Honestly powerful
I’ve had the app for a few months now and I’ll be honest I don’t completely understand everything about investing yet. however, I do know a little bit more than I did before I started. The app makes you feel less scared about investing which as a 21-year-old was honestly the best part. There’s also great articles that teach you about all sorts of different things that I never would have learned from School or my parents (who both don’t invest). I also find it really cool that you can choose to only invest in female ran companies. Overall, I find this app to be really powerful because I can now say I am investing for my future and tell my friends about it so hopefully more young people will start. Because honestly we need more young powerful females out there

More Data & Education About YOUR Accounts
I love Ellevest and everything it stands for, and as a woman in my late-twenties who had yet to build a dedicated investment account outside of my 401K, I was really excited to branch into investing with Ellevest! The articles and courses for learning are great. I think Ellevest still has a lot of improvements they can make on sharing data, insights and learnings for your accounts. Finding the accounts that my money is invested in and learning more about them isn’t super user-friendly or intuitive and honestly doesn’t make much sense. It would be great if there were articles or an easy way to learn more about what they’ve invested my money in and why. There’s a chart that shows my overall projections based on what I invest each month, but I’d also love to see a chart with my overall account holdings over time and see how it’s risen and grown. I feel like their education offerings are very generic and would appreciate if they could build those features out to be more specific or at least link to education articles that could teach me more when I’m in my account looking at my portfolio. Overall, I really believe in this company and am glad to be supporting it, but I don’t feel like I’m learning as much as I could and don’t have as much visibility and education on my portfolio as I’d like. Hoping that’s in their improvement plans in the coming year!

Horrible shady UX practices
I reallyyyyy wanted to like this app. I downloaded and entered a lot of my personal and contact information because I wanted to see how the app works and how it makes investments with my money. However as part of the onboarding process it asks you to link your bank account info before you can proceed into the app. I’m always very hesitant when it comes to providing that kind of information before I know what I’m getting myself into. So obviously I abandoned the process but now I keep getting spam emails from them that are impossible to unsubscribe from. I’ve tried logging in on the app and on the web browser to edit my email notification settings or just delete my account however it will not let you continue past the onboarding process without providing your bank info !!!!! This is incredibly irritating and an extremely shady UX practice!!! I’ve read in other reviews that once you link your bank info they make it impossible to unsubscribe or get in touch with them and they’ll just keep taking your money. They need to fix these issues before I consider downloading this app again.

Fan of the brand not the app
I love Ellevest as a brand and have followed their newsletters for months before downloading the app and starting an investment account. I am shocked at how buggy the app experience is - 1) logging in was a pain because Face ID and any saved passwords were not working at all; the login boxes remained blank. 2) I reset my password and after getting an in-app confirmation, something was running in the backend that forced the app to run without dimming or locking, so by the time I got back to my phone it was raging hot. 3) The text input was wonky and every time I tried inputting my login info or reset password info the CTA under it would block the text somehow so it was hard to see what I was typing? 4) Basic things like changing linked bank accounts or upgrading/downgrading/canceling memberships are difficult, and I get it, you need to make money but it’s a treasure hunt which is an unpleasant user experience. Things I do love: the brand, Sallie, and the aesthetic of the app. The content available is also very interesting and I’ll give the app some more of my time!

Better options available
I signed up with Ellevest when it first started a couple of years ago. I didn’t know anything about investing and it seemed like a safe way to get started. While it was handy with auto-withdrawals from my bank and managing investments for me, it didn’t really help me learn anything. I did a lot of my own research to understand what I wanted to do with my money. I was okay with paying fees knowing that I’d get that extra assistance that I needed, but I still wasn’t earning enough to meet my goal and was constantly suggested to add large one-time deposits to “get back on track”. It started to feel more like a savings account in which I was the only one contributing and not making much profit (while also paying fees) I started watching more videos and reading articles about investing, stocks, etc and decided to use Robin Hood instead. It’s also a beginner friendly app which helps you get started in stocks with no fees (unless you want the added services) Overall, Ellevest may be a good place to start where young women will feel empowered but ultimately you may want to take charge of your own money and move your accounts elsewhere

