If I may suggest an improvement, I’d like to be able to toggle from the arpeggios version to the chord version in an easier way. Example: short press gives the default setting, long press gives the other one. And/Or have a setting that plays the arpeggiated chord first, followed by the full chord.
Still teaching myself the circle but this app and another similar app are helping. It is great when the app creators have audio to let you know what it should sound like. If you are using a Circle of 5ths app without audio, you need to get rid of it. I have tried several and settled on just two, both with audio. Goes great with the Guitar Grimoire book series. If I were to ask for something more to set this app apart and be the ONLY Circle of 5th’s app, I would request the inclusion of other scale examples: Dorian, Locrian, Mixolydian, etc.
I can’t believe this is free! I was just browsing for a beatmakers app and this was free so I got it. What a surprise!! I’m very grateful to be able to have access to development by actual musicians who understand the placement of notation in the middle helps my memorization of it.
I like to use this on my iPad with Split View so I can read the tab chords on one side when I need too but I watch the circle of fifths to understand what I’m playing. Really works well with a natural, intuitive user experience.
This app makes music makes learning music by ear so interesting and functional! I know I have rated it before but I keep coming back to it as it’s assisting me with a very difficult composition I just don’t have the time for.
Circle of Fifths is a fantastic tool for teachers, students, & anyone interested in learning music theory. One of the best features in the app is the seamless ability to view the musical scale degrees from multiple forms of notation. One memorable feature is the ability to view the Circle of Fifths in either flat, or sharp notation. With the click of a button you can retrain your ears to be able to recognize chords efficiently. Circle of Fifths is a must have tool for Composers, Music Producers, & Audio Profesionals!
Does everything you need with style. I love that it’s easy to read, plays the chords, has settings to customize everything. Just perfect. Every musician should have this app!
This app presents information in a clear, concise, and , most importantly, usable manner. I really like that it both shows how the chords fit together around the circle and reproduces their sounds.
I turn to this app whenever I’m trying to work out a melody in my head or just to get some inspirado. You can’t manufacture inspirado it has to come from deep in your souls , from a quiettude…Uggggh I swallowed a bug. … Anyway I use this app everyday. I used it to learn about the circle of fifths in the first place. It’s genius the way each morris linked to its corresponding minor and the colors make it simple.
Great color representation of the circle of fifths, with audio. Very helpful for those trying to absorb some music theory, or just figuring out the chords / key of your favorite song.
I love this app for trying chord changes. Now if this app could output midi that would really be fun and make it super easy to test chords through different instruments!
This app is a generally useful reference, but some things are displayed incorrectly. For example, the key of F# is displayed correctly in the key signature as having 6 sharps, but the notes (or rather chords in this case?) on the circle of fifths are F# G#m Bbm B Db D#m E#. That is not the proper way of notating F# and can confuse music students.
Nice working app. I liked the addition of diminished chord giving ability to play all seven diatonic triads. Great way to play around with progressions.
Excellent implementation of the Circle of Fifths theory. Color coding and grouping options are a great visual for helping learn how this theory works. Great job 👍👍
The circle of fifths (Sometimes called circle of fourths) is a great tool for understanding the music theory behind the 12 keys of the chromatic scale. It is useful for visualizing the music notation of the different scales, composing chord progressions/modulations and mixing in key. Features: - Color-coded relationship between the major, minor and diminished keys - Key signature and triad for each key - A sounded chord/arpeggio for each key (With mute/unmute toggle) - Ability to lock the circle to currently selected key - A tappable legend indicating the degree of each key in the currently selected group - Several color schemes - Modern UI following material design guidelines I hope you enjoy using this circle of 5ths app as much I as I enjoyed making it! Have fun! - Josh
