Got Field Ops when we switched systems recently & for basic CFS info & very rudimentary searches it’s great. With the most recent couple of updates it has kept the location services on even though I chose “only while using app” & the background refresh has been awful, it stays on all the time & heavily drains my battery. I’m off duty & location sharing off. I have to force quit the app & only open it when I need to see a call. I forgot yesterday afternoon and in the past 24 hrs this app was responsible for 82% of all battery usage! It still has a delay to refresh & pull info from the servers when I open the app so background refresh is pointless & it has never used this much resources before the updates. Unacceptable.
The idea of having your mobile CAD platform on your smartphone is terrific. Being able to run a driver's license or a license plate without having to return to your vehicle or call dispatch over the radio can be an invaluable tool. However, the implementation of this product is subpar. Officers feel a high level of uncertainty and doubt when using the program to take videos, photographs, and most importantly, audio statements from witnesses, suspects, and victims, knowing that the chances of the information not making it to your case are relatively high. It doesn’t help that since CentralSquare purchased Zuercher, the level of customer service and the impressions from the company on whether they care for their customers continues to decline significantly; a common effect when dealing with a monopoly. My advice to everyone if your organization chooses to purchase this product, be sure to use a secondary backup for anything that you can’t regenerate or duplicate, i.e., photos, videos, audio.
The app is definitely getting better from when my agency first got it and I do really enjoying be able to mark my self busy or assign myself to a call when I am not at my CAD but the app still shows call notes out of order, shows units available when they are not even on duty, and the map is horrible. I definitely like the idea and it has gotten a lot better but it still needs improvement
There still are bugs in the system. The company is aware of them and working to address the issue. The company has reached out to some agency’s over the past several months by conducting webinars to get input on some of the issues we are having in the field along with some features we would like to see. Time will tell if they can get all of the bugs worked out. This system is still a better economic value than a complete MDC vehicle system.
This app was created & is updated by someone who clearly doesn’t use the app on a day-to-day basis. It’s made by someone who sits in an office who thinks they know how this app is being used by officers/dispatch. This could be an amazing app, which would be a great selling tool for CentralSquare, if they would reach out to someone to uses the app daily & incorporate those ideas into their software. Field Ops has so much potential but instead, it just barely scrapes the surface of what it could be & do!
For the money that was spent to have the Central Square system anyways then the extra charge for this app... you would think the app would function properly. Good thing I only signed a 1 year contract for this not more.. not impressed at all. Showing old calls that were already cleared as active, unable to view previous calls in history without crashing app. Just a huge waist of time and money.
Not able to view entire crew when clicking on rig ID. Until recently I was able to see all crew members on any rig. Now just able to view the first member listed. It’s like it went from a column to a line. Please fix if possible.
Our county started using this app recently. 4 weeks in and well over 90% of users still can not get on. Hopefully going back to what we had very soon. The desktop version works like versions we had 20 years ago. Don’t waste your time.. it’s not ready!!
Since the upgrade my phone gets locked up on the Home Screen , can no longer get details or respond to the calls! Useless to have! Probably will be discontinuing your service!
Upgraded to this version from tri-tech as directed and now I can’t read the notes. They are superimposed over each other. It makes it almost impossible to read critical public safety traffic. Please fix.
I updated to this app as a trial for my agency. It worked great for the first couple of months. Now, I can’t read call notes because they are all piled up on top of each other (see previous review). In the past week, I haven’t even been able to log in without it giving me an error code. (An Unexpected Error Occurred When Trying To Access Realm./1) Other folks in my agency are having the same problem. The concept of the app is great, it just doesn’t seem ready for the field.
