Screamin' Eagle Street Tuner

So far the screaming eagle pro street tuner and smart tune pro has worked ok once I figured out that I had to turn the Lock Screen off on my phone and disconnect my phones Bluetooth pairing from my radio on the motorcycle. There wasn’t any guidance or help from my dealership but from read the instructions and trial and error I’m starting to figure it out. The only thing I will say is that I keep getting ecm software codes along with abs codes that I believe are come from the tuner because I had no codes before the dealer installed the tuner and smart tune pro modules, bike only has 1500 miles on it. I don’t know what’s going on with the codes I will continue to monitor that, but so far the tuners have been ok.

Wish id have known it would only come with 2 calibrations for the ca model and that they’re both only for stage 2 also that the CA model wouldnt have the auto tune feature or data record and that (hopefully when it comes in) you need the cable to download a stage 1 tune or to even record a ride for auto tune, hopefully this gets fixed cause i dont think the pro street and the auto-tuner are available for 22 and newer cause of the “proprietary” connection port After reading conners review i got it to do a stage 1 tune im hoping that the autotune feature works when i go for a ride in the morning, assuming the bike has to be on for that, the stage 1 calibration popped up after deleting all the history from my Bluetooth connections

Absolute crap don’t waste your time nor your money on this junk for an app..freezes up locks up will not save a recording for smart tune and shuts completely down in the middle of recording for a tune….downloaded it and uninstalled it FOUR TIMES as per the dealerships instructions because there is not a single fix for any of the problems …I bought the blue tooth tuner wasn’t told ya needed both tuners to get any wide band configurations absolutely no tune options for anything other than screaming chicken applications that goes for the wide band as well ….so for 1200 dollars I have to tuners that I cannot properly configure a tune to and an app that is just as worthless…just should have spent 1000 bought another thundermax tuner and would have been done …thanks for nothing and truly proving that I have had my expectations set way to high…won’t happen again count on that.

Not sure why this happens to me, but I am behind on like I think for updates. I can never get the update and when it wants to update it will never completely finish so I don’t know how to get it to update on an Apple phone. also have a problem with mySmart, when I go back in with the Smart with the star that I created, it will not download. It says this file is not supported so I’m not understanding why when it worked before.

I installed this thing and it did a firmware update but won’t connect via Bluetooth keeps failing to connect makes no sense at all . It’s on a 2022 street glide special … I bought it cause I was told it was the best way to do it but now I have broken the seal on the package and it doesn’t work So the developer response is in correct it was found by the dealer to be a issue with the tuner and a known issue of failing to connect to the tuners ..these tuners have several issues and it is known by the dealers and the company ..: thankful for a helpful dealer who was able to prove it wasn’t a issue with my phone and in fact the tuner and the app … hopefully I will have a new replacement tuner soon and not be out the 500 bucks they charge for a product with known issues

I was leery of this tuner after reading all the negative reviews but had to have a new tuner after I had the dealer instal a stage 2 kit. They had no issues installing the tuner and I did a smart tune on the first ride after getting it home and everything went perfectly. Bike runs like a champ and feels even smoother than she did before. I even got better gas mileage. Just over 46 a gallon. Hopefully the new update helped so all you guys can get out of it what I did.

While I admit there is a serious learning curve involved, if you have patience, you will be pleased with the result. Currently I'm experimenting with a 24 FLTRX 117 with aftermarket 2into1 no CAT and the pipes were starting to blue even tho it seemed to be running fine. After adding the tuner and wideband O2 sensors I'm actually amazed by what this app can do. You can take multiple recordings and apply as many as you want over the base tune each time refining your tune.

So far no issues with my app. Pairs up easily and is very straightforward to use. One big thing I would like to see in the future: - an info tab that can tell new people or curious minds how the tuning process works, what all of the various live data points mean and what is or isn’t normal for some of those readings. Overall happy with the app and tuning. A lot of the naysayers for this tuner are probably expecting it to do things it’s not intended to do or simply don’t follow the very simple instructions.

App and tuner work fine until I try to auto tune/smart tune. Stops recording after 10 minutes or so no what what I try. Bluetooth is disconnected between phone and radio. Tuner is the only thing connected to phone when trying to auto tune. Also my speedo doesn’t work at all while in auto tune mode. Biggest major problem while in auto tune mode is the motorcycle shuts off when coming to a stop and have to restart it. This happens at every stop. This is a major safety issue. $500 for something that doesn’t work correctly and causes safety issues while riding motorcycle in auto tune.