Does not work on older phones (anymore)
My initial review would have been 4 star abouta year ago, but after using often on my iPhone 6 it just suddenly stopped working. I can’t open it or access any accounts. Had I known they would stop working on my phone (the main way I access this bank) I wouldn’t have opened my accounts. Without an actual bank it’s like robbery when you cannot access your info. I notified them about it not working months ago and even with updates it still won’t work. I won’t be held hostage to buy a new phone just to use my account so I will not be opening anymore accounts with them (as I had planned to). If you’re a tech company you have to be better than all other banks in tech. You have to maintain the relationships you have with your original users, and not bait and switch, and/or ignore older customers for newer clients (and newer phones). I won’t be held hostage by Apple to update my (too expensive) phone because they want more money from me, and a bank that won’t let me access my money is also a poor choice.

Thanks, I hate it
This app is so buggy and hard to use. I can find no app tutorials, no screen captures, no walk-throughs. It’s really terrible. I also can’t find any option to cancel, change my membership, etc. I’ve been waiting for my bank to be verified for a week and no communication or anything regarding it. I got a debit card in the mail and I activated it, and went to put money on it...there was some quick button to transfer money, I chose $50. It didn’t say where it was taking it from and no option to see the history(such as pending transactions, etc.) I realized my bank isn’t even verified yet...so...how could it transfer $50? WTH is happening!? Lol! I uploaded my bank statement so they can verify it and it never confirmed the upload. When you go to the upload bank statement option, it just lets you upload it again and again while never confirming. I really hate this app, I do not want to involve any of my dollars with this company that can’t even get this app straight. Going over to Robinhood, trying to cancel my membership here.

Regret not starting sooner
I heard of Ellevest about a year ago and the mission immediately appealed to me. However, I put opening an account with them on the back burner because I was apprehensive. Now looking at how easy, simple, and good returns; I really regret not starting sooner. With their new changes, I’m predicting that more young women will join because it’s worth it. Last, I don’t understand the complaints, the app is simple and has an appealing UI that’s easy on the eyes! I think the issue is some women don’t understand, they are a roboadvisor.

Don’t trust this company
I got Ellevest back in August 2022. Loved the mission/message and it seemed like a great idea! I signed up, linked my account and was waiting on the approval on their end to get going. Months went by and I never heard from them, assuming it just wasn’t working. Fast forward 6 months, without knowledge of my account being approved, they start charging me for their subscription service. Meanwhile I have no money in Ellevest because I didn’t even know it was approved. Yet they still started to charge me - for 2 years. I never noticed, my bad, but they took hundreds from me. The WORST part? Their customer service. I tried to cancel and heard nothing. If you don’t trust me, call them right now - they won’t pick up. They don’t pick up. I had to write a message on their TikTok and Instagram pages for them to give me the time Of the day. It truly infuriates me how you can trust a company and they can be so disrespectful. Don’t use Ellevest!!!!!!!!!!!

No Longer Made For Women
I used ellevest to have a separate account that gave me benefits on shopping and to build my portfolio. Soon I was watching my spouses investments soar and mine not move an inch, so I switched out of the investment platform and onto his. I continued to use the spending card that gave me cash back on places I frequently shopped at and loved the look and feel of the card. I then received an email from ellevest that they would be deactivating cards, and that section of ellevest (Save & Spend) since they were taking a different direction as a company. Disappointed, I shredded my card, transferred my money to another account, and moved on with my life assuming that my account would be cancelled since that was the only account I had open with them. A year later, I was charged $97 fee for ellevest despite the fact that my only account was deactivated. I emailed support only for them to tell me a week later that fee is non refundable and I would not receive my money back even though I didn’t even know I still had an account because I was told it was cancelled. Now I am out $97 for no apparent reason. Shady business practices and support system. For a company that is supposed to be about uplifting women and helping them grow financially, they sure do like stealing women’s money.

