Lifesaver

Thank you for providing unparalleled service to help us stay informed with facts. I am a Social Worker and a therapist in our community and am working from home trying to connect with my clients and give them the facts as they come in that will help them to not panic. Social Workers in general do not get included with first responders or healthcare workers so it can feel like a thankless job at times, however my biggest concern is the safety and well-being of those that are vulnerable as well as those that are struggling to make sense of the world we are now living in. I have not seen anything on Social Workers and March is Social Work Month celebrating 65 years of helping people. It would be nice to be recognized as a profession that is also on the front lines. Thank you for all your doing to give us honest information that is up to date.

Fix the weather Dept

I enjoy the local coverage provided by KTVB with the notable exception of “Idaho’s Meteorologist” Rick Lance. If the management of the station would take the time to listen to any one of Lance’s presentations and compare it to any of the other weather people, there would be an immediate change. Every one knows temperatures drop at night and no one cares what the temp will be to the nearest tenth of a degree at 4:00 AM. I exaggerate but the verbal delivery of untold weather minutia with an expression reserved for a mass shooting, is not what people want to hear. We all want an idea of the general conditions coming and the temp range within around five degrees. All the minutia is a total waste of time Come on, KTVB - it is time to move on. Duthey is very good and Eggers is wonderfully refreshing and both deliver what we want to hear - not a bunch of useless BS.

KTVB RATING

KTVB is my favorite station. I cannot watch any of the other local stations. I loved Dee Sarton, but I have learned to love Kim Fields just as much. I love Mark Johnson, he’s a hoot and so good at what he does. Rick Lance is great, Jim Doothie also. Brian Holmes is another great newscaster, he can do the news, jump from that desk and then into the weather forecast. He is also great and can certainly multi task. Then there is my sweetheart Bri Eggers, she just amazes me. A little secret I can understand her when she is speaking. The rest of the staff is also worthy of praise. The morning staff is also awesome, I just don’t get up early enough to watch them. I’m Retired!! Keep up the great work!!

Great app for a great news station & source!!

I will not watch any other local news station for Idaho news…and I prefer KTVB over national news’s outlets in some cases too!! The app is better than national news apps too! Easy to navigate and notifications are reliable. I have a friend in CA watching the UogI murder story closely and I send her the link to a story update saying “ KTVB is pretty much the primary news source in Idaho...good app to follow and sign up for notifications too...that's how I got this one... of course there are other sources...but KTVB tends to be the main news source for Idaho...if you were interested 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️”

App keeps getting stuck when trying to load stories.

I have been using this app for years, however in the past 3 weeks to a month I have had to delete app on my phone 3 times due to it getting stuck (like buffering)on loading stories. I waited forever for it to download the story, closed back out of it and reopened it and it was still stuck. It is not my phone, because it doesn’t do it on any other app.

Only use it for notifications

Notifications from this app are good. Don’t bother opening it though, because it’s an ad-infested hot mess. Scroll bars go up and down in the middle of the articles...that simple issue on its own took over a year to fix. Want to search for an article, topic, or anything at all? Nope. Not here. It’s just a janky format overall. If I was this news channel, I would breach my contract with this dev and search for something better or make my own because this is not a good look for KTVB. Plus, that would allow me to focus on other things, such as the constant misspellings and grammatical errors in the articles. Anyone ever heard of spellcheck or Grammarly?? Good thing that Edward R. Murrow award doesn’t rely on decent grammar.

Review of KTVB Online News Feed

I typically do not watch the news on TV as I prefer the online format. For the most part it works. However, many times the online source is repetitive, often days at a time. This may of course occur due to this online format. I especially enjoy the verify portion often discovering answers to issues I have crossed. Even though the online feed falls a little short in my opinion, it is typically the one I gravitate to. I enjoy the reporting and anchor staff at KTVB. They have been my number one source over the last 37 years.

