Local Flavor - Deals & Coupons

It was Mother’s Day weekend and my S/O was out of town. I went to watch my grandson play soccer. I thought that it would be fun to have him overnight and we can get some dinner out somewhere. That somewhere ended up to be Crab de Jour located in the Hamilton Mall. In Mays Landing NJ. I went on local flavor I purchased a $15 for $30. It’s so much fun to spend time with My Grandson he’s the 3rd to oldest of 10 grandkids 9 are boys. He’s my Numero Uno and that’s a big reason why I still live in New Jersey. We ordered snow crab clusters and 1/2 a pound of shrimp. By the time I peeled the shrimp ( the shell and legs) he had started to eat over 1/2 of the crab so we ordered more. The $30 coupon was very helpful. It’s very easy to get the deal you add it to your cart enter your CC information and they email the certificate. I keep mine on my phone. Most places will have you redeem it others want to scan it. Of course I tip the amount of the full bill because it’s the right thing to do. It saved me $15 which was great every little bit helps!

In general, the app works well. My issue with the app is the confusing way that my certificates are loaded in my wallet. On Groupon and Living Social they are listed by the purchase date with the option to have them displayed by the expiration date. I’m always using their apps by showing the expiration date in chronological order. That way, I can make sure that I use a voucher before it expires. On the other hand, I can’t make any sense of the way that Local Flavor does theirs. My complaint about the company is that they don’t notify the customers about a closed business or discontinued deal. I just drove over an hour one way to meet a friend and use a certificate in her area, only to find the restaurant out of business. The business next door said that it had been closed for over a month. Guess what? Local Flavor is still selling certificates for that closed restaurant. Customer service has always been great whenever I have been lucky enough to get a person to answer the phone. Voicemail and email have never been responded to. I’m going to be calling every restaurant before I leave the house to make sure that they’re open and still accepting Local Flavor certificates. I suggest that you do the same. One last thing, if you don’t want the server to take your phone, print out the certificate and give it to the server.

I use local flavor deals often. It’s awesome to be able to buy twice the amount of food for half the price. I’ve been introduced to various establishments by using local flavor which has been nice for exploring new options. Using the local flavor purchased certificates has been easy to do. I have had a few challenges when establishments close their doors before I’ve had the opportunity to use the certificates that I may have purchased, but in those instances I’ve been reimbursed by customer service with a credit. I would like it if they had a more accessible customer service department. It is set up so everything is done using email correspondence as opposed to being able to speak directly to somebody by telephone. Overall, I really like using local flavor!

If you like couponing and saving money just like I do, this is NOT the app for you. I have been using Local Flavor for a while and loved it. They do have many great deals to offer. Unfortunately, when a small problem arises they fail to solve it. I bought two certificates for the same restaurant. When I went to redeem the one certificate, it said “already redeemed.” I had just bought this certificate so there was no possible way. The waitress and I then opened up the other certificate and the same thing happened. The page glitched and then said “already redeemed.” The restaurant told me that there was nothing they could do but contact the company I purchased them from. I contacted Local Flavor and they told me that I “definitely redeemed them and that I needed to take it up with the merchant.” They have continuously denied the fact that it is an error on their part and will not refund or give me my certificates back. So now I am down two brand new unused certificates and the money I paid for them. If you don’t want the same thing to happen to you, stay away from this company. It is very disappointing and unfortunate that their customer service team would not work with me and make things right.

I was absolutely amazed how good this app was going to be so I purchased two separate coupons for a specific amount. I’m not happy with the way that the waiter handled my experience. Being my first time using I asked him if they honor the coupon he said yes. I placed my order and I pay for my food WITHOUT BEING EXPLAINED THAT MY MEAL COST WAS NOT THE FULL AMOUNT OF PRICE OF MEAL SO I LOST OUT OF MY MAIN REASONS FOR PURCHASING THE COUPON. I paid $10 for $20 worth of food and I gave him my phone and he accepted the coupon and I asked him about ordering another sandwich since I had enough money left over and he said no he closed the coupon! I said how about the rest of the money I should have spent he said oh well! I replied there GOES your tip. NOW I KNOW THAT I MUST ORDER THE FULL AMOUNT OF COUPON LEST YOU GET RIPPED OFF. I paid more for this coupon than the meal was! You made out good on that one! I on other hand learned that the hard way. I will still use other coupon but wish I could have ordered another sandwich since I realized it and he could have helped me understand how it worked!