On my Road Glide it works fine but the Street Glide it won’t stay connected 3x during smart tune the Speedometer and Tach would not work. Twice while trying to smart tune the app and bike lost connection and left me stranded on the side of the road. Engine light was flashing and pulling the fuse didn’t work. First dealership couldn’t find the problem had to reflash the bike. Second dealership agreed there is a issue reflashed and was able to tune it on the dyno. I think there is an issue with having to use the location service on your phone. So far this product has cost me over a $1000 plus the cost of the tuner.

I’m confused, I installed tuner, fired up the app. And I didn’t get the prompts for location and updates like the video, I also have to manually connect to Bluetooth in the settings every time I use it? I was able to install the stage one tune and such. I check the app for updates on my iPhone periodically. Is this normal? I assumed when I turn the switch to on and fire up the app it would connect automatically ?

You would think that they tested that app with the hardware and the testers told them REAL WORLD results they wouldn’t have pushed this out. Ok I have had my RGST for about five months now. Over 8k on it. Had the “Street tuner” on for about 500 miles. Installed the factory 117 stage 1 tune pretty easy. Still can’t get it to auto tune! It just sits there telling me to start the bike and then hit continue but continue is not selectable. Wasted money because I wanted to stay inside the warranty and not have to worry. Not to mention the tune is doesn’t even take into account the Cam difference on the ST models.

The only issue I have had with it is that when trying to start a smart tune a pop up comes up saying insufficient voltage and that the bike must be over 11.9 volts. All this while the battery is fully charged and plugged into the tender. Even the voltage gauge on the app shows the voltage over 12 volts

Surprised at these reviews, i havent had any trouble, im currently re recording my rides after making a couple mods and everything works as it should. Bike is running good, it didnt turn it into a race bike but its pretty smooth after stage 1. Had no trouble with this app or tuner, i love all the data and sensors and features.

I have the little tuner. It requires windows 10 or higher. I’m having trouble getting the latest app update to update. When I started the update, it says loading and never seems to load. What do I do to get the app to update the to the new version?

I recently updated the app and BCI and have had much success tuning my 2023 FXLRST 117 with stage 1 upgrade. Auto tune has also improved in the app. I would now recommend this tuner/app. It’s a great way to get upgrade benefits and keep your factory warranty intact.

This has the potential to be a simple tuner and would suit my needs. However, it doesn’t work on a 2024 CVO Road Glide. Local dealer and I talked to Harley Corporate and they acknowledged it is a known bug, but no timeline. The last update was more than a month ago, and still no fix. I want to like this, but I can’t use it. So far it’s been money wasted.

Just did the update a couple days ago. Still doesn’t fix the problem and I can’t tune my bike. I got it in February of 24 couldn’t tune it and supposedly Harley knows there is a problem and I’m guessing it’s with the vvt cvo bikes. This is getting ridiculous to be half way through the year and you can’t get the problem fixed. Specially paying 500 for a tuner that doesn’t function as advertised

When will this tuner allow us to turn on oil cooling fan, cool flow fan, and active other harley accessories…break hold in neutral. Why have a tuner and then still have to have HD dealer flash ecm? Please add these features. Also, need this app to work with apple car play please.

Bluetooth hasn’t been an issue for me but anytime I try to view the data it just sits and loads.. and loads… and loads. I’ve tried multiple times with no success. Ask my dealer and they say “you’ll have to look it up on ytube” sweet thanks for the help! If it wasn’t for me trying to keep my warranty intact I would’ve went with a different tuner that does loads more for the insane price. 2 thumbs down!

Bike has spark knock. Installed slip ons and Screaming Eagle air filter. Installed base tune and then did a recording and updated the base tune. Bike is so much better now. Dropped Bluetooth one time while learning but started it the second time and it worked as it should.

This app doesn’t work. The tuner won’t send anything to the bike without the app crashing. Online support told me to go to the dealer. It could be a bad tuner or a phone issue. Well it’s not a phone issue. It’s a brand new phone and it is completely updated. The problem is that it is a crappy app. Dealer will not be able to fix this.

I just installed some V&H pipes and Harley’s Squawking Chicken breather on my bike so I needed their Pro Tuner. Bluetooth is finicky, even the H-D techs that put the pipes on we’re having trouble connecting to it. Seems to drop Bluetooth connectivity randomly, even with the phone right on top of the tuner. They left it plugged in, they just tucked it up under the seat, so connectivity is even worse. I have to take the seat off if I want to flash. The way it gathers data is… not intuitive? There’s an excel looking map with green colors. How to get them all filled in and to what degree? Don’t know. In the end, it does the bare minimum. Not going to race my Harley or anything, so as long as the tune doesn’t blow my M8 up, then whatever.