KTVB Good except for relentless ads

I’m enjoying streaming KTVB news in the morning, but the same ads play every time and it has become like torture. I have to turn the volume off on my phone when they come on. The one about Mom Squad is the most offensive. Then the one with the music playing “Never gonna let ya go” Please, please, please change the commercials! There are also way too many! But at least just get some new ads. Otherwise, I like the newscasters and the weatherman. It’s a good program. Thank you for having this survey.

National news biased and inflames Discord

I quit watching Lester Holt after 19 days of him showing Floyd getting killed. They were burning our inner cities. After three days you switch to positive ways you can deal with the problem. Outlying that particular chokehold, increase training for the police officers. Punishing the particular police officer involved. Voting for the people that stand for what you do. Not 19 days of getting people flamen hot mad

“UPDATING”/CHANGING APP TOO MUCH

I actually removed the app about a year ago, because of the constant changes. I just recently reinstalled it again ➖Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. If KTVB had been a better information source for the latest news, I could have overlooked the constant changes to the app. I was hoping that when I reinstalled the app, the latest news issue had gotten better. It has not. I cannot rely on KTVB to get important info that I’ve heard about “through the grapevine”. BTW, I do not have cable or satellite service. So I have to get information online. I think if KTVB put as much time into updating the latest news, instead of updating the app, this app would be the greatest.

Too many adds

I enjoy reading the news stories and staying up to date every day. What I dont like are all the ads and links that pop up. Many of them are inappropriate. It’s frustrating having images constantly pop up that are links to gossip or fake news, while I’m trying to read real news.

Hasn't worked properly since overhaul

App crashes often when trying to read a story. Constant loading of ads means the story text (when the app doesn't crash) shifts down the page repeatedly, so when I'm trying to scroll down, sometimes the place where I've placed my thumb suddenly becomes the middle of an ad and now I'm opening a new window because I've inadvertently clicked into an ad window. The organization of the menus is frustrating and "back" doesn't take me back into the list I was in, but back to the top of home every time. Not terribly user friendly or efficient and clearly pretty buggy.

Violates Apple do not track policy

You are intentionally violating Apples new do not track policy. You present a screen that appears to offer the ability turn tracking off however it is on by default and CAN NOT be selected to not track. Confirmed on 3 different iPhones so not a glitch! Also, you are told you can come back but there is no way in any settings in the app to change it. Luckily, the user should be able to adjust this globally on each phone. The final straw is your “do not track” notification is custom. Apple doesn’t allow that. You must use their system designed one. This is done so app developers can’t do exactly what you have done. All of this on top of the glitches with each update. The late/old stories, all this appears as though KTVB doesn’t care about local journalism. I think the truth is the people at the station care but the corporate entity doesn’t.

Channel 2 app is better

I look at your news app last because it doesn’t have the most updated or all the news that channel 2 has. Take a lesson from them. Also, sports seems to dominate your news when some of us would prefer to know more about regional or national news.

Accurate and true to time.

Channel 7 alerts and news updates keep me informed rather than having to watch a 10 o’clock news in the evening. I stay informed with all current events with all their significant highlights without having to get to saturated into redundant news

Broken Notifications

This app is great for getting local news and weather, but insane to obnoxious with notifications. It completely ignores your topic settings and continues to deliver notifications on stories I couldn’t care less about. All I want are weather alerts and the occasional local story. Instead, I get the news notification equivalent of spam. For now, I have disabled notifications entirely for this app until this issue is fixed.

Love the KTVB App

The app makes it so easy to see important information and it makes it easy to see where storms are and where they’re heading. I use it on a daily basis. Getting the notifications for breaking stories about what’s going on in the state, keeps me informed while I’m out and about. I love this app!!

Serious Issues with loading

This app is great for news around the Panhandle State of Idaho. I put can customize the stories you’re most interested in. However, the app has had serious issues lately loading. It will work for a day and then the next it won’t load anything. It just spins and never loads, even at the highest internet speeds. Consider fixing these bugs soon.