Enjoying. However, would appreciate more features
It’s a good app all around. Well designed, educational, attractive. Not great though, and here’s why. There are very important features missing. If I am spending my money on an app for money management, I want it to be wholesome and complete with cash management tools/features. Two features I DEEPLY miss from other banking apps: 1. The option to save for different goals without using an investment account to do so. This feature helps me organize my finances for things like groceries, yearly bills, or other upcoming expenses that I don’t necessarily want to invest money to save for (too short term). It’s more of an organization feature than anything. (Simple Banking app has this for free) 2. A complete budgeting feature! Please add these two things, Ellevest! If these features were added, this would be my absolute favorite banking app (and much more worth the monthly fee). Another note- Ellevest works great on new phones, but if you have an old phone it probably won’t work, unfortunately. :( I had to wait almost a year to use this app after much frustration with trying to set up an account on an iPhone 6—now that I have the iPhone 12 it works like a dream, though.

Trying to warn everyone!
Poor performance and awful customer service! I wanted to support this company but the low returns and now $5 fee per month just is not worth it! This was a small account for me, the balance and monthly deposit size should have been considered before changing the fee to $5/month. I have 50X more funds in another investment account similar to this one that performs exponentially better AND only costs $3/month. Fees are too high, performance too low, communication about the change in fee was nonexistent in the app or via text, only sent an email which is not enough. Ellevest truly blows. Shame on the founder(s) for ruining such a cool concept and both losing funds of women who supported them AND charging higher fees than competitors without proper notification. Not worth it, wait for the next company to come around and execute this idea properly. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

A horrible experience
I downloaded the Ellevest app and created an account, and I was very excited to learn how to invest and to be a part of a company geared towards women. Getting my account set up was quite the pain. I had to submit loads of personal information including my SSN and a bank statement from my bank. Then, I got locked out of my account. I tried changing the password multiple times and logging in on the website and nothing worked. A customer service rep asked me to, again, submit pictures of my social security card, my Driver’s License, bank statement, and a utility bill. I submitted those documents. She emailed me back and told me my account was being restricted for “suspicious activity.” Now I can no longer use the app or my account, even after all of the information I gave them and time I spent trying to get things set up. Way to go, Ellevest. Way to go.

Waste of time| SCAM
I signed up for Ellevest years ago. probably 2018 is when I started investing and when I did not see a way I could get my money out, I stopped investing. I got a new phone with a new number shortly after and since they have a two step verification, and I have no access to the old number, I am locked out of my account. For years I periodically try to gain access by calling their customer service number (The ONLY other option to gain access to this account) and as many times as I called I’ve NEVER got in touch with anyone.. but today I have time. I’ve been calling, each time I get on the phone it says my wait time is 3 minutes. I’ll sit on the line for at least 5 before the robot apologizes & tell me to leave a voicemail. I am currently on call #7 and I won’t stop til I get my funds I’ve invested. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THEM!

Scam or someone is likely to get charged with White Collar theft (1st degree)
I requested a withdrawal a week ago and they supposedly sent it to my bank on 8/15. They said it would take up two business days. I understand there’s a lot of money laundering laws that it take time before it’s sent to a bank 7 days or more depending on the amount. I went to the bank today 8/20 like they told me to and ask where’s it at. My bank told me there’s no pending withdrawal from Folio company. Well there’s a lot of money went down the drain and must I remind you that this could be a trace for a white collar crime or even federal charges if it’s reach to that level. I had to tell the bank to make it stop payment from this company, which was $30. Not happy. It’s not worth going for this company to throw away money and this company should shut down before they face bigger issues.

eh
i downloaded it after listening to an episode of bad w money by gabby dunn. i thought that initially it was very informative & super cool for women! however, about 3 weeks in i had a change in mhm employment and decided i needed to close my account. it has been such a debacle to get even close to getting my account closed, all the while money is still being pulled from my account. it takes almost a week (6 days) to transfer money back, the company takes days to weeks to respond and when you’ve finally done everything to cancel it (because there’s no way for you to do it without contacting support) they tell you they’re busy and you don’t get any further updates. most notably, i was told to withdraw all money from my ellevest account and once that went through to notify them so they could close my account. i did this and was waiting for the money to transfer back and the next day got an email that “since i haven’t taken action, they’re closing my ticket” and when i emailed back begging them not to do that they said they’re busy. i had to restart the entire process and all the while the app is still pulling money. this is so infuriating.

