Great concept, clean layout. Love the home dashboard and can see my balance details at a glance. As others have mentioned, several frustrating bugs. Face ID does not work. Have to manually log in each time even after setting Face ID up. Also when trying to make a payment, screen goes blank white each time. No spinning wheel of death, no timeout message, just nothing, a blank screen where you sit in in perpetual screen purgatory. Not sure what’s up with that - so for now still have to use the website. It doesn’t seem like the app is fully built out. Hope it gets finished.
The app is nice to have on my phone, but lacks simple functionality that should already be built in like automatically logging me in after saving my credentials. It asked me to setup FaceID, but I still have to enter in my login information right after every single time. Not having an option to pay more than the minimum payment is something that was lacking on their site, and still isn’t available on the app. Having to call to pay more on my loan is quite the hassle. Not sure if the lack of an addition amount is a Happy Money issue, but it’d be great to have. Also, my payment history always appears out of order instead of by month, it scared me the other day when I went to double check to see if I hadn’t paid my loan yet and didn’t see it right away.
The aesthetics continue to be clean and engaging but that’s the only thing this app gets right. When I first used it, I made my payment via app and spent the next several weeks receiving notifications from the company that my account was past due. Each time, I logged in to the website, saw my payment had posted and just assumed the app and the account weren’t exchanging information correctly. This past month I began to send extra payments for my account. It lowered my next month’s payment so now the app thinks that my account is up to date and won’t let me pay, even though I still have a balance due for the current month. Again, besides how the app looks, I’ve never had such a frustrating experience with managing a financial account.
The main issue I have with this app is the login process. I set up Face ID, which is supposed to negate the need to manually type out your login information. For some reason, this app makes me do both. An app is supposed to save you time and create ease of access, not add to it. (Note: I’ve tried to delete and redownload the app to see if the problem goes away which didn’t work. If anyone has any remedy for this, please share! Otherwise, it’s a decent app but the login process absolutely kills it for me.
I’ve been waiting for this app for the longest! And the app looks amazing! For it being their first app, it’s better than all my other banking apps. It’s very user friendly. I love happy money, they’ve honestly helped me so much, helped me clear my credit card debt & gave me an amazing rate on my loan. The customer service was also great in answering all my questions.. all good things is what I have to say about this company. I’m glad I found them when I did. Gave me huge relief on my debt. Highly recommended!
Glad to see Happy money app for managing my loan. App is attractive. However the app clearly is not yet done being built out. When viewing payment history I see no break down of interest and principal payments. Only the Total principal and interste paid loan to date are available in the app. App does not show origination or scheduled payoff date. When viewing loan docs, pinch and zoom, scroll, do not work properly to actualy zoom in and read the documents. I had to take screen shots in order to read any of the document. These issues are are the most current version of IOS 15.2, and the iphone 12 pro.
Nothing frustrates me more than a company that makes it difficult for me to pay them. I mean, companies provide services for the sole purpose of getting paid for providing that service … why make it difficult for people to pay you?! I opened an account with Wealthfront (easy to find on the App Store) but Happy Money flat out refuses to recognize them as a bank. Everyone else is more than happy to ACH debit that account with the provided routing/account numbers, but Happy Money is like “nah, we don’t want your money from there”. So I’ve had to open a second account JUST for the purpose of paying Happy Money.
The dashboard shows the total amount that I’ve paid on the dashboard and lists it as ‘remaining principle balance’ instead of actually showing my outstanding balance.
I think the layout and everything is good. It’s definitely easy to pay your loan. The only one MAJOR request I have is to allow payers to change the payment amount. If I want to pay more than once a month, as in, split my payments, I have to call in to do so. Had I known that, I would not have gone with Happy Money as my provider. It’s such a simple thing to program into the app and yet such an annoyance that it would have been a deal breaker for me.
I love that we finally get an app. The app looks amazing by the way. The only issue is the login. I logged in the first time and it asked if I wanted to use Face ID after that. I said yes and it was done. Whenever I close the app though, if I reopen it, it will do my Face ID scan, then it will just go to the login screen where I have to login again. This happens every single time, so the Face ID thing is pretty much useless.
They don’t let you update your payment method until after the first payment. So, whatever account you used to receive the funds must also be used to make the first payment. This isn’t even a legal requirement: it’s an artificial problem where they don’t have it set up in a way to allow for a better experience. SoFi even acknowledges that account holders might need to use different methods for receiving funds and making payments. Be better, Happy Money.
