I purchased a set of Snorkels for my Vehicle (Kia stinger) that had DD LED’s on the mouths. The platform for the app is good so far, decent functionality. However, the app is confusing when the leds or on or off. In the Home Screen when selecting your product, if the item is on, it would be helpful if the power button was illuminated green, and red when off. Just a small minor detail that could definitely be fixed with a patch. Also, smooth out the color wheel for when the user scrolls around for a different color. It’s a little choppy and grabs colors instead of being a smooth transition. The customization page is also a little bit confusing, definitely could see some more improvements which simplifying the customization of the lights.
I got my Diode Dynamics installed 5 days ago and I have already received countless compliments, the only time I run in to any issues its has to do with the app. Lets start out by saying all of the buttons are tiny, and none have actual outlines so you can see that you’ve clicked something. There is only a display of what the bulbs are doing when on the color wheel screen, and if you’re doing anything else than one steady color, it displays black with 0 brightness so you’re stuck fiddling with the app to get it to match the bulbs & what you want. If your phone is connected to bluetooth or aux & you're playing music, the “Listen” feature disconnects you and plays audio through your phone speakers instead of listening to the sound played over the system and letting the lights respond to that. All of this in combination with it working about 1/2 the time the way you want it the first time you load up the app tells me that Diode Dynamics developed an app that held all of the capabilities of the wonderful product they created, and then proceeded to neglect the app and its many deficits. When you charge each customer $50 extra per BT controller per product it should come with an app with a developer willing to roll out updates based on usage, diagnostics, and feedback.
I installed the DD LED grill kit last night with Bluetooth app controller. I downloaded this app, tested everything out, the led strips and app and everything worked fine. Tonight I installed the Velossa Tech Big Mouth Intake Lit Kit with an additional Diode Dynamics Bluetooth LED controller, aside from the grill kit controller, and upon powering up the 2nd controller along with the controller for the grill kit, the app now no longer recognizes the grill kit controller. It just disappeared from the app, it won’t come back if I refresh the app. I deleted and reinstalled the app numerous times. I disconnected power to both controllers to reset, I disconnected the lit kit power and reconnected grill kit power, it still wouldn’t show the grill kit app. I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. Both controllers have power. Both the grill LED’s and the Lit Kit LED’s both work but only the lit kit controller shows up on the app. Pretty disappointed as the grill kit alone w/ controller cost me over $200 and I can’t even adjust the color, brightness, nothing. The app isn’t even acknowledging the controller is on. Calling the company tmrw and sending an email and hope it’s resolved and I will update when there’s a solution. If everything functioned properly, this would be an awesome kit. The LED’s are super bright and have amazing colors and patterns.
So I got DD lights installed about a year ago. Lights are great but the app needs an update. Constantly disconnects syncing and have to literally pull the fuse to reset every time. Talk about frustrating! On/Off is WAY TOO SMALL, update please!! Other than disconnecting and the on/off button works good and user friendly.
The customization is great for setting up cool patterns. I decided to set up a direct line to the battery but doing so forces you to go into the app every time you turn your car on or off to turn the lights off. It would be great if the lock screen had a power on/off feature to make that easier. Additionally the app seems to constantly desync from the Bluetooth controller and requires unhooking the line from the battery to reset the controller. I would love to see that not be a problem anymore.
My controllers work awesome, some really great built in Lighting effects and the custom lighting affects are a huge plus. I wanted a Bluetooth controller for my vehicle and getting several from a local company that manufacturers the products locally (same town that I live) is a huge plus don’t have to worry about some foreign country money that is here today gone tomorrow. Buy local, buy USA.
Installed a ram air kit in my car and everything worked great…for about an hour. Then the app would no longer connect to my phone. The app opens to a white screen and cannot find the controller. After uninstalling and reinstalling numerous times, resetting network settings, all settings, NOTHING. I had to completely erase my phone and restore it from a previous backup just to have it reconnect. Then, 12 hours later…back to where I was before!! NOTHING WORKS!! I have followed all troubleshooting steps and still nothing. This needs to be addressed asap.
The lights don’t always come up on the app. Only one of my lights are currently showing on the app so i can’t turn off the other one. My demon eye light almost never pops up bluetooth on the app, so i haven’t been able to use it. My other light was working fine but today i turned it on and as i’m getting out to go to a restaurant my light won’t pop up on the bluetooth so i’m stuck outside trying to figure out how to turn my lights off. They look cool but i’m sure another company has more reliable bluetooth.
The app is cool, but the on/off buttons are bad. The individual controller on/off switches are very small and the “all on” and “all off” switch has no indication that it has been pressed. Maybe add push button haptics or a small vibration. Just something to let me know I hit the button. Otherwise the app is good and I’m still learning all the functionality
This really is a great app and easy to use. A few suggestions. Knowing if the lights are “on” or “off” should be more conspicuous (e.g. if on, the power button should light up green). Also, there should be a way to have the lights turn off automatically when you turn the car off, if possible.
Watch app to control the Bluetooth controller would be awesome. Basic on and off and use the crown wheel to change colors with the ability to save one or two colors.
App controls demon eyes and DRL as described. However since the last iPhone update the app doesn’t even load. Just a blank screen. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck.
I have DRLs, Demon eyes and grill lights. And on the Home Screen it’s real hard to tell if lights are on or off what’s the point of a on off button if it doesn’t show in anyway if it’s on or off? Please fix this. This could cause someone to easily run their battery down.
Kindly please update the app software as it’s very buggy! Bluetooth control lags or is not responsive to the color change as you slide the wheel. I have to turn the app off/on in order to get the thing to work. If you really want to satisfy your customers needs please update asap! Thanks
So many issues with app. Followed instructions carefully for installation. Bluetooth light comes on but demon eyes don’t come on. App on iPhone is cheesy need to update to make easier. Radio button are small.
What’s the deal. I can’t get my app to load my lights. After new year. Everything went off. I’ve reinstalled and reinstalled the app. Connect to blu tooth. And nothing. Someone please help
For a lighting system that I have invested about $250 for, this app is extremely outdated. It’s not even updated for an iPhone X screen let alone anything after. I did some research on the Internet and apparently there’s only been two releases for updates and the last being October 31 2019... seriously? Let alone the fact that there hasn’t been an update since then, they didn’t even update the aspect ratio. I have just gotten my lights installed and tested but not mounted on the car, so I’m not sure about connectability. Their hardware is fantastic but their app design and updates is abysmal. Morimoto has a very good app that has good connectability and decent updates. While the physical quality of the product is great, the app is literally the life blood of the products and some thing you have to interact with every time. I would argue that it’s actually more important than the hardware. Please take into consideration doing yearly or biyearly updates. I don’t know when they are going to push a new update, but I sure as hell hope they update the aspect ratio.
I work doing custom car lighting on the side, and I installed these on my vehicle to test before I use this on my clients, I love this app because it is directly from the manufacturer of the product,...So I generally recommend their products to my clients especially if I'm installing, And they also have a YouTube channel to furthermore assist
With this app, you can fully control bluetooth-enabled Diode Dynamics LED Lighting! Use the color wheel to choose from an unlimited array of colors, build custom fade, strobe, and flashing modes, or sync to music. Connect to multiple Diode Dynamics Bluetooth controllers or BT-enabled LED lamps, controlling them individually or grouping together, to achieve your custom look!
