Check your app

Please go into the app settings and set you locations and most importantly the notifications timing. I would do a 1hr before. My default setting was set at hailing now. Also sounds has to be adjusted too. Default sounds was set to none. My new truck just got hail damage. So please go through your settings in the app.

A great investment …

My first Hail Protector lasted over 10 years and was one of the first the company made. I used it countless times here in North Texas and I’m pleased to say it never saw one drop of hail - but I don’t care, it felt so good just knowing my treasured motor was well protected out there each time the threat of hail arose. I had to buy a new one those eleven or so years later because some of the stitching and fabric eventually gave way causing too much air to escape for the unit to inflate fully. BUT, I see on my replacement those issues appear to have been fixed with reenforcement in vulnerable areas. You do need to give yourself ten minutes or so to deploy the unit and likewise to pack it away, but if you care about your vehicle and don’t want to be either driving it around with hail dents all over it or dealing with the hassle of repair shops and insurance companies, then this unit is a sound investment.

How to set up Push Alerts

On the main screen, touch the menu button at the bottom right. You may already see your city because of GPS, at the top you'll see the word Locations and a + and - sign. Hit the plus sign and manually add your area to the list. Then go to the push selection screen under Options and the pull down should to show your city and select it. You can also select long duration notifications or short duraction notifications. Sounds 2 and 3 are 30 seconds in duration. Sounds 1 and 4 are more typical quick sound notifications.

Terrible App - Be Warned It's an annual subscription

This is the worst app I have ever used. It does not effectively alert you when hail is imminent in your area. The worst part is, the $4.99 is an annual subscription. If you purchase the app for $4.99, every year on the purchase date you will be charged the $4.99. The purchase shows on your CC statement as GOOGLE*Hail Protector, however when you call the toll free number (which is for GOOGLE), Google cannot find a record of your pruchase, so you are unable to cancel the subscription. Next stop Apple to see if they can cancel this unauthorized subscription. You have been warned.

Where have you been all my life?

Just kidding, but living in North Texas this app is a must have. I love the national map so I can get a view of what is going on overall and the local weather map is better than others I have used. Keep developing the app with more features please!

Needs work.

Great app

Great app if you set it up properly You have to manually enter your location and don't let the GPS select your location then you receive hail alerts I really like the daily hail forecast because you can see a hail storm days in advance

Terrible App

DO NOT TRUST or PURCHASE. App never once alerted me to hail in my area that one time happened to be almost 2 inches, thankfully I had already put my hail protector on my car based on other FREE weather sites alerts. This is a joke and then they want to charge you annually for the horrible app after the first year! Got to be kidding, total disaster and wouldn’t want this app if it was free for life.

I deployed this cover and I really like it. I roll it so I can climb in my truck bed and give it a shove and it unrolls all the way to the front too easy

It has outperformed all other weather apps with regard to hail. It has not been wrong once in the past 6 months

Alerts

I have only had this app for a few weeks. I thought what a great idea, I can put my cover on and when I get a warning I can use the remote to inflate the cover. So far I have not received any audible warnings from this app even during a hail event. If it isn’t improved I will not purchase it at the end of my trial period.

Don't waste your money.

It is hailing outside. I have my app setup to give push notifications in my area. Do you think I got a notification? No. Not before the fact, nor after the fact. I had to run out in the hail and find cover for my new car. I'm going to get my money back for this trash.

Not really seeing that this app works

So far I have received hail everyday almost in my area and I have yet to get a single alert from this app. Even when the app shows there is hail in my area. I get no alerts from the app. I wish it had a current location alert option.

30 Minute warning? HAHAHA!! Joke!!

It was hailing outside for 30 minutes straight. Never got a warning at all. Opened the app to check, NOTHING!! Good thing I care about my car and pay attention to the weather. Had a heads up from The Weather Channel app too. This app is a JOKE!! Don't waste your money!!

The app is worthless!

The actual product seems to work great. This app is worthless. I have free weather apps that work better and notify me more timely. Now I’ve been shut out of the app and it’s wanting me to pay. Nope!

Terrible app for hail warning- useless

It only shows what is happening currently in your area, it is useless, I needed something that would allow me to know before the hail arrives , this only shows current conditions with no future warning.

Straight trash

No kidding the day I downloaded the app (being today) it hailed and I got no warning at all!!! I took my new Hail Protector out of the box and didn’t anticipate using it today based on this app...FAIL!!!! It was only $4.99 but I want my money thieves!!!

There is a section in the app to select your city for Push Alerts. However, there are no cities in the list.

App does not work

The app does not warn of approaching hail. So far I have not seen a single indication of hail despite thunderstorm and hail warnings from the NWS. This includes instances where hail has occurred, still the app indicates no threat. This app is worthless!

Unauthorized subscription

Charged me $4.80 straight to my Apple Card with out letting me know or anything. Thought this was a free app. Beware of scam because it doesn’t show up under your subscriptions list

Horrible service

Can’t renew it but that’s good since it’s pretty much worthless in predicting hail compared to other weather apps that are free.

NEED UPDATES

I bought this protector and it came with Apps. Very limited data available. I hope Hail Protector update the Apps. $4.99a year is stiff.

No alerts

Followed directions to a tee...does not alert. Better luck using the weather.com app, it sends notifications, then I see them in the HailProtector app, it copies those warns, but never alerted me. Don’t think it really works, I followed the directions exactly in set up to pick the location vs using location services and I keep it running for fun to see. Being in WY, I SHIULD be getting warnings all the time, but don’t. Plus, this app has not been updated in FOREVER.
