I downloaded this app to use as scratch paper while studying for my licensure exams to work out math problems. I love how easy it is to use with my Apple Pencil and the color selections, however the app crashes frequently which often erases some of the last work I wrote down. Besides this bug, the app works great for taking notes.
Great App!!! One Feature That Would Make It Whole Lot Better...
This is a great app. Trust me. I was looking for an app that I can use my pencil with, and this delivers! I was looking for an app that I didn’t have to fuss with trying to get a project open and whatnot. And this app is the simplest and most intuitive I have used. What makes it even better is that it is FREE!!! However the reason I gave 4 stars is because there is a feature that is missing. I use procreate quite often and I am accustomed to the two finger tap and three finger tap for undo and redo respectively. It is a very nice feature for users with the Apple Pencil 1st generation as is does not have a button you can press. Other than that it is a great app. If you are deciding whether to download it, do it. It’s amazing. I hope that the developer reads this, and if they do. And add the tap support, then I will bump up the review to 5 stars. Can’t wait to see future updates. Best of luck!
While Apple’s notes offers similar features, this app proves to be better in a couple ways. Unlike Apple’s notes, you can zoom in while editing. Zooming in while drawing seems to be a large oversight in Apple’s notes that this app properly addresses and fixes. I appreciate that the app is simple; just open and scribble ideas, concepts, numbers, notes, or anything that you wish to visualize. Please continue to develop beyond IOS 14.
This is a wonderful app, easy to use, and free, I use it to jot down some quick ideas when I’m on the go as well as, well, scratch paper. The only bug is that when I export it from dark mode, the pen color doesn’t change with the background making all my writing invisible. If that was fixed this would be perfect!
I just wasted 2 hours using this app. The background when drawing is black, not sure if it’s based off the dark preference on my iPad settings or they want to ruin what you’re trying to do, after 2 hours of drawing an equipment layout wiring diagram I go to save it and it changes the background to white. Every appliance shape was using white because black on black would make no sense at all and not be visible whatsoever. I can’t find any settings to make this change either one. It was now a complete wash as 70% of the lines were white.
Don’t know how this app gets high marks. I’m using it on an iPad Pro to make a very simple, one dimensional outline drawing of our deck. I’m also using just two colors one for the current deck layout and another color to show where we want modifications. No matter what I do it won’t save the final version. It keeps reverting to the first set of lines I drew and won’t save anything beyond that. I’ve re-drawn the additional lines four times and tried to save in every format offered. But every time I lose all the work I’ve done except for the first few lines drawn.
Very easy to use. It’s great to use as a whiteboard for practice problems and performs as advertised. Bug: the reason why I’m giving 4/5 is because when I try to export my drawing while in dark mode, all I get is a blank image. It renders properly in light mode though.
I really like the concept, especially with the great support for apple pencil. Its really similar to apple’s other apps but unfortunately its extremely buggy. It closes out randomly and takes 3, 4 times to open. The functions are also buggy
This app is pretty much a 'doodle on graph paper'. If Notes were to have a grid mode, it would look like this app. Simple and free, no ads, no pop ups, no reminders to upgrade to a paid version. Thank you for developing this app.
This app is great. Easy to use and it’s free. It looks like I can zoom in only. Is it possible to make it zoom out so I can see the bigger picture of my drawing? Also is it possible to auto save so if I accidentally close the app the drawing will be there once I open the app again? Thank you.
I'm quite photosensitive so I always use dark mode on my devices. While dark mode works on this app, when I go to export what I've written down, it makes the background white and thus most of the white ink I use disappears into the background.
To preface, I was looking for an app that had an infinite canvas both horizontally and vertically, so maybe I was asking for a bit much from this app. I wanted a space to draw mind maps, among other things, so I don’t need much in the way of tools. Once it loads up, you start immediately on a page of scrap paper. Top left of the screen, you can set “Draw only with pencil” which is great, but the setting doesn’t save when you exit and re-enter the app. Scrolling is limited until you “run out of room” on the page, then it gives you a little more writing room, but not as much as I would expect. I don’t think I’d use this app. Was worth a shot.
The zoom is not infinite. It is severely limited. I was looking for a replacement for the mischief app. Something with an infinite canvas and an INFINITE ZOOM.
I usually don’t like infinite canvases since I have a weird fear of the vast emptiness many of them have, but this is different. The dark mode is a definite plus too.
Ok if you click the red “X” in the top right corner, it gives you the option to “delete” or “close window”. If delete is an option, then I would assume close window does not delete, but it does. Lost an hours work. Am I missing something?
So I was excited to get a lot of zoom but go to free form and you get more zoom and get white paper this app is crap so little utensils going to hate having this app beware this app is terrible for any users wanting to get it.
I used this to do section editing for my school newspaper. I finished the assignment and tried to send it to myself. It didn't same my work. It's frustrating when you put in all that work to have all your work disappear.
Scratch Paper is always ready for you, just like real paper. Open the app and start drawing right away. But it's better than paper because it's infinite. You can zoom and draw without limits. There is no file picker and no complicated options. Each drawing lasts as long as your window.
