Den of Geek US Version
Den of Geek is a very good movies, TV and game news site that has much content for those who are interested in reading about those industries. It is so user specific that it offers two ways of reading content from the site, the US version and the British version. They differ in terms of background layout and sometimes content presented. The US version is also a bit more modern and slicker while the British version is a bit more stodgy yet I find easier to browse. From both versions users can easily navigate from one category to another whether it be movies, TV, games, interviews, Iists, Geeks vs which are weekly penned audience think pieces and more. I say all this about the site to state that a lot of what makes it stand out is missing from the application. Users can't switch between region versions, the news feed presented is limited to the last few days or week so that in combination with no keyword search box leaves no option to go back and read older stories. While the main categories such as movies, TV, games and lists are presented in a side pop up menu to browse by, many of the other categories from the site are missing such as Interviews, Top 25 Underrated Films of, Looking Back On, Crime Classics, and Geeks vs. A lot of these categories have interesting features of their own and to see them missing really dings the app's usefulness. Despite these limitations the app is still has its benefits. Articles contain high quality images and are easy to read with a simple swipe from left to right but even that is questionable with it may being to cumbersome for users used to reading in a top to bottom scroll through manner. Much of what makes the website unique is lost in the translation but enough is left to make a decent replica of it.

Fiddling with comments has ruined this app
Revising my previous review from a 5 to a 2. The changes in the comment system are so bad that sometimes, I can’t even READ the comments. I tried using the links in the app to report problems, and there were none that worked. I tried going to the UK site, since this is the US version of a UK site, and nothing would work there, either. In fact, when I tried to make contact via my browser, the UK site wouldn't load correctly. It has just all gone to crap. Too bad that it is SO hard to interact with, because the articles are still pretty good, even if I do disagree and want to call them out on mistakes, once in a while... Syfy Wire was my go-to sci-fi news source for quite a while, but Den of Geek is cutting into that reading time quite a bit. There are other news sources, but I like coverage that really gets into the details of sci-fi media. Den of Geek is great for the longer pieces that delve deeply into the history and development of genre movies, novels, etc. The other is better for quick looks at new and upcoming genre pieces (and videos, lots of videos). They often overlap, but they rarely look at things exactly the same way. My only other complaint is that Den of Geek doesn’t publish more articles on a daily basis. It’s nice to read thoughtful, well-written articles.

pretty good content, terrible ux
random ads take over the entire screen and the only way to exit out of them is to quit the app and restart. the way content is organized seems nonsensical. some articles are updated on an ongoing basis which makes sense in theory but eventually they render themselves jumbled and useless. i do think the content itself is well-written and they obviously cover quite a lot - but good content can only go so far without an easy, reliable way to consume it. even viewing their site via browser is a nightmare. until they decide to fix these globally-recognized issues, you’re better off sticking with IGN’s app (which isn’t that much better tbh but you can at least view the content with no issues).

Impossible to use
I don’t get why websites do not optimize their sites for mobile viewing. I tried going to the site in safari and it was terrible. It lagged and kept reloading constantly making it impossible to view the articles. I really wanted to read the article though so I decided to download the app figuring that the user experience would be more polished. Nope. It’s broken. You can’t actually click on any articles. Nothing loads. So if you want to read anything from this site you can’t be on mobile. You’d think they would want traffic to their site. Guess not.

Good content, awful performance
I like the content on Den of Geek a lot, but the app is unstable. It frequently closes, freezes or random pages pop up. More often than not, I’ll use there web page instead of the app, which has its on problems when viewing on a phone. They seriously need to look at getting a new developer as these are longstanding issues.

Won't let me click on articles anymore
I used to LOVE DenofGeek app and would use it all the time, but as of last week, it won't let me click on articles. I'll click on the article and it'll try to open the page, but then it just takes me back to the homepage again. Please fix. :(

Fix this
Should be a 5 star app based on content, but it is completely non-functional at this point.

USED to be 5-Star App
I would have given this app 5-stars prior to it breaking completely. As other reviews have stated, it won't let me tap an article anymore! I click it and it just reloads an untappable version of the homepage. I used to love DenOfGeek but it's become a chore (their standard homepage is filled with bugs and ads). FIX YOUR APP, CHAPS!

Can't read articles
This should be a no brainer 5 star review. Den of Geek is a stellar source of genre info. However... If you tap on an article, this app loops you back to the article list. Defeats the purpose. Will update review when fixed.
