Waited 20 years for something like this!
I’m an avid music listener and part time music producer and can say without a shadow of a doubt that this app makes it tremendously easier and convenient to store, share and play all my music from any of my iOS devices! I am finally back in control of my music library like in the old iPod days. The new era of music steaming services is destroying our ability to chose how we want to purchase and experience music in our terms. This app gives you that control back in your hands. Personally, I still and always will prefer to OWN a copy of the music I want to listen to so I will still buy CDs (sometimes digital downloads as well with no DRM) so that I can listen to it whenever and however I chose. Monthly subscriptions to music just don’t make sense to me the way I like to experience music. All the music I have purchased since high school, which I still have, is in my music library and continues to grow over time as I see fit. Make no mistake, this is the future of music, not streaming . Don’t let corporations tell you how to consume music. You have the final say in that.

Close to perfect
I was in love with Google Play Music for years and it was central to my daily life as a way to listen to my music collection across all my devices and on the go. When it closed up shop last year, I spent a long time researching my options for a replacement. I settled on Plex and the Plexamp app as my choice and have found it to be great, far better than GPM was in terms of visual UI and sound quality. However, there are a few features that don’t quite fit the high standard that the product sets in most ways. Other reviews here have mentioned the lack of repeat functionality, but I want to point out the big need for improvements in the equalizer. As I listen across multiple systems, it is necessary to use eq to get consistent sound. The eq doesn’t have presets or allow saved settings or profiles meaning that I have to manually set the eq points each time I switch systems. This seems primitive compared to the rest of the app. Hopefully this can be improved.

Great App - CarPlay integration could be better
I have a music library of ~13,000 tracks, a mix of FLAC & MP3 ripped CDs and DRM-free digital purchases, all stored into a cheap mini-PC running the Plex server. PlexAmp is absolutely great to access ‘my’ music on the go: good, intuitive interface, with the right balance of features to keep it simple to use. I am dropping one star due to a (car brand) specific issue with CarPlay: some car manufacturers limit CarPlay ‘lists’ to 12 items when the car is on the move…. Understandable, this is for safety purpose, so that the driver does have to scroll through interminable lists. So when driving my Toyota (they’re not the only brand doing this), I can only select Artists from A to L (or K, if some are #), I can only select from the first 12 tracks of an album, etc. If I stop at a red light, I have access to everything…. Very frustrating! Ok, it’s not PlexAmp’s fault… but the App could be smarter and offer an option to wrap these long lists of Artists, tracks, into multi-level (nested) lists of 12-max lists length. As it is, I just revert to using my phone when driving… which is more dangerous in the end!

Fantastic start!
Update: latest update added a section for you to go through all your artist, tracks, albums, etc, and gave alphabetical side scrolling!!! As I’ve used the app I’ve noticed when trying to not use any data, the app can act real weird. For instance if you turn of cellular data access to the app, and if you go off WiFi, you cannot scroll through any of your music. You can only shuffle the playlists you have downloaded, and you cannot scroll through those song’s, only play them. Please let us scroll through our music offline if we have downloaded the music. Also please let us download our library easier. Had to make 4 playlists and download them separately in order to get whole library downloaded. Not ideal. It would also be nice to set the new library page as your default when opening the app. Love it’s functionality and ability to adjust eq on an iOS device. Though I would really enjoy being able to adjust shuffle and repeat on the fly, just like every music app does. This on its own is why I can’t give it 5 stars. Also would be nice for the “All Music” option at the top to be a little bigger for easier selection.

Gets better and better
Plexamp is THE way to enjoy music. I’ve been a plex pass subscriber for a long time and this app is half the reason why. The radio features are unparalleled, the EQ is the perfect blend of form and function, the list of great stuff goes on and on. There is one thing I think is fundamentally flawed and keeping it from being the definitive iOS music player: download/offline support. Plexamp allows you to download from your Plex library, you can even save the whole library locally. However, once on the device, if you go offline, you’re unable to browse the library and can only play from the downloads tab. For those of us who keep the files locally, this can be an issue. I work in a place with spotty internet, which means even though my whole library is saved locally on my phone, if I want to play a specific album I’ll need to find it in the downloads list. Please consider overhauling this functionality down the line, I hate having to keep a second app on my device for robust local library access!

