Serving the people not big business
I have told so many people that this credit union ( UFCU) has done so much better in assisting me in my financial needs then some of the bigger banks who I feel would rather have big business money over regular citizens. Other big banks have closed their doors and would rather do everything possible to not have a face to face relationship. Ufcu opened another branch in Georgetown and I l love it. I have a friend who is more senior than I am and convinced her to transfer over from the BIG C bank she was with and no longer had an office for her. She loves UFCU AS WELL. I’ve had a personal loan, car loan as well as my credit card . The rates are great . All of my kids and several friends enjoy having their accounts with UFCU. They are ready and so happy to help. I’m still a human who likes to talk to a human when it comes to my banking. Thank goodness for UFCU. No thank you AI

I can no longer access my account
Since the change I can no longer access my account. I am unable to enroll on the website. I have tried to do so using my phone, my laptop, and my PC. Always the same result, an erroneous message stating that my information cannot be verified even though it is most certainly correct and I have tried entering it in every way possible. When I called UFCU for support, they could not help me access my account and were very rude. They told me that they had no problem logging into my account. Nevertheless, I am unable to do so. Maybe THEY entered something incorrectly into their system because I certainly know my birth date and how to spell my name. The unhelpful representatives on the phone would like to believe otherwise. I can not access my money and was flat-out told that none at UFCU would be able to help me. I spent all day calling different representatives until eventually UFCU blocked my phone number and I can no longer call. They’ve locked me out of my money and refuse to help me. I’ll be refinancing my vehicle elsewhere, withdrawing my money, and closing my UFCU account after over 10 years of being a patron.

Very good upgrade.
This app is way more modern than the other one. This one has more features and more efficient and more reliable than the other app. This one seems more up to date. I have not had any problems whatsoever. Thanks UFCU y’all have made me happy and proud to be appreciated and made comfortable with your quality of security. James R. Just need to update faster and put back the written transfer notes when I transfer money between my accounts so I can remember why I transferred my money.

Can we go back to the old app???
If this is supposed to be an improvement, it is an epic fail. Aside from the basics of not remembering how I prefer logging in (pin or face), when I view my accounts, they are NEVER correct the first time. I have to close the app & log in 2-4 times to see the updated balance. Which causes major anxiety when I think I made an error… but no, it’s just an extremely flawed app. And let’s not talk about how slow it is. You would think as long as it takes to load my account info that it could at least be correct. I’ve been banking with UFCU for over a decade- even moved to a new city that does not have UFCU & I still chose to keep them. I’m looking into new banks now. Alllll my banking is done thru the app & they for some reason decided to scrap what worked perfectly fine and switch to this garbage. What’s worse is we cannot even use the old app anymore. Disappointing to say the least. ** please do not respond to this review asking me to call in to resolve this with someone. Nothing short of a complete software overhaul is going to fix this monstrosity.

Who signed on these changes?
Did this ever go into a pilot where there were testers who used the app and gave feedback? This whole change is a complete disaster. Not very intuitive and is a complete step back. First off, I can’t sign out and sign in to a different account, which is such an inconvenience. It’s tied to just that one account you registered. Second, when transferring to other accounts, I can’t see the name to know who that account belongs to. With a family of 5, I don’t know everyone’s account number and don’t know who I’m transferring to when I need to transfer. Third, transferring to other UFCU members is a nightmare. UFCU is trying to go on a more modern look, but we don’t want it to look modern and pretty. We want it to make sense, be intuitive, and have an easy flow. Just go back to the old app or find a developer who knows what they are doing and actually test it out with real UFCU users who can provide feedback to make this an app that we can all use with ease without wanting to pull our hairs out or cringe every time we need to use it.

Old app version was better
The new app has so many issues. First one is that it NEVER updates in a real time basis, so you’re back to being old school and tracking your money differently. What’s the point of having this app for the user when it’s not even working in that area? The design is not user friendly and it’s not very easy to direct. You have to look and click on certain tabs just for find what you’re looking for. The user lost a lot of setting options which makes no sense, the app is suppose to have the user save THEIR time by allowing us to update our address, phone number, etc. now you have to call and wait on hold for a support specialist or go to the bank. I have to repeatedly log on and off just to make sure my balance is updated and reflecting properly. If UFCU was trying to create the app version to be more secure and easy they failed in that department. Please bring the old version back.

