Notifications

Started out great. Then the feeder would just go offline and I’d have to unplug then plug it back in. Notifications are driving me insane. I’ll get a low reservoir notification and open the reservoir to see that it’s full, but it’ll ping low through the app literally every 2 minutes. Over and over and over again.

Not Optimized

Our cats wake us up constantly in the morning at 4AM wanting food, so my fiancé and I went to PetSmart and purchased the Catit automatic feeder so we would be able to schedule their food. Well, you’re probably better off buying the cheap analog timer food bowls. The app only supports 2.4 GHZ WIFI, and I am not changing my router settings just to support a freaking cat bowl (which is the only way it works BTW). Also, to set up the food bowl, your router, feeder, and phone all have to be within 1 meter of each other. The setup to get this to work is so ridiculous and probably only works for a select few. There’s not even any buttons on the feeder itself to program it, which I think is super frustrating, considering a smart phone could easily fail. I will NEVER recommend these feeders to ANYONE!!! WASTE OF MONEY. DO NOT BUY, BUY A CHEAPER ONE THAT ISNT APP DEPENDENT

Does the job, but could use improvements

I use the app for the Pixi Smart Feeder (without camera), and it gets the job done as far as setting an automated feeding schedule. You create a single schedule, and then toggle that schedule on or off for the days of the week. However, there’s no ability to set different schedules on different days, nor the ability to skip individual meals if needed. For example, there are times I’ll change it up and feed my cat wet food, but I don’t want to then feed her a second full meal. I guess you could argue that the current scheduling system helps enforce a regular feeding schedule, but I think a little more flexibility would go a long way.

Useless app, had to return the device.

I usually never write reviews as I think they’re normally unnecessary. But I felt like I had to write a review for how awful this app is. It’s September of 2024 as I’m writing this and the fact that this app only supports 2.4ghz internet is beyond me. I bought the smart feeder thinking that it would be great for my 1 year old cat who constantly wakes me up during the night for food. Little did I know was I in for a treat. Nowhere on the box does it have this disclaimer that if you don’t have a 2.4ghz speed on your router you can’t use it. Genuinely how hard is it to update the firmware on the app to support 5g. It’s 2024 and some routers are no longer supporting 2.4ghz speed anymore. Completely useless app. I got my money back for the feeder at least.

It works like it should!

All devices in my home have connected but they can only connect under a 2.4g wifi. What I did was connect my wifi extender and put it close to the devices in repeater mode. Then I selected the devices under the 2.4g wifi in this app and they all connected! Once they are connected to the wifi, you can control the devices from any other internet connection in your cellphone. You can be in a vacation far from home and they will still work from your phone.

No issues but missing opportunities

Not sure about all the Wi-Fi negative reviews as I have a router that does both 2.4 and 5 and it connects and works fine. I feel like there is a missing opportunity with these products and apps though that frustrates me - automation! My cat won’t eat when it auto dispenses unless we bring her to the machine. If you could automate it where the camera senses a cat is near the machine and auto feeds - that would be helpful or at least integrate with Alexa.

Improved Notification Control Please

App is decent but would really like to see improved control over which notifications are sent for each product. For example with the automatic feeder I really do not need a notification every time the feeder dispenses food. I do still want maintenance and low food alerts so the ability to filter the notifications would be great. Right now the only option is to allow the app to send notifications or not applying to all products you have connected.

Don’t buy the cat feeder

My first review ever on the App Store. This App won’t connect after trying 15+ times. Instructions don’t match app behavior. App only goes into AP mode after default mode fails after 3+ minutes of trying. Then, after connecting my phone to the feeder AP (SSID=SmartLife-C3-F1), the app asks for the AP WiFi password (which is blank), but clicking the Next button doesn’t do anything. The feeder’s setup mode then times out quickly and the phone loses its connection to the AP network because it gets turned off!! I’m sure that a better developer could make it work, I’m returning this piece of junk to PetSmart.

Could use improvements to scheduling but otherwise working as expected.

Use the app with the PIXI smart feeder (no camera). Was easy to set up and schedule periodic dry food snacks. But, it does not allow you to set up different schedules for different days. As I primarily manually feed my cats wet food on days that I’m home, I would like to schedule the feeder to give a dry “lunch” on days i work outside of the home. Perhaps this could be added as an option in a future version of the app.

