When we receive our rental home it was filthy the toilets where dirty and both were leaking and needed the floats to be switched. Walls and ceilings where all dusty. The whole place was left as it was left by the last renters . We asked them to have a cleaner come by and clean it before we moved anything in and that they would contact us before entering the home and they did not nor did they follow up to ask if it was done. So and behold it was NOT done they just left us a card to purchase cleaning services! Lol . so we had to clean and fix everything ourselves. Luckily we are handy people ourselves but i would not recommend this company to anyone if this is how they operate. Besides that the home is decent. Wasps nests throughout the back which is natural but excessive cause of lack of attention. But this is our home for now. And we are grateful. But again i wouldn’t recommend

Customer Satisfaction
FirstKey Homes is an awesome corporation! I love what they stand for. Although, here in Arizona the staff need either retraining or replacing because they lack the passion for making customers very satisfied. Their conflict resolution skills are rated as low because they don’t follow through to see if the needs are being met on both ends. I wish I had one of those positions overthere I believe I could really bring the love and care to this dry but fertile land.@makingadifference. A lasting relationship with care and professional results. That’s what I’m paying for Thank you for the opportunity to speak up

Love my home but not the management company!!
I love the home I live in. But the management company not so much. I personally think that they are not responsive to residents concerns, requests, or issues and everything is on the tenant. So all they do is basically just provide a roof over your head and everything else is on tenant. Anytime you contact them make sure you document who you spoke with and when because they almost never follow up or follow through on anything unless you call them 10 times which is sad because it speaks to their professionalism as a management company which is why I just try not to call because it’s draining to tell ppl how to do their job especially when ppl are struggling trying to pay their rent during a pandemic.

Happy Residents
Love our home that we’ve found through First Key Homes! Have been in our home in Arizona for 3 years now & have no interest in buying a home now because our home is actually cheaper than what we’d pay for a mortgage! Our home was built in 2016 & has everything that we’d look for in purchasing a home, our only regret is that First Key Homes doesn’t have a rent to own program because we’d buy this house in a heartbeat!

Stay as far away from FirstKey homes as possible. I will admit, the searching, application process and leasing all being done online was very easy and convenient, but that’s where it ends. After actually living in the home for a few months, it’s apparent that maintenance is not a priority for this company. Issues from prior to move in are deemed “tenant responsibility” if not reported in the first 30 days. MOLD is present in my home as well as homes in the walls. Exterior is wood and is rotting away, leaving several openings in the structure to allow water to get in. Many issues were pointed out during our initial walkthrough and we were told “not to worry about those because they’re already aware of them and have them documented “. Also during walk-through, bugs were crawling…agent said “it’s Florida”. The ac unit is more then 20 years old and horribly ineffective, but because it “technically still works”, nothing will be done about it. Thats what they said. Actually love my home, layout and location, but it’s literally falling apart around us. Any new buyer would see it as a tear-down.

Pleased With First Key Homes
Usually when people rent homes they’re younger and are able to navigate through the rental process. My partner and I are older and it’s been quite sometime since we rented. First key Representatives have been patient, helpful and professional the entire time. Maintenance team timely in answering calls and fixing problems. Accounting department understanding in payment transactions. The team in KCMO are always willing to talk to us or call us back and answer our questions. Glad we chose First Key Homes.

Great! However…
Great app through and through. However, my girlfriend and I split rent. It was very convenient being able to pay our own separate bills without having to transfer money. Sure… it’s something simple her and I can do but it has been a little tedious. Something we’d hope change… I doubt it has anything to do with the app. Nonetheless very easy to use and highly recommend if you are a firstkeys renter.

Ok app
I hate that I have to basically pay utilities with rent which makes a rather large chunk of change coming out of my account at the first of the month. Our experience with First Key has been horrible and they put everything on the tenant, including an almost $500 utility bill for us this past month. Mostly from water usage. How does a family of 4, 2 of which only live here part time use 64k gallons of water in a month?!? Worst rental experience of my life. I wish I hadn’t signed a 17 mth lease and could afford to break it. But who has 2 mths rent, along with deposit for somewhere else, just laying around.

User friendly, love the points for paying early!
Overall great experience the only thing that I found a bit frustrating is the billing for electric and water there’s not much details available to see the bill in the app and I have not received any paper invoice for the amount I pay. Would like to have the option to see a pdf version of yes energy bill from the Firstkey app.

If you rent and have to go through a National Management Agency, this is the best company I’ve ever had. The app is super easy to use for paying your rent, maintenance requests, or finding any information you may need. They respond almost immediately and the maintenance team are always professional, punctual and very friendly. I hope I’m able to continue to as a tenant!