Genuine godsend of a music player
I have my Plexamp hooked up to my Plex media server with Plex pass with about 13,000 songs all flac atm. My personal favorite Plexamp-only feature has got to be the sonic-adventure. I feel it does a way better job at recommending songs than any of the guest djs. There is also native support for lyrics that aren't anything to rave about but it's more than enough (Apple Music still does it best). Also if you have a tidal subscription and a Plex pass subscription you can integrate it and save a dollar. And with Plexamp you can have your local library be your main source of media and it natively imports music you search for with tidal results and plays it all in Plexamp pretty seamlessly. Although with Plexamp and tidal dj doppelgänger seems to be pretty much useless as it suggest THE most random junk most times. If you have a large local library of songs or are thinking of getting one this app is top-dog.

Decent but needs tweaks
Similar to when I use plex to play music from the default app or on the TV it needs to have a repeat all or repeat single button, and it needs to remember your setting even if you close the app. It drives me nuts having to always turn it back on every time I would launch the normal Plex app. By default I think the preamp, loudness equalization, clipping help features should be turned off by default and we can go in and tweak those. I’d love the ability to edit the home to remove things like the radio and such. Last but not least once I select the album and it’s showing me the songs on said album I don’t want to have to click a song and then click play to play the song, just immediately play when I click it, no need to confirm what I’d like to do. Not trying to bash on what has been done here. I love seeing Plex take this new step with a dedicated music app. Been a Plex user for about 8 years and it has made media playback in the home so incredibly simple and I cannot praise that enough. Keep up the amazing work guys.

Excellent but needs repeat
Great app, supports FLAC when locally connected, great visualizer, and clean. It NEEEEEEDS a repeat option though. It is an insanely simple option to add to bring it in line with every other music player available (aside for dumb streaming “radio” apps that don’t let you do anything but skip forward). These are my files and I should be able to listen to them EXACTLY how I want to, and if that means listening to one album or one song over and over, then so be it. Especially since I have a 6 year old son and often times it’s him that wants a single song over and over. I can’t do it with Plexamp. It is the only reason I take off a star and the only reason I don’t use this app exclusively on every platform. Because I can’t be bothered to look down 6 times to start the song over when I’m driving him to swim lessons, it’s not safe. It would be utterly perfect with a repeat option. It is astounding they haven’t added it yet or why it would EVER be left out in the first place. Please fix it and you’ll get 5 stars. 10 stars! 100!

Almost perfect
As somebody who has a fairly large digital collection of lossless audio files, I prefer to transfer these to my mobile device and listen to them on the go. Apple has restrictions loading local music onto your and iOS device outside of using the iTunes application, which is a pretty awful experience, especially on Windows platforms. This is where PlexAmp comes into the picture. PlexAmp allows you to do exactly what you think, which is transfer fully lossless audio files to your device (hosted from your Plex server), and listen to them on the go. It works pretty seamlessly. I had to deduct a star from this rating, however, because downloaded files do not have the same organizational system as those hosted on your personal Plex server or the standard Plex iOS application. This makes scrolling through a large, downloaded collection pretty tedious and cumbersome, as there is no way to filter for artists or albums, and the albums can sometimes be sorted in an incorrect order.

Beautiful Plex Music app finally!
This is a beautiful app and a great way to finally be able to browse my Plex music properly rather than using the main Plex app. The visualizations for the Now Playing screen are cool, and kind of a throw back to the old school days of playing music on your computer with iTunes or Winamp. I love the built in “radio” stations especially the “Mix Builder” which allows you to create a shuffle of your own music based on similar artists. Plexamp is smart enough to know which artists to suggest from your library as you add them, which ends up creating a great mix. After seeing the developer comments on some of these reviews I do see there is a way to browse all artists, albums, etc which is to click on the header “Recently added music” then click the ... icon in upper right. From there you can browse by artist, album or track with a variety of sorts available as well. If I had one critique of the app it would be that is not very intuitive to find. I would never have figured that out had I not seen the dev response. Another thing that threw me for a loop was making sure I was on the right music library under Settings>Source. I was on my audiobooks library instead of my music library by default. It might be useful for there to be a little guided setup tutorial when first signing into the app? Anyway, all in all, a great app and I’m super excited to have it!