Typical local “news”

I’m not a fan of the new app layout, I just want all the headlines for the day laid out in a row like the old app. Having to pick a topic to find the stories is a bit annoying. Also a little less BSU and a little more actual area news from the station in general would be welcome. We don’t all live in Boise and we don’t all care in any way what the college teams are doing (it’s hard for me to stress these two points without swearing).

Difficult to navigate

I want the old app back!! No traffic report, the radar is useless, it’s really difficult to navigate the news. The “old” news is on the app for days, and, any new alerts take a several hours before they appear on the new app. Please revise the app so that it is user friendly.

KTVB is the 1st Place I Go For Local News

The only place I go for local news. I do get frustrated when all the news stations fail to report on important issues like the recent raid at Hometown Motors in Weiser. You should be protecting the consumer not the advertiser. Other than that you rock.

Very disappointed

The old app was a bit glitchy and crashy for me and when this one came out I was excited for no more crashes or slow loading. But man am I disappointed in the app. This morning I opened it only to find that it won’t load. I can’t see the weather, articles won’t load for me, and the layout of everything is just frustrating! So KTVB do us all a favor and hire a local and professional app developer to fix this and give the community a quality WORKING app instead of hiring some tech giant that just wants your money.

Love KTVB!!

I have enjoyed this news station since moving here in 2008! I have Dish so I miss your smiling faces every morning .. early evening and late night !!! I got the RCA free channel but that is hit and miss more misses though. I try to see it on my phone but even that is a challenge with family .ya all are awesomeness!!! KaTy

2 things would make it better

1; Way too many ads. Hard to actually read any story, because the ad will change the position of the story, and you’ll have to scroll to find it. Every time. 2; Despite our local region being far more conservative than not, I’m seeing way too many liberal slant stories that have no place here. That’s the networks fault. Whomever works on the app needs to fix the format.

Not user friendly

I have always enjoyed KTVB as a news station. They’re not only good as a local station, but they can sometimes give national stations a run for their money! That being said, the app is horrible. They need to fire the developer, scrap it, and start over. It’s not user friendly in the least, and it’s just plain frustrating to navigate. I just want to click on a category and see news reports. I don’t want to have to select favorites and navigate my way through them in order to find a story.

Hard to navigate

This app is useless too me. So hard to use, you scroll down to read an article and an ad pops up and moves what you want to read down or up. Very hard to find anything!!!! I love KTVB news, but will not be using this app.

Biased news coverage

I have been reading the articles on KTVB for a number of years now. While there has always some left-leaning bias, it has become very obvious that they strongly support Democrats and the like. I turn to the news for objective information but the stories on KTVB have become increasingly subjective. I’ll be deleting the app and looking for a news cast that can give a more objective approach to sharing the news.

To much marketing/click bait all over the place

I really value the news and local stories on the Website and and App for my phone. That said, I really wish the news content was separated from the ads and all the click bait material. Even if you were able to able relegate it a specific area on the page. The way it is now, it is very disruptive to reading the news and local stories. Thanks for considering my comments

Wasted my time writing review and no way to send

I wish the people that put the articles in here would proof read it before submitting. Only to check for proper spelling and word placement. Like the articles , sometimes confusing. Thankyou

Great content, mediocre app.

App used to be better. The ads take over my screen more and more. The app likes to freeze if you click on a banner notification and try to jump from the linked article back to home. If I click out for one second, then come back it resets to top. I will keep using it anyway, but it functions worse than any other app I have or use.

From North Idaho and I watch everyday

I am from Coeur d’Alene and watch what is happening in our Capital and beyond everyday online. With all the big updates happening I check in with 7 several times a day. They give alerts on their App every-time there is breaking news.

