It’s been far far too long now and still no iOS app. It’s now well past the 100 required decision days from the FDA since Insulet claims they have submitted it to the FDA. It’s a utter joke and failure on Insulet’s part. Then they play the silent game by hiding behind auto generated blanket ata menus and act time any body asks about updates to a release date. Very frustrating!
We’re currently leveraging DIY Looping and contemplating a switch to the O5 system and love how this app gives us the ability to understand the interface and setting adjustments before making the plunge. I understand the negative reviewers frustration that the iOS app isn’t live but that doesn’t reflect on the training tool this simulator provides end users. For T1’s themselves the app would be a huge improvement. For caregivers, the launch of the View and Display apps would be amazing. We’re currently used to being able to get NightScout data and Omnipod View would help give us some of that comfort. I’m hopeful that Insulet will launch fully supported iOS apps in the near future!
I’ve been using the omnipod system since they first released the first wireless insulin pump system. It was not yet integrated with any continuous glucose monitoring system, so I had to enter in my blood sugar levels and calculate my carbs to get the necessary insulin to maintain my glucose levels. I am now using the omnipod 5 system and Dexcom G6 and I am very happy with the upgrades that are being offered to patients. I do miss the ability for family members to be able to view my insulin pump levels, but the fact that I can allow my Dexcom to communicate with omnipod to keep my blood sugar levels in range is a huge benefit for me. I highly recommend getting this device!
I am a diabetes educator and this app is very, very helpful when I am on the phone with patients helping them make changes in their Omnipod. There are a few suggestions I have that would make this app more efficient. When I start using the app in the every day use option I do not want to have to simulate starting a new pod. This causes the patient to have to wait for me while I tap through this. Also, in the initial set up, I would like if the pre-populated things would be taken out. This way I could actually enter in the same things that the patient is entering while they’re entering it. So I will see exactly what they see.
I completely understand the desire for an available app and that so many have waited for so long. Please consider, that if app controls the delivery of a potentially deadly (and life-sustaining) substance, like insulin, and the FDA is involved, there are likely many factors outside of a certain sphere of control.
Not only is there no App for iOS (Apple phones) it doesn’t communicate with the new Dexcom 7. None of this is revealed in plain sight and language up front to consider whether or to make an informed decision to upgrade. Not only that, they have discontinued using the Food Library also in the new receiver. Makes carb calculations more difficult and inconvenient. Been almost two years now and all you’ll hear is, we’re working on it. Bad roll out of Series 5. In summary: NO IOS APP, NO DEXCOM G7 CONNECTIVITY and NO FOOD LIBRARY IN NEW O5 PDM.
I have waiting since summer 2022 for the actual app to go live. Now here we are April 2023 and not even an update. I see the marketing on the tv and on Facebook but when I reach out I get the same answer “we are working on it. It’s coming soon”. I am starting to worry about your concept of soon. There are quite a few negative reviews because of the delay so clearly if you are reading this you know there is a demand. With demand you should want to supply a product.
Having used the real Omnipod device, it makes you think the insulin is delivered quickly, yet it is v e r y s l o w. Then if it was a true simulator it would increase your insulin on board numbers after delivering the “fake insulin”. The most disturbing is that I purchased an iPhone before getting the Omnipod and will have to pay it off but have a 3 year commitment. I’m 6 months in to the app coming out “soon”, but have to carry around 2 “phones”. The real Omnipod controller can’t even be used as a phone!?!
Pumped to see on the website that I could use my phone with my pod. As I read on I was sorely disappointed to see that if you have an iPhone at all, you can’t use the app with your pod. I now remember that this has been in development for quite a while, so these leeches can continue to take my money and I’ll use their absolutely slow and outdated PDM for many more years as I’m sure having an iPhone will still out me from using the app. Typical pump company here folks, nothing new.
How is it that there is no REAL iPhone app yet to control our Omnipods?!?!? Insulet, how long do you need?!?!? We keep getting updates for our PDMs…guess what…no one cares about those! At least tell us what date your shooting for, so at least there’s some accountability on your end for delivering. Please listen to all the feedback from your users…it’s deafening.
iPhone and DexCom G6 have worked together for years, no complaints. I tried a different insulin pump and monitor and did not like it. I saw that DexCom G6 worked with OmniPod 5, I asked my VA Doctor to go back to DexCom and use the Omni Pod 5. The first thing I learned in my introductory instruction was, OmniPod DOES NOT WORK WITH IPHONES. What a DISAPPOINTMENT. If OmniPod needs a real world volunteer, I have been a type 1 Insulin Dependent Diabetic for 46 years. My last A1C was down by .4 points, I believe by liking the system I currently now have. If I had both my DexCom and OmniPod on my iPhone Xs, I believe life would be about as good as it gets. It is unacceptable it is taking this long. Thank you.