Airplay?
Great app to focus on music. Things to consider: Airplay and Cast button to use our phones as a controller and play music on our home speakers such as Sonos. I could use the Sonos app, the Plex player, desktop apps and media streaming devices but then what’s the point of using this mobile app? I personally need it to compete with the DS Audio app for starters. It currently takes a lot of work for users but we need something easier than using iTunes to create smart playlists to download, edit to add FLAC, then attempt to import/upload/sync into Plex. If done correctly, I’d like to open Plexamp and choose MY playlists the way the ‘time travel’ playlists show up. My music library is too large. Creating a ‘Plex’ playlist isn’t helpful if it’s not compatible and can’t be exported to other apps and devices. We should be able to edit ini files similar to the movie metadata files to list similar artists and genres vs using lastFM. But do we really need so many apps in order to run a true experience: PMS, PMP, Plexamp, Plex Dash? Do we want to? Thanks for giving us something to try out during Covid-19.

Amazing app for self-hosting folks, get a PlexPass!
All I can say is WOW. I’m a long time Plex user, (since about 2010) and I have also had a Lifetime PlexPass for about as long. I also host a fairly beefy Plex server. Been using PlexAmp for a long time now, first on PC, then I was super excited to see an iOS version come out. Then Plex shocked me yet again, and added all the sonic features to the PlexAmp app. It was a game changer. I have basically forgone any streaming services, and now just stream my already massive mp3 collection. PlexAmp does a great job of matching music (with the help of the new sonic features). I have had days where I haven’t had to touch the “next” button at all. It finds similar music, plays it on its own, and you can tweak how similar or dissimilar you want the playlist to be. It’s easy, it’s powerful, and it just works. Also love the caching and buffering, prior releases made it hard to drive around town, in and out of cell service. The app does a great job of caching and I have little to no issues while driving through dead zones. The app is polished and well made. Totally worth the investment in a PlexPass if you don’t already have it. Give Plex some love, it’s not that expensive and it’s totally worth it. As always, thanks Plex and please keep coming out with features for us self-hosters. We are loving it!

Pretty good so far, but is missing some essential features.
I really like all the options this app offers and the discovery features. It is missing the ability to view all artists or albums on my server. I get the app is focused on discovery, but that could at least be a setting. Casting and lyrics also don’t appear to be options yet. It would also be nice if podcasts integrated into the main page if I wanted without needing to switch sources becuase I use Plex for all my podcasts and most of my music and switching is more of a hassle in this app than the main Plex app. I appreciate the bitrate options, crossfade, eq, etc.. It just seems like those features above are near essential and missing at this point. Most are found in the main Plex app as well. There’s a good thread on the Plex subreddit that goes over people’s likes and dislikes with the app so far too.

5 Stars - Perfection
PlexAmp is a great piece of software for playing my Music Library (I use a Synology NAS - also awesome). Using Plex, I have created NUMEROUS Smart Playlists out of my 16K+ Track Library. These show in PlexAmp and the seamless play between tracks is amazing (although called “Gapless” play, I do believe the actual setting is “Sweet Fades”). I stream to my receiver via a Logitech Bluetooth receiver, and my wired system plays to multiple wired zones (Basement, Outdoor Deck, Living Room, Library). Unfortunately, I have not been able to have Plex play via Alexa to a Group Speaker setup, which would allow for a whole-house experience since I have Echo Devices in every room of my house. I also use PlexAmp in my car (iPhone-Bluetooth) and its awesome to be able to take my music (from home server) ANYWHERE. (Plex for Movies/TV series is a total Lifestyle change - get it).

