Underrated app, but decent
After I thought that I have downloaded all of the payday loan, or cash advance apps. I found this one which I never heard of. The first time I used it was pretty simple but then overtime it kind of got frustrating and every time I needed to request access I had to contact support. The downside of this is that everything is linked to a bank account and not a card so the processing time for you to have access to the money you sometimes have to wait. I also do not like the process to pay back the funds. It’s also linked through a bank account and it’s not instant. It also says you can link up an account through Venmo or cash app or PayPal, but it doesn’t really make sense when you can only see the routing and account number from the Gerald side. I think a recommendation for this app would be an instant transfer and more use of debit cards.

Poor service with limited support hours and drawn out resolution times
Got an email from their service saying approved for an advance (not a pre-approval but it actual approval with a specified dollar route down to the penny). The option to advance. It never showed up in my account even after purchasing their membership. It took their support three days to correct it so that it showed available by account. Even still, when I tried to use their instant feature that they advertised, it showed no options so I reached back out to support who informed me that it doesn’t work with all banks. I would maybe understand that if I used an obscure online or small local bank, but being that I use a large brick-and-mortar bank with over 1,100 branches spread across 11 states, I’d say that’s far from the case. Further, their shady practice of asking me to rate my experience before I even got an answer much less a resolution that I can only assume was an attempt to mitigate me making this complaint now that everything‘s been finalized. All in all I’ve tried a lot of these apps, and I have to say this would rates the lowest. You’re better off, going with their competitors. Dave, Bridget, Albert, Empower, Cleo, and Cash-App have all given me a far better experience in the past. At least they actually deliver what they promise and in a timely fashion. I tried this one because it was recommended to me and and gotta say I could not be more disappointed.

Don’t waste you time
I really should’ve read the reviews before I downloaded this app because this app might be on the list of worst apps I have ever used. The very first time I used it I thought it was going to be simple. Even the first payback was simple. Within the times after that, they want to tell me it takes 1-3 business days for for payback, but then it could take up to 3 to 5 business days OR SOMETIMES LONGER. Which doesn’t include holidays or weekends. I understand the exclusion of holiday is the weekends, but when I’m telling you, my bank says the funds have been released and they have not been rejected how are you going to tell me that you still haven’t received the funds? Then, when I tried to cancel my account, because let’s face that I want nothing to do with this app ever again, I’m told that I can’t cancel my account until the funds have been cleared. Even when I send a screenshot from my bank showing you got the payment has been released you’re telling me you still don’t have a payment? How does that make sense? then, of course, there is no number to call to speak to a live representative. You can only speak via email or chat and the people on the chat could not be any less helpful. This app and everything to do with it, the employees especially are a joke.

Customer service does not help
Final update: After a few weeks of trying to contact Gerald due to an error in their system. I was offered assistance and asked to update my review after the issue was finally resolved. As promised this is an updated review of my experience. The idea of the app is good but the customer service needs to be revisited. Update: while your team has responded after three weeks of trying to contact them, the issue has not been resolved. I assured your team as soon as the issue is resolved I would update my review. I can still not move money to the app to pay the balance but was told it would automatically process tomorrow. If this is the case tomorrow I will be happy to update my review. Thank you. Their customer service does not reply to you. They have bots that send the same generic messages over and over but do not actually help you. I have been trying to contact customer service for 3 weeks. My repayment was scheduled for September 30th and still has not processed because it says there is an error. I have emailed the support team 3 times now in the last three weeks with no reply!!

Possibly the worst app.
I’ve been struggling for weeks to get my account closed or at least unlink my bank account from the app since I have not actually used the apps benefits. I’ve been charged a fee for the services and my account continues to be open. When I initially signed up I thought I would be using it but after encountering countless of technical errors and fallouts I knew that the hassle was not worth the the services provided, i. e very limited amount of services provided. Well what do you know? It’s almost impossible to do anything on the app without it force closing or crashing. Support is non existent. I have emailed the “support team” twice with weeks going by and no response. When you are in the app and try to reach out to chat support you get the same “unavailable” message. It’s almost like it’s done on purpose to prevent you from canceling. It’s probably been one of the most frustrating part of my week. Anyways, I’ve reached out to Apple, working hard to submit enough feedback to hopefully get this app removed from the App Store all together. I believe that Apple has a policy on ethical business practices & unfortunately this app does not align with that.

