I was able to troubleshoot and set up my First Hawaiian Bank mobile app with the expertise and knowledge presented by “Mr. Aris”. He was very knowledgable and patient while assisting me in setting up my online banking. Not only did “Mr. Aris” professionally complete my online banking smoothly, he did it on a Monday at 11:00am which was near lunchtime. Good job First Hawaiian Bank on finding “Mr. Aris” to be part of your First Hawaiian Bank call center department.
Lately the app on my iPhone as you login just goes to a blank black screen so of course it’s completely unusable. Two other things:1) the checkbox on the login screen for using touch ID is too complicated. You have to follow the exact sequence of entering your password, then checking the box, and then pressing the login button. It would be a lot easier if you once you checked it, it stayed checked. 2) the picture taking of the check is very awkward. Usually the screen frame is upside down and if you take the picture that way the app is unhappy. If you manage to get the screen rotated it around so it’s right side up, then the picture of the check is upside down and you have to turn the check so it’s upside down to get it to line up with that is the frame. Beyond those quibbles it’s a pretty good app and useful.
FHB updated their App about a month ago. Simply put, it’s terrible! The last one was pretty good but this one is useless. It won’t let me on bill pay on my iPad. I keep getting a message saying I have to change my settings to allow tracking on other Apps and web-sites and to allow cookies. What I do on other other Apps and web-sites is absolutely no business of the bank. NONE! I called the bank (actually they called me back a day later) and apologized but offered no solution. I called Apple and they tried to trouble shoot the problem with me with no success. Apple confirmed what I do on other Apps and web-sites is no business of my bank. But just to see what would happen I changed my settings while I had Apple on the phone. Nothing. Useless. It’s still not letting me on bill pay. I am now in the process of looking for another bank. This is a classic example of leave well enough alone.
I don’t know why the app keeps saying to check my cookies settings… haven’t found any cookies settings, and anyway, what would be the point of having cookies in an app which is presumably used only on the one device and for the one purpose? Possibly more than one user but how can you tell? Other than that, it’s perfectly easy to see when automatic payments go out and checks are cashed and deposits come in, and that’s 75% of what I use the app for. Of course, making new payments is impossible because of the cookie thing, but that only started with the latest update.
I have tried multiple times to get enrolled on the online banking and every time I am given a “failed to enroll” error. When I try it on my computer, the link to enroll now takes me to blank tab that says page has failed to display. If they can’t get their online banking to work, what else isn’t working? The new account opening procedure was terrible, the employee wasn’t friendly at all and when I noticed an error in my signature card she got upset that she had to redo it. And, you have to fill out every thing in hand first before you sit with the banker. What is this? The 80’s? This bank needs to update and get with the times. Going to switch banks due to nothing but issues and I can’t even check my balances on my computer or phone.
App was working fine until it stop me from accessing my account. It's shows me update now I press it, and goes to App Store, without ever updating, I have an iPhone 5, and not purchase another phone just to use the app, coding should still allow older models of iPhone to still use the app, without locking you out,if my iPhone is not broken and still function then I would like the same for the app. Application not working, Very disappointed on always saying bug fixes but clearly there never is a fix, I can't seem to understand why you all who worker on the app just keep it simple. I even had a bank teller delete the app only to downloaded back to my iPhone only to go through the same cycle, of update now, never updating at all. What a poor application.
The convenience of this app has helped inter grade my finances into part of my life. Instead of waiting for a monthly statement I see where my money is going. It’s an organizing tool to help me stay on track with my financial goals. The reason for the 4 star is I utilize the app on my iPhone and iPad and it seems a little sensitive to the touch. It might be just me but I’m constantly prompting things back because my touch is always taking me to somewhere I didn’t intend. It could be a case of fat fingers! Any suggestions would be helpful.
The newest app is much improved but very disappointed to find out it cannot be exported at all. What good is it on a mobile device if you cannot export the information so you can use it outside of your mobile device? Information cannot be printed either. It takes time to setup categories in there and arrange them so you can see a graph of how your money is spent but none can be exported or printed. So disappointed. Please fix this.
Rebooted system and message appears “no connectivity”. My internet works and Apple tech assisted after downloading app. Still message appeared. Others in household tried to download app and also had problems. I tried many times and finally got the app and could log into app. First security question appeared which I had never encountered. Entered an answer and surprisingly it took me into my account. Anyone could type in any answer and you could automatically get into the account. After checking my account, logged out. To be sure the app was finally working I tried logging in again. Same message appeared about no connectivity. Please techies.....fix the problems with your app.
Logins stop working every few weeks even though you don’t change anything. Even when you try to log back in with your correct credentials it says it’s incorrect. Then you are forced to reset your password, but you can’t use previous passwords. But considering this happens every few weeks, you’ll have to end up creating really random passwords that you really won’t remember because you used up all your normal ones from being logged off every time. I almost want to change banks because this is so annoying.