Good. Not great
Library requires pull down refresh to load. Seems like a bug. The “Playlist” view is ridiculously stupid. If you’re listening to a long playlist, and you want to see what’s in that playlist, get ready for stupidity. Instead of the app just showing the whole list, where your current song is, and what is next in order all on one screen, you have to get all this information from various tabs. The “Back To” tab show what just played, but in reverse order with the most recent song at the top. The “Up Next” tab shows the coming songs in the list in the opposite, descending, order, but not all of them. So you can never see all the songs in your playlist in the order in which they are played. Please fix this silliness.

Giving Me My Music Library Back
With a music library of over 60k tracks I’ve digitized from purchases going back to 1982, Plex/Plexamp has given me my library back in an interface that rivals any streaming service out there. EZ to use, adaptive to my listening habits, suggestions of like-songs, self & auto-generated playlists, plus a fantastic search- its the best, and highly recommended. My only minimal zing is that the AI features need you to have a Tidal subscription as it cant limit to your local library, the auto-generated playlists can contain repetitive tracks as it can’t distinguish singles from albums, and (more of a Plex issue) that to realize its full potential you must match all releases with MusicBrainz (which is significantly less populated than other online music databases like Discogs). Again - minimal issues and otherwise my goto music app for 2 years now.

There are few things that drive me crazy but overall it’s a good music player. 1. Offline playlist. After an extensive search I found the slider to change the amount of music I want to download for offline playback. I kept ignoring that slider - I thought it was for volume control. Well now I increase the time and hit download but it keeps telling me the playlist has already been downloaded. This is not true only a portion was downloaded. When I check the slider bar it keeps going back to the original one hour download not the longer time I just changed it to. 2. CarPlay. Only something around 10 albums show up in my downloaded list but I have at least twice that amount downloaded on my phone. I’ve tried everything I could think of to get the rest to show up. Nothing worked. I see from your response that this is a CarPlay issue. Thanks for letting me know that. 3. I wish things like long album titles would scroll so you can read the entire album title and not have it cut off once a certain amount of characters have been used. Yes for number three I mean for the app on my iPhone. I have a number of album titles with similar names and only the very end of the album name is different but there is no way to see that full album name in the iOS app. Thanks for your response!

Love this app!
I used to use Google Play to manage my music collection. The fact that they replace your uploaded version of a track with their own in addition to the huge issues with uploading tracks led me to pursue standing up my own Plex media server. I’ve been using Plex for a few years and have discovered some significant flaws with the iOS app. In particular, downloading and continuous synchronization of a large music collection was significantly flawed, and required me to completely delete and re-download the media dozens of times. I was about to give up and and then I came across this app. I can’t say enough positive things about my experience using this app. And they have CarPlay support on top of it?? If someone can tell me how I can make a donation to the developers please!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional User Interface Comparable to Luxury Systems
From the moment you launch Plex, you’re greeted with an intuitive and sleek user interface that stands out in its class. It’s not just a media player; it’s an experience that rivals the professional systems found in the most luxurious yachts and state-of-the-art automated homes. Navigation is a breeze, with every feature and setting organized in a way that feels natural and effortless. Whether you’re a tech novice or an enthusiast, Plex makes you feel like a pro. It’s clear that the designers have put a lot of thought into every detail, ensuring a seamless interaction that enhances your media enjoyment. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their home entertainment system to elite standards.

Just about perfect
In my quest to finally untether myself from iTunes and the native iOS Music app, I think Plexamp just about covers all of my needs: nice-looking UI, searchable titles, reliable playback, and (here’s the big one) on-the-fly conversion of lossless to mp3 for downloads. There is one teensy critique I have regarding downloaded content: When you tap on an album from the downloads tab, it instantly starts playing the album instead of showing the track list. In order to see the song titles, you have to play the album and then click on the queue. It’s a minor quibble, but it always throws me a bit since just about every other music app shows the song titles first.

Lots of potential, keep it up!
This app has some great potential. I love how users can customize many aspects to suit their needs. Including an equalizer which I haven’t played with yet. A couple downsides are downloads seem to be an issue - very slow even if you set the quality to the lowest setting, it won’t download in the background which is very annoying since it’s so slow, and the one album I downloaded won’t open a track list in the “downloads” tab, it just starts playing. Downloads definitely need some work. On the positive side I love the CarPlay connectivity, only thing I would love to see added is a way to easily navigate back to whatever you’re currently playing in Plexamp when you turn the car back on, right now I have to navigate back there in the phone app. Overall though it’s a great concept and if they keep working on it I think it could be amazing.