Slow and behind the times
This was supposed to be an improvement on the previous app but it’s disappointing and feels like a step backwards. Things that should be persistent are not. For example, each time I log in I have to select the method - fingerprint or PIN. The old app remembered what I last used and I didn’t have to reselect each time. Same with selecting the account I want to view. It should remember the last one and default to that selection. These seem like simple operations and there should at least be a setting where I can opt into these as preferences. I mean, it’s great I can access both of my accounts with one log in but supremely frustrating that I have to make these selections EVERY TIME I log in. The app is also much slower than previous. Too bad they’re discontinuing the previous app. I’d rather go back to that one.

Looks Pretty, Terrible User Experience
The previous app worked great. It was quick, easy to read, and a lot easier to see an accurate balance. The new app is absolutely terrible. I have to click Face ID every time I log in now opposed to simple selecting Face ID from settings like the previous app. When I log in now, it shows an incorrect available amount. You have to go back to accounts then go into checking again for it to update. Garbage. Transferring money to other members now requires many more steps and the funds aren’t even deducted or transferred immediately like before. When transferring money to my auto loans, I have to manually enter the amount as opposed to the app defaulting to the required payment like before. I could go on. The app is terrible. Members prefer functionality over appearance. This app needs an update ASAP.

Inefficient
This is the worst banking app I’ve used. I transfer money every paycheck resulting in a small amount of money left over. The app works and then it doesn’t. I check my account balance at the beginning and end of the day. I’ve learned that when I open the app I have to close it out for my transfer and ‘actual’ balance to show. I did that today, no update happened so I assumed my account had money. Took multiple closings of the app to get the actual balance. Turns out I did my math wrong on my transfers and went under my balance the night before. So at midnight I got a $35 courtesy charge fee. This happened one other time, over a year ago, I called to ask for the charge to be revoked and got denied, so I doubt I’ll be compensated this time. You lost a customer over this. Thank you UFCU for not keeping up with modern times.

Awful
The new look and feel is too busy. My wife and I have access to our son’s accounts plus, my personal account plus our joint account. Each of those has a checking, savings and a few savings accounts to tuck away funds for certain savings. In the old app, we would log into one place, then switch between each account. Everything was separate. In the new app ALL of these accounts are viewable at the same time which makes it very cluttered. You can select accounts to hide when you first log in, but when you pay bills or transfer funds around EVERY account is visible again for you to choose from which clutters things up again and is completely unnecessary, especially when paying bills. AND, there is NO FIELD TO ENTER A COMMENT describing why you are transferring funds or paying a bill.

Frustrating at best
Look, I like UFCU. They’ve been my bank for over a decade and they’ve treated me very well. That being said, this app is *horrible*. There are times where it won’t show me my current balance unless I refresh the page 16 times. There are times where it won’t show me my current balance no matter how many times I refresh. Right now it’s not showing a single transaction from the last 3 days. Why? I have no idea. I don’t want to go back to the days where I have to keep a paper ledger of all my transactions. I should be able to open the app and see everything up that has gone through up until that immediate minute. This is driving me absolutely bonkers. Please, I am begging y’all, fix the app before I decide to change banks. Please.

The app and updated website are a huge downgrade from the previous version
Apart from basic banking the most important functionalities the old website had were 1) the ability to have account alerts sent 2) the ability to place comments for transfer transactions 3) the ability to scroll freely through my transactions without having to load more after every10 transactions are loaded. Please restore the old functionalities immediately. In addition: there is no need for cute logos of businesses to which I have made payments, just list their name. Also the "well done" badge that pops up after making a transfer comes across as patronizing. Finally, we have apparently lost the ability to export transactions in excel/CSV format - it's limited only to QuickBooks or Quicken

App not working
I haven’t been able to successfully set up the new app. The old app kicked me out randomly, I called customer service. They told me that there is a new app. That was over a month ago and I haven’t been able to sign into the new app. It states that my credentials are invalid but I’m able to log in the online service just fine. here it is November, and I’m still not able to log in the app. I don’t mind logging in through the website on my phone but I would really like to have fast and easy access through the app and unfortunately I’m not able to experience that. Every time I call no one is able to figure out why the app isn’t accepting my log in. I’ve been told to update my iPhone I’ve done that, I’ve been told to clear my cache Nothing works.