Payment issues and more
Making payments using my debit card or checking account is basically impossible it won’t allow me too add my debit card it says that I already have it on file (which I don’t) And when I try too use my checking account it says that it has too be verified first ( which I’ve been trying to do since the last month ) so it only allows me too use my credit card or Apple Pay which Apple Pay is the only way I can actually use my debit card which charges a $10 fee and my credit card charges a $50 fee but my checking acc is free but I can’t even use my checking acc Also I don’t like the way we have too schedule for maintenance. Scheduling for maintenance should remain in the app and not a third part website Also the area that’s supposed too show me my lease agreement is non existent

Reggie was our service Tech and he exceeded my expectations today, he went above and beyond what I needed fixed. He also explained the problem so i can learn from it for the future. He Helped me with a couple random things that he didn’t have to do but was more than happy to help. I will be requesting Reggie to come out every time he is the best. Thank you

Good App
The app is fairly easy to use, but needs a fix on the “Make a Payment” page. It’s nearly impossible to see which option you’ve selected on how much you’d like to pay (pay total balance vs. custom amount). The bubbles fill in with a very dim check mark instead of a bright filled in bubble, so it’s hard to verify which one you’ve selected, even with screen brightness all the way up.

Improvements
This app needs more access to information. I can’t see how much my utility bill when the rent is placed together. I feel like the utility bill need to have its own access to be able to see what I’m paying each month. Yes a bill gets mailed to the house but I would like to be able to see it when I go to pay my bill on my phone. Paper gets lost or left behind but if it was on the app I would have it everywhere.

Color choices are questionable, features are limited
I can never tell if I have accurately selected anything in this app because somebody chose the colors as dark purple on a black background. It is really hard to see. I also wish I could do maintenance requests through the same app. Although most of my maintenance requests sit as “scheduled” for months and then are canceled by the company, so I guess it doesn’t matter to First Key if I can file requests easily or not.

Better than their Representatives!
Great App. I personally found more help through this app than anyone that actually works for First Key Homes. I get a different person every time to help me and they end up not helping me at all. With the app I found every answer I was looking for without any problems.

Easy, but could be better
Easy way to pay rent and I like that it shows a breakdown. Sometimes the app is a little too slow, and it often logs me out and I have to type out my information every time even with the “remember me” option on, which can be super inconvenient when I need to pull it up for a Quick Look.

Convenient and Simple
A convenient way to pay your rent and submit service issues. Very well thought out and organized. Also love the way you can apply multiple payments to your account so it can accumulate as a credit towards your rent. Keeps you proactive, instead of reactive when rent is due, making everyone happy and secure. Nice app!

Rent payment option
I refuse to give any stars. I did the steps to pay online with my checking account, which you guys deposited 0.5 cents in my checking account. But I’m unable to pay with my checking account. I’m probably not the only resident having the problem, because we are being forced to pay with are credit or debit to give out extra money. For a year I did this and paid out over $1000 fees and I have my checking account on file and your system want let me pay. BUT IF I CALL AND ABLE TO GET A REP ON THE PHONE BAM IT GOES RIGHT-THROUGH…STOP SCAMMING YOUR RESIDENT!

Notifications would be nice
This app does almost everything I would want. Problem is I always have to open it again and again to see if my bills have been added to my balance to pay yet. App notifications should be added to tell me that my months bill is now available to be viewed or paid. Instead, I have to wait for the reminder email to tell me.

This app is so very easy to pay my rent, my utilities bill! No need to mail a check, send a money order and then worry about if it will make it in time or get lost in the mail. No fees if paying with checking account is awesome, too!

Wouldn’t accept my first payment option
I tried to enter my credit card number manually and the system told me that my card was already added to my account. However when trying to make a payment my card was not listed. I tried three times and ended up having to pay using Apple Pay and it charged me an extra $64 without my acknowledgment. Other than that the app seems to work okay this far.

Background way too dark
Super easy to make payments & see history, etc. Very user friendly. BUT - the background is black with most of the text in purple- very hard to read, wish there was a way to either choose a different background color or the color would be changed to something lighter- gray or white would much better. Even light blue or light green.

FirstKey homes part of the problem
FirstKey home along with all other corporations who own private property are the problem. These companies and private equity have taken so many single family homes off the market, forcing the population to rent. Guess what that also gives them the power to control rental prices which are astronomical. FirstKey does not care one bit about you, they only care that you pay. Also don’t be more than 5 days late $100 more on your rent. FirstKey is scum

Horrible customer service. Stay away from First Key Homes
Horrible customer service!!!! they are quick to call you back when your getting the place or renewing but anything other than that they will not answer your calls or call you back. You have to call the corporate office on NY and yell at them in order to get any service with First Key Homes. I will never get another property from them and you shouldn’t either. You will be highly disappointed.

