Train arrived just as I arrived. I didn’t have time to buy ticket.
The security agent talked me through downloading the app and was extremely cordial about my indiscretion. I had forgotten my wallet and was running very late to an uptown event at the convention center. I appreciated his method of interaction and I think that’s the best way to approach riders! Two-thumbs-up!
I was able to go from downloading the app to buying a ticket in about a two-block walk, which was a huge win. (One signup annoyance - give me the option to verify via text instead of email.) For the most part, it was easy, intuitive, & seamless. But several other aspects of the app are confusing or frustrating in ways that make me wonder if design & dev teams ever spoke to or shadowed users about what they’re trying to accomplish (apart from purchasing tickets) in the app when it comes to planning or exploring the system, or what kinds of questions they have as they’re using the app. I love that bike routes are part of the route planning options, and I hope to see related functionality grow over time. Overall, the app did what I downloaded it to do - I was able to easily purchase a ticket and see real-time arrival/departure times. But it left me confused or disappointed at a few points along the way.
They really need to have notifications, I understand not having a set time because every stop is different, but literally one time the bus will be 10 minutes late and another time will be 5 minutes early and I just missed the bus twice and may end up missing work because of it. I HATE the bus, I can’t say it enough. I guess I just have to wait 30 minutes regardless. Edited- the bus routes still are never accurate which is understandable. But most of all, 90 percent of the bus drivers I meet are always grumpy and have an attitude with anything that is said, weather it’s me or someone else. The experiences I’ve had with the bus makes me want to pay an extra 10 dollars for an Uber, it’s ALWAYS something with these bus drivers.
Everything with this app is great Until you can’t login due to “Too Many Devices” Even though the account is under your phone number but possibly the app has registered Your device as new device with each login. Causing you to lose your cats passes that were paid for in advance. App needs a feature where you can removed unwanted devices. Or keep wanted devices.
I would give the app 5 stars. But unfortunately they have forgotten about the disabled pass sales. We get discounted trips but they don’t have them available for purchase. I HOPE this is a temporary thing, but I fear it isn’t. I also can’t purchase my STS tickets here either. If you are going to serve the community, please don’t forget about the disabled people too.
This Apps options are very limited, it does not allow you to accurately track the status of the next train or the train schedule. It does not give you important information like related bus stops for transfers. It does not even identify which direction the trains listed are traveling. The only thing is has is the ability to purchase a ticket.
Compared to the old app, this is a much better upgrade. It’s in real time which is awesome, it is set in bus navigation meaning it lets us know what time our bus will arrive at our stops. It is so easy to use and very easy to buy tickets.
I contacted technical support, but I think this app is created and managed by a European software developer. I received no reply. It is probably best that you not create an account. After attempting to do so, I began receiving repeated spam regarding bitcoin and other token currencies. Bus passes can still be purchased using Apple Pay. Keep as much of your personal financial information as private as possible.
The biggest functionality this app lacks is the ability to tell you your bus is just not coming. It will tell you when it’s late, it will tell you when it’s early. If the bus that will be at your stop at 7:30, never even starts it’s route, this app will not tell you. It’ll just indicate that it’s late and then never show up. So frustrating. Is this app better than the old version? Yes. (It was a low bar).
Very convenient app. Easy to use and manage tickets. It would be nice to remember my stations based on my history and recommend alerts to leave / plan travel to catch that train.
Very useful app - ticketing, schedules, and now live tracking of buses. The only thing missing is live tracking of the Gold Line tram. I’ve ridden it several times and it’s never on schedule. It would be nice if we could see it live on the map, the way we can see buses.
It doesn’t allow more than 2 cards in payment methods … I lost both two. Now when I’m trying to add 3rd card it does let me add saying you need to delete one as max card allowed is 2. But there is NO OPTION to Delete payment method … pathetic poorly designed app by developers
For bus 60 the bus stop times at West Blvd & Airport Dr are completely different so I don’t even know if the bus is running or what time I should come. The app says no buses are running at this time and then the bus stop says it’s scheduled to come at a certain time. So I genuinely don’t know which one to believe or trust. I’ve only seen this with this stop but it’s extremely frustrating.
I just wish I had known about the app while I was at the airport on my way into town. This app works great and I love that I didn’t need to figure out how to purchase a card at a ticketing kiosk
I started my morning with a cup of coffee to catch a ride on the train unfortunately my card wasn’t working so they showed me how to make it simpler to pay so that I don’t get a ticket :)
What exactly was wrong with the old app? All of these updates made are aimed at taking money away from you instead of actually helping you. My biggest complaint is putting an expiration date on unused passes. Like what’s the point of that except to ensure CLT gets free money bc you don’t use the pass.
The CATS App is relatively simple and easy to navigate and is user friendly. I am currently completely satisfied with this convenient way to purchase and use C A T S service.
The app was down yesterday and I wasn’t able to get bus tickets. I’m new to town and really didn’t know what else to do besides use the app. That’s why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5.
I had installed the app on my iPhone and my wife’s iPhone. This causes the app to “lock” with a “device limit reached” error message. I could not access my pre-paid tickets. CATS unlocked the app and said they could only do this once. This is nonsense. Please change the policy!
Native of Charlotte but have never used public transportation in Charlotte. Took rail to CLTFC game, and I’ll use LYNX every time I go uptown for any event. App is easy to use.
A good start, but not quite there…app doesn’t retain any profile details after logout/login…home / work address and Face ID settings have to be reset w/every login. Fortunately it does remember payment settings and unused tix.
The old CATS app let you buy passes in advance and use them as needed. For some reason, the new app has passes that expire very quickly. If you’re in a rush, it’s nice to have a stockpile of passes and not worry about issues with cell service, Apple Pay, etc.
I activate my pass by mistake and it expired, there was no option to Stop it, there should be always the OPCION or at least said DO NOT ACTIVATED ONLY LAST TWO HOURS AFTER THAT something….
Buses run late, schedules aren’t accurate, phantom trains don’t show up. It’s the most hopeless excuse for public transit I’ve ever used in my life. A complete and utter joke, and a spit in the face of the lower-class citizens relying on transit for their livelihoods. Would give negative stars if I could.
I purchased tickets in 2020 before Covid and now that I’m back traveling to the office, my tickets have expired and no longer available. Why do they expire?
Accidentally activated a pass that I cannot use in 90 minutes. Pass lost since there appears to be no way to cancel that erroneous activation. FAQ no help.
I’m unable to sign up for a new account or try to reset my password because I never receive the confirmation email. And yes I’ve checked my spam folder.
When getting on the bus to go to school, I’ve noticed if you fit a certain “description” you basically ride for free, kinda unfair and preferential to everybody else. 😡😡👎👎