WORST APP EVER !!!!!
Last year I tried to sign up for Gerald but because I didn’t have an ID at the time I couldn’t create an account. Fast forward a week or two later when my ID arrived I tried to sign up again just for it to tell me I already had an account, which was strange because I didn’t put a password or anything. I reached out to customer service just so I could get it sorted out they managed to delete the existing account and I was told I would have to try back in about three to four months. I tried again SIX months later and it told me there was an existing account under my email and phone number and that I should contact customer service. I contact them and they tell me that my account was successfully deleted but unfortunately I cannot create a new account even though the reason why the account was deleted was so I was able to sign up again and use the app. I let them know that a previous representative had told me to check back in four months and that I would be able to apply but they told me something like that was not possible and that the representative was lying BELEIVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS AND DON’T DOWNLOAD GERALD !!!

Worst cash advance app EVER (DO NOT INQUIRE)
Support team and the developers do not care at all. They take it as a joke. They will send you an automated response. Which most likely be under this review as well. “Please contact our support team and they will be more than happy to assist you.” LOL please do better if you’re gonna run a so called “business” more like a scheme.. well you came to Gerald for a cash advance.. oh you sure will get one, but within 2-3 weeks.. you have to pay for the premium membership and once you deactivate your membership they will not let you delete your account. It says it will take 30 day to delete your account but it won’t happen. They’re lousy and slow with everything they do. You can contact their support team which is probably one of the lousiest teams you will ever come across. They are in no help what so ever. They also keep transferring money from my main bank account to the Gerald bank without my authorization. They’re just making it inconvenient for me to cancel my account. Don’t be fooled. Please stay away from this App!!!! Take your business elsewhere. You won’t regret it!!

Not connecting card
I’ve been in contact numerous times with Customer Service and informed them that my bank account linked successfully with the Plaid service on the app but when it comes time to link my debit card, it keeps throwing error messages saying it’s unable to verify. It wants me to make sure it’s the same card as linked to my checking account. I’ve tried linking my bank card numerous times so I got in touch with Customer Service and a couple times I’ve been told to give it 3-5 days and it should work properly. Then now Customer Service is telling me that my bank might not be supported. Well if this is the case then why was I able to link my account with Plaid???? No issues linking my checking account so now why is it a problem linking my debit card when this debit card is linked to my checking account?? I’m confused on how confusing it is to get this error resolved! Won’t be coming back to this app till all of the bug fixes are fixed or whatever is causing this error issue!!!!

Waste of time
It seems like a borderline fraud. I have them all of my personal info. I don’t get approved for an advanced despite making $95k at a long term, stable job. There’s a verbiage about how their Instant Transfer function isn’t available. The only way I can “earn” an advance is to gain points by playing mobile games. I thought “fair enough”..until I saw the ridiculous amount of time that it would take. You have to literally pass hundreds of levels on some of these games, which would take many hours. I don’t see the option for the subscription, would I would gladly pay for. And then another concern I see is that starting May 15 they force you to pour half of your advance towards some B S mobile contract or online store to order everyday necessities. That’s fine and dandy for some. But that’s not going to help pay my electric bill now is it? Don’t try to fix what’s not broken. It seems like their original way of doing things would’ve worked great. But these changes have broken the service and I regret handing over all my information. Delete.

Awesome app update
Thank you so much for the awesome app update tonight! I finally was able to get my new cash advance which will help me make an additional payment on my credit card so next month the balance and interest will be better. I appreciate all the efforts made to resolve my card verification by emailing as well. I highly suggest having a phone number for customer support and having the option to send the cash advance directly to my debit card so I’d receive it much sooner than later. Thank you again!

Complete waste of time
This is a very fraudulent app. It claims to offer cash advances with no mention of tasks (offers) that must be completed before you can qualify. The app forces users to link bank data before making it known what app really is. Once you link data they tell you they have no way to cancel or delete account. I had to change both user name and password of my bank to ensure that this app didn’t have access to it. The customer service was practically nonexistent, only a chat bot that would allow one sentence statements that looped back to verify users email. When I did reach a Customer support rep they told me there is no way to delete or cancel once you sign up so beware to users. They also advised that if I was unable to sign in to wait 3 days and try again . I was unable to log in at all using chrome desktop, the app safari mobile. It’s very disturbing that Apple allows them on platform and I would caution any user to not be tricked into linking bank data with this or their sister company paperclip.

