This was my old review.. They recently removed the ability in their recent update.. so you can no longer save videos (mp4s) that are compatible with the iPhone to your camera roll..... if they change this feature and let the user once again save videos.. I'll change my review... Recently got an m4 ipad pro... and while i still can't download videos which i use to be able to do with the earlier versions of this stupid app... it completely doesn't even work on m4 series ipads... i dont know if thats all m series chips for the ipad... but it definitely doesn't work on the m4... New one They have fixed the video downloading problem... only because i sent them actual footage/screen recording of the program not working as intended... kinda crazy how they didn't know.. even though i told them on my previous review.. they said i was wrong until they saw the proof... anyway.. it still doesn't work on m4 ipads.. i would assume thats all m1-m4 devices... the problem is.. when browsing on an m4 ipad.. you can click on any picture.. but.. it only displays results for the first image on the page/list... it also wont do slideshows.. and allot of other things that it's supposed to be able to do...
They ironed a few kinks and bugs with the past few updates. There’s still a surplus of AI art and 3+ tags are still locked behind a paywall but worst of all is INTRUSIVE ads; full screen 30 second unskippable ads. Other than that, it’s the only imageboard besides Pixiv with a convenient app.
It's okay, but the slow loading of posts drives me insane
I love this app. I have been using it a lot to view anime style pictures in my free time and I have no complaint about the UI, design, functionalities etc except for the loading time, some images/videos that are very huge in size (>100MB) take forever to load, by the time it finishes loading, during that time can i go reverse image search that image... very disappointing at how the admins seem to focus on promoting AI/premium subscription instead of improving their server. Oh and let's me tell you about the ads, browsing this site is can be a real frustrating experience because I have encountered 10-12 ads in one session just for viewing 20 posts... Also I find it funny how Apple still allows this app on the App Store lol
I really like it. A few errors but it's still great.
First of all, if you want to browse the app without an adult filter, you have to turn it off by going on the site and going on your account settings. One of the best things I like about this app is that I can now watch the webm posts instead of having to rely on a browser. It loads up quick but for some of them, their audio is out of sync. Like the webm is slower than the audio. You also can't search for the most popular posts as a section, so you'll just be browsing normally. Overall, I'm definitely pleased with the app for now. Just some tweaks that are needed for the app to be perfect. An update after a few months: the new features are a great addition but the webm with audio are still super slow. Please fix it.
This app is wonderful! It was thanks to this app that i was able to discover artists and books that i have never would have known. It contains so much work from today to the old days and plays videos files of al types. The community tagging does need some work but other then that I have enjoyed my time using this app to this very day. But Downloaders BEWARE this app pools data from all your apps and web browsing history for its pop up adds. Like one day I just searched in my Walmart add for Adzuki beans, Mini Fridge, and Kitchen aid stand mixers and once i open this app an add popped up ahowing those exact searches. So download if your ok with that.
Impressive for an app that's fresh out of the oven
Pretty simple and will sometimes crash but it was just put on the App Store so that's understandable. Plus now I can view webms without a third party application and easily save pics and MP4s to my camera roll so that's nice as well. Would love an option to turn off ads, be able to subscribe to tags in-app, and also look at related pictures like on the website, but I'm sure those features are on their way, so I look forward to that. Long story short it's just an easier to navigate mobile version of the website, that's what I expected and that's what I got.
Even with an active subscription, many tags don't work and most posts are hidden, but this censorship isn't even consistent; you can see posts that are typically hidden in your account's favorites section. Moreover, the app is essentially broken since, likely partially a result of the hidden posts, if you select a post and attempt to favorite it, the app acts like you selected the first post shown in search results. The only way to favorite a later post at present is to start with the first post and navigate through each post one at a time until you reach that specific post. Not even sure why this app was made available again in such a broken and, ultimately, useless state.
So I’m not sure if it’s just a few people, but after reading some of the reviews, people are getting the same notification error as I do. Can’t log in, or browse when connected to the internet (IP ban maybe?) it works great on Data though, but then it’ll eat through your data. I wish I knew how to fix this, as it’s the worse part of the app. The minor problem is the occasional crash. Doesn’t happen often, but it’s still annoying as I’m usually browsing through tags to find good images.
I'm giving it 2 stars until the website accepts my card. It's the same card I used to get a 'Plus' account through the app. I upgraded to try the AI generation feature on the website, which is pretty good, but you only get 100 points to start with and each generation costs 5 or more points. I'm willing to throw my money away to get more than 20 generations or less, but I guess they don't want that money. The site keeps giving me a "charge is suspected to be fraudulent" message. I canceled my 'Plus' subscription and I'll be sticking with NovelAI for now. Hope they can get this sorted out soon.
