client. Maybe the developers could fix the camera feature to slow down the time (or maybe it is to increase the time) allowed to center on a document, and definitely add a better set of cropping and centering features for uploading from a camera. In my case I took several sets of photos before settling on “the best I could get the program to take”. I’m probably spoiled by the camera program on my phone making cropping so simple normally. Otherwise, this app is on to something great. Thanks for this next step in innovation- keep trying. Efforts much appreciated. See you again next tax season.
I was going to my job to scan and send tax documents to my tax preparer, but I decided to view the app first. I am glad I did! I was able to understand the instructions, scan, and upload what was requested within minutes. This saved me travel, gas, and time which I'm always excited about. I look forward to learning about the other features of this app and how it will help me and the preparer make filing taxes less stressful.
Excellent customer service! Very patient dry concise and always looking for ways to get the most out every return! Would not go anywhere else! This Tax service has their very own app and wow what a convenience! Very user friendly and coming soon payment feature to be inserted. And they are available all year round! KC Accounts make sure to ask the right questions and files the right paperwork to ensure you’re getting the proper and right tax refund back. This is my fourth year filing with KC accounts , they must be doing something right I keep coming back!!!
Once I loaded all of my pdf files to a single file folder, it was easy to “select all” files and hit the “open” button to transfer the files into the Canopy iPhone app. Plus, it was super fast, transferring 19 files (14MB of data) in less than a minute. Easy peasy.
This is my first time using this app to communicate with my accountant for my business, it is so easy to upload documents. Whom ever is involved within that account gets notified that one of the other individuals have uploaded a document of some sort! I absolutely love it!!!
The reason I love using this portal is because my husband works shift work and it’s hard sometimes schedule an appointment. With this portal we can do everything on here and we don’t have to worry about him missing a days work to get it all done. It is very convenient.
This app has been super easy to use for my taxes! The camera document scanner works super quickly and make it surprisingly easy to upload a whole stack of tax forms that I had been dreading.

This app was very easy to navigate as I am not the most computer literate. I would recommend for everyone to use ! It was stress free and we all know how stressful preparing taxes can be . This took that anxiety away ! 5 stars !
My accountant switched to Canopy from another program. At first I was like, ugh, something new to learn. But Canopy is much easier and intuitive. And I love the scan document feature!! Very pleased!

The biggest issue I’ve faced with my accountant was setting aside time to meet/share documents. Thanks to Canopy, all of this is as painless as is possible and on top of that, I don’t have the fear or stress of unresolved IRS issues!
I wanted to give this app a chance, but there's no way to get past the email verification screen. I click the verify link in the email, and when i return to the app, it never updates to reflect that i've verified. So after 15 frustrating minutes, I've deleted the app and will stick to the website, which is good enough to get the job done.
I like the portal to save tax information as it comes. It really helps the reviewing process for the tax preparer and I’m thankful they gave me a checklist.
My wife and I love the client portal. It’s the best thing to be implemented by accountants and tax pros. I don’t know how I would survive without the client portal.
There is no way to get support for this app. There isn’t even contact info and when the app crashes, it locks you out. I’m still waiting for anybody to contact me in anyway. You just lose all your info