This app has been my primary interface with FHB. The experience is frequently frustrating because the app will not consistently use Face ID and it makes me wonder if it is secure. Compared to other banking apps this is big disappointment because other banking apps use facial recognition consistently for months compared to only days, or sometimes hours, for FHB’s app. It is also frustrating for FHB to take a full week to post a payment. It is not clear why this takes so long especially when the payer and payee use the same bank. Antiquated process.
It takes days for my loan/credit card balance to update after transferring the funds from within my FHB accounts. Shouldn’t that be updated automatically? I’ve never had this issue with other bank apps that I’ve been using for years. It took me a while just to locate the original loan amount on my auto loan and I still can’t find additional details such as interest rate, pay off amount, original loan date, loan term, etc. The account details tab just shows the remaining balance and that’s all. This app lacks so many functions and isn’t user friendly at all.
I walked into this bank to open up a saving and to easily transfer money to my USAA account to pay bills. (There is no USAA branch on Oahu). I told them the purpose for my account and was repeatedly assured that this was an easy task with their bank. The app and website keeps displaying an error message when I try to connect external transfer and no one at the branch seems to know how to fix this so my money is stuck in an account with them. Incredibly frustrating and the website and app are so slow and broken. Will probably close account and take money elsewhere.
Decided to get the mobile app to stay alert of my account activities. It gives me a good daily snapshot. Couple of days later I noticed some unusual debit activities and I could get it resolved quickly. Thank you for a great service.
I have other bank accounts and unlike this FHB app they are NEVER down for maintenance. Also FHB app cant synch with other apps that require Bank account Ownership and ID confirmation thus disabling customers. And to top it off, FHB app forces customers to go thru security screening loops way too often to the point that its a disservice to the user. I dont have any of these issues with the other 4 bank account apps I use, so this is definitely a FHB issue.
I had to create an excel spreadsheet just to maintain an accurate spreadsheet/balance on my accounts. This app is slow and keeps telling me my internet connectivity is slow. When it finally “syncs” it does not show accurate information. It takes days to show transactions. The purpose of a mobile app is to have instant access to your accounts but how can we when the bank does not show transactions, even with transactions made on the app between FHB accounts.
So the app for First Hawaiian works fine, but using the Zelle option within the app presents some issues. It seems the alignment is very off, making it really hard to click on the buttons when trying to progress through payments or transactions. Please have this adjusted or fixed soon, as it makes for a very poor experience.
Why are some of the transactions done not shown or updated in my fhb acc ??? It says synced . I dont understand why i am not able to see my current real balance after all the processed and completed transactions from and in, to the account. And i am waiting for my debit card as i opened my account back in April 20th. Everything is super slow here. Costumer service department to the online account is so frustrating. I only have this bank with me coz i am new here and i am desperately waiting for my debit card.
I have been unable to login for the past 2 days on iPhone. The app says to check my connections because I have no internet. Yet I can check my account via mobile web. I would close all apps running in the background and restart the phone. Still says no connection or error message pops up. I even deleted the app and reinstalled it but still same issue.
Since the last update, the mobile deposit screen has changed. It takes at least 10 tries to get the picture just right. Today, I spent 20 minutes trying to get my check deposited, but it kept saying the picture was not clear. I’m looking at the picture and it is clear to me, I have all four corners and I put everything where it should be. I’m so frustrated!!!! I’m ready to change banks. Now I have to make a special trip just to deposit the stupid check in person. Ughhhhh😡
this app is super helpful. it has saved many trips to the bank. it’s easy to check my balance, deposit checks, & make transfers from my checking to savings. the only problem is that the app occasionally crashes which can be frustrating… otherwise it’s a great app.
TOO MANY MEMORY EATING UPDATES! Please stop it with the constant updates! App wouldn’t allow me to bypass the update. Needed access right away. So i clicked for it to update. Now app opens and just hangs on the First Hawaiian bank logo screen- cannot get past it. Ios 6S 12.4 Please revert to previous update asap so i can get back to mobile banking!!! I hate useless updates that do nothing but hog up memory. Now I don’t even have enough memory on a 64 gig phone to run these apps because they constantly require more updates. ENOUGH already!
Set up a direct deposit from my paycheck to here, but still took 7 business days for it to clear? Doesn’t make sense. Also, they’re new payment over the app feature doesn’t reflect same-day. Doesn’t even give you the estimate time it will clear. ( another 7 business day perhaps, but they don’t tell you that) And also making a payment from a FHB checking account to FHB loan? Shouldn’t it process quicker? Absolutely frustrated with the app
The app does its job. But it takes many days to update the balance after making payments. I make a payment today, and the transaction or new balance won't show until next week. It gives me a false sense that there is still a lot of funds then the balance goes down all the sudden one day. I wish it would update the balance more regularly.
Super easy to use. I can check my balance and transfer money wherever I’m at. The FaceID (if you have a compatible phone) makes it even easier to log in. The interface is user friendly and I can do whatever I need to quickly.