Unbelievably rude customer support
I have have been having an issue for a week with this app and following prompts by customer support that I assumed was to assist me with my issue and nothing was assisting me. (They were just comfy and pasting responses) Today, the rep basically told me that I can cancel/delete my account if I don’t like it and ended our chat. I was not rude at all, though I was frustrated like anyone else would be. This app is straight trash (they said I had to pay $10 upfront to receive a $30 advance- I thought this was supposed to help in a pinch? Literally every other app has you pay your fee when you pay back your advance) and now, their customer support agent decides to act extremely unprofessionally. I requested a manager (guess my inner Karen is coming out) and now they aren’t responding at all. STEER CLEAR OF THIS SCAM OF AN APP. It’s a joke. Use Dave or Albert. They are way better, more helpful and they don’t make you wait 3 days to receive a small advance that they make you pay $10 for.

Don’t get this it’s a scam
They instantly approved me for $31 which i found odd because every other advanced app will approve you at a rounded up number like example $30 or $40 never $31 that should’ve been the first red flag but so i accepted the advance but in order to accept it they have to run your card which they did and after i got the advanced in my gerald app it would not let me cash out so I spoke to costumer service about it and they told me i had to buy a bunch of stuff from their “shop” which is wayyy overpriced so i told them that it said nothing about spending money in their fake shop and that they need to give me the money and after that my app completely stopped working. I can click on the app but it will just go to a light blue screen and will not load no matter how long i wait. long story short do not get this app it is a scam they just want to steal your card information and all your personal information

This app is terrible they only approve you for a small amount at first then here’s the funny part they making you spend more than half on something you don’t even need then they send you the rest for the advance smh I was approved for 46 dollars which could have went to groceries or something important but no they make you spend 29 dollars minimum of that on a random website they promote and they send you the remaining balance as the advance to your account but here’s the kicker it takes them 3 days to send you the remaining balance cause they don’t offer a instant transfer option only bank transfer which takes 2 to 3 business days but to pay the advance back they have a instant pay option this whole app is a joke try to go to any other loan app cause this one is by far the worse I will be deleting once I repay the advance back save yourself the trouble and stay away from this garbage.

So the only thing that really works on this app is GERALD TAKING PEOPLE MONEY… with no REAL financial assistance …… I don’t understand when I signed up GERALD had no problem deducting the fees for membership. Now I’m actually trying to use your service & every day error messages. This how GERALD does business & operates taking advantage of people in need??? you advertise that the overdraft protection is available to use during emergencies and now here I have been trying to cash out overdraft fees to my bank account FOR THE LAST WEEK!! and it’s saying please connect your bank??????? My bank info and account number are visible on the app yet it’s still giving me the error message. Also, where would you re add the bank info???? As there is no option to do so. The business model of this app is to force you to buy a mobile plan through T-mobile and shop in an overly priced, poorly stocked online convenience store with delayed shipping times. ONLY then, are you allowed to use its other features. I have never seen an app strong-arm its customers like this. Even after you buy what it tells you to, you can’t access the advanced feature. A “bug” will prevent you from actually using it. Using a 5-star rating so that this warning reaches more people. Please stay away from this app, it is a complete bait and switch that does none of what it promises.

It's essentially Earnin and Dave except one million times worse. Everything about the app is janky and just poorly programmed. They want you to take surveys for points toward a boost, so basically you're spending hours trying for points that are not guaranteed for 10 bucks. The fees are ridiculous. 11 dollars plus an optional tip for a sixty dollar boost. Most of the things you sign up for are scam websites fishing for emails to send spam to. This is definitely one of the worst cash advance type deals out there. It barely works, it's not worth the time, the support is awful, it's just trash and I'm surprised it's still around. Watch your butts too because you may notice missing things, just a heads up. 2 stars because, hey, I got 10 bucks when I needed it. Only cost me 3 dollars which is a 300 percent APR. literally worse than a payday loan on paper.

