It’ll take some time
Overall it seems like it will work nicely. It is different and so there will be many people who don’t like it just because of that. I appreciate DCECUs effort in trying to make the app better. This app appears to allow you to personalize it more to how you want it. That could not be done with the old app. Regardless of what kind of changes were made, many people wouldn’t like it because it’s not what they are familiar with. Give it some time before give it a bad review just because you don’t know how to use it right away and it’s not as easy as the previous app that you’ve been using for the past decade. Does everyone understand that you can set the display up how you want. If you want to see your auto payments first, you can. If you want to see your accounts first, you can. It is up to you how many swipes or clicks you have to do. This improved app gives you more choices. Is that the problem? Update: it’s just sad that people don’t understand they can do so much more with this version than the previous app. You can customize this app anyway you want and so you can make it pretty close to how the old app was. They could use some work with the check deposit but I’m not going to take a star off because everyone else is taking stars off because they can’t figure out an easy app. There’s a few other things they do need to work on but overall, it’s a 4 star app.

Great Service
I’ve been a member since 1974. While employed in Midland, help with transactions etc was always fantastic. Since moving to North Michigan in 2014 all my transactions have been by phone or using the DCECU APP. Over the last year as we rebuilt our home and needed accessibility to funds being deposited by our insurance company, the process has been seamless. DCECU and all their staff have been extremely helpful. Thanks!

I’m not too sure about this: update -1
I appreciate the effort to try something new. But in this case I feel as if they shouldn’t have changed the straightforward single page app they used to have. Too many clicks and taps to get anywhere, accounts don’t have names when doing transfers. Loans and other items don’t have the due date on them, you have to click on it and scroll to check, it also doesn’t have the payment amount up front. When you make a payment it fills the amount for you. Overall it’s overthought and too crowded. Too many options pages and taps. Frankly I don’t like It and wish we still had the older one. Update: I don’t know how long it’s been now that I’ve had the app, but my opinion has not improved. As a younger person who grew up with tech in my hand, I thought using the app and working with it would make it easier to use. I was wrong. I’m still frustrated and irritated with how difficult even the simplest tasks are. It has a very user unfriendly interface, there’s just too much! All I want to see are my account balances, transfers and due dates, I don’t want to see “similar transactions” and such. Just be simple. I hope they didn’t pay too much to have the app made. I’d be demanding my money back.

A step back
I don’t really see any advantage to this app vs the old one. My biggest complaint is that it doesn’t open to a list of all my accounts. Further it takes more clicks to get anywhere. Finally I can no longer figure out how much interest was paid along with a payment on my home equity loan. The old app broke it down into principal and interest. No longer, so off to my desktop I go. Update: The internet access has been changed to look more like the app and I can no longer find the interest amount for my home equity loan there either. :( Update: On the home equity loan it no longer seems to show the amount available :( And it’s been now over 6 weeks since this was dumped on us and still no improvements despite all the negative reviews. Last official communication from the credit Union is that the “overall response has been positive”. Would be nice to know if anyone’s actually monitoring these comments or if we’re wasting electrons.

The old App was much more user friendly
The older App worked much better for the purpose of mobile banking. This one is much slower, and you have to make absolute sure that you refresh several times, because otherwise it may display an old balance and lead you to believe you have more money in your accounts than you think you do. You can also no longer see all your account balances displayed on the home page, and must instead swipe through accounts individually from left to right. They’ve also added more options on the home screen for transfers and bill paying, but the result is a messier interface.

Not great
Too many accts transactions are listed in one place rather than by account itself (makes it confusing to see money transferred from savings to checking and then listing that it got transferred into checking, and then it left checking for whatever payment it’s covering, money is listed as positive rather than negative when making a payment, annoying to have to scroll through all of your accounts instead of just having them listed. The app itself looks nice, but the functionality is lacking.

Poor App
I was expecting quality from DCECU. Unfortunately, this app is not what it’s cracked up to be. I enjoyed the last app as it was easy to use. Not only is this one hard to use, but I’ve found that it glitches often. I was simply trying to transfer money from one account to another and it told me that something went wrong and wouldn’t transfer the money for me. I live about an hour away from the credit union and relied on the app to deposit my checks and to do my necessary banking but I can’t even transfer money. I find it takes too much time to call the credit union to do my banking either. I think I will have to switch institutions.

2 Factor Authentication Broke Personal Capital
The new app introduced new security features. While it is welcome and encouraging that DCECU is taking security seriously, it broke the connection with third party financial planning apps like Personal Capital. Can the dev team please look into the Personal Capital API requirements and ensure the new system is compatible so that consumers can continue to get a full picture of their financial status? Thank you and it’s encouraging to continue to see improvements being made and I hope that continues while taking feedback from consumers.

Mobile Deposit Broken
Just tried to deposit a check and the app kept crashing when I tried to dismiss the info window for taking a photo of the back of the check. Overall, I agree with previous reviews that this new app (and the new web interface) is a giant step backwards. Account numbers instead of names are used, there is no account summary with a “sum of all accounts” so you know at a glance if you’re above water with your loans yet, and a general lack of information density. I know that’s the new style, but it requires too many clicks and swipes to see it all.

Great app.
We been with DCECU over 9 years. The app is almost as awesome as the customer service their live customer support. I rarely rate apps and have to say if your a member of their credit union and have a smart phone this app is a wonderful extension of their services. Ty DCECU for all have provided, provide and search to continue to provide. Your services are second to none.

Completely awkward
The former version of the online banking was smooth and simple. It did everything this one does but with ease and simplicity. This one is horribly designed and the credit card page (which takes multiple screens to attain) is not phone-friendly. If I had another option, I would take it in a second. This one was forced upon us as the only possibility. I have gotten to the point where I’m comfortable doing my banking with my phone and this was a huge step backwards. I am actually considering switching banks after over 25 years just to find a better interface.