This mobile version is, somehow, the best version of Sankaku Channel. It's smoother than original PC, has a lot of the QoL features that beta PC lacks (like the ability to fav a post without opening it), and has the best UI out of the three. However what drops it to a 4 for me are 1. Books. Every time you open a book it reminds you that books use vertical scrolling. Every. Single. Time. And the pop-up lingers for a good 5 seconds, preventing you from turning pages till it goes away. Doesn't seem like much, but EVERY TIME you open a book, even if it's one you closed 10 minutes ago to look at something else, this happens. It really adds up. 2. Premium. Currently the premium subscription only removes ads. I know they promise more content in the future, but it's not worth $10 monthly at the moment. Not even close. Lower it until the service is completed.
Overall I enjoy using this app, it’s easy, quick and overall pretty user-friendly (besides not being able to rescind votes which appear on your profile.) But holy mother of cow, does this thing have bugs. Sometimes searching a specific tag or combination of tags will just crash the app immediately, though that seems to have lessened with iOS14. Another problem is some videos will just slow the app to a crawl and completely crash it as well. Over needs more stability fixes
Lately I've been having a problem where there are certain tags that I can't exclude from my search. I mean there are some images I don't particularly want to see, so I try putting the minus(-) sign before the tag and it loads forever or a window pops up saying "Error: The service is not available at present, please try again shortly." Doesn't matter how many times I try, it keeps happening. Can you fix this please?
I’m impressed with the ease of navigation and use. I like this a lot, but the ads are constantly in the way. Please provide an option to remove or dismiss the ads so that the experience can be uninterrupted. Example implementation (just a thought, not a mandate): Consider making it possible to dismiss the ads for a couple of minutes at a time. Then make it possible to pay a reasonable amount to keep the ads out of the app entirely. The Apps Store and Google Play Store should make this easy. For me, right now, the ads are too distracting to use this app for more than a minute. There is no ability to scroll in out of view. The ad is just there, all the time, blinking and flashing and being in the way. Please consider this improvement to the user experience.
Only thing wrong with this app is that every once in a while it’ll quit and take you to the home screen. Nothing that I know of causes the app to quit; it’s just random. Also, when you see a post with sound, sometimes the sound will keep playing after you go to another image or go back to the home page of the app. Otherwise, the app is probably 10/10.
The app is almost unusable. The ads are excessive and ridiculously obnoxious. Ever 5 picture or so I get an ad which last for 30 seconds and the X does not appear until it finishes. Once it finishes I am escorted to he very first picture on the search and it’s hard to find my place again. I will actively seek an alternative because you guys have gotten disgustingly greedy. Ps. How would those high profile companies and advertisers feel about you selling ad space for their product on an app which shows some pretty messed up põrñ. Just a thought..
It used to work just fine for the ~half year I’ve had it, but the new update has messed things up. Takes about half a minute to sign in, loading times are about 10 seconds every time you search for something, and they removed the recommended/similar images thing! I loved that! I really hope they go back soon, cause tbh, that was one of the main reasons I used it.
Some of the images I've favorited have blacklisted tags, because they're often the one exception to my dislike for images with that tag. A good change to the app and/or the site would be to have a whitelist option, so I could whitelist fav:myusername or other things.
I primarily use Sankaku on my computer and phone. I decided to get this for my iPad since my phone was currently charging. However, the toggles in the settings don't save. If I want to change any of the settings that have toggles, as soon as you leave, they reset. I see someone had this same review from June. It's now August. It could be a simple fix. Why have he options in settings if they don't work?
Love the new design, but I have a fair few complaints, the favorite button is smaller so it makes it harder to press and makes it more likely to either miss it or press and advert. You can now choose not to show blacklisted post in the search at all through the settings, but the problem with that is there is NO SAVE BUTTON so changing the settings doesnt matter at all.
Images uploaded are stolen and without permission!
Found out that every image uploaded on this website is stolen and without creators\artists permission uploaded. A lot of artists request removal of them but they don’t listen to requests and place them under block tag to hide them from people without account. This site pirates images just like kissanime, kissmanga do with anime and manga, and owner threatens people like grabber from downloading pics and blocks app from working. Don’t support this app & monster of owner.
This app is great looking at art but there’s a huge problem with audio not playing at all with videos. Sometimes it’s there, other times it’s not and other times it’s not there just to reappear later. Please fix this issue it’s very annoying
Please add a feature to save .Webm files offline and to be able to view/play them also a function to open files such ad gifs & webms in other apps such as VLCplayer app which allows to save & play webms! 🙏🙏🙏🙌😁 Cool app to get the "full experience" wink wink nudge nudge you need to visit the full site and enable the feature. Suggestion: swipe down to to back to browse. Keep in mind most people are probably using this app with one hand. Videos don’t give me controls while I’m watching them when I tap on them sometimes. Swiping up doesn’t open the tags, you have to press the button.