When I try to use any drop down menus within my online account on my personal iPad, nothing is able to be selected. I would tap on my selection 10x before I get frustrated and switch to my iPhone or a desktop computer to complete my task. Also, when I try to select an account to transfer money, no option is available to choose. I tend to depend on my iPad for convenience and pay bills and it’s inconvenient when I have to keep switching between different devices.
No history of bills payments. The interface looks beautiful but functionality of the site itself has been lacking for a very long time. My other two banks are far superior. Cmon FHB this is embarrassing for a bank of your stature. Your technology should be spot on.
I’ve never been a big fan of this type of banking due to the complexity of the apps. This App is easy to use and understand. The information is easily accessible and to me that makes my day.
It’s been our bank since the early 50’s, when it was called Bishop Bank. Dad retired from there, we have our mortgage, equity line, checking, savings with them . Why would we go else where. We know the people, they know us, and we like them
I’ve had this app for years but recently it has been almost impossible to use. It always logs me out & when I try to log back in, it says that there’s an error. No matter how many times I update the app or restart, says the same old thing about errors. I use FHB for daily expenses but lately I have been using my savings card because I have no access to my account to check my balance. I can’t keep calling customer service and waiting to be helped every time.
Worse bank ever. Besides other people tell me not to go to FHB, I chose FHB because I liked the checking account services and people at the branch were friendly. A couple months later I was already frustrated. Problems with my credit card statements, transactions made on my checking account and credit card priority destinations take almost one week to be posted, this app is the slowest and heaviest I ever seen and its operation is very limited. Sure that I’ll be changing my bank pretty soon.
This app informed me that it noticed my food spending is increasing and asked if I wanted to create a budget for it. With the cost of food rising nearly everyday - why should the app care about my food spending? This bank should spend more efforts with in-person customer service. Like do they tell their tellers to smile at customers? A number of their tellers look unhappy.
Easy to navigate, comfortable to look at, very secure and the customer service (if you forget your password several times) is premium. I give you guys an A+ for this app, I’m looking forward to whatever comes next from this app and the ohana at First Hawaiian. Mahalo!
I love the app, it’s interface, and functionality. I like how there’s a memo for each transaction but if it could be expanded to where we could take a photo of the receipt to match the transaction and have it stored there it would be great. Thank you!
I’m glad I can deposit in bank via mobile app. But FHB really needs to step up it’s online banking. I have another bank that allows me to see the checks that were deposited into my account. On FHB it’s just the amount and deposit slip. I’ve been with FHB since high school, but I’m about to bounce if they don’t work on their online banking system.
I understand needing to apply a fee to use online bill pay, but there’s some shady tactics hiding the monthly fee in a long disclaimer and making it really easy to opt in without a strong visible confirmation of said monthly fee. And the fact that the FHB logotype is stretched vertically on the load up screen, flat out unusable app throughout the whole iOS14 beta, and no way to view statements via the app just screams they give the bare minimum to the app experience.
The Canadian check we received wanted the check endowing the center of the check on the back. The system would not accept the photos. We had to resign the check on the end in order for it to accept. Now we just need to hope the Canadian bank will accept the multiple signatures
Frequent problems logging in when I need to check my accounts. Always get this annoying session timed out message whenever I open the app even though I logged out after the last use. What is the point of logging out when the session is terminated anyway when you close the app for more that a few minutes? The logging in problems are incredibly annoying. Almost makes me want to change banks.
I used to be able to do things with the Customer Service option like note if I was traveling or reorder checks. You've also taken those options out of your website, too! So now I have to call in to get those things done and OF COURSE there's not enough people in call center to handle this! And for all the times this app has been updated, it's still waaaaaayyy behind on features found in other banks' apps!
Terrible app, after the recent update done to the app I have been having consistent login issues. My phone is currently running the most recent iOS too. I was hoping the app would be fixed after the recent maintenance but that made it even worse. Now I am unable to get past the login screen. Save yourself some time and just use the website.
App worked fine for "Bill Pay" until today. App message when clicking on Bill Pay says to check Cookies and Tracking in Safari. Used Safari to connect to web site with no problems?
Unable to enroll my new account with this app. On hold with tech service for hours. They need to fix their app and make it easy and fast to sign up/in. The only other alternative is to go into the bank and wait even longer to speak with someone and even then I wouldn’t be able to log into my account through the app. This is 2022 get with the program.
It’s a good app and it’s very convenient. I just wish the credit card transactions and checks would be faster. On the other hand thought I don’t know what has to be done to go through. But it gives me anxiety lol
Very happy with the ease of use with First Hawaiian’s app. I use it all the time. Only drawback, can’t print cash lol. I check my account daily with ease. Transfer, deposits, are things I do with ease!
I downloaded it once and tried using it but never accepted my security answer. Then I tried to see if I could correct it on the web app. It only allowed me to puck new questions. I’m trying to download a fresh app but only have the option to use from the cloud that doesn’t work. I guess I’m stuck using only the website for online transactions. Starting to think that I should just move my accounts to BOH?
I am not a fan of providing negative reviews, although I do appreciate when people are honest so here it goes.