Needs improvement

I’ve been using these feeders for almost over a year and they’re great BUT it needs improvement. They did release a new update however it now doesn’t tell me or notify me when my cats are being served their meals. I also would find it beneficial if we can post pone a meal for a day or time incase we want to adjust not delete and rest for everyday gets annoying after awhile.

Literally unusable

We just got our pixie vision smart feeder, and after we set up our account and got the feeder connected to wifi we can’t do anything else. Literally every time we click on the feeder to get the initial settings set up it just closes the app. We have tried it on two phones, we have tried restarting the phones, we have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app all with no success. Unfortunately, that means we cannot set up a feeding schedule, make it dispense food, or anything else.

Dev Request

So far the app was simple to use and connected easily to my Catit Pixi feeder. [Request] Please add in a date feature. In sense of allowing the Pixi to cycle to a different tray the next day or whatever is inputted. For example, I would like to feed my cats tray 1 and 2 on Monday and for Tuesday tray 3 and 4 and so on. This combined with a select tray for meal and date input would make this a 5 star app. Thank you.

Setup process

The setup process can be a lot better as it never works the 2nd or 3rd time around. AP mode seems to get the job done and half of the hard work is getting the device in AP mode. The water fountain hardware works as intended. I also just purchased the feeder and hoping for the same reliability.

Great in theory but can’t set up

Trying to set up the WiFi, but it wasn’t able to connect. I realized I made a typo in the network name when I went to retry and am not able to edit the text field. The password field is editable but the name field is unresponsive. There’s a refresh button you would think would clear everything, but it doesn’t do anything. I reached out on the website so hopefully the bug gets fixed soon.

Not supported by 5G wifi

You pay a high price for these items but then the app won’t allow you to connect to the device unless you use low speed internet. You have to change your router from 5G to 2g because it doesn’t support 5G. That’s ridiculous! People pay higher for fast internet but to use these devices they have to slow the speed of their internet just to connect to the app? Yeah no thanks.

Crashes when viewing a vision smart feeder

Garbage; first version worked fine, no reason to change it. Catit updated to this basically to show ads but didn’t test anything. Now I cannot use my smart vision feeder as it crashes on open when trying to view it. They wasted a bunch of time on serving ads as opposed adding functionality, like the ability to set a complete schedule for the fountains

Overpriced and disappointing

For $120+ dollars and requiring the app, this feeder should work on a consistent basis. It worked well for 2 weeks and the weekend I actually went away, it didn’t feed at all. The app no longer allows me to change the feeding schedule and I get no low food or meal dispensed notices. For this price I do not recommend this product as it has zero use with no reliable and functioning app.

Truth and privacy issues

Requiring “precise location tracking” to enable WiFi doesn’t feel honest, and doesn’t make me feel comfortable about my privacy with this app.

Work’s brilliantly! Exceeds expectations

Bought it to feed my 10 Koi fish while on vacation, works amazingly well. I wish all my apps were this seamless and operated this smoothly. Well done!

Good so far

Sometimes the app would crash and log me off. Wish this was not the case. One feature I would love is a widget so I am aware of the levels or when the fountain filter should be replaced.

Uninstalled

Absolutely should not need access to my location just to connect devices. Maybe our cats should switch to a less intrusive brand , was about to order two more devices but changed mind instantly! You can connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, you DO NOT need a persons location.

Poor Tech

Ever since the device keeps telling me it needs the firmware updated the entire machine is online and untrustworthy! I’ve tried multiple times to update the firmware in the app and it continues to fail, you guys need to fix this!!

Changing the servings size

Since the last update I cannot change the servings size of scheduled meals. The + and - signs no longer activate. It used to work just fine before, and it also works on my Android device as expected. A new bug, perhaps? Please fix it.

Terrible.

I was so excited when I bought this feeder, only to find out after trying for over an hour that it can’t connect to most normal Wi-Fi. For the cost, it’s a huge disappointment.

Feeder disconnect from wifi to often. I have a mesh system in my house, so everywhere you go the signal is perfect.