Wall St with balayage and botched botox
Ellevest is the love bomber you date until you realize you get the bare minimum & none of your needs are met. When you want to break up - they morph into the true predatory, gaslighting, narcissistic loser that you’ll spend the next 5 years talking about in therapy. Divorce would actually be more pleasant than cancelling the subscription. I had attempted to cancel last YEAR - to my surprise I was billed AGAIN for an app that hadn’t been on my phone for a year. Thought the cancellation would be easier this time around, but I’m still in limbo with slow responses and no answers. Difficult and inaccessible process. The finance bro with amphetamines in his Patagonia pocket has stronger ethics and would refund you the $54. But not the app built for women. Best of luck to anyone who uses the app.

Bank account never confirmed
I joined ellevest in July at $9/month level and uploaded banking information and lots of private information. Could not access the essential parts of the app like banking to set up spend and save accounts because the app said it was still verifying my identity and bank info. No option within the app to change membership levels or cancel membership. Emailed someone at the app they said they’d extended my free membership for several months but my bank info was still being verified. August came and went no verification Early September still no verification and customer service was concerned I wanted to leave but would not look at my account and address the issue with bank verification. Was never able to use the essential features of this app or invest or save any money. Cancelled membership.

First Review Deleted?
Not sure what happened to my first review. I came on to update it and it’s gone. Here’s my experience. I contacted customer service to stop automatic withdrawals and I never received assistance. I wanted to close the account but all the money had to be withdrawn which can take 5 business days or more. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy or excited about the app. Fast forward, the app itself doesn’t and I repeat DOES NOT have the same features as the website. You have more control using the website than the app. I was able to stop my own auto withdrawals. I only use the app to check my funds. What I do love is my money started making me money right away. I was going to close the account but I’m keeping it open and investing small amounts as I have three other accounts with other companies. If you’re not happy with the app, use the website. So far, I haven’t figured out how to change my investments. Hopefully, we will have that option soon. I give it 3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ The app needs the same if not more features than the website.

edit: the funniest part of their response is that i literally did not get my problem resolved. which makes it even more clear not a single person in customer service properly reads basic comments and concerns. no wonder my problem was never resolved. good luck if you need to change your linked bank account. thank god i only put $10 in here to test the waters. customer service is horrendous (*cough cough* ercan- if you get him open a new ticket and get someone else). horrible experience. i’m sure it’s a great app and enjoyable investing experience if you don’t spend 4 weeks trying to link a bank account like i did (spoiler alert: ercan never was even able to help me w that dozens of emails later). i left 3 voicemails never got a call back. i wanted to support a women led and owned app, but wow. unprofessional, disorganized and a bit shady. the fact i stayed calm and sweet the whole time is the only pro because it shows my character development as a person. will continue using my current brokerages that have phone support and competent customer service. thanks for holding my $10 hostage hope you enjoy it 🙄

Opposite of Ellevest’s Values
I wanted to like this app for the same reason a lot of other women did. It’s a nice idea to have investing centered around women and their unique attributes opposite against financial advice typically tailored to men, but this service isn’t it. The app and website are very frustrating to use. There is essentially zero pressure formation of past performance. Sure it looks visually very nice and simple, but I have zero indication on how my investments are performing. Sure you can see nice little forecasts on what Ellevest THINKS it will return, but there is nothing on what ACTUALLY HAPPENED. I event tried to pull all dividends and interests earned over the last year to do the math myself but you can’t even export anything. I couldn’t even copy and past the information into an spreadsheet. It fees almost manipulative by trying to hide this information And if you try to actually contact someone forget it. Even their fact robo chat bot will not answer you. I cannot recommend this product. It’s pretty disheartening to see an app targeting women and delivering so little.

i was very excited to sign up. however, they had me submit pictures of my id & other info 3 separate times before the even opened my account. it took forever to get a response so i had to just tweet at them and then their twitter team finally helped me reach someone. now i was about two weeks into finally having my account & it all of a sudden gets locked with no explanation. in order to unlock it i of course have to send my id picture for a FOURTH time but with me holding it. i’m tired of having to verify that i am me over and over again. i assume that’s why they are making me do this?? not worth the trouble at all. now that i am closing my account they have no problem doing that immediately.