Deceptive!!! Not a Payday Advance!!!!!!!!
Please be made aware that this is not a payday advance as they would have you believe. They give you an " overdraft protection" balance which is only allowed to go toward bills. If you need a payday advance for other necessities, look elsewhere. Furthermore, they charge you a membership fee that you must pay before you even get the "overdraft protection". As soon as I figured this out, I reached out to their "customer service" team not even 30 minutes after signing up for their service. I made it clear that the service that was advertised as an advance that, they were deceptive, and that I already have overdraft protection with my bank and therefore do not want or need their service. I was told that they could not refund me for a service that I have no intention of using! Fraudulent as all get out!!!!!

So many new app updates, still unresolved issues
It’s going to be 2 weeks that my overdraft account shows $0.00, after having an approval of an overdraft advance. I have chatted with reps and they have stated the same thing “Engineers are working on it”. They kept giving me a time line of 48 hours to a week. Nothing has changed. On top of that, Gerald app has charged me the $9.99 subscription fee. Now, knowing that there’s an issue and I still as of yet have not received the advance I was approved of, I get charged. They should’ve waived the fee! But all I get are apologies. Apologies do not pay my bills.

Do not get this app
I downloaded this app thinking I could get a cash advance… I ended up paying them 9.99 and not able to access the “over draft to cash” feature. I keep getting an error message “transaction failed from Network”… so now I’m trying to cancel because it’s not what I expected and now I’m down $10 when I came to the app for help. I have been speaking with the virtual agent who keeps asking me for screen shots so they can fix it when I have told him numerous times I don’t want it fixed I want my money back. Do not get this app if you are in need or fast cash or down to your last. I will be writing a review on every platform and will let everyone who listens know this is horrible customers service. All I want is a refund and we all know it take 5-10 days for the average refund.

Horrible app do not get
So the said I could get up to $215 with all the qualifications which I meet and they only offered me a $33 cash advance after I pay $10 for the subscription. So the reason I got the app was to get money now not to pay money and then have to wait up to 7 days for the funds. Won’t need it by then. Took 45min for them to verify my card took forever to do everything and the app would send an email saying things were verified while I’m in the app saying it was not successful. To many mess ups with this app on the 1st day empower, EarnIn, or Klover are your best bets if you actually need money the same day none of those apps ever give me an issue. And the other apps will do what they actually say not have you pay $10 saying you will get $215 and then offer you $33. Just horrible

After days with no response from the customer support live chat line developers will responds to a negative review just to then tell you to contact another customer support email. An email that’s been a clearly stated in other reviews as useless. Customer support, lacking. App quality, leaves much to be desired. But will they take multiple payments of .77 here and .52 there from your FREE Gerald account on a consistent daily basis. Why YES, yes they will. All the while you can’t actually utilize the app. You can’t disconnect your bank, you can’t verify your card, and you can’t delete your account because it won’t recognize your password. If you like being set up to fail please feel free to download this app. OTHERWISE, save yourself the heartache and frustration. The app is proven trash.

Is everyone over at Gerald technologies’ customer service department is like Juliet then they probably have one of the best customer services and all of business. I emailed on a Sunday night, not realizing that they do not conduct business on the weekends. But I still received a very kind reply by Juliet telling me that they don’t conduct this on the weekends but first thing on Monday she will make sure that this is a priority. and sure thing on Monday she sent me an email back to help me clarify my issue. She was very kind prompt and paid attention to detail. Juliet is good people.

So I needed an emergency advance, but The only way to get an advance with this app is that you have to agree to purchase some cheap razors that are over priced. But that is the only way that they will give you this advance. Not true not true at all! So not once that I agreed to purchase these cheap razors, I figured OK I’ll get my advance now, it says 2 to 3 days because it doesn’t give you the option of allowing it to go onto your debit card. Well it’s been five days and I still haven’t got any advance!And according to customer service that there’s some bugs that they’re trying to fix but yet they’re getting ready to charge me what they supposedly lent me ! 4 packs of 99 cent razors costing me about 25 dollars and the $14 advance I never received!! I’m reporting them to the BBB next!