I've used the app for over 2 years and I can't recall iflt ever having problems. Face ID works and it shows my loan progress. Lots of negative reviews but I'm very happy with it, personally. Thank you for the simple interface to track my loan and payments!
I really like the design style.. it’s not cold and unpersonalized like other banking and finance apps. I also like that it shows how my payment is broken down into principal and interest amounts.
Every time I go in to try to make this months payment and click the payment button I get a white screen. Very frustrating … app was working perfectly last month!
I’ve been an user since their TestFlight and was a big fan of their payment options. Would like if we could refinance and if their services tethered to Plaid to connect to fintech like CoPilot.
I got the app a few months ago and it worked great. Linked it to my bank and made my loan payments through the app. Last month I scheduled the payment but it never took it from my bank and I had to email customer service to get my payment processed. This month the ability to make a payment on my loan is no longer in the app. Which makes it pretty useless.
Ever since the last few recent updates it has taken the ability for me to pay my loan off the app completely. So the app is pretty much worthless for anything since there is nowhere to pay. Please fix this issue. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it doesn’t correct anything.
App is borderline useless. It’s good for seeing your up to date balance but that’s it. I’m constantly getting force closes and when it does it never saves my Face ID. The app is a great concept but very limited. Just use a bookmark on your favorite iOS browser and use that instead.
Fill out application, submit required documentation, then proceed to receive emails saying you haven’t submitted all paperwork, receive garbage and non helpful reply from support, loan offer expires. One thing to not be able to handle your business. Wasting people’s time in the process is garbage. App might be nice though
Why is this app so bad? Since the last update I can’t even make a payment and had to login to the website to do so? Can’t make the notifications go away. There’s just a whole blank spot of swipeable nothingness at the bottom? weirdness.
This app never works for payment, nor is it accurate with payment history. The only way to make payments is to use a computer because this company’s website is not mobile friendly—app or safari. Frustrating.
This app would be great, if it actually worked. DO NOT rely on this app to be accurate on your due date or payment history. It will usually not be correct. Great concept but doesn’t provide anything
I got the payment amount to pay it off. I get the animations saying great job and balloons. I log in a few days later to see that I still owe and interest has accumulated as well. This is robbery and bad business. Don’t borrow from them!
I can only make one payment a month of just my standard payment. I can’t make a few payments or pay more than my minimum. It’s very frustrating because I like to pay more than the minimum loan amount.
Every time I type in my credentials to log in, I immediately get an error message, prompting me to sign in all over again. I can’t even get into my account because of this. Please fix it. I would like to be able to try out the app.
This app has so many bugs it’s actually crazy. The screenshots you see in the App Store simply is not how it looks. The sad part: the website is worse.
When I log in, I repeatedly get an error, try again message. It does not work no matter how many attempts. I’ve restarted my phone and deleted and redownloaded the app.
I received a generic text saying my payment date was coming up. But, according to the app, my payments were up to date. I usually pay as early as possible, so well before the due date, so it'd been a while since my last payment...I count on the app to help me keep track. Also, there was no option to make a payment (as per usual, as others have noted, if you've covered your monthly, you have to call to pay additional). Now...the app says I'm behind on payments...while also saying my account is up to date!! It's generating the "Your payment has posted. You're all set!" bubble with the balloons and confetti nonsense, while also at the bottom of the page stating that my bill is past due! This is after refreshing and letting it 'sync my account' several times (which apparently it has to do every time I switch between apps, which is another issue...). This is unacceptable. The app is broken in a way that guides users to make late payments. It's not transparent about when your payment date is until it has passed, so at least you can tell something may be wrong, which feels predatory. Among many other issues with UI/UX noted by other reviewers, this feels like another instance of the app experience setting people, who are trying to get their financial lives in order, up for failure. *Note* - I just wrote this right before updating the app to the lastest version, which dropped yesterday apparently. I've now updated...the issue persists. Just use the website for now, yall, this is a mess.
Like the idea of using the app but it doesn’t even work. Face i.d. doesn’t work every time you try to login. You must use your username and password instead. App keeps showing an old date when it was lasted updated with your balance too. App constantly lags and feels unusable compared to the website. Hopefully this review along with the other reviews of users complaining about the same issues with the app will get you to fix it once and for all.