Miss the old app
I know you guys probably switch to a new company to have your app done but I’m having nothing but issues logging into the app. I already reset my password and enrolled no problem. It worked yesterday when I did it but tried logging in today and no luck. It says unable to process your request please try again. It only gives me my pin to and face log in to do so. It also takes a good 30 seconds for it to load my face icon or pin to put it in. I’m running iPhone 15 with a current up to date. I have 1.6gb/sec router delivering fast speed and no luck. I also took WiFi off with perfect bars and no luck. So not the signal or phone. Please fix this app soon.

Horrible downgrade
This “new” app is horrible. It’s 10 steps back from what we had. I miss the old app. First, transferring money to other UFCU members is extremely difficult and you might as well use other apps to send/receive money. It’s so slow and oats for everything. I can’t log out and log into my husbands account without completely erasing my whole log in info and setting it up all over again. It’s such a pain and not user friendly. Paying off loans you have to go into the loan and check the details to see the exact amount you need to pay. It doesn’t automatically input the amount you have to do it manually. I dread having to log in and look at it because it’s just so slow and NOT USER FRIENDLY.

Here We Are Again
Remember the days where you got your paycheck directly deposited and the money was there. When you could count on consistency and you could get all your bill paying and purchases done before clocking in to work. Well there will be no more of that here Ladies and Gents. That’s right. As a financial institution we have decided with our new app, that consistency and customer service are no longer a concern here at UFCU. Gone are the days where we put you first because, frankly. Customer. You don’t matter anymore. All we care about are profits and growth. So sit in that phone queue line and shut up. You’ll get your money when we get around to it. Much better!
This app is so much better than the old one. The old app looked like something from the 90s, this one looks way better, much more modern. The way the app is organized is way simpler and easier to understand. I also haven’t run into any bugs, whereas the old app was very buggy. The only thing I miss is being able to view my account balance at a glance without logging in. But everything else about this app is great.

Miss some features of the old version
The biggest feature I miss is when you fist log on it would bring up all accounts and show due dates and minimum amount due on that date… also now when you go to pay on a loan or credit card it still doesn’t show the minimum due or give you any other option but to enter the amount you want to pay… I am old and have several accounts so I don’t remember how much each one is so I have to go into the account I am working with to see what my last payment was so I know how much to pay… I also am not fond of the whole layout… I wish I could use the old app and not have to deal with this one…

Change has been terrible
The change to the new website and app has been awful. Previously this credit union was impeccably wonderful and I recommended it to everyone. No longer. The change has been VERY frustrating, time consuming and upsetting. It’s as if no one properly tested before it went live. What happened to this previously wonderful credit union? Not only that, but your customer service used to be excellent and now I can no longer communicate with you inside the website, and the hold time on the phone has gotten very long. The change has involved an incredible waste of my time and energy. I’m in the process of moving to a different financial institution.

Clunky and loss of features
The new app and website are clunky to navigate. Features I use regularly aren’t in as intuitive of a place (previous app and website were very intuitive with maybe two features that seemed out of place or hard to find…now the labeling of features and their locations don’t make as much sense), transactions aren’t as easily searchable as they used to be (the detailed search for date or amount seem to be available but they don’t work) and I can’t write memos on my transfers anymore (which means I’ve had to create additional documentation in a separate place). Very disappointing but I don’t have a choice but to continue with the app/website.

