This is review number 3. My two previous reviews are over a year old. The app was updated 8 months ago according to the app store. I am not sure if its because I have not updated my iphone in forever but even when it was the app crashed. I can no longer download pics or videos to my phone, ever since the last update. I can (barely) view them on my phone but they do not download. I am not sure what happened but the feature no longer works. The Defender camera is amazing, pics/vids and audio quality are top notch. The app connects (most times) and allows me to make the needed adjustments in the settings menu, and I can delete vids/pics. The app does crash, I'd say at least once while reviewing data, but oh well. I suppose that asking for some updating to the app would be asking for too much since its now all outdated tech. But in my opinion, why create an app and not update it more often?
Need a better way to establish the initial mobile connection. Currently you need to walk up to the camera, within 20 feet or so, the switch to Wi-Fi and reconnect. I imagine that the help preserve battery life, however is is awkward and inconvenient. Needs a better way to bulk select and transfer photos/videos, currently you have to tap each file, 1 by 1. During file transfer, needs a progress indicator. Very much needs that ability to select active motion detection areas, in order to avoid the false positive photos from trees moving in the wind.
The app is a fantastic tool and very simple to use. Not only this but the app has the ability to control your camera at your fingertips. I have numerous cameras I utilize with this app. I train a multitude of individuals over cell cameras with my career and can assure you this app is the best one amongst other trail camera companies. I have really benefited from the most recent modification and upgrades done with the app as well.
Update to my previous poor review per update to the app approximately 1 week ago. Much improved! So far Bluetooth and WiFi connections work without the previous issues and hassles. During downloads there is now a progress bar so you know what’s happening rather than a pinwheel that makes you wonder if things are progressing ok or not.
This is one of the worst Apps I have ever used. It is difficult to connect to the camera even when you have the camera and device within a few feet. The App crashes regularly! Videos do not always play then the Apps freezes! There has been no support for over two years. Browning needs to do something about this issue. The camera takes great pics and video. It’s all the issues with the App that make this camera useless. This would be a simple fix if they just put the right people on it to make the fixes.
App crashes frequently, Wi-Fi range limited to 20 yards, cannot select multiple items to download, you can delete files and then a minute later they seem to be back? The app has not been updated in two years? It is what it is. However the camera is outstanding in quality and battery life for what it does.
This is a great app it works great except for the fact that whenever I select alot of pictures from playback mode to download the photos onto my phone the app will crash. When deleting photos it works fine if you could fix that, then this app will be perfect
I previously gave this app a one star review. I am updating my review to 3 stars due to the recent update, which did fix some issues, but not all. Having an app in active maintenance counts for a lot. There are still frequent crashes. The one that I experience most often is when deleting photos. The app is still hard to use. Even with all this, now that there has been an update (previously it had not been updated in many years) it provides some hope that the issues might actually be fixed some day.
Switching from Bluetooth to WiFi is very hit or miss. It is not always due to distance. Also, it would be even better if it had some indicator of the remaining battery life of the camera. I have to wait until the camera dies before knowing it is time to replace the batteries.
The app properly connect to Wi-Fi once. Then if you go back a couple hours later and try to connect to Wi-Fi again it consistently fails. The only way I found to do this is to delete the app and re-download it each time I want to connect, which is obviously not ideal. I hope this gets fixed eventually.
Cannot playback pictures. If the bugs in the app are not corrected in 30 days, I will return the product. Bought this model for the WiFi playback feature...I don’t feel like climbing a tree, pulling card, etc. every time I need to check.
PLEASE for the sake of simplicity make a “download all” and a “delete all” feature on the app. Drives me crazy clicking on each individual one. I just one to walk up download all Clear the card And walk out
The most recent update has been a nightmare drops signal ALL the time it takes 10 times longer to finally connect to all my trail cams. Very frustrating considering i need to be in and out of all my hunting areas. Def a step backwards with this new update. Unfortunately now it’s a lot faster to unlock and exchange SD cards.
Wonderful camera, horrible app. App does not work at all with current iOS version. So upsetting. We loved this camera, but now can't access its photos at all using this app.
A bit clunky to connect with iPhone, but does work if there’s no other WiFi or Bluetooth signals available to the phone. Completely dysfunctional with any iPad I’ve attempted to connect. A good idea with poor execution.
Camera is good. App is frustrating and ill conceived. Signal is so weak as to be virtually useless unless standing next to camera. Do not use this if expecting true wireless connectivity.