SIMPLY THE BEST!
I have had occasion to interact with many financial institutions over the course of several decades. Over that time I have never encountered a more excellent, professional, customer-focused, services-replete organization. Combine those stellar qualities with their outstanding technology-pallate (Leading Edge without being Bleeding Edge capabilities & features) and the end result is a financial institution that, in my book, is simply the best.

HORRIBLE
Can’t find anything on this app - you have to dig for everything - like I want to see the balance available on my visa - not there - or even just closing the app - just have to click out and hope you’re good. I feel sorry for my 85 year old Dad trying to use this - it’s needlessly complicated.

Can’t get everything to work
Buttons don’t work. There are a lot of new stuff but ok fine you made it swipe and more buttons ok fine but nothing has labels and when I click to see stuff like my credit card or a bill I own on my card I would think it would pop up, but it just stays at zero how am I suppose to use this new upgrade app like the old one. It won’t show me any transactions at all. I can’t pay what I don’t know. And half the buttons I’m finding out take for ever to load. I’m not thrilled with this new set up at all. The old way was much easier

Not as easy
The old app was straightforward and quick by default. The new app requires more swipes/taps, and is not as intuitive. Information used to be more compact. By messing around with settings it got better, but in general still not as good as the old one. Where are account NAMES when making mobile deposits? After making a mobile deposit, it still didn’t even show as pending for a while. The new web page looks very similar and I have some of the same gripes.

Not bad
At the beginning I wasn’t sure about it. But after changing the dashboard to my liking it’s great. It’s not to crowded. It might take a little getting used to like all new things. But so far I like how easy I can get into my account now. Not a bad app.

Customer service problems
Normally I do not leave rather negative reviews, but the customer service chats are not helpful at all. My question needing help has been avoided and redirected to a completely different topic every time I have asked. Only some had been fixed after calling a completely different number.

Steps backward instead of forward
This new app is more difficult to use than it is worth. I cannot easily view my transactions. Once I do get to them I can only see around four at a time. I also do not enjoy having to go through multiple pages to “quickly” check that everything is in order. It makes me feel like it’s done purposely to deter members from watching their things closely in order to steal from us later. Is that how you want members to feel?

Why did we change the format?
I have been using the new app for about a week and when compared to the old version I first find the new one an eye sore. The new version also does not update my purchases and actual available balance when compared to the older version. It is Monday and purchases I made over the weekend still haven't shown up which could cause me to overdraft my account if I wasn’t paying close attention. Also information which was easily and pleasantly displayed concerning purchases you now have to click to access vs being readily available. Dow Chemical Credit Union I hope you didn’t pay much for this new format because you got ripped off and should tell the developer to fix your garbage app. The last version was far superior!!!!

Took a minute to get bearings, but not bad so far.
This new app adds features previously limited to web portal access, which is a nice change. Time will tell how it fares, but so far it’s worked accordingly. It did take a few minutes to get my bearings on the layout, then it was fairly intuitive.

Notifications
I like the App but I don’t like the notifications. My email notifications only tell me the amount and the transaction date. I have to guess what the amount is for. The old software would tell you where the transaction was placed.

Total flop
Something new is not always exciting. I liked the previous app better than this one with two factor authentication (TFA). TFA could be implemented with the older app without making the app worse. Nice try from DCECU. World is moving towards saving number of clicks. This app introduces a multitude of additional steps to reach out to you desired functionality. I bet people will call more and walk in to the bank more than using this app, not sure if that was the end goal of DCECU.

Hate it!
I do not like the new app. Too many clicks and they’ve just made it more complicated than it needs to be. I like to see all of my accounts listed out not have to scroll over. Also transfer funds between accounts with other members and it now requires a share # and we don’t even know what that is. Not happy with it. Wish we could have the old one back.

Bring back credit card available balance!
I like the aesthetics of the new app but I really miss being able to see the available balance of a credit card instead of how much is used. Some improvements could be made.

Old app was much better
I never had any issues with the mobile deposit on the old app but with this new app I have tried multiple times and can’t get it to work. It also seemed like the old app provided more information when looking at the accounts. I used to use the app for everything but now I have to use my computer because this new app is terrible.

Cheaply Made App
I can tell that DCECU didn’t bother paying a tech writer to do user testing before sending the app out. Some things are familiar but the main screen is cluttered and mobile check deposits have you guessing what account you want since the account number shows up without a name. The fact that simple tasks are so botched makes me wonder what else is wrong. Time will tell.

App is too complicated. Lots of Changes that are not explained properly. Too much requirements to find things in the app. Transferring money in and out of the accounts are harder, so instead of wasting time figuring this out, I instead choose to quit using this bank.

Improved?...really?
Why must “improved” have to mean more complicated? The prior format was easy to navigate and understand. This new app is more confusing to use, harder to navigate, and everything is cluttered together. Quite a disappointment considering how hard the “new online & mobile application” was promoted.

It Won’t Download
I used the last app frequently to check my balance and make transfers for bills and etc. for some reason this “new” app won’t even download on my iPhone XR, which is kind of inconvenient since now I have to run to an ATM to constantly check my account balance. I would really like for a new update or for the app to revert back to the original.

Can’t see credit card purchases
They added a bunch of complexity to the app and then removed your ability to see individual credit card purchases, all you see is a total. The most important thing you want to see on a daily basis to prevent fraud and they removed it.

I’ve tried
I really tried to give this app a shot but I still hate it. So much so that I’m navigating away from this as my main bank. It used to be so easy to view my transactions and manage everything thru the old app but now it’s just awkward and my alerts don’t come thru clearly enough to be helpful. I guess sometimes good things come to an end.