The latest update lets users with registered profiles use the key features everyone used this for! Glad they finally got that fixed! The app is worth using again!
I liked this app before y’all made us pay for more than just one tag. I’m sorry but no one is going to pay that much, especially since the PC site still lets you use more than one tag. Keep it up and I as well as everyone else are just going to switch to a different site. Y’all don’t have anything that other sites don’t already have posted on them so know your place.
Every time I delete a bookmark that’s not on the bottom of the list the app crashes. I would like the bookmark feature to get some more maintenance and features, such as not letting me bookmark the same thing twice.
Just recently my app logged me out, so I tried logging back in, but the app would freeze whenever I tried. So I decided to update. After updating I was able to log back in, but many of my favorites were gone. Also the app appears to be significantly slower now. I don’t know what happened, but this app is near useless now. Fix this, and I’ll change my rating.
First it was banner ads, and those I was fine with. Then came popup ads, which were annoying, but easy to close. But unskippable video ads, really? Why would you do this? I like your app, but that kills a little bit of it for me. C’mon guys, you’re better than this.
I love this app. It runs smoother than the site does for me. However it gets buggy from time to time. Recently im plagued with a bug that makes the app refuse to show me adult content no matter what my settings are. Ive lost access to almost all my searches and favorites due to this.
You can’t create an account and you can’t login to your account on iPhone. The app refers you to the website but even if you put in your account details there is no login button. How can I log in if there is no login button. Also new people can’t register or get Sankaku plus because there is no buttons to send you to the next page. Basically you can only log in by visiting the actual site but you can’t with the app.
No reason to use this app anymore even when it was gettin more ad based and now locking their content to their subscription which isn’t even their own content, they steal it themselves and want you to pay as much as a live streaming service LOL yeah right laters, your website and it s commenters were already scummy and annoying to deal with on a daily basis so forget this trash altogether now.
Whatever the most recent of updates did to the AI art generator seems to have broken it. It generates less images, with less tags, and flat out doesn't read tags anymore and tells you it cannot input... and that is with the Subscription. If it doesn't get fixed or reverted, I'll be going elsewhere.
app works much better than before couple months ago. but now ads are increasing and make you even longer than before. at least before the ads weren’t long.
I was using it for awhile and then stopped for a bit and got back on to find out it wouldn’t let me search for anything. I even uninstalled and tried again. I really did enjoy it while it worked so that’s why I gave it 3 stars. Now it is not even load any images.
Every few pictures you get a full screen ad with no way of closing it. My only work around was close it and reopen because you can’t dismiss the ads. Also after going through several pictures the app crashes repeatedly. Certain searches will also instantly crash the app closing it
This app used to work great, but suddenly a few days ago, it won’t load anything. It just gives an error “no results” on the browse screen. I’ve tried logging out/back in, clear cache, clear history, even a uninstall/reinstall. I’ve also rebooted my phone and tried it on Wi-Fi vs LTE. Nothing will make it work again...
The tag system is even better than before Love how the tags are explained. I have just a few issues: I have issues viewing some of the webm vids, they play just black I have to export them to iVLC(VLC for IOS) to watch them. (Also can’t save them without doing that, maybe have the save button automatically go to the open in screen for webm [less buttons to press]). I’d also love an in app purchase to remove adds. All in all great app.
I used to love this app before you guys got rid of r18+ content. I understand that apps like these have to comply with Apple guidelines but this is ridiculous. I hope you guys fix this soon because I know some other apps that have r18+ content on it and you guys didn’t do anything to them. I hate leaving bad reviews but somebody had to point this out.
I just realized that this app has now, somehow, blocked all nudity. At first I was confused when so many of my favorites had disappeared or when so many tags wouldn’t work. I’m not sure when or why but the app has removed its primary purpose. I hope this isn’t a permanent issue and is something that will be resolved in the future.
The content offering are great, but this app is very unreliable in terms of functionality. It changes its problems often, most recent one being that searching no longer works in the app.

The app has clearly gone downhill, especially since the devs seem to have given up on listening to the reviews. Been having problems for since I can last remember, lack of tag searching and way too restrictive for its free members. Wish it could just go back to being the way it was.
With the ability to search tags removed for free users this app is basically worthless, most you can really do is scroll through your favorites and at least the interface is less insufferable than the billion ads on the desktop version.
The browse section is very slow at loading and most of the time when you type in something in the search engine, it will say no item found or never loads. The tag section also doesn’t work. Please fix this
