This app was not useful in Disney Sea and unfortunately because of a lack of signage we were dépendant on this awful app all day. It rarely loaded and when it did it was extremely slow despite us having strong cell coverage.
Me and my mom tried using the app to purchase tickets for one day during our trip. It was kinda buggy and slow but the biggest problem was purchasing the ticket. We tried 2 credit cards and 1 debit card only to encounter an error sign. Both me and my mom tried using out own account to purchase a ticket only to yet again encounter the error sign. After deciding to purchase out tickets through KLOOK were we able to finally get tickets for Tokyo Disney Sea. For all the trouble to get a tickets it was stressful. Mainly since we want to make sure we will be getting refunds for the failed attempts. (My mom got text notifications on the failed ticket purchases amount making it seem like the payment did go through when in reality it didn’t)
This app worked great for two days at Disney Sea and one day at Tokyo Disney. We didn’t purchase our tickets through it but once I had our physical tickets I scanned them into the app. I easily added my husband to our plan for the day and he was able to access everything as well. We used Mobile Order multiple times a day to order snacks and meals and never had a problem. I was skeptical given the other reviews but we didn’t run into any issues with our credit card.
Overseas visitors to Japan using foreign credit cards do NOT use this app. When trying to buy tickets the transaction will fail with an error BUT your credit card will still be charged!!! Even though you never received the tickets. We ended up with charges to multiple credit cards thinking the issue was with the cards and now have to dispute every charge. This app is a disgrace and utter garbage and should come with a warning for overseas visitors that only domestic Japanese credit cards will work or should be removed from the Apple app store. Thanks Disney Japan for a horrible experience and for NOT allowing us to visit Tokyo Disney. Give overseas visitors other options to be able to buy tickets since this app is completely useless!!
This app is not great. Because wait times are ridiculous at this park (they could benefit from the line management from Disney - in case you didn’t know, Tokyo Disney is not run by Disney but it’s been somewhat franchised out) we wanted to get fast passes for the rides that already had 80+ minute wait times. For those, you have to pay 🙄 and what’s more ridiculous is that when my husband or I tried using our credit cards, we kept getting a “there are spaces in your name on your account” error message. First of all, why is this even a thing? I then wrote out my name exactly as it’s listed on my Disney account and I still received the same message. What a waste.
The app is really good but if you do not live in Japan it might be hard to buy tickets and will need to find a work around. Maybe check out a travel forum for more help. The only card that worked was a Wells Fargo card but I had to call my bank prior to the purchase to make sure it wasn’t flagged as fraud. Aside from that the app is really helpful and easy to navigate your visit.
This app deserves 0 stars. Whoever is behind this app deserves whatever is less than 0 stars. Insane to force people to use a product that barely works and is cumbersome at best when it does. Has to “load” data every time you open it and if god forbid you skip that (because otherwise it may never open) you’ll get a big ugly banner that says “all data hasn’t been loaded.” Which then begs the question of WHAT DATA. The map? Which is also horrible. What the lines are like at restaurants? Give me a break and give everyone else a better experience.
It is a bit slow and clunky purchasing a day pass, but be patient. Once you are past that it works great! Wait times are actually a bit faster than what’s shown. It will make your visit more enjoyable.
I regret downloading and putting my information into this app. You would think a major company like Disney would invest more R&D into something hundreds of thousands even millions of people would use. This app so so buggy, I can’t even check my bookings to upload my ticket without having to “Revise my account details” over and over again and still not getting to the next page. You can’t even edit or remove a payment method. So. Many. Bugs….
Really rough interface. Slow to load even if you’re just planning to look at the Home Screen map or wait times. Booking restaurants is nearly impossible, as it takes you through a few different screens that each have their own loading / waiting time. Then the search criteria resets itself, so you need to start all over again. As a user, plan to spend 3-5 minutes more using this app vs. the other Disney park apps!
Not sure why all the negative reviews. Used Klook to buy Disneysea tickets and once I got to the park linked the tickets to this app. Everything worked perfectly; reservations, premier access, map overview, priority pass.
Its the worst app for wayfinding in the park. We had to use google maps. Even if you are on map view it just keeps turning making it more difficult to use. The purchase of premier was also a challenge. Would be available then error. We feel like we missed out on so much bc of the app issues. By far, one of the worst apps ive used in recent memory.
y’all don’t understand how long i’ve been waiting for this app!!! living in Hokkaido but my heart at Disneyland 😭 this app is just as clean and cute as both the Disney World and Disneyland apps! I’m excited to be able to use this at the parks, thanks!!