Airiplay woes
There’s a lot to like about Plexamp but it gets a major failure for not working reliably with airplay on some networks. If you have a network with multiple wifi access points then you may experience dropouts (and perhaps total audio loss) as your mobile device moves from one access point to another). You can fix this if your access points allow you to turn on fast roaming but some devices may not work with this setting (and if you don’t have admin control of the network then you are out of luck). Other apps have no airplay troubles when fast roaming is off (such as Overcast,Prism Music and Apple Music) which is why I’m giving Plexamp a ding on its rating. If it weren’t for this it might be the closes thing to a perfect music app that I’ve used.

Needs improvement
4 stars for being able to real-time covert FLAC to Opus. However the UI really needs some work. Having two columns for “back to” and “up next” is really cumbersome. There should just be one scrollable list for the current playlist. There also needs to be a way to integrate downloads into the normal interface instead of just being its own tab. I should be able to browse by artist and album for downloads only. The reason I rely on downloads so much is that there’s not good service during my commute so I need to select only downloaded music for listening. Having to scroll all my albums and playlists in a non-sortable manner is not helpful. When I synced music to my phone using iTunes I could do this but not with Plexamp.

Excellent, but needs more polish
Plexamp is a natural addition to anyone who uses Plex for music, and it almost hits the mark now that CarPlay is available. The interface is easy to use and intuitive, and there are enough app settings to customize it to your usage scenario. That said, CarPlay is still a little dicey; it launches well after a recent update, but it doesn’t consistently connect back to my library properly, despite the app itself working fine. I also had a weird issue where music was stuck streaming at a very low nitrate, until I restarted the session. It would also be nice to be able to update tags while in the app, but that’s probably more of a Plex thing. Regardless, I’d still highly recommend everyone with Plex to give it a try. It doesn’t need to be perfect to be a very good app!

Only one thing keeping me…
There is only one thing keeping me from using this app instead of prism music. That is filter/sort when looking under the genre. If they would implement the ability to pick a genre and then show the artists that have something in the genre so you could pick the artist then allow you to pick the album then the song. Right now when you pick genre it shows you all albums that have that genre. Sometimes there is a lot. But if instead of showing all albums it showed the artists that had an album first, then you could pick the artist to just see the albums of that artist. I love most everything else about Plexamp other than that. It is the only thing that keeps me using prism music instead. Hence 3 stars. And no airplay. Common Plex get airplay support

Getting there
It's great to have a dedicated music app for Plex instead of using the "regular" Plex app and navigating through everything on my server. As a lot of others have mentioned, viewing by artist or albums directly would be great (or will be when the add that feature -Hey guys, if you're reading this, why not add the Recent Artist > other sort method to the description to save all the replies I'm sure you're pasting into the reviews at this point). I'd like a quicker way to switch between libraries as I've set up separate ones for Music and Audiobooks. It took a bit to find that, not a lot but some. All in all looking forward to testing it out more as watching out for updates and refinements. This would Ave been 4 1/2 stars if that were possible simply because it's not quite perfect but darn good.

Great on device can be better in CarPlay
When your on your device is functions as expected and is a really sold streaming app. But my biggest problem is in CarPlay. When I go into the library tab it gives you a list A-Z for the artist you want, then it gives a list of all the artists in that letter, then it gives you the albums the artist made, then the songs in the album and finally plays your music. I think it has too many pages to navigate in the car and can be dangerous if you are trying to quickly change the song from a different album. There are more assessable lists like the just added list which is a lot better but I would like to see a list of just the albums in an easier spot.