CBS 2 is Better

I have been using this app for years and have always been frustrated with it (it was good a few years back). The same old stories stay on the newsfeed for weeks, searching is impossible, and where is the traffic?! Layout is overall awful. Love KTVB but the app is just not good. Just downloaded the cbs 2 app and it seems to be way more user friendly.

News is news

I have had the KTVB app for many years. I stopped watching it when Dee Sarton retired. Dee’s professionalism couldn’t go unnoticed. When news about Covid-19, and other political news wouldn’t tell the truth, I had enough. When people’s opinions about President Trump became more important than telling the whole truth, I quit watching it on my tv. I’ll check out the app for any local news but I don’t watch it much.

Love Chanel 7

I love channel 7 news because everything seems so real to me there’s no beating around the bush. The reporters are very sincere and caring. I feel like I get a good truthful news that’s to the point without all the garbage added. Thank you channel 7 for all of your hard work!!

I though the app couldn’t get worse but here we are

When KTVB switched the app over to their current news obfuscating, click-farming format, it was bad enough. Now you can’t read an article without flashing news ads bracketing the top and bottom of every paragraph of every article—it’s become unreadable. I use this mildly infuriating app 20% of the time I that used to spend on it. It’s a shame that a formally reputable valley news station has quickly turned into a bad joke without a punchline.

Getting Better

The KTVB app continues to improve! Would give it Five Stars, however it is still difficult to navigate to specific items. Would be nice to have a drop-down with alphabetical listing off all contents in one place linked directly to that event.

Difficult to use

The new app has limited stories on the first page, scroll past those and click on anything and try to go back it brings you all the way to the beginning. Scrolling through is a time waster and frustrating. It’s also difficult to find the different categories of stories. Using the app is cumbersome which then just leads me to going elsewhere to read news. Not to mention there is more advertising than actual news.

Terrible

This app is horrible. Worse than the last. Crashes constantly. Can’t even finish a single article before it crashes. Happens when you scroll. Probably just going to have to rely on channel 6 app for my news.

App no longer operational

I have used this app for years with no problems. Recently every time I open the app I get a screen that says the next screen will ask my permission to personalize ads. That would be fine but the next screen never appears. I can’t access the news or give my permission for personalized ads. The app has become useless. I uninstalled it and downloaded it again but get the same results.

Faster news stories

Please keep this app updated quickly as we check in on it frequently throughout the day. Weekends as well. There is new news on the weekend and it’s disappointing to open the app to see Wednesday, Thursday and Friday news still there on Sunday with no updates on what’s happening. Thanks!

It’s a swing and a miss.

Back to the drawing board, people. I only downloaded it because you disabled your previous app. By the way, not cool. I’m very disappointed in the replacement that you have put out. It freezes constantly and is completely unusable. I don’t have time to deal with that so I will be looking for an app from one of your competitors that will allow me to actually read LOCAL news articles. In the meantime, I really do hope you get this fix and functioning properly.

KTVB & the 208

There was a time that at 5:00 pm I would change the channel because this half hour contained no local news. Then about a year ago along came the 208 with a host who was made for this program. Brian deserves a raise and an award for bringing me back. We love this program! Dennis & Debbie Cummings

I check KTVB app many times a day. I look at the news, weather and follow the covid-19 information several times a day. I post searches for children and adults on Facebook.

Scott Slant

Scott is one of the gems of the Gem State. He has accurate insights and the historical perspectives that no one else in the state possesses. Jay Tust may become a Tom Scott someday, but Scott is the guy. He is pro-Boise, and pro-Treasure Valley, but with realistic takes and expectations. I aways learn something from reading his column.

App keeps freezing since the new 14.2 iOS.

I believe there are other issues that need re-worked such as how articles scroll into endless ads at the bottom of articles. How about adding functionality, such as live traffic updates.

Best new around!

Even as a Montanan for be last 5 years, I like to know what’s goin on back home! There is no news broadcasting channel that will keep you more informed. The KTVB app is incredibly useful also!
