Your lights are amazing - they're so well-built and fantastic. However, having to control your lighting system through this app is extremely frustrating. As a wedding videographer, I urge you to please update and improve this application, or create a remote control option for your lights. It's very frustrating to work with your lights, despite the amazing quality of your products.
Perhaps this app has been improved. I have had a good recent test operating my neewer lights with this app. In the past, it frustratingly loses the connection with the lights and needs to be restarted. I was hoping that this app was available for use on iPad in a slightly different format. I use my lights during a live show recording and they’re not always available to turn on and off because of the connection problem. Plus, the interface is annoying because the buttons are SO SMALL. I was hoping that there was an iPad version with a bigger interface, but unfortunately not. Eventually, I may be looking at another brand of lights. I can always use these for a different application because they don’t function quite reliably enough in certain live situations. Bummer they don’t work as intended. The problem is not user error.
Im sorry to see the negative reviews before me because I assembled these fresh out of the box, installed the app & they connected to both of my Neewer lights immediately with no issues. I was able to control them together, in sync, as a group. I might buy another pair & have a total of 4 ! Excited to started getting creative with these. 😁
Very easy to add and control lights conveniently from your phone! The allows you to setup several lights as their own group too and it remembers the settings you saved on each light too. You can even turn the lights on and off from within the app as well. Love it.
The app is okay as control for an led light but only of limited use for video. Even more annoying it dies but work well with the apple password system so you actually have to remember your credentials. In 2024….
I have 2 different Neewer lights and the app has been working great for both. Easier to control with app than on lights and I haven’t had any issues with connecting.
So far, it does everything I need it to do for video It’s super easy to understand and you can group lights for scenes and what not. I can’t wait to buy more lights now
This App works great with my lights. Was easy an easy set up and connected fast. One of the easier Apps I have used! I will definitely be recommending this App and Neewer products to my friends.
Using app with the camera slider. Works well but would be nice to have some preset buttons. The slider app is simple but leaves a lot of room for additional features. If you got the slider, make sure you tighten the drive belt before using.
Very annoying login process, and now I’m stuck out of the app, can’t log in, and the lights are on the last settings. So annoying, I would probably return those and get other ones. I guess that what you get when you pay cheap.
I have two Neewer RGB660 lights that used to work great with the original app. Not since updating I cannot get things to work hardly at all & now the app randomly shuts down? I have the latest iphone and updated app; thinking of dropping Neewer and stepping up to some lights that work
Use to work fine, then they updated the app and nothing works anymore. Literally a useless app, cannot connect to any lamps. Not a joke. Been trying for a month.
Have to totally refresh app several times to get it to connect. Newest update a year ago made it like this. This is a Chinese company… we got what we paid for.
I have been trying to connect my BH-30s light wand to it via Bluetooth and no success at all. Also there is no customer service contact or clear instructions.
It worked fine until I updated the last two versions…
It wasn’t broke, it was my mistake to update. Because I thought that would be improvement but I was wrong, the connection gotten so slow. It took at least 7x the time to connect to the same devices. I regret so much updating this app. Why make it slower????? But it’s not better…. I’m shaking my head as I’m writing this.
I am using the app for an RGB LED panel, when the app works as it should the controls are fluid and easy to use, if I close the app to say check an email and return then it says it can’t connect to the device (even though from the list of my devices the power button turns the device on and off as it should, and my phone shows a connection is established in the settings app) if it consistently went to the controls for the light this would easily be a 5 star app. I assume that i am going to have to power the light off and back on in order to re-establish the app functionality, and at that point I may as well be controlling the settings with the knobs and buttons on the back of the light which is reliable and works without a hitch.
Like so many other reviews for this app… it simply just does not work. I attempted to create an account and login via the app with no success. On the screen where you create your password and have to re-enter the same password for verification, the app keeps saying that my passwords are inconsistent. So I took another approach and went directly to the Neewer main website and created my account; however, the app does not seem to recognize that either. It’s pretty bad when you can’t even get the app to start. I have always been a fan of Neewer products, but you guys really dropped the ball on this one. It looks like these same complaints go back to over a year. So this problem is nothing new. Not a good look Neewer.
Have tried several times, can not get the issue resolved. Downloaded the app, turned on the RGB lights and the app can not find/connect to the lights. The Bluetooth symbol on the lights is flashing, but app will not connect. A little frustrated as I purchased these for the app feature, but needing to constantly manually adjust when out, takes time...slows my workflow. Really hope theses issues get resolved. UPDATE: App now connects to the LED’s. Works great being able to control using my iPhone!