For the price you pay for this it should work but so far none of the tunes I put in is working on my 2021 Ultra limited with new headers (True Duals) air filter and slip ons. It won’t download updates and the tunes won’t let the bike breath if i put the factory air filter back on it runs but putting the screaming eagle filter on it spits and sputters even took it to Harley they charged me $138 and still doesn’t work!!

I was so nervous about this product, looking at the reviews wondering if I made the right choice….. I shot a message to SEPerfomance , voicing my concerns before I began.. They were so knowledgeable and direct and made sure that I had all the proper info to have a smooth mapping process.. needless to say they were right on!! Overall the tuner does work, you just need to be willing to give up some convenience items, and you have to be willing to put in the time. Base tunes are decent enough to get you somewhere, and the smart tune sessions are also quite nice (see notes below for negatives). Harley has had some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in my life, I hope their product support will extend to this device as to improve the following items: 1. Bluetooth connection should be stable enough to exist while mobile device is connected to other devices 2. App stability to work in background: when you’re recording you can’t leave the application to look at things like directions or anything, you must remain in the application and it can not be interrupted by anything. Fairly inconvenient if you want to record highway driving and require directions in order to do so. 3. It would be nice if the gauges page included a record button so that you can record without having to see the whole data spread sheet on ur phone the whole time (might be wrong on this tho, so my rating does not reflect this small thing) 4. Device background record: different from above, it would be nice if the device were able to continue recording or whatever despite a mobile device disconnect. (This shouldn’t really be a problem if the Bluetooth stability of the product were to be improved anyway). 5. UI/UX: for such an expensive product I’d have expected the application to look a bit more appealing… When I bought it I hoped that it’d be able to compete with the power vision 4 but it doesn’t seem like in its current state it can.

Once you realize you have to keep your screen on it works great recording for smart tune. I now have the se torque cam and smart tune and it’s plenty of power and still get around 50mpg!

For the first 5 minutes of the ride it collects live data as it should. After roughly 5 minutes the data starts jumping around and losing connectivity. It’s drops the Bluetooth and tries to reconnect. Frustrating something so expensive gives so many problems. Don’t not buy!!!!

Was eventually able to load up the base calibration for my 24 CVORGST. Keep getting error reading calibration errors, after doing a smart tune recording and attempt to apply to new calibration, the app keeps closing out. Yes my battery is on tender. Very frustrating and for the $$$$ spent, no help anywhere.

Can you please for the sake of all that’s Holy, hire someone who’s knows how to program a app. Paid $450 for a program that freezes up when you ride for 45 minutes and gather data for autotune only for the app/program to freeze up and all your data collected gets thrown out the window

I’ve given this tuner a lot of patience and still been unsuccessful to get it to work properly. Keeps failing and disconnecting. I’ve read the instructions and done every recommended trick and still no go. This new tuner has a lot to go to complete with its competitors

I tune all my shops motorcycles on our dyno, and the PC app constantly freezes while tuning bikes with the SE tuner, as soon as you start recording data in smart tune live it freezes. The best I can do is use the app on my phone, but the problem with that is you can’t modify the tune on the tune app.

I keep trying to do the smart tune for the stage one upgrades and the app crashes every time. Not sure how to move forward other than manually tuning the bike.

Bluetooth won’t stay connected. And it won’t let me see my recordings. And the app won’t let me report a problem it just sends me to the hd website. It’s junk!

Went to do a smart tune on my bike 2-3 times and every time I pressed program app crashed. It took a non configured tune no problem. App definitely needs some work.

2023 CVO 121. Stage 1 loads okay, smart tune won’t work. Tuner thinks voltage is below 11.9, even though the bike is at 12.3 with ignition on, bike off, to initiate the smart tune session. Even bought a new battery for the bike just in case. Don’t even really notice a difference with th stage 1. Save yourself the money.

The thing connects maybe 20 percent of the time. I have a 24 and wanted to keep it in warranty not even worth it at this point for the headache this pile of trash is. Any other mobile tuner I’ve never had these issues.

Doesn’t link on iOS says needs Bluetooth permissions but this trash won’t allow it even with settings set properly. Fix your garbage before releasing oh wait just another HD product released before its ready time

Unable to do a tune with this as the app crashes every time. Talked to the Harley dealership and even they are shaking their heads with this new product. Feels like I threw 400+ dollars out the window since there are no returns. What a waste!!

