This app needs a lot of work and I don’t have the time or desire to go in depth. The could be a lot more functional. It’s very cumbersome to use What happened to the Hoist workouts? None are loaded for the Mi1 but they are there for the V-Express. Two stars for the exercise illustrations. Hope the developers can make the app more user friendly.
I first tried the HOIST Mi6 functional training system at a local fitness equipment store. That’s where I learned about this app from HOIST. I’ve not yet purchased the Mi6 but wanted to try out the app. I’m impressed with the app and appreciate that it’s free. I’m currently using a cheap DIY home gym setup using mostly tension bands and dumbbells. This app gives me a good overview of workouts to consider. No doubt, having an Mi6 system would be much nicer and versatile, but for now, using this app and some home exercise supplies, I can do quite a bit. If you’re on the fence, and considering whether you should spend 30 seconds downloading the free program, I’d say go for it. What’s nice about free apps is that one doesn’t need to rely on reading reviews. It’s easy enough to just download, try it, and decide for yourself if you want to make a further commitment to using it.
Hoist app is for Mi1 ….so what if you don’t have it?
Love the Hoist Mi6 (even though installation manual made me curse several times). But the companion app is a diff story - clunky nav,m, it features videos for Mi1 but the Mi6 and Mi7 are diff machines and there’s no way to switch the app to that. Also, it enables you to add a workout and corresponding exercise but it doesn’t allow you the pick a muscle and then select the exercises (the app does have a muscle to exercise feature but not when you are putting a program together). Also no way for entering reps, weight progression or time. Trainers cannot give you a program that you can collaborate on, also for them to see progress. No means to connect to video to record your session. It is just too rudimentary and needs work.
The app was last updated two years ago and something has changed to make it non-functional. You can selected the exercises and view some of the text but you cannot download any pictures (always says complete but never downloads any that I can find) and the videos never load. Some text is cut off and on my iPad I cannot figure out how to scroll so you really cannot tell what to do. Since the fitness equipment relies on this as documentation I would say avoid it until they update the app at least work. As a base I would just like to know how to effectively use the equipment or better said config it as designed for the exercise I want to do. Beyond that weight tracking, etc. is great but I would like the basics first. * I did find the workouts, they look good (if there was clear images and video for the suggested exercises) * I also see you can enter the weight you lift and track this, which is also great but just need to know what I am doing and that I am using the machine properly first.
I was able to find how to select different exercise machines/equipment. I didn’t see the list initially because it’s pretty much obscured by the Dynamic Island on my iPhone. Click on the three bars in the upper left corner. Then tap on the Hoist name in Orange in the upper mid part of the screen below the Dynamic Island, and then select your machine.
The app functions as a digital poster for what your machine can do for exercises and tried to do a little more by adding a log. A lot of us have Apple Watches for that so it doesn't add anything at all for me. It doesn't say once you click into it what muscles you're working on nor does it offer suggestions for reps and sets which would be super helpful. It leaves me feeling like there is a lot more to be desired.
This app is perfect if you own the Mi1. It shows several exercises you can do on it and tracks progress. It is not a general gym app, so don’t use it as such.
I downloaded app from the website where I tried to learn more about equipment I was using at the gym. App is bare. There are maybe 40 exercises at most limited time the one machine instead of many I use at the gym and not 1200 at all mentioned in preview of the app, and there aren’t any workouts either.
The app has nowhere near the number of exercises that they brag to have. In fact, they only have 13. The illustrations are terrible; some of the wrist positions this dude is in are dangerous. I just downloaded it and I am going to delete it now. This is a joke of an app.
Part of the advertisement of the MI6 is the app. It was disappointing to find that the app only caters to MI1. Even those exercises are limited. I would gladly change my rating if MI6 was added.
Thinking there would be workouts loaded as the app says for the Mi1 but nothing thought it was me not loading the app lost more weight looking for apps so far
I just purchased the Hoist MI7 Smith machine and love it. The app is very poor. Does NOT have anything on it applying to this apparatus! Very disappointed!
I have a V4, but only the M1 is featured on the app. Judging by the app updates and the Hoist YouTube channel, I’m guessing that app/video support is not a priority for Hoist. Disappointing, as the app was a selling point for this piece of equipment.
This app has good info in it to use with many different Hoist machines. It's very helpful so you can use the machine properly . I've seen some issues with it, written to the developers & they've been very responsive to updates. You can export your workout history - I'd like to be able to export my custom workouts & possibly be able to import these back in or have a login that would allow you to save your info elsewhere & then import back in when you change your device.