Dont rent with these people
Good luck getting any local support terrible experience from start to finish and if you want any kind of maintenance done you got better luck repairing it yourself 3 years later and they still never fully fixed the place. Thank god they are selling my place so i can get far far away had a sewage backup into the carpets and they never came to fix it ended up doing the best i could with rental cleaners. Heres to hoping i see any of my deposit back.

{my opinion} Positive reviews of this company are all a sham. As an example, the Arizona branch is not BBB accredited and has PLENTY of complaint's against them. They are a shell of a corporation owned by “Cerberus Capital Management”. It’s your typical hedge fund buying every family home possible and then artificially raising rent. The mortgage on the home I rent is less than $1,500/month, and I pay about $2,100/month. Zero visibility into their processes, terrible communication practices, and not enough employees to manage the 50,000 plus homes they own.

Worst rental portal ever!!
This portal Is not as user friendly as it should be for tenants. This app should have and way for people to make partial payments, It should provide maintenance request updates and not have to log in to another app to view them. We live in the 21st century things are way more advanced. Should not be charged an addition $9.95 to pay the rent to a property management company that does not offer additional ways to make payments other in full through this app.

Easy to Maneuver, comes with glitches
Everything would be fantastic with the app, however it never displays the correct amount we are supposed to pay. I always have to reference my lease with the company, then add the price of my utilities so that I can pay the correct amount each month. Other than this, the app has no issues.

Colors could be better
The app works fine. The developer needs to evaluate the color choices when making payments. The purple on the black may seem cool, but it is difficult to see when making selections. Suggest making the background a light color with selections dark so it can be seen way easier.

First key homes is terrible
First key homes is terrible at communication. You never get to work with the same representative so there is no continuity and you have to explain any issues all over again with each attempt to fix a problem. They charge you fees with zero explanation and then it takes months to solve issues. Highly recommend finding a landlord that isn’t a big business who doesn’t care about its tenants.

Maintenance Downgrades
Been living in my home for 2 years now and the maintenance system they’ve had in place has always been bad, but has gotten worse. They removed the ability to report damages via the app or phone. When you do make an appointment for a maintenance visit they schedule it automatically without asking what time we are available. Maintenance workers are always very unprofessional and poorly informed about the issues.

Not good
10 out of the 12 months that I have payed through first key, there has been something wrong where I cannot pay. The system being down being the biggest reason. Their response time is awful. Customer service was good but not great. They also charged us more and had to refund us money. Overall, I have had a bad experience with this company and will never rent from them again.

It’s convenient and easy to pay your bill. 3 stars because it has an option to let you make partial payments but when you choose partial payment it doesnt let you… so you are forced to make the full payment right then and there and cant use more than one card to split payment..

Not Roommate Friendly
When we started renting from FirstKey they allowed partial payments so it was really easy to split rent between roommates and then a few months in the app switched to only accept the full bill amount so we needed to send money via Venmo to get everyone’s money together every month which added an extra transfer charge to our monthly expenses. It wasn’t broken, why did they “fix” it?

Fees too high
While the app runs smoothly, the fees to use it are a too high. Nearly $10 per transaction can add up if using multiple accounts. $10 to pay utilities then $10 again a week+\- later to pay rent, just seems like an opportunity to nickel and dime the consumer/user. Especially when that’s the only real way to pay rent and utilities.

Half the features don’t work.
I really want this app to work. Please give it more attention so I can use the features listed. I have a brand new phone purchased within the last year, so I’m sure it’s compatible. I don’t even get notifications for work orders. This has the potential to be so helpful if you get it up to par.

Easy to pay, not submit maintenance
3 stars because I've had multiple maintenance requests not go through or give me error messages and all the other tabs (like community) are empty. Paying from the app is about all this is useful for, but it works fine.

I’m not happy with first key homes, it’s hard to get into contact with anybody that can help. My power has been disconnected because they have failed to pay the electric company here in Carroll county Georgia. I have lid my utility bills they have sent me within one business day of receiving the statement!!!

Just okay
The entire app is eh. One really annoying thing is that you can make a partial payment. I live with my boyfriend and we split rent, but to pay one of us has to send the other our half and that person pays in full. It would be much more convenient if we could both pay our halves in the app.
