I download the app to help me with, my commute. And, at first was working perfectly for two months. Then, it suddenly stopped working. Every time I click to search it kicks me out of the app. This is a inconvenience for me when, I’m trying to plan my commute home.
I downloaded the app and it looks ok. Could be better and more user friendly. Basically you have to know where the bus route goes. Unfortunately there is no way to save your favorite bus and make that the bus you get alerts from. A step further would be to allow you to get an alert for the bus you intend to take letting you know, from current location....”if you leave now, you can catch the 4:00pm bus at gate 300”. Also, the maps are really small and basic. Should have a more updated feel. So if you are going to a park and ride or main location that is a major stop you will find it. If not, you cannot search. It has potential and I like the fact that the gate and time are on there.
It is useful when trying to locate the terminal where a bus is located and the time it will be at that gate. But it would be very useful that once I select the certain bus at a certain time it should then give me the option to see the stops on it's route for that trip. Also I would like to have a "favorite" feature where I can select a certain bus and save it to my favorites. This way I can receive alerts pertaining to my bus and see it as soon as I open the app instead of searching for it. Thank you.
This App needs lots of improvement and imagination on how to make it user friendly, intuitive, and easy to use. Trying to figure out how to get back to my hotel was nothing but nightmare. Google was very helpful figuring out which bus number to take, but trying to figure out which level/gate number and door number was almost an impossible task. Not even seasoned bus riders were able to figure which gate we needed to take. Luckily after 20 minutes we found an employee that was able to decipher the crazy convoluted schedule.
I saw the ad in the terminal for this app and excitedly downloaded the app because it is impossible to find what gate a bus leaves from unless you know someone that has taken the bus before and even then they know where the gate is but not number. After downloading the app I tried searching for my destination city and couldn’t find it. Then tried other popular destinations like Hoboken, Wayne, Paramus and found no results. I quickly realized there is no NJT bus listed. NJT is a big chunk of their service, so I’m not sure why they would pay to design this app and not include one of their biggest providers.
The app was confusing and poorly designed. It was flaky, and text often wouldn’t fit where it was supposed to. Today, I launched it to check something. I told me I had to update some internal info in the app (not an App Store update), so I clicked update. It told me that failed and I could try again. Tried. Failed again. Repeat a few times. Force quit app. Launched it again. Now, it happily shows me there are no departures of any kind. No obvious way to get it to update its info. If this app didn’t verge on useless, I would uninstall and reinstall, but writing this review took up the time and energy I have to spare. And, maybe writing this review will save other people their own time. Save yourselves! Avoid this pile of garbage.
You can't search by destination city it by bus number so the app is basically worthless. I feel like few people know the final destination of their regular bus. I don't understand why you can't search by bus number at the very least???
So what is the purpose of having and app that during construction won’t show the current doors departures! I just missed my bus cause I was trusting what the app said. So it was showing the original door of departure but tonight “there’s construction” so the door changed! Idk but NJ transit and port authority need to get their sh... together cause we are paying for a service that definitely need looooots of improvement!
Why is the most recent schedule change not synced to the app yet? Notified people about it for weeks but can’t post it to the app? 122 still shows one time listed on its schedule, 7:30pm. Terrible app run by terrible company wish everyone would boycott
Basic thinking of what is needed should have been destination look up . I don’t search google maps with longitude and latitude coordinates , I use points of interest or destination address. Bus route have limited destinations , this should have been 1# thing they considered
This app has an entire section dedicated to “more utilities”, and yet lacks all useful functionality relating to its primary purpose. I am unable to find information on the bus that I’m standing in line for RIGHT NOW. The designers and developers of this app have lost their way.
Only reason I downloaded it was to see what gate a bus was at, and it doesn’t show that. The guy in the booth that has everything memorized is a million times better! 5 stars to him
This app is a mess. Do not trust the scheduling all the time. Be ready for false bus times and missing bus times as well. This app is great for not showing you all the buses available
I downloaded the app since I recently moved to NJ and did not know my way around Port Authority nor the time schedule or gate of my bus. It does not give accurate gate numbers I’ve waited at a gate for 45 minutes and it wasn’t the correct gate.
Worst app I’ve ever had the horror of using. I downloaded it just to find a gate number and it’s utterly useless. If I see the no results page one more time, I’m throwing my phone. Thanks for sucking as always transit authority!!
Do you know how difficult it is to find the right gate at Port Authority? How will this problem be solved? Who will solve it? This app is nonsense, a waste of time and bureaucratic money. ¿Sabes lo difícil que es encontrar la puerta correcta en Port Authority? ¿Cómo se solucionará este problema? ¿Quién lo solucionará? Esta aplicación es una tontería, una pérdida de tiempo y dinero burocrático.
This app does not fulfill its sole purpose. It has completely bizarre gates for nearly all buses, like local buses supposedly being down in the basement level.
Everytime I try typing in the bus number the app crashes. This app is only wants data from customers. This app is trying to get New Jersey transit to fail, so path would do better.
The search function returns zero results for common nearby city searches such as Hoboken and Weehawken. I don't understand what this app's purpose is to do?
I have a poor sense of direction and rarely take the bus. So when I was on my way to Port Authority to catch a Trailways bus to upstate NY, I was surprised and pleased to find I could download an app with the location of the ticket counters and gates. The map showed the Trailways counter on the subway level, so I went down to the subway entrance -- which I know well, since I used that entrance several times weekly for five years. Unfortunately, the map didn't have any directions or street markers on it, and after going down a flight, I had no idea which way I was facing. But I did see a sign for the Peter Pan ticket counter (though not for Trailways). I looked on the map. According to the app, Peter Pan was on the main level on the other side of the station, which was obviously not the case. After using my phone's compass to figure out which way was North, I walked toward the area where the Trailways counter was supposed to be. It was there, next to Peter Pan. So much for the usefulness of the maps. The ticket seller told me the bus would be leaving from gate 32. This confused me, as I was changing buses in Kingston, and the two buses in the app's departure schedule that went to or through Kingston and that were leaving at the correct time were at completely different gates. Sure enough, when I went down to gate 32, I found that the Trailways bus to Kingston leaves from there, and since the sign looks semi-permanent, apparently it always does. So much for the usefulness of the gate directory. I'm a UX professional by trade with a specialty in the technical aspects of content design and engineering. I know better than the average person how difficult it must be for the Port Authority to manage the data from so many different bus companies. But if they don't have a workable solution, they shouldn't publish an app. Bad information is much, much worse than no information. Thanks for listening.
MyTerminal provides you with information about bus departures and terminal services at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. With the MyTerminal app, users will be able to: • Get scheduled departure time and gate location for all buses departing from the terminal. Users can search for departures by destination city. • View directories showing the location of services available at the terminal, including ticketing, shops and restaurants, restrooms, ATMs, and charging stations. • Check real-time alerts about incidents impacting bus service at the terminal.