Simulator is all good. Where is the real deal? I only downloaded the app to write the review and ask for real app. It was said that in summer 2022 the app would be available. It’s fall and still no real app or even the date of availability was not mentioned anywhere. It’s uneasy to carry the bulk controller all the time around. When are you planning to release the real app.
Your companies NUMBER ONE priority should be to get an app for iPhones. I just started using the omnipod 5 and now have to carry around two devices and count on them to communicate with each other at all times to make this all work the way it’s supposed to. I know teenagers that can create apps. Why does it take you so long?
No real app. Omnipod hides the fact that there’s no real app
Omnipod is very secretive about the fact they do not offer a actual working app for the IPhone. I found out after the fact of receiving the kit that they only offer a phone app for some Samsung phones. What a waste of time!!! Why bother with a simulator if you don’t offer the real deal?
Carrying around your device and an iPhone is a terrible inconvenience. I know you say an app for iPhone will happen soon, but after so many months waiting you have no credibility. How hard can it be? Is Medicare holding it up?
The best way to lose customers. Is to lie to them . You stated they would be a rollout with iOS when the FDA approved it , that has been approved and is still not in operation. I love the Omni pod but not caring around two or theee devices. About to change to something else .
I don’t understand why it is taking so long for an app to be developed for iPhone. Usually the app would come to IPhone first but not this time. Can we at least have a time frame on when it is coming?!
Spending a lot more money on the Omnipod 5 over the Dash and it still doesn’t have the IOS support. Have to carry around a PDM still. No support for Omnipod Display either. Paying a premium for a device that is not complete!
It makes no sense waiting seems like forever. FDA got to be an excuse because it’s working with other phones other pumps. Thought I only needed one device but carrying two is frustrating.
Also promised iOS support way back since release and here we are in summer 2023 with still no support. Let’s give them a round of applause…….NOT!! You guys are the worst. I hope your company goes bankrupt. Thanks for the lack of customer support. CLOWNS!!!!
When will we get an update on when the app will be available for IOS. Omnipod has been saying they are working on it for over 6 months without any updates.
Was told a year ago when I started the Omni Pod 5, that there would be an IOS app with in the first quarter of 2023 it’s now August and still no updates or app!
Disappointed in Apple and Omnipod 5. When will there be an app for all the iPhone users. Id rate the Omnipod 5 at 0 if I could. Carrying around two devices is a pain.
This incorrectly implies you can use Omnipod software on an Apple Device. You unfortunately cannot. This app is misleading and serves no real-world purpose
Been waiting since spring 2022 for the Omnipod 5 App for iOS to be able to abandon my pdm and carry one less device around with me. Still no iOS app. 6 months after android app released. Hate to be forced to replace my iPhone with an android phone just because of Omnipod but I’m getting closer to pulling the trigger on that change. Very frustrating. Must be lawyers and government preventing this simple task.
Hello, it's me! I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to keep your promise? Hello, can you hear me? I'm in California dreaming about iPhone app? No?
I am confident there WILL be an iOS app, and I’m aware that play store is closer to the Wild West than Apple App Store, but COME ON. I have had T1 for 20 years, toted around SO MUCH CRAP the whole time. Meter, insulin, syringes, then pens, needles, test strips, THEN my pod and back up supplies changed the game for me 5 years ago and DEXCOM (the real T1 MVPs if we’re being honest bc who did not immediately shove their transmitter in a drawer and FORGET ALL ABOUT IT?!)… I just want to carry my phone and wallet like a regular human being. I’ll keep all my ‘just in case’ stuff in my car, or bag or WHATEVER. But PLEASE, I can barely charge my work and personal phones at night, let ALONE now my omnipod?! I’m crying. I’m so freaking stoked to still be tubeless and finally entering the closed loop lifestyle zone, but PLEASE come through with this app before I have to explain my new hockey puck android look alike omnipod device to every human I interact with. PLEASE AND THANK YOU COME ON WITH THE APP. (Apple if you are holding up the approval please get it together, the people need this app and we also need our iPhones.)
Please release the iOS app. Android has had it for a while. I’m carrying around 2 phones all the time because this app hasn’t been released. Please give us the app. The Omnipod 5 system is amazing and is something I’ve been dreaming of since I had pump therapy. Please at least give us a date to look forward to.