I use that app to view and purchase my vouchers. I have had trouble printing from my phone so I do that from computer. I would rather not hand my phone over. Never had a problem with getting a refund for businesses that choose not to honor or have closed. I use the “chat” option online. Only once was there no response to my request to chat for the amount of time I had available. My only wish is more businesses used this to bring business in. Some are very pleasant and continue to offer deals on Local Flavor and others only do it once and complain each time I use the voucher saying there is no money in it for them. Oh well, I am not a patron of those business any more.

I like the app but recently I had a issue with it. It showed the item available, I tried purchase ot , was charged and reversed. If it isn’t available then don’t have it show up. Now, this week I was able to buy the item and it maxed out at 5 for that one item. This is understandable but can you tell me what that means? Does it mean 5 in a week or a month? Does it mean if I use 2 then I can buy 2 again for a max of 5 in my wallet ? Kudos to your app as far as advertising goes because it certainly did and does bring us to that specific restaurant as we had a favorite bar we had been going to for years but this brings us into this place. It also brings us in more often because we will stop in and eat instead of cooking at home. Thank you !

Not sure why Local Flavor tried to write my review for me, but I had to erase it to write an authentic one 🤨. For what they offer, and I wish it was more, Local Flavor is excellent! We get to go to the area trampoline parks for half off, so we’re also able to bring my kids’ friends. One piece of advice — tell the restaurant at the beginning that you have a Local Flavor, but rest assured you'll tip on the original amount. Otherwise, you may get not-so-great service. I love that we get half off, and I especially love the extra 25% off days!! I’ve recommended several people to this app.

The deals are great (50% off), but the variety has certainly decreased the past few years (really since COVID). I find less and less deals around me, so do I really want to travel 20 miles to save 10 or 15 dollars. Also, more and more merchants are refusing to honor the deal even before it expires. I have been a customer of local deals for many years. I enjoy viewing the site several times a week, but with the small margins restaurants have now to make a profit, less and less are participating. I will continue to buy but I cannot keep expanding my radius of driving to save a little bit. Thanks for listening.

I enjoy Local Flavor so much!! It has introduced quite a few new local independent/small businesses!! When I tell you that my husband and his pockets are enjoy these savings!! He even will ask me “hey you got a coupon for this?” Or “It would be good if you had a coupon for this or that!” 🤣🤣 I’m pulling him in! Men and husbands nothing is wrong with a coupon or saving money!! Women do it all the time!! Try try try local flavor! They even have discount codes on the discounts! The saving are endless!!

I am glad to know that one customer did receive a refund when she found LocalFlavor about the closing of a restaurant where she had purchased the coupon. However, I don’t know that number to call. I was very dissatisfied and not being able to get a refund in the past. I emailed about wanting a refund at least twice and never received a reply. The lack of customer service has caused me to buy more restaurant coupons from Groupon rather than from Local Flavor. I don’t like for the restaurant owners take my phone away from the table when they except the Local Flavor coupon. Otherwise, I have use Local Flavor coupons for many years and have saved a significant amount of money.

Beware that many businesses don’t honor these (Example-Il Forno in Deerfield, Illinois). My husband purchased one through local flavor and they kept saying it had been used (which it had not). Lao also flavor checked and it looked like it was “used” the evening and exact time we attempted to use it. We kept our receipt showing we weren’t given our discount and that we paid the full amount, but we had no recourse. That was the last time we purchased anything through Local Flavor. It’s unfortunate, because we both have the app and have used it many times, but now that I know we have no recourse for being compensated when a vendor is dishonest we definitely won’t be using it again. Basically, if you’re willing to roll the dice to throw money away this can be a good deal. I’m not willing to that.