KK will always return your phone calls and either answer your questions or call you back with the answer. Face recognition and other fails
After setting up facial recognition in one situation (poor lighting) it wouldn’t recognize my face and now it won’t allow me to use face recognition. Doesn’t seem to be a way to add it again, so I’m forced to use a passcode. Also bill pay is confusing and I’m unsure if it actually worked. Also it wasn’t connecting to a third party app and because it keeps having communication issues with the app YNAB it won’t allow text verification and instead will only allow email. I’m not sure it’s better than the prior version. I’ve had more issues since I started using it.

Next time there’s a technical issue
I hope UFCU alerts everyone first instead of hours and hours after the fact. Let us know what’s happening in real time. I thought the entire time it was my phone not working and went through so many unnecessary steps just to find out it was a statewide app problem. I spent money transferring funds instantly because my account wasn’t displaying accurate numbers. So this “technical” problem took $15 from me all the while my money was actually in my account. Today on the first of the month, when SO many bills are due for people, was the worst day to not have access to your account information. Awful.

Not an improvement
This app is not as good as the previous one. I was dealing with it until I deposited a check and it sent it to a different savings account I have. It doesn’t show the number of the account that it’s sending it to unless you tap on it, which I should have to do. This is VERY inconvenient because the old app used to just deposit checks to my checking account and now the money is in the wrong one. My mom hates the new app too. Also. Having to press a button for it to do my Face ID isn’t great. The old app used to do it automatically. Don’t like this new app. I will probably switch to a bank because of this account thing.

App Keeps Getting Worse
This new app is so much worse than the previous one. It takes forever to load and it always lags by a day or two at least in showing completed or pending transactions and therefore the current account balance. And then today I logged in, and the last transactions shown are from Aug 14. Today is Aug 26. I ended up just going to the website to check my account instead. What’s the point of even having the app if it’s not really functional or helpful? And yes, I have the most updated version of the app at the time of writing this.

Enough already
These “tech” issues that have been goin on for many months now, since your new “app” was introduced, making it nearly impossible to log in and account logistics being a month behind sometimes is becoming beyond annoying, not to mention wait times of 30 minutes or longer to speak to a human to try to get “up to date “ info on all our accounts. Having been with UFCU for over 30 years, my wife and I are considering leaving if this does not get straightened out soon! Hire more customer service agents, fix the “tech” issues and let us have access to up to date info of our accounts.

Disappointed
This app was never necessary. Since the change, there’s been nothing good about it. Transferring has caused me problems the whole time. When you try to transfer it’ll take forever to load, then say error, then when you try again it’ll either work or continue to say error but then end up transferring every single time you tried even when it said error so then you have more than what you needed. I don’t like that it doesn’t show how much your car payment or credit card payment is due either anymore when you go to transfer from your account. The whole thing is just a downgrade.

Where is the option to transfer funds to other members?
There was an option to transfer funds to other members and that is how families share funds, without using zelle, venmo and others. It was very helpful to do instant transfer internally. I can’t see that option and the one close to this is to transfer funds via phone or email! This is a pain in the neck! Please bring back that transfer to other members option. Thank you and gracias!

Mostly useful but inaccurate😕
Edit: HUGE FLAW. pending transactions are inconsistent. Unlike the on line version they used to offer this app rarely reflects acurate pending transactions. It worked at first when I reviewed it originally and I would love to update this again when they fix this problem. Finally what this app should have always been! This is an app I can use. The old one was frustratingly limited. & I used it only a couple times to deposit checks & then deleted it & used the web version. This app is unchained🙌🏽

Very poor user interface
There is so much white space that you can’t see all the information available all at once. I can only see three transactions on any given screen. Transactions are not ordered by most recent. Instead I have to scroll down to get to the most recent information. I am on my children’s accounts. I can remove those from my main screen but when I try to transfer money, those accounts are available in the list and I have to scroll through a ton of accounts to finally get to the bottom where my checking account is available to select. Really? When I tried to pay a bill on my computer, there is so much white space that the modal pop-up doesn’t have room on the screen. I had to maximize my browser window, or plug-in my big monitor, or decrease the size of my window to even see the submit button. I hope UFCU did not pay a lot for this new system because they did not get a lot of useful functionality.