Great stuff
This player is looking good af. Would like to see a libraries tab where I can more easily see all of my playlist right away and select them faster. It would be great to see the downloads being able to be sorted by artist, album, name, etc. I would also like the option to select an artist to download all of their music, right now I can only download one album at a time. But this is still great to see. The player looks modern and simple. I love that I can finally use an equalizer with Plex. I also love the ability to manually select the preamp. The ability to choose my caching on cellular and wifi is fantastic. And btw the limiter is great to see. Keep up the hard work, been a supporter for a while.

Great app, just what PLEX needed for the music fan
I had lots of problems getting Plexamp to connect to my server at first. I am a network engineer so my home network is a bit more complex than your average home LAN. My PLEX server and iDevices are on two different subnets, and for the longest time Plexamp refused to connect to the server, even though the regular PLEX app worked fine. Thanks to the helpful response I got here after leaving a 1-star review, I was able to get Plexamp working simply by changing my server settings. If you’re having problems, try changing the secure connection setting on your server from “Required” to “Preferred.” Annoying that such a seemingly unrelated setting makes or breaks it, so Plexamp loses 1 star for that. Otherwise, so far, so good!

Create app that needs upgrades
The app overall is really great! It has very easy to use interface and the file management is super. However, it does have some limitations with regard to audio file output. Apparently, when used on an iPad or iPhone, the software limits the quality of the output to the limit of the device that it’s working on regardless of whether there is a portable DAC plugged in or not it would be great to have over the software override, the maximum quality of the deviceto provide higher quality sound output. Also full screen full size visualizer would be awesome as well thanks! Oh, and I typed this using my Apple Vision Pro so Vision Pro version would be amazing too

Plexamp is a companion app to the Plex ecosystem of that specializes on your personal music library that you have stored on your Plex Media Server. With Plex partnering with key metadata companies, your personal collection of music and movies is curated to look like that of the mainstream streaming companies. Plexamp allows your personal library of music to be handled for you or by you. Offline downloads allow your playlists to be accessible when out of reach. Fantastic features like sweet fades, volume leveling, and Sonic Analysis make your playlists be better and sound better. This changed my music forever
I am a classical music and soundtrack snob with a vast collection of over 4 TB. Apple has never done a good job of understanding the nuances of tagging and organizing classical music. I have invested over 25 years in my digital library, and Plexamp is the first music player that has allowed me to stream my own library anywhere in the world, the way that I have it and like it to be organized. If there is one criticism of this app, whether the free or pro version, some unwanted features that cannot turn off or made otherwise invisible. A small quibble or some amazing software that does what Apple Music does not.

Good, but impossible to submit bug reports anywhere
For months I’ve been collecting a list of issues with Plexamp, but there’s nothing in the app about “support” or “bug reports” or “issues” or anything of the sort. The support link on this page takes you to their website, and I’ve searched for ways to submit bug reports several times to no avail. They have a peer support forum, but I don’t need *help*, I need to submit reproducible problems for *Plex* to fix. Clearly they care about the app, as it receives regular updates with actual changelogs (thank you!), but the fact that I, a *paying customer*, have seemingly no way to tell them about problems in their app? That’s weird and frustrating.

Great so far... Only needs minor tweaks.
Longtime and enthusiastic Plex user. Great to have a dedicated app for the music on my Plex server. The main Plex app always seemed like overkill when I just want to play a few songs quickly. I buy a ton of indie and underground music directly from the artists, and I have a lot of personally created music, and Plex is the only way to manage it all properly, with a beautiful interface, and in one place. I am also fed up with having 9000 streaming subscriptions, so Plex & Plexamp is the solution for me. I really like that Plexamp starts the music instantly, and the interface makes it simple and efficient to get right to what I want to play. The one thing I'd like to see added is skip-ahead" buttons. Besides that, I have no complaints. Love Plex.

Really great personal cloud style music
I’ve been a fan of Plex for years, but it’s never been good at music, until PlexAMP. Now it’s a great music app. And I prefer to use local files, rather than relying on company servers. Here, the music runs off of what you have stored on your computer. You can use your computer as a server so you can stream to your your phone anywhere, or you can download the music to your phone through your app so you don’t have to use data when on the go. The only complaints I have are that the downloads and streaming from your library are treated as such separate entities (it’s hard to explain).