The Local Flavor app is easy to utilize to save money at restaurants you would normally visit as well as introducing you to new ones at a discount. I definitely check Local Flavor for deals on a regular basis, get notifications when my favorite restaurants offer a special, and utilize the app when checking out. So easy to use, who wouldn’t take advantage as this modern-day restaurant discount/coupon book you used to purchase in book format annually.

I love using local flavor. Pretty much the only way I go out to eat. If my wife and I are hungry and want to go to a restaurant will go to local flavor first and see what we have in our wallet or buy a new one on the spot. You can’t go wrong getting food for 50% off. My only issue with it is at least five or 10 times after buying the deal we would arrive at the restaurant and they would be closed down and not in business anymore,Or say they no longer except local flavors, at least twice this happened after we’ve eaten and I had to pay in full.

It is so awesome that you can go places with so much respect and dignity. Using the special promotions that each place is giving; enjoying life to the fullest at a high level. Please take full advantage of these special offers while each of these businesses give their all to make sure you very happy at each measurement. The Local app is actually right now, the best thing going to enjoy great things in life without breaking the bank.

App continually shows deals or coupons that “are no longer available” once you click them or try to purchase. We may be making a decision on where to go or eat based on seeing the coupon or deal availability only later to find out it’s not actually there. Also, many coupons have 2018 expiration dates and are still displayed and available to “clip”. Unsure whether these would be accepted at a place of business. Frustrating app lately. And worst of all, I can’t find anyway to contact them through the app despite there being a “contact us” page. It just takes you to FAQ’s and articles...You can’t have a business without customer service.

We have been fans of Local Flavor for years. The website is so easy to use and we have never had a problem redeeming a voucher purchased on line. Local Flavor has given us the opportunity to try new restaurants and business services that we might have overlooked if not for the discounts. We have discovered some of our favorite restaurants and businesses through Local Flavor both locally and while traveling.

I loveeeeee local flavor! I’ve discovered so many new places because of its diverse selections. Saving $10 off $20 is music to my ears so I check the list in my area frequently for great buys. My only complaint is not receiving notifications I toggle for when businesses have new offers are available. Every time I’ve asked for a refund or store credit for a closed business, I’ve gotten it in a timely manner.

I have tried to contact Clippers regarding an offer I purchased but have not gotten response. I purchased an offer for bowling, when arriving at facility I was told I could not use it at that day and time even though there were no restrictions written, besides no double discounts which I was not. Since I could not use that I requested to buy a pizza using the coupon “Friday 5-7” (not sure on time but I was there during the correct time), I was very rudely told “No Clippers Coupons at this time”. I pointed out the specific day/time advertised. She took my phone and brought it to the manager (who was bowling) and spoke awhile. She came back and reluctantly honored it.

I bought $100s of dollars worth of certificates whose businesses closed or were closed during the pandemic. Local Flavor would not extend the dates or offer me an exchange so I lost all these coupons. I wrote them several emails with only one reply, and called them dozens of time with no return call. They do not answer their phones. The email told me, “ We have all suffered during this Pandemic. We will not extend the dates or offer a refund or an exchange.” Customer Service. Well, this is a terrible business and I’m sticking with Groupon or Living Social. Local Flavor can go F* themselves, they lost my business forever! It’s good to know who to trust during difficult times. Not these A*.

I used to purchase many restaurant deals from local flavor and they were from many restaurants that were or became some of our favorites. Nice, quality places. Recently —last year and a half or 2 years—seem to be almost exclusively places you grab a bite on a weeknight. Where is general do carry out. Since most of the offers don’t include carry out you really don’t save that much. Also the seals seem to run out faster as well. Wish they could back to what they were offering two or three years ago. I now use more coupons than deals from here.