I have been contacting customer service for almost two weeks. The app continuously took money out my account but wouldn’t let me use my overdraft balance. They told me it was because I didnt meet the requirements which I did. Then they reviewed and said you did and the amount of overdraft allowed was greatly reduced. They were suppose to take the money out of my account to pay for previous overdraft two whole months before it was taken. Although, the app says it won’t take money that’s not there, they did and zeroed out my account. They keep saying they have to contact engineers and I’m guessing what they did was delete my account and won’t fix the issue at hand. DO NOT USE THIS APP! Now my private information is there and I cannot even login.

Inconvenient and unreliable
Initially everything was smooth with my first advance. Then it took a week just for them to process my repayment! From that point in there was always an issue when I try to get an advance! There’s always technical issues with advances not being available and I’m always getting error messages apologizing for the inconvenience! I’ve never missed a pay back and my advance amount even dropped and I have no clue why! I can never get any solid information from “support” and I wouldn’t recommend this app! I can’t even change or replace my debit card on file without sending and waiting on emails! I’m being rushed to respond to emails like I can just sit around and wait. I’ve used similar apps and this is by far the worst one!

Scam! Run away from this app!
Since downloading this app, I have been overcharged and money has “suspiciously” been taken out of my bank account. 8 charges of $100 to be exact. The support team thinks you’re stupid, when in reality, they are the stupid ones. I have been trying to unlink my bank account and they claim it’s because I’ve been approved for an overdraft balance…that balance is $10. Like be for real. This app makes no sense at all, and I’m only posting this review as a warning. I’m in the process of deleting my account, which they claim is how you unlink your bank account, but if money leaves my account again, especially under “suspicious activity,” you all will be hearing from me again, but with legal representatives as well. Think it’s a joke if you want.

App is misleading ! NO ADVANCE was EVER GIVEN
I downloaded the app , completed all the satisfaction requirements to qualify for an advance and the“System “ still has not updated. I have deposited money into my Gerald account and still not having the option to access my own money. Please be aware that this App is not configured to actually help people there are need. I am extremely upset about choosing to deposit money into this account with hopes of receiving an advance. But in reality my money is stuck in this account with no clear direction on how to remove my own money let alone actually use the app for what it’s advertised to be which is an advance for people I need. Do not waste your time and use your last money to try to qualify for some thing you will never get it !

Worst app and customer service
This is by far one of the worst apps I have ever used. I have contacted customer service numerous times about my bank account not connecting to transfer my overdraft protection that I was approved for. They keep saying they will get back to me, but it goes days without a word. It never gets resolved either. I paid the subscription fee almost a month ago, and I have never been able to use the overdraft protection. I essentially paid for nothing. I finally requested for my account to just be closed.

Fraud- No Advance- Don’t fall for Scam
I got an advance but it will not let you use transfer the money to an account instead they want you to use it on dollar store items that have been marked up much higher than the stores. I reached out to support and they said The transfer feature is temporarily disabled due to ongoing testing and technical issues. Unfortunately, we don't have a timeline for when it will be reinstated, but we'll provide updates as soon as we have more information. I have sent sent a message saying I want to cancel it. I don’t want to pay back an advance I cannot use as stated in app description and was told I'm sorry, but once the transaction has been initiated, we can't cancel pending transactions. Don’t fall for it!

Wonderful customer service
I had a problem with transferring my approved amount and when I contacted customer service regarding the issue they were very quick to resolve my problem. They gave me wonderful advice on what to do in order to fix my issue and if that didn’t work they continued to work with me until my problem was resolved! If it wasn’t for their speedy response I wouldn’t have been able to get my advance today! Giving them a big thank you to their customer support team!

This app lets you borrow money but there’s some terms like you need to buy something from their store around $15 before they transfer the money to you. Their reason is; so that you won’t have to pay the transaction fee. I wonder how much is the transaction fee was. The $15 is too much for a person you needs the money. It’s like if you’re approve to get $30 advance loan but you have to buy $15 something at their store so you mean to say I only get $15 and still pay $30 cause I was forced to buy something I don’t need at your store. Why not give us an option to get charge for the fee instead of buying stuff from ur store app. This is not a loan anymore more likely an extortion .

Don’t Waste Your Time!
Took all my information, including linked my accounts which have a consistent direct deposit, and after waiting for the page to FINALLY load it stated I couldn’t open an account. No reason either. I meet all the qualifications and requirements. They basically force you to delete your account after they have already collected all your sensitive information and when you do ask for it to be deleted, they state it will be but not for 30 days. It was a total waste of time! There are so many other apps out there to choose from. As soon as I submitted my information I started receiving spam text messages, voicemails, and emails like every TWO MINUTES. Avoid this app at all costs. Not worth it!!!