Good luck buying tickets with this app, especially if you are using a non-Japanese credit card. It’d be mildly annoying except for the fact that you can no longer buy tickets at the gate or through Lawson’s, so you either have to use the app or a random 3rd party broker. And the app doesn’t work. Kafkaesque, indeed. Isn’t Disney one of the world’s biggest companies?
This app is so buggy and it’s impossible to book restaurants unless you read Japanese (and even then you have to enter all your info in Katakana for some dumb reason). Disney needs to take control of this app from Oriental Land. It’s seriously damaging to the Tokyo Disneyland experience and the Disney brand. I wouldn’t visit the park again if I have to use this app. Just too frustrating.
Cons: No search bar to type the ride, the app is slow, the standby pass is basically nonexistent, no description of the ride, the most popular ride is not offered when you buy the tickets, it’s difficult the find the rides on the map. Pros: they have a menu that shows pricing and picture of the food item
I think you need a Japanese credit card or address or something to buy tickets. I wasted hours trying to get tickets using US credit/debit cards and could never get past a generic error message. The only other option is some service called PayPay but that seems to require a Japanese phone number.
1, Can not buy tickets for both app or website because they block from overseas. So I have to buy either by Klook, Disney resort hotel or convince store in Japan (Only if they available tickets left). 2, Can not even look at online shopping on app. Because they block overseas and they even block VPN Japan. Tokyo Disney resort or Oriental land company hates overseas.
Won’t even allow me into the app because of a JSON error. I was literally able to get into it for our tickets 10 minutes ago and now can’t even open the app. So buggy and terrible. Surprised this is a problem and isn’t fixed…
I was hoping to get to use the app to navigate the park like I would in the US, but the app doesn’t even get through the initial loading before it says error. I’ve tried redownloading several times in hopes that it’ll work, but nothing!
The app seemingly caches nothing, including map tiles, and requires refetching data often. I'm using an mvno and have spotty connectivity when the park is mobbed even when I have 4 bars of LTE, because my traffic gets dropped first. The app is unusable. There is no way to get to your prepaid Premier Access QR codes when this happens, so I recommend screenshotting every one. There's no free wifi in the park. Compared to the Disneyland California experience (free wifi, preordering food, etc), this app/park experience is an embarrassment.
For a company that has millions of revenue every single day, they should be able to afford to develop a better app. This app is slow, buggy, and inefficient. Nothing like the Disneyland or Disney-world apps. I know TDL is not owned by Disney, but they still could develop a more efficient app.
When I downloaded this app in the US, I had no issues with it—worked great. Once I got to Japan and actually needed the use the app, all I got was a blank white screen. Reinstalled several times to no avail. Very disappointing.
It feels like this app is being served from an old 90s Dell for the millions of users. Load times are unacceptable and often time out, whether on strong cell or on WiFi. We’re a captive audience stuck using this below-Disney-standards app.
It just stuck after you selected the tickets and then typed in your address (or confirm address if you already have a log in). Tried multiple times but no success. It’s a failure.
A “hard to find what you need” app combined with park rules requiring that you use the app to get on best rides makes this the worst Disney app experience ever—and I’ve used them all. Throw it away and use the CA or FL resorts app instead.
This app just rejects all types of US credit cards and doesn’t provide any standard mobile payment methods like Apple Pay or PayPal, etc… doesn’t even accept Disney gift cards.
I found it impossible to update personal info and buy tickets. Horrible experience and app. How do you not have a streamlined way to buy tickets online
This is without exaggeration the worst app I have ever used. Why not just have the exact same app as Disney World and Disneyland California? I never realized how good those apps were until using this disaster
The way attendance for shows at Tokyo Disneyland is completely random. It’s all based on a lottery system. Even after you pay for the entry ticket, getting into a show is a literal gamble. Not cool.
Worst experience ever!!! SSL errors cannot log in. Keep getting kicked out. Not enough server space and cell phone towers to support this app! Please disney fix this!!!!
This is one of the worst apps I have ever had the displeasure of using. Truly disgraceful, and embarrassment of hideous programming. Whoever made this should quit their job and never program again.
Americans visiting Japan Tokyo the app is not working and cannot purchase tickets! Still decided to come to Disneyland, Tokyo and unfortunately, this was the same situation for several Americans! Please fix!