Local Flavor is amazing! We eat out a lot and with Local Deals we are able to do it. The saving we get on a weekly basis allows us to have date nights at least 3 nights per week. If we did not have the Local Deals we would go out once. Some of the restaurants that are on the app sells really good food. It’s such a great deal that I won’t look at no other apps. I am spoil and have a hard time buying anything at wholesale prices.

please don’t sell me certificates to more than three, maybe even four places that are out of business. it is challenging to get a reply, much less any meaningful gesture of financial compassion. you should also make it easier to get to our certificates. the default purchased certificates, are buried in a menu; people want access to them faster and smoother. maybe a visible shortcut button on the main page would work well. …please please please make it default to the expiration date rather than the purchase date because anything else isn’t relevant in the flow of the moment while trying to plan and pay and drive. also, why on earth can’t we just tap on an address or menu link? right now we have to go copy and paste addresses, and copy web addresses and paste and search what should be right there in a clickable link. obviously…

I have bought coupons in the past and have always bought them Wednesday morning at 8 am. All of a sudden they have been going on sale at 12am Wednesday morning . When I have called and asked I have been told that on eastern time zone they are suppose start selling them at 8 am Wednesday morning not 12am . What is the problem

I was going to use my food certificate that I purchased via local flavor app and saw that the business was closed for business. It was well within my expiration date so I let them know I wanted a refund or credit to purchase another certificate. Local Flavor did not give me a refund or credit, just silence... no response. App is not useful to contact Local Flavor, in fact no phone biker that I saw and no response back via email. Thanks for nothing Local Flavor and Groupon (I believe they are part of the same company) very bad customer service, some would say robbery.

I have some vouchers I purchased before covid. My family has high risk factors so eating in a restaurant just can’t happen at this time. I am unable to use my vouchers for take out since they did not have a take out option when purchased and cannot get a refund. In such unseen and unprecedented times we all need to do things a little differently and there wasn’t even consideration to try to find a solution. Going to give away my certificates and delete this app when they are used. Anyone considering purchasing vouchers beware, we know covid will be around a while longer, probably best to wait until it’s over.

I have used twice in last one month. I have observed that every time, you will show the certificate, the waiter will take your phone from you...in today’s world someone will ask my phone, that to unlock ..I am very much uncomfortable ...also today one of the restaurant waiter wrongly pressed the redeem certificate button after taking away my phone and then he came back and asking sir did you use this certificate earlier ...I was so furious...and I cannot revert back ...then the manager came and said they will consider it .so in other way this is one of the worst app ever ...never use it ..or take a print out (old fashioned) ...

Unfortunately I am sitting on quite a few coupons that I am not able to redeem. The expiration date apparently was extended, however I was hesitant to enter restaurants until after the Christmas potential covid outbreak. That being said, I have coupons that are only valued at the purchase price. Other than that I have always been happy with Local Flavor and use it often!

I have used these certificates for years now and had few problems with them until now! They will not respond to questions or issues with certificates and they are selling certificates for businesses that have not opened for months! I’ve emailed..called..even called the business to no avail! The business stated that they do not receive any money from these and that LocalFlavor will not answer their calls either! I will request a consumer fraud investigation into their business practices and am reporting this to the Better Business bureau on Monday. If anyone else has experienced this, you should too!

I give it one star because I spent money for three certificates for Blondies hot bagels and within the same week that I bought $60 with certificates, they went out of business and are nowhere to be found. I am now out the money that I spent to get the certificates. This also happened with the Mexican restaurant in Fishkill. They put a sign outside their door stating they would not accept any certificates or coupons because they were selling to a different owner. Again, this was a matter of days that the certificate was purchased. Buyer beware

Have had many opportunities to try new places at a great savings, even my new hair Salon in Gilbert. Been using Local Flavor for many years and refer this app often to Friends. When we go traveling we explore the options on Local Flavor as well. Very pleased with the selections and variety from Food to Entertainment we enjoy this App.

I like the way local flavor has arranged their coupon and Deal Purchase system. Very straightforward. Hope other businesses will take the opportunity to use this portal to provide disability to their business and opportunities for us customers to get good deals.

How could anybody rate Local Flavor less than five stars? Even if I only found one deal in my life, it was a deal I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. Of course, I’d like to see more deals for restaurants I go to, but what I do find here makes me very happy. My one complaint is the limited number of cities, so most of my friends in other places can’t enjoy the deals.

Excellent way to buy coupons and shop/eat local on the cheap! If a business goes out of business before the coupon expires, they’ll give you your money back. When they have them midnight sale, get those coupons when you can, because your favs will be gone!