Can’t write memos anymore
I like that this new app makes it much easier to transfer between my various accounts (like my joint account whose main account holder is my spouse, the old way required me entering the account information every single time). But I HATE that I can’t write memos. I need my husband to be able to tell me why he’s transferring money inside the app because it’s much easier to see it right there, just like I want him to be able to see the reasons I’m transferring money. Please implement this feature again!

Mobile App picture
I’m sorry, UFCU I don’t think that you have an excellent choice at the picture that’s on the mobile app of people in their bathing suits. I understand that it’s Townlake, but I’m Christian and every time I have to turn on my phone I get to see these people in their bathing suits and personally I think it’s inappropriate. I wish that you would change the picture to something that is more of Austin that has nothing to do with people in their bathing suits. Rather a beautiful skyline. Anything would be better than seeing these people… I don’t know who took the photo, but it’s not even that great of a photo either.

New platform triples my task time not saves
Since the roll out of the “upgrade”, I am not able to add descriptions for the transfer on the app! Additionally same issue online. Oh sure, you can the comment AFTER you made the transfer but must go into each acct that the moved the funds from and to. Plus - whatever description you added online DOES NOT appear on the app if you need to reference!! I am so tired of bringing this issue up for nearly a year with no response — I am ready to change banks. I have spoken with friends who bank here and the express the same frustration! You really need to listen to your members.

Alerts are not work and no Zelle
Updated app to get alerts for balances and alerts have not worked. I have the updated app and set alerts no push notifications are coming through to phone and I have all the setting set up correctly. Also there is no Zelle feature. I can not use debit card through Zelle app. Needs integration with Zelle. Alerts need to work.

Updated App and Website Not Showing Enough Details
The new app and website look great. My only complaint is that when doing account verifications with deposits from outside companies (e.g., Plaid), you no longer have access to the description details that are needed to verify the deposits to your checking or savings accounts, therefore I cannot link my UFCU bank account so I can move earnings from my Uber Eats debit account to my UFCU checking account. Can this be fixed?

Horrible banking app
Each time we have to download a new app from these people it's a regression. The balances on accounts are always inaccurate as the way the data seems to update is too slow. I can't trust the balances I see when I go to the account page. I have to refresh this multiple times and it sometimes is still wrong. Basically, I can't quickly check my accounts and move money properly if the app can't even be trusted. How is it still possible to make an application this bad these days? UFCU continues to make a strong case why I should take my money elsewhere

Never works. Switching banks
Update months later-new app update and its even worse! I cant even log in now!! This app is rarely ever working regardless of how many updates and here lately its an update almost every day! Ive been with the bank for years and honestly i am shopping around for a new bank that will actually be able to show me my balance when i need to know and not keep me constantly trying to find my information. The texts are super delayed and not at all correct so I try to use the app to know what i have and even that is a fail. Terrible experience!!!

Great app, love the bank, but there’s still issues with the app.
Every couple of months, the app with log me out by itself, and make me put my login information to log back in. When I try to and press the “login” button, the app freezes and doesn’t let me through. This needs to be fixed. I can’t view my banking information now, and I work on the road as a trucker. With all the bug fixes you guys put out, this is still persisting… It’s making me reconsider you guys as my bank now. Please fix this, stat.

Terrible
Honestly, all this app does is change the aesthetic. If you’re happy with that, good for you. I’m not. They removed so many features and basic functions. I can’t see my accounts at a glance anymore. It doesn’t tell me when loan payments are due anymore. It doesn’t tell me how much I owe a month anymore. When you go pay, it only gives you a manual input option. This app is sleek looking, and that’s all it has going for it. Absolutely hate it. Despise it actually. If it’s not gonna give me basic features that the older app had, I might as well just delete it. It doesn’t do me any good anymore.

Maintenance overdraft scam
Every day this app goes under maintenance I mean every freaking day if not every other two days at the least or most, I don’t know every other day or every day I open this app up. It’s under maintenance and supposedly you can’t see your balance so you think you spend within your limitsbut it lets you overdraft and negative even though this bank account can’t overdraft and then you’re stuck paying back Also, for some reason, it asked for an update like literally every one to three days. I’ve never updated an app so much in my life.