So, what are you doing with my money?
It’s got a very nice design, but other than that I’m a bit disappointed with it. It boasts empowerment of women and teaching about stocks and bonds. After a few months of use, I don’t feel educated. I feel patronized. My money is taken from the account, placed into random stocks and bonds- no questions about where I would like it to go. No education about whether it’s going to companies I’d like to own stock in, and not much else to help other than a pie chart and a vague graph. What if I want to diversify my portfolio in different ways? What if I’d rather not buy stock into one of your set chosen enterprises? At this point, I’d just like to liquidate my interests, and delete. Don’t get if you’d actually like to learn anything about or be in charge of your stock market investing.

I like the company and hate the app
Literally every single time I try to open the app, I get hit with a notification that it has been updated and I can’t log in again until I update my app. It is the single most frequently updated app on my phone out of dozens and dozens of app. What the heck is going on over there that requires infinite updates? Then it doesn’t accept my Face ID until I log in again and their password requirements are so weird compared to other banking sites that I can never quite remember what I used and have to look it up. Takes me like 5-10 minutes every time I want to use the app just to log in. I usually give up and just get on my computer. Most annoying app ever.

Disappointed
I really wanted to love this app. However, after downloading it and signing up I noticed that they don’t accept my bank account. Luckily, I had a second account that I used for my small business that they did accept. So I tried using that. But because there wasn’t a minimum of $100 in my checking account for that account they wouldn’t approve my account. I sent multiple PDFs to them, showing that there are transactions for that account on a regular basis. And even a PDF of the same account with money in my savings and they are still giving me a hard time about it. Which I really don’t understand. If I’m not putting $100 into my Ellevest account why do you need to see $100 in my checking account? And when you can see several hundred in the same account in the savings portion, why are you giving me a hard time? I don’t know, it’s super disappointing that they’re being this difficult for no reason. I’m not impressed. Just know that even if you plan to invest only $1 they need to see $100 in your account or they won’t accept you.

Face ID option isn’t available
The Ellevest app gets better over time. However, it takes such a long time for these updates/bug fixes to kick in. For example, Touch ID sign in for the app works well with older phones but the Face ID sign in is still not available. That’s a bummer, coz I can hardly remember my log in deets. Besides it’s a great app for beginners who don’t want the hassle of constantly checking the stock markets.

Overall Amazing
I can’t believe the detail that Ellevest goes to to make their calculations to help set your goals. I love all the data especially in the beginning for new investors. I also love the Impact investing. Amazing! Even customer service is helpful. And usually responds within a week. The only reason I gave this app a 4 was because while it shows different languages available. There is no option to actually set the app to any other language but English. I can only assume the languages shown are all those spoken by employees if you call.

Glitchy
I started switching accounts because I liked the goals and the user interface. However, I’ve been getting a lot of of “oops there’s been an error, please try again later”, which is not something you want from a financial app. And I’ve gotten it from various aspects of the app from linking a bank account to setting up a retirement account. Tried uninstalling and installing app and whatnot. Anyway I like the idea but execution of the app could be better. Can’t really comment on how they do money management wise as I haven’t really been able to do anything.

Really great but I have a suggestion
I love this app, but one thing that I miss from my old bank is a “monthly spend” recorder. It shows how much I spend each month which helps with budgeting a lot!! I really have a problem with just using the amount I put in my spend account. I think it would help a lot of people with knowing how much they spend and how much less they need to spend a month. It’s hard to look back through all the transactions and calculating it myself. Please read this Ellevest!

Huge decrease in service
I used to be a huge Ellevest proponent in the past but the inability to quickly and simply contact anyone on the support team is infuriating. I’ve been attempting to link my bank account and gain access after being inadvertently locked out of my account for over a month. I’ve received no meaningful support or assistance, and it appears that the customer service team cannot be bothered to read the previous emails between myself and other members of their team. I’m so disappointed and disheartened - I used to truly love using this app and the services but I’ve unfortunately reached the end of my rope. I truly hope they get their act together in the future.

Very buggy
I love the idea of this app - if only I could actually deposit money to start investing! I’m stuck in an endless loop of trying to connect my bank account and make my first deposit. When I enter my bank login information and then select an account to link, it just sends me right back to the bank login screen even though the login should have been successful. The UI of the app is a bit confusing and there’s no way to check whether my deposit was initiated or whether my bank account was actually connected. I’d steer clear of wasting your time setting up your account on this app until they fix these major usability issues.