This is the update I have been waiting for! Love that we can skip custom -/+ now. Fixed the bug when have over 200k items in your library TY!! And plenty of other great updates, enhancements and fixes. Definitely update its amazing! You’d think with so many changes there might be issues but it’s working just as reliably as one would expect from plexamp. Keep up the good work, devs, excellent update! Future consideration: adding bookmark or way to remember past listening point for files. Some long podcasts and audiobooks can be a real pain to go back to if I listen to something else in between.

Stop being clever. Be helpful.
Unfortunately, the nature of Plex as far as playing your own library end up having challenges with connectivity and performance of the server that runs on a local machine. While that is to be expected, what is infuriating about this application is that rather than providing helpful guidance when there is a timeout or other error, some developers intending to be clever or funny provide error messages about being more Zen and “all you seek is inside of you” when tracks aren’t shown or you can’t connect. I’m sure this is fun to write as an error message, but as someone trying to actually figure out how to get things working, it adds insult to injury. the error messages like this are plentiful, and there is completely nonexistent guidance on how to actually solve these issues to troubleshoot them or otherwise.

Loving the app and rediscovering my (hi-res) music library
I rarely use streaming services now thanks to Plexamp. I have a large personal library of music and Plexamp has made it easy to use and access. There are some niggles, especially when I don’t have a strong signal - I wish downloads was not so separated from the library. It would be nice if I could scan my library (and that the app would cache the library info) and see what has been downloaded already. If I am out and about loading the same album for the library is inordinately longer than loading it from the downloads area. But overall I am enjoying the app and the overall Plex service.

Probably good for smaller collections, but a buggy mess regardless
I've been looking to move away from Apple Music and the 100k song limit that comes with the iCloud Music Library, and thought this was the solution: access to my whole library with the option to download for offline listening. What I didn't realize, however, is that trying to access downloaded music on this app when internet is spotty (like commuting on the subway) was basically impossible, so the app is worthless in that regard. I thought this might improve by springing for a Plex Pass, but no dice. To make matters worse, functionality the app around my home (either on WiFi or cellular data) has cratered into unusability: search function is completely broken in that nothing I type yields any result - it may register the first letter I enter, but that's it. Trying to navigate back to my library results into a molasses-like slowdown before the app finally crashes. I started out very excited to use Plexamp, and it even worked for a couple of days before becoming mired in an impregnable swamp of frustration. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, maybe it only works on the latest phones - I wish I knew, because I really don't want to go back to Apple Music.

The perfect iTunes replacement
The days of owning your own music and being able to easily access your collection wherever you go, those days are long gone. At least, they were before Plex. Plex brings back the control and customization over the media you own, but music gets its own special touch with Plexamp. A visually beautiful, easy to use app for fine control over your music collection, this is the route Apple should have gone with iTunes instead of killing it in favor of subscription service. At least this carries the spirit on, and it does so with gusto.

Apple Watch support would be nice
A great way to listen to a personal music collection without the hassle of having to upload to iTunes or download to your device. It keeps device storage free for other apps, photos or whatever while giving access to a personal music streaming service. Easy to setup and integrate files on a computer to stream anywhere internet access is available. When internet is not available options to download content are available. It would be nice to get an app for Apple Watch. All users could use an Apple Watch app in a Wi-Fi capable area and for those with data plans anywhere service is available.

Great App, few bugs
I love this new app. Its great to see a experience geared towards music more. Especially liked the Car Play support. I had a few issues with it though. The Car Play screens where jumping back and forth when i would try to interact with them. I also had an issue playing music at first. It looked like it started to play a song, but just kept looping the first second with no audio coming out. I would also like to ask if you could add support for apple watch on cellular. Then you can use your watch to just listen to your Plex library, especially if your in the gym (Pre-Covid days of course) working out. Its easier to not carry my phone on me and just stream music to my watch.

Awesome App
I absolutely love this app. Thank you Plex for making an amazing way to listen to music! The interface is absolutely stunning and easy to use. I've not once had any buffering issues or latency problems no matter if I'm at home or hundreds of miles away from home. If your worried about large music libraries, my library of 5,000 songs in many different formats plays just fine. My only thing negative I have to say is that sometimes album art is missing. I would love to see a way on this app to manage album covers or a way to pull them from an online sourcr.