I just installed CA Stage 1 at dealer. Dealer’s iPhone pars fine. My iPhone a iPhone SE iOS 17.2 will not par. Is the CA pro street tuner not able to par with the iPhone SE ??

Installed stage one last night the bike started great. Went on a test ride didn’t even make it to the end of my road it died now won’t start just cranks over

Will not collect data for tuning purposes. Kicks out of the session, making data collection useless. Riding bike easy and smoothly, or aggressively, tuning session gets cut off prematurely. Waste of time.

This thing is horrible, won’t save recordings. Spits error messages and will not Calibrate. Have zero confidence in this thing. Hence all the reviews. Dealer blames my Bluetooth connect

Been to two different dealers and neither can fix the issue. During the smart tune, the Bluetooth disconnects every time. What a waste of money.

App updates when ? The App store does not show the current version number ?

I just picked this new tuner up today (7/1/23). Spent 45 minutes trying to get the firmware updated so I could use it while in the dealership parking lot. Finally got tired of messing with it and was going to go to another dealer for the Y-cable. I kept the app open while riding. For giggles, I tried the update while riding down the road. Surprisingly, the firmware updated in about 2 minutes and everything was working. So, that seems a little glitchy. Maybe my cell coverage was bad at the dealer and slightly better in the country? After using the app for a couple of rides throughout the day, the Bluetooth connection kept dropping out. Seemingly randomly disconnecting. (iPhone 12 pro fully updated). No other Bluetooth was in use (except it may have tried to connect to the rockford by harley? Not sure if it connects without using the app or not). Quite a few times the BCI reconnected, but the gauges display I was using randomly flashed incoherent readouts. I wish my ‘21 FLHTK went 159mph like it flashed a couple of times. Almost seemed like it was trying to readout something on the gauges, just didn’t know what it wanted to show. But this also coincided with it dropping the connection and restarting the connection. I already have a tune using the VCI, so I don’t need to tune it, but would like to do some auto tune sessions. Just a little iffy on putting it in programming mode if the Bluetooth is dropping in and out. Final thoughts on the new BCI, and iOS app, the app is a little slow to respond to input. Touching the back arrow seems like it takes a couple of taps before it responds. Also, while trying to update the firmware, the connected/not connected message in the top left did not fit into my iPhone screen correctly. It was slightly cut off and hard to tell if it said connected, connecting, reconnecting, not connected, etc. Otherwise, engine temps, air intake temps, O2 sensor voltage, coolant temp, rpm’s, etc. all in a single place is super nice. Some food for thought for the developers, incorporating a readout of tire pressure, distance since last service, calculated instant fuel economy, ambient temp, (things the computer is doing anyways) would be a great value add. I’d like to see if I’m getting 32mpg estimates at 70mph or 42mpg. But that’s just me. I’m looking forward to future improvements and updates.

This is my second screaming eagle tuner, and just like the previous model, this is an absolute let down. If we’re being honest I didn’t want this tuner in the first place though. I purchased a 23 RG Limited and had the dealer through on slip-ons, and an air cleaner, after which the dealer told me they don’t do tunes anymore they just sell you the new SE tuner as well. Told them to just make sure they at least use this tuner when they’re done putting the parts on, because I really didn’t want to mess with another SE tuner. In an attempt to reassure me (of how great this tuner is) they told me that this tuner also auto tunes, once installed, so you shouldn’t have to touch it after the initial install. ANYWAY, after a few weeks, the bike just didn’t feel like it was really preforming as well as I expected and felt like it was running a little hot. Decide to give the tuner a shot, immediately regretted it. First, the tuner wasn’t even installed, so I have no idea how it would auto-tune. Once installed, I Tried to use the record option, to see what the issue was and it wouldn’t let me scroll down to select begin recording, tried to go back and reselect the stage one preprogrammed tune and same issue, won’t let me scroll once I’ve clicked on the tab for tuning. The texts are all overlapping, the various tabs do not work, just complete junk…. If you’re still reading save yourself some time, money, and a lot of aggravation and just get an aftermarket tuner.

Will not save tunes really not a good app

Would not load calibrations on cvo. Looked at forums and common problem with cvo models. Headlamp won’t turn off calibration aborted code 14 error. Dealership was able to tune with the y cable. But would like to see an update so I can tune the bike and run auto tune myself as desired when I purchased the tuner.