Worst of these types of apps please avoid
Please avoid this app. This is easily the worst of apps like this (earnin, dave, moneylion etc). It takes days for repayments to process and if you dont opt for an instant transfer to your bank account then that transfer will take days also. Also recently they have been just randomly processing the repayment BEFORE payday when it said it would. Also I seem to always have to manually pay the subscription instead of it paying on auto. Recently they have also started charging fees to repay the amount you owe. They are very deceiving and will change things without telling you. Recently they changed my repayment date to two weeks sooner then the original date with no notice.

The app needs revamping, it’s unclear what you’ve been approved for with the overdraft since they approve you then suddenly you’re on the “overdraft waitlist”, and it’s also unclear when and how you pay it back. There’s no easy way to reach support and the moment they can’t pull your $9.99 subscription fee, your overdraft is revoked. Most companies tell the customer ahead of time when their subscription payment will renew, and you’re also given a few options to pay back what you’ve used from the overdraft. This app looks more like someone slapped it together and doesn’t care how it works or what the customer is aware of, and frankly for $60 in overdraft, a $9.99 subscription fee is a little steep. Pretty bad experience thus far.

Scam, lawsuits waiting to happen
Do not download this app if you need a cash advance , just like others say before you can get your advance you have to spend over HALF of it on extremely marked up wholesale items that apparently you won’t receive or a very bad mobile plan with only 5gbs of data. They sell a .89 cent stick of deodorant for $4! Yes you read that right over a 300% mark up. It isn’t made apparent you have to spend upwards to $30 something dollars on their junk it’s hidden deep in the fine print. They say this is the solution to not having a subscription but there’s plenty other apps that work just find with no subscription or at least a reasonable subscription. this is just criminal and greed.

Super Confusing
I downloaded this apps and it messed up several times while I was simply trying to create an account. Then when it finally created it, I was told I was approved for overdraft. Then it kept saying I could use overdraft but NEVER explained how. I had to keep searching to find out how to use it and then it said I can convert to cash if I upgrade to premium which I reluctantly did for $9.99. After it INSTANTLY took my money, it told me it still takes 1-3 days for them to give me mine!!! What a joke! I will be deleting this app, there are much more user friendly ones available that don’t con you out of $10 and give you your money instantly.

Worst Cash Lending App Ever
Guys, don’t download this app it’s by far the worst app out there to get money. And why do I say that, easily. It’s because you CANNOT get any funds. We all need help and we go to these apps for a quick loan. With Gerald you won’t receive quick funds yet instead, all kinds of quests to just to even attempt to qualify. They want you to play video games and purchase Chinese junk from their store before you can even get considered for a advance or loan. It’s sad really. In a pinch we need quick funds and this app markets itself as such but it’s the complete opposite. Don’t waste your time. It’s garbage. FYI - Any minute now they will respond with a copy/paste response about contacting their customer support. Lame.

App doesn’t work
So the primary feature of the app like Dave and brigit and other apps of this nature is the ability to borrow money until payday to prevent over drafts. Well apparently since roughly September of last years 7 months ago as of writing this message tech support and it have been trying to “fix” the instant feature and it just doesn’t appear to be happening. Also this app is a subscription app so yes it has a free version but if you pay for premium be prepared to spend your money with out having full use of the app. I only give 1 star so I can give a review I would leave 0 if it were an option as an app that charges you to do nothing would and should deserve.

It’s Okay
This app is great when it actually works. Payments take. Long time to clear and then it says you’ve been approved for overdraft when nothing shows up for days. First few times were good but lately, it’s more hassle than useful. I will say the customer service folks are as helpful and kind as they can be. Just too bad the app doesn’t ever really work all the time. *Update- they reached out a week later to talk about what happened but too little too late, not interested in using this service any longer or ever again due to the lack of response after my original review. Please don’t contact me again. Thank you.