I’ve been using the local flavor coupons for over a year now. I’ve saved well over $300 by using the half off deals. I’ve been to pizza shops restaurants establishments and everyplace has honored and accepted with no problem. Definitely enjoy using them. Almost the best thing since apple pie (lol)

I use Local Flavor all the time to try out new restaurants and go back to my favorites. I never have any problems. I like the selection of restaurants. Thanks local flavor for giving me the chance to try new restaurants and go out to eat without having to take out a loan.

I have purchased many of the deals in the town I live in as well as surrounding towns every time I try to use one of my deals/coupons. The places often refused them don’t acknowledge them have somewhat of an attitude, some even say no I’ve had to pay out of pocket. The local flavor app makes it easy to keep track of the wonderful savings I make through LocalFlavor. I simply click on “Wallet” and can see my deals and any coupons I have clipped. When I use the deals, I simply pull up the information on my phone and show the merchant.

My husband and I have been buying Local Flavor deals for years! We have tried different restaurants and have enjoyed the fantastic savings. Using Local Flavor has saved us money while dining out. I round definitely recommend Local Flavor to family and friends.

This app saves you money when dining out. Typically you can purchase a 30 dollar gift certificate for 15. I’ve never had a problem redeeming the certificates. I have also sent some as gifts and the process is easy. Definitely recommend.

I always use Local Flavor. It saves me tons of money and it gets me to experience restaurants that I would never go to. I highly recommend it to anyone who has not used it and those that have keep it up so they keep giving us more and more choices.

I’m rating 5 stars, simply because it’s pretty freakin awesome getting 50% off (in most cases) However.. there are numerous occurrences a deal I’m interested in is sold out. In this case I request to be notified when it’s available, and this has yet to happen. Please clarify how these notifications occur, because it very ambiguous.

Over the past several years, we have continually been pleased with the deals and deep discounts LocalFlavor has offered! In fact, we have held some purchases until LocalFlavor adds them to thei page. Could not be more pleased.

We LOVE this! Not only does it save us a ton of money, it gives us many options to choose from. I’ve even found a few places within 15 min of me that were included in the deals that I had no idea existed. I can’t wait to try them.

In a time where going out for dinner can sometimes put a damper on your wallet, Local Flavor has allowed me to enjoy some delicious food at a very affordable price. Some of these restaurants have become my favorites. Thank you to Local Flavor and the merchants who participate.

I mostly purchase Dining Deals at our favorite local restaurants. We have never had a bad experience buying DEALS on Local Flavor and they are so easy to use. When buying restaurant deals everyone needs to remember to TIP GENEROUSLY and MOST IMPORTANTLY, TIP on the TOTAL amount BEFORE your discount is applied! #eatdrinkandshoplocal

We have been here many times. The last 2 times the service has been horrible! We were made to feel like we were annoying when we asked for silverware, had to ask for salt and pepper, they opened our bottle of wine and it spilled on my husband. The food was and always is delicious but we’re not sure if we’ll ever go back. We drive 40 minutes to get there. Not sure if it is worth it anymore.

I have read all the posted reviews and was disheartened to read a number of them regarding poor or non-existent customer service or support. I’ve not had any issue with any of my certificates, with glitchy software making things redeemed before they had actually been used, nor have I fun into any closed businesses. My experience with this service has been exceptional and I will continue to take advantage of their offers. Thank you for providing this app and service along with clear directions on how to use them.

I purchased vouchers from local flavor and due to indoor dining concerns asked for a site credit for future use. I was told by the rep that they do not consider covid-19 to be a reason for doing such and that I just use or lose the voucher. When I questioned the rep on the company’s lack of concern for customer safety, she simply said this is how they conduct their business. There are many other sites such as Groupon who offer much better flexibility and help. I recommend not using local flavor to save yourself the hassle and loss of money.

We use LocalFlavor a lot. However, there are times that we need to cancel a recent purchase. LocalFlavor does not make it easy. They explain that it can be done in their help section;however, provide no link or contact number. Again, we really love this app. Please make it easier to allow for cancellation.