It just works. Also, it’s ridiculously beautiful.
I’ve been an on-and-off Plex user for years, but this app might just keep me here for good. The app works just as promised, and it’s one of the most beautiful iOS apps I’ve ever seen, to boot. I love the customization features. It would be nice to have icon options like the regular Plex app, and to be able to turn off some features, like Moods, lyrics, and showing record labels, which just kinda get in my way. Regardless, this is now my daily driver for playing ALAC and FLAC files, and I don’t imagine I’ll find a reason to switch any time soon.

Plexamp Review
High quality across a large mix of audio types: ogg mp3 flac and good categories for quick grab and go. It is also plays gapless between songs in a playlist. I had been using foobar2000, but it quit working easily off my server. Used MonkeyMote with my foobar2000 after that, but some audio quality lacking, and clunky interface. Then I used Plex, and moved to PkexAmp after that. I wish it would play with HEOS as many have pleaded with on the HEOS side of things, but I can live with that. Thank you for making such a high quality audio player.

Dope.
Dope. Easy to use but mad flexible. Is there a way to create smart playlists based on star rating using the iPhone app and not just on the Plex server? Developer response: "Yes, you can. Use the filter action on a library screen in Plexamp (artists, albums, tracks) and choose the Rating rule under tracks. Then select the add button and create a new playlist with the rule. " My response: It works on the Plexamp iPhone amp! Follow up question… is there a way in Plexamp or Plex to set a start and end time for each song to avoid intros or lengthy outros that are attached to the song? THANKS!

Great with caveats
It works well when it works, but odd little things keep it from being 5 stars: Metadata including artists, song and album titles frequently disappear when my Plex server updates. There’s no scrolling for long titles, so for example backed up podcasts with long titles or songs with a list of guest artists are very cut off with no way of viewing the whole title(s). It’s cool to be able to better control streaming from my computer, but minor app improvements can go a long way in making it great.

Excellent start!!
Thanks to everyone to actually put in effort and time to bring this app!! Kudos.. love the UI, Ultrablur, theme options, everything is buttery.. Like everyone here’s my wishlist and hopefully happens in next few versions: - AirPlay, casting - Carplay - Ability to view my entire album collection - On the go playlist is - Limiting to 40 tracks..why? What if my favorite artist has 100s of songs? I should be able to create my own playlist without any track Limit Keep up the good work team and do keep us updated on features release - not the usual coming soon!! Thanks again!!! Update: Thanks for quick response.. I do see all albums under all music (thanks is for the tip), but we need more sort options, title alphabetical for example. On another question on limit.. when I search for an artist under main page search function, it only gives limited number of tracks for that artist even though I have plenty other tracks for same artist.. BIG THANKS AGAIN for being so quick in your responses!!

Great player, still needs tweaking
Plexamp is by far the greatest music player on iOS. While I'm assuming this version of the app was designed for iPadOS, I run it on my Mac and there's one thing that drives me nuts. If you have an album playing and you scroll down to the track listings, you lose the ability to scroll up and down. If you can still see a sliver of the album art, you can move the cursor over that and scroll back up, but if you're completely in the tracks, you have to go back to a previous screen and then come back to what's playing to get back to the top. This is particularly annoying when you have a huge playlist going that you're trying to scroll through. On iPad, with the touch screen, I thnk scrolling probably works fine, but on a Mac, if you're using a mouse or touchpad, you're just out of luck. Devs, please fix this as soon as you can! That would make my rating five stars.

Solid App
I'm a big fan of Plex Amp, especially the ios version. It's great for streaming my library of game music and works really well. The only thing I dock it for is there's a limit on downloads maxing out at 24 hrs, so if you have an album or playlist it only downloads the first 24 hours. This isn't inherently app breaking but I wish the app had at least warned me instead of just only queuing up half my music. I have a 36 hour driving playlist I shuffle and I'll likely need to look into breaking that up somehow.