Useful and comes in clutch
I read the reviews before downloading the app I was a little skeptical but none the less I downloaded. It’s been very helpful to me I haven’t really had any issues with it. I’ve had it for 5 months now I only use it when I need to and I get my funds instantly. You do have to pay a fee monthly however but besides that it’s cool and helpful, no complaints here. Also wanna give a s/o to Raemond one of their staff pretty helpful and friendly person.

great app
When first trying Gerald, it was a means to help cover bills with extra emergency funds and get me through the next payday for "what if" scenarios. I haven't had any bad experiences using Gerald; which the overdraft protection is modified based on income from your paycheck. Its a good concept to ensure being able to payback what you cash out so it doesn't affect you negatively. Although not being able to get an advance recently, I look forward to my future advances that I'm qualified to receive.

Underdeveloped App cannot update new phone number
I got a new phone after deciding to give this app another shot. However, I could not get past the phone verification since that number is disconnected and no longer exists. Customer service literally said they have no way up updating my number so when they get updates on when this function will be available, they will reach out to me. Im concerned as to why they cant accomplish this simple and necessary function. How trust worthy is an app if they can't even update important information? Maybe it was a blessing in disguise, but be careful everyone who us using this app.

DONT DO IT
this place is a joke after putting in all of my info including linked bank accounts they say that they cannot make an account for me with literally no explanation. I understand maybe I can’t get an advance but a whole account? The ONLY and I mean ONLY option on the screen that pops up when I login is to hit the button “delete account” I hit that and it says it needs 30 days for review or some madness. Correction, the screen has two options, It also says contact support which I did and they haven’t sped up this process or given me an exact reason why. They did get back to me though not too long after I emailed them. But it’s not instant support and I want my stuff REMOVED

Scam
I do not recommend using this app. Attempting to add my bank was a nightmare. Then, when that was finally handled, I initiated a withdrawal from overdraft and when I checked to see what was going on with it several days later, nothing had been moved or initiated at all. You also cannot remove your debit card even if you add another card (can’t change it from “default”), and there’s no way to cancel service. I tried changing from paid to free membership, but it instead just paused my membership and with the reason being that money is owed. THERE IS NO MONEY OWED, NOTHING HAS EVEN BEEN MOVED. Terrible app, it’s just a scam to get membership fees. There are tons of better apps out there for this type of service.

Scam possibly?
I signed up for the app completely and even verified my bank. Once my account was up and running it said I was approved for 53 dollars. So of course I went through the processes of signing up for the “premium” account which was 9.99. Once I made a payment the app automatically took the charge and then gave me a “I’m sorry we couldn’t verify your information” screen. So it signed me out. I attempted to sign back in and it showed me the same message and gave me 2 options. To delete me account or contact support. It’s nonsense. Why ask me to pay for a plan and and enter all this information just to take 10 dollars and kick me out of my account? I’ve reported it as well.

Bad service horrible customer service
I have been with Gerald for six months and everything was good..a fews hiccups with the techno stuff but always resolved with in a day or so..they just changed there verify debt card tied to your account…now it is horrible !!!! I have been communicating the service dept for weeks !! They always say now ..give us time you are in the queue..horrible customer support..you pay $ 9.99 for full access to app. If you are not able to use for overdraft protection why pay $ 9.99 … I am giving a heads up to everyone that wants to use this service.. buyer beware… I was asked to update still no response with in 3 days the problem has not been resolved …

Was great until all of a sudden I was put on a wait list!
I used this app several times for the cash advance option and always paid it back on time with no issues. Next thing you know my bank account gets disconnected and when I reconnected it I got a notification that I was placed on a wait list and that they would email me once I could get a advance. This was almost 6 months ago and I am still on a wait list. I just don’t understand how I was using the app successfully and now I am on a wait list that it seems like I will never get off of. I really did like this app and it WAS super helpful. I will stick with Dave it has been reliable and no issues.

Support is awful
I had some issues with my account that were not my fault but rather due to the system not updating. It took me 3 days to get proper help with this. In a normal scenario this might be expected but as an app that’s designed to help people with cash emergencies this is unacceptable. The reps would respond and then after chatting for 5 minutes they would stop responding mid convo. This happened 3 times before I was able to get consistent help. If the chat is available someone should be responding. Otherwise just say it’s unavailable. I was able to get the cash. Thanks. But the hassle it took was beyond. It’s not reliable. Need to hire better support reps who want to work.