I just installed it, and tested everything, and it seems to work well so far. I can control the intensity of the lighting, the hue, the brightness, everything, from the app. I tried the app for the competitor, GVM, and it never worked at all, and had a rating of about 1.6 with hundreds of reviews.
Initially when I tried to connect the app, I used guest mode and for some reason it wasn’t able to find the device. After I created an account with my email, the device was found right away and so far I haven’t had any issues. So far it seems to work fine, hopefully it stays that way!
I have tried so many times to connect my device. One day it connects and I can control it fine. Then the next it won’t connect and I can’t use the app. This issue Hass to be resolved. This Hass to be one of the worst apps I have used. Just connect the devices to my phone how hard is that to ask so I can control the colors
The 3.0 update is a MAJOR improvement over the previous versions (kudos to the engineering team for that). Unfortunately, it’s still a nightmare to use and navigate. The UI is clunky, slow to respond, and feels more like a website with an icon slapped on it than a fully-fledged native app for professionals.
Successfully loaded app, established connection via Bluetooth as evidenced by both the symbol on the 660 panel light and the blue Bluetooth icon on the app. But, when I click (touch) the light’s icon on the app, I get a message that reads “Could not connect to the device”. The Bluetooth icon for the fixture then turns gray on the app. I’ve tried quitting the app and turning the light off and on to reestablish Bluetooth connection but end up with the same result each time I try.
I was so exited to use the app with my Neewer lights & be able to control them through my phone. Connected the bluetooth the first time with success, have not been able to connect ever since. I currently Own the Rgb480! Please fix this issue.
Completely unreliable. Cannot control multiple lights in any consistent way. I can’t even determine a pattern in order to work around the bugs in this app. Update: with the October 2021 the app stopped working completely. Now requires signup/login and the signup does not work. Supposedly there is a guest mode but nothing happens when you click on it.
Have Neewer App loaded on iPhone running iOS 14.4. Connected successfully one time to RGB 176 light but can not reconnect via bluetooth again. Disconnected all other bluetooth devices from iPhone to see if there was a conflict but still getting the same problem. Deleted app and reinstalled app several times but still getting the same problem...iPhone won’t display RGB 176 light name nor connect to It. What’s the problem?
I used the app for about a year with no problem. After the update to version 3, my RGB168 panels are no longer connected to the app and cannot be found. I’ve tried every way I can think of to remedy the situation, but to no avail. Hopefully a patch is released soon and I don’t have to manually adjust the settings forever.
Whatever idiot that thought it was a good idea to get rid of being able to drag your light settings between 0 through 100 needs to be fired… Now you have to manually click the plus and minus signs to increase or decrease brightness and etc. It may be time to return these lights just cause the app is inconveniently designed.
(Dec 2020 review) This app doesn’t work. I’ve been trying to connect for 2 days and neither WiFi or Bluetooth on iPhone or iPad sees the lights. How hard or time consuming would it be to give customers a working app? This seems to be a persist problem. Please fix the app or hire a company with the capacity to fix the app. Your customers would appreciate it greatly.
Neewer, I can’t even make an account or log into your awful app. Whoever designed it needs to be fired too, not just the engineers. Really, really terrible. That tiny little circle? Are you serious? Please tell me you can change the colors on the lights without this app?
It was working before but their “update” now forces you to register and makes you authenticate. Can’t use Apple login. They want your info or your previous functionality is gone. It’s an LED light. Why do you want all my info? What a garbage company!
the Bluetooth icon does not appear after holding down the power button on the ring light for five sec and it’s not even showing up in the app sent one ring light back and having a problem with the second one If anyone knows how to pair this ring light please tell me!! 🤯😤😳
I don’t know what to do with this product. I want to return it because the stand was broken and the app is useless. The app is in Chinese and I can’t sign up for an account because the signup function is broken I can’t save a password. It’s bizarre.
I have a dozen Neewer lights which worked great with the app for over a year. New update today now requires email signup. After dozens of tries do not get verification email. “Guest Mode” does not work. All my lights are now useless. DO NOT PURCHASE NEEWER PRODUCTS.
I use this app to control the Neewer RGB660. App is buggy and crashes frequently. Controls are intuitive, but frequently freeze and do not response to taps, requiring a force quit. Cannot find instructions for how to use memory settings. Each time I open the app it automatically triggers the app permissions screen within iOS settings (even though it is already set up). Please fix this app. So much of my light’s functionality depends on it.
Shabby app that doesn't support Wi-Fi or Elgato Stream Deck
Shabby app that doesn't support Wi-Fi or Elgato Stream Deck. Please update your app so it can control the GL1 over Wi-Fi and also to be compatible with Elgato Stream Deck.