Horrible. Don’t waste your money.
After being a member for two years - I am extremely disappointed. Either financial projections are WAY off, or Ellevest is terrible at investment. Here’s the story. I make a $100 deposit into an FDIC Cash account each month (among other accounts). Over the course of three years, Ellevest predicts I will have saved $637. Let that sink in for a moment. 36 months * $100 each month = $637. I’m not a trader by profession, but I have a suspicion that this is incorrect. I have contacted Ellevest about this twice. The first time, someone returned my call and left a voicemail letting me know that Ellevest tends to make “conservative projections.” Yes, a $3000 loss in an FDIC Cash account seems pretty darn conservative, I’ll give them that. The second time I called, I was told that the issue would be raised to the engineering team and I would hear back within 48 hours. This was two weeks ago. I don’t trust these people with my money, and neither should you. Closing my accounts. Ellevest, you deserve every word of this review. Shame for your poor service.

They KEEP Taking Money AFTER I CANCELED!!
I cancelled my membership MONTHS ago and they're still taking my money each month. I've contacted support multiple times with no response nor the cancellation of my membership. First of all, their membership cancellation process is horrible. If you try to do it from the app or the website, it forces you to contact support. You have to write an email to cancel. Well, I did this months ago and then found out recently that Ellevest still taking my money. I emailed them again. I swear to god I'm about to file a suit or at the very least, this is going to force me to have to change my credit card. I'm sick of this. They're a scam.

Educational, informative, and helping me build wealth!
I love this app! I have been steadily auto depositing money over the past year, and Ellevest invests all of it for me, making the process super easy! I especially love the informational graphics about investing, and I have found them to be super clear about my funds. This is my first time investing any money, and I was nervous in the beginning. But I knew that I wanted to build long term wealth and this is definitely helping me do that!

Bad ratings and poor communications
I had a pretty poor experience with Ellevest. Trying to communicate with their team was horrendous. They are inconsistent on replying to their emails which is not only unprofessional in itself but frustrating and worrisome when it comes to your own money. You want to have a company that would respond and put their customer as a priority. After not being able to get in touch with Ellevest, I decided to read some reviews on the App Store was well was BBB, and it just confirms the suspicions I had about them. Now I can just hope that they respond to my recent email and cancel my membership and close my accounts.

Amazing app for beginner investor
This is an amazing app with a wonderful mission behind it. Ellevest has a stunning user interface and is easy to use. I love that the app focuses on building wealth through social consciousness. With that said, this app is best for people starting on their investment journey or for those who really want to set it and forget it. If you are interested in picking stocks and making choices, there are other platforms better suited to your needs.

Need better support
I love ellevest until tax season every year. They say they’re not tax professional and can’t offer support regardless of what you ask. All I need is them to have more detailed and better labeled tax form. When I talked to my tax professional, they said I need to ask ellevest for clarity but nobody there would help with my question. That points to the biggest downfall of the modern way of investing. If you value being able to call a real human and ask a question, then this probably isn’t the right app for you.

Ellevest is Great, The Banking is Not
This app started with investing in which you transfer money from your regular bank account. Then they added Banking; yay! No. The Checking/Savings portion of this app should not have been released. It’s nowhere near ready for consumers. They use Coastal Community Bank for the banking services and I cannot tell you how many issues I had. I couldn’t pay my mortgage, my PG&E, my car payment and more. Couldn’t use Zelle, Plaid, and countless other apps/services because it would not recognize my routing/account info. The bank was NOT recognized by so many places. Their “solution” was to send every single account you have problems with a letter saying their routing # and bank info IS correct. Yeh, NO establishments cared about this, their system simply DID NOT register my account number with the routing they provided. Absolute nightmare moving all my banking to this app. Switched to Wells Fargo instead. Again, company is great, idea is great, women investing is great. Banking is not.

Great concept, app needs development
I havent gotten any technical glitches or issues so far, but i do have a few things i think would make the app have a better flow: 1. I would like tp edit my goal without having the app trying to start another base deposit. 2. Moving the one time deposit next to/near the auto deposit editor would be nice. 3. I noticed after updating the auto deposit, the history of my transactions/deposits are no longer available.