So bad
I agree with other reviewers, the app on the iPad lost functionality in this upgrade. The app does not scale. That’s bad enough, looking at an iphone sized website on an 11” screen. But then the font size is large on the function pages, bill pay for instance, so you can’t see the whole page on the screen. It requires scrolling back and forth just to read a line. Please create an iPad specific version of the app.

Bill pay doesn’t work like the old app
Things I like about the new app: easier log-in. I can easily transfer money into my children’s accounts. Things I don’t like: Hard to navigate. Cannot customize the Home Screen so I have multiple accounts listed and it’s way too busy. The bill pay did not work. I set up two payments and they sent ME the checks, instead of the mortgage and credit card company. Thanks UFCU. Now I get to deal with a late payment issue. I never had this issue with the old app.

Slow and inaccurate
Whenever I log in I have to refresh the app several times to get an “updated” balance that shows my transactions for the day, half the time it is still wrong. The other day it wasn’t letting me log in at all saying the password was incorrect. The next day I tried to log in again and it worked, without me having to change my password. Every single night the app is down for “system maintenance”. I haaaaaaate this app and it makes me want to switch banks.

Crap app, bring back the old until you improve this
Why release a new app when the old performs so much better, just for pretty colors??? The new app is painfully slow to load (esp when only certain accounts are selected for display), it doesn’t refresh data well/predictably/consistently, it doesn’t show pending transactions in a timely manner (sometimes a day later), I have to scroll to see all my accounts vs seeing them all on 1 screen, and so much more. This is total crap, please let us at least use the old one until this one is fixed.

Terrible App
They have the WORST ONLINE BANKING EVERRRRR!!!!!! They only have options to check your money or move it around nothing else you can’t even print your bank statements or anything unless you screenshot them this app is horrible and makes the whole credit union look terrible they always do maintenance during the worst most inconvenient times of the day and you can’t access anything and you have to call to get anything resolved I absolutely hate this app so bad zero stars wasn’t an option unfortunately get a real app this is nothing but a balance report

The update lacks. Now I need to regain access and when I try logging in it gets stuck and locks up so I can't access the login button. Closed out and attempted twice, now I had to delete and redownload. Then They sent a survey then several emails asking for feedback but it wasn't about their app and how to improve it but what other institutions they are competing with which was lame. How's about re-adding the shared branch locator inside the app like it used to be in the old app?!? Please and thank you!

Payment Option
Needs info if payment is on Auto Pay, if it has been made for the month or not needed, when the next auto pay will be and this should be for both credit cards and also loans. Establishing credit score is the overall goal which should also show where we stand with UFCU. Reason is I used to get paid every week but with my new salary it is every two weeks which makes payments that much harder to track. That is why I gave 1 star updates should always simplify and improve. Thank you

So frustrating
I can’t believe an institution as wonderful as UFCU forces its patrons to battle with this horrible app. Since the big redesign, this app has been consistently awful. When it lets me in, it’s fine. But I have had to re-credential my iPhone several times and, when that doesn’t work, there’s no option to reset the password. Are you trying to push us to the desktop? That interface is also bad since the big redesign. Did y’all go with the cheapest bid or something? I hope our accounts are more secure now. I mean, I can’t get in.

The app is not accurate
Since I transferred to this new app my checking balance never updated, it completely misleading and I can’t see all the transactions I made. The setup is also bad as he put all the checking accounts together and the savings together so if you have your kids accounts under you you need to memorize your account number because it doesn’t show anything to inform you this is yours or there’s account. I don’t like the app and it’s very hard to navigate.

Constantly Locked Account
I keep getting error messages about my account being locked. It is happening with some regularity. Yesterday I had to call the bracnh to get it reset. Last week I got locked out despite having Face ID. The week before that I went into my nearest branch and it got reset. This is very frustrating and concerning given the increase of cyberattacks. Plz look into these issues before it is a serious matter for all of us UFCU members. I can’t be the only one.