Empowering women by investing in women
Stocks and investments has always overwhelmed me. As a woman in my thirties I’ve always been uncertain of the financial verbiage and was too afraid to make risky money mistakes. Because of EV I am excited to finally watch the progress towards meeting financial freedom and stability that seemed to daunting to ever achieve before. I am SO thankful for an app that gives women the power back to bridge the wage gap that we have so long deserved. Thank you ElleVest!!

Lost my money
Ellevest mismanages accounts. They have not earned me a single dollar over almost 2 years now. I literally have less money invested than what I have added into my account because all the stocks/bonds/whatever they invested in have gone down in value. In other words when I close out my account I will be getting less money back than what I put in. I would have cancelled already if the process wasn’t as difficult. I do not recommend, a high yield savings account like Affirm will earn you more money in interest than this app ever could through investing your money.

Bank verification is a hassle
I would not recommend this app to anyone who uses a credit union. I really wanted to use this app, but it has been a month since I signed up and they still can’t verify my back statements. Even though I have uploaded my statements many times. I have been flipped between many reps trying to figure it out, but they say the same thing and I do the same thing and then it doesn’t work and I get pushed to someone else. The definition of insanity. I would not recommend this app as even though it has a good idea, it does not have the skills or tech to execute it.

Cancelation is extremely shady, and they’ll still charge you
I liked Ellevest fine but wasn’t investing enough to make the $12 monthly fee worth it, so decided to cancel my account. They make it so difficult to cancel and make you specify exactly how much you want to move out of your account without letting you select the entire balance. Then they wait 7 days to transfer your balance, meaning it’s grown at least by a few cents. Even if you have $0.01 leftover, this renders your account as still active and they will continue to charge you. Very shady and scummy, I won’t be returning.

I Wouldn’t
Any company that deletes reviews, really isn’t a company to go with. I provided them with the information they requested. They didn’t get back to me. I emailed them a week later to inquire. Was told “Everything looks great and verified, go ahead and finish signing up. I proceed to log in and finish signing up... another error occurs. They need more information? I email them again. A week later, get an email saying, I’m not who I am (even though I sent my dL and a bank statement and they said it was all set up) they needed MORE INFORMATION. Um, no. First you have ALL of my banking information, my ss #, everything a bank needs. If you needed more information, you should have asked when you asked for the first set. You shouldn’t have told me my account was ready to go. I went with another investment bank, who had no problem with the same info I gave you 🤔. Also, deleting comments that weren’t bad but honest, shows what kind of company you are.

Scammy business practices.
I’ve been trying to get my money back from this company as I use my roth IRA at a different company more. I don’t use this account anymore/enough to justify paying $100 in fees to keep it open. They have given me the run around and claiming I didn’t fill out the forms they have sent me FOUR times now. I filled it out from a desktop and filled out every section I am able to see, clicked the submit form button, and yet they claim I haven’t and won’t give me my money. And I’m starting to think I won’t see the money I invested ever again. This is a scam. Avoid.

Wish i read the reviews first
Definitely scammers, won’t let you remove your bank information without emailing them and then they don’t respond to the emails! Can’t delete your account without emailing them too, which they won’t respond to those emails either… Avoid so you don’t end up the victim of theft. FYI: for those who are trying to remove their bank account info but can’t reach the nonexistent customer service team, try reaching out to PLAID instead, as that’s who handles the banking info. Terrible it has to be done like this. How is this app not shut down??

Enjoy Ellevest as an investment resource, app experience is frustrating
I’ve been a member of Ellevest since 2018 and have loved the ease of investment and the female empowered investing brand, however I find it irritating that almost everytime I go to use the app, I have to update it - not that the update is available, that I MUST update it to open it. There should still be functionality in slightly older versions of the app so users don’t have to constantly re-download it.

Great stance, bad app
I have been with Ellevest for a year this month. From my beginning, the app has been very buggy and transactions a bit slower than your average. I’m tired of it. You should also give more information to your clients other than a pie chart and projection, not everyone is a beginner. Getting back quickly to your clients should also be a priority. The first response is usually replied to on the same day, but good luck getting a reply after that. I have sent 3 messages with no response.
