Have this system for years. Have more items over the years. The interconnect with internet has improved. I can control in and out of the house via wall panel, iPhone, watch. Only complaint is the video doorbell. Notification time is slow and person has already left the porch by the time I get to camera to view. Highly recommend vector. Very pleased with their service.
Hi have you ever wanted a 1 year contract with a security company because you weren’t sure about having them then this not the company for you because instead of a 1 year contract it’s going to be a 5 year contract and there system is broken half the time I have had my alarm go off 2 times this week for doors that were locked and shut the door sensors are broke the majority of the time the camera pointing directly at our cars didn’t even catch anyone getting into them or even walking away but yet it will show me the black cat across the street in the middle of the night so in conclusion if you want a system that doesn’t even work properly and be stuck with it without a choice because that 1 year contract you signed is actually a 5 year contract and I don’t even feel safe having it because of the issues which is low key traumatic because not I don’t believe it when the alarm goes off I just get up and turn it off and go back to bed because it’s always a fake alarm and then I have to deal with cops for no reason which causes even greater danger
After posting the below review Vector reached out to me and did a wonderful job adjusting the system settings at no additional charge. If your having trouble with your system allow them to adjust the settings. Past post I’m renting a house with This security currently installed. It’s much cheaper to keep than purchase a different one. I would suggest they hire an AX specialist / Change Management consultant to help with user experience. The alerts are annoying. Needs a link from the text alert to the sight alert. Need ability to narrow alert line without the extra charge (user experience). Here are a few examples. I am bias..I have used other systems and where pleased. All the things that make this one more pleasant are up charges. So if you already have the system its not worth buying new equipment for a better experience. BUT if your shopping go with Vivint or others for the same overall price.
Recently I sent a email to the corporate office and ask them to fix the way we have to delete videos in order to see resent videos you have to spend hrs deleting older videos until you delete enough tone at a time to catch up before you can see more recent videos. Now if they could fix it to where if a important video is deleted by mistake a Senior tech could help restore it within a certain amount of time could bring it back maybe 2or 3 days of the event before it is gone for good. I was hit by a car in front of the hose during the confusion my wife accidentally deleted the video it showed the driver put the car in gear and punched the gas I was injured but not to the point I had to have Emergency help so coul not file police report no proof
I don’t know what’s been going on with the app and the overall settings lately, but please fix it! Whenever there’s a panel picture sent to my phone, the thumbnail no longer shows. Instead, it’s a blank thumbnail and I have to click on it and it opens the picture through a website (which doesn’t always work). Also, for Arm/Disarm notifications, there’s no longer an option for just unspecified users. I don’t need to be notified when I arm/disarm, but I would like to be notified when anyone else arms/disarms. There’s no long an option for that. The only other option in web/mobile app/unspecified user, which then notifies me when I arm/disarm through the app. The app USED to work great and now it’s all messed up.
I’ve been a customer for over a year but the past month my alarm system has consistently been giving me false alarms. I’ve complained and now my cameras no longer pick up human nor vehicles with outside cameras only alert animals. Inside my motion sensors don’t pick up movement. Only if a door is open. They offered to bypass my motion sensors because they keep going off and I declined because I got the system to detect if someone is in my home while I’m away. But it appears they still went ahead and done that. After 5pm you can’t speak with anyone and the earliest they want to schedule a tech is 10am. Not saying the company is bad, just no longer for me with the manipulation of my system turning off my alerts was not cool.
App worked great until the last update- now it keeps freezing and I have to restart it. Nothing changed with our home network so it’s not a connectivity issue. Really inconvenient when the camera detects movement and it takes me five or six minutes to pull up the camera in the app. I do like all of the new features since the update though, especially being able to see what % of recording I have left each month and the easy way to override sensors now.
The app is very comprehensive, useful, and relatively easy to use. It gives full control of your security system in a well designed interface. The only thing i would suggest to improve is to make the text in the various setting sections black instead of grey, and bigger. its so tiny and hard to read, you almost need a magnifying glass to see it, and the light color doesnt help. if the user could pick these options, and font, that would be much better.
Neither the iPhone app nor the iPad app will allow you to remove old access devices,. A warning comes up and says it’s permanent, are you sure, but no way to say yes. I also find it troubling that when I sign in with my iPad, it reports that I’m signed in with my iPhone. Would be nice if I could add an additional compatible device without having to call my provider. Then, to top it off my husband has logged in with his new phone and it doesn’t show in he devices list at all, but 2 of his old iPhones do. Otherwise, decent app.
My alarm is great but the camera in the back half the time it doesn’t work I went back there and just stood in front of the camera then I wait about 15?minutes and it never record me they have come out a number of times and it work for a day or two and then it records when it wants and I have to keep paying for this for the next tw years. They don’t call you back in a timely manner I would not recommend this service to anyone can’t wait until my two years are over
An Improvement From Earlier Model but Some Undesirable Features
Simple to operate but has some somewhat annoying features. The display is very bright even at its dimmest setting. If in a room where you sleep it illuminates after being set and stays lit for a very long time. Also if you don’t set the alarm with your phone in silent mode it beeps for a long time and counts down from 10. If you have children that go to sleep early, it will wake them if you can’t set the alarm early in the evening. Other than that, the interface is an improvement over previous models.
Is there anything this can’t do? I can control my security system, door locks, inside & outside lighting, garage doors, thermostats, bathroom exhaust fans, small powered things like my daughters curling iron and have peace of mind that if there is a water leak the system will automatically cut off the water supply to my house. This app gives my house a PhD in the world of smart homes.
The two step notification is an epic failure. I have tried for months to get my family members setup with their own passwords for the app and they do not receive the emails that allow them to do so,; they have used my sign for the app. I have called support only to get a run around about why it is not working. Their help desk is only available from from 8:00 to 5:00 on weekdays and are not trained well enough to help me resolve the problem. I have had this service for years but will not recommend it. Please try another service.
We called time and time and time again to inform you that door bell does indicate when someone is there. It seems like with all the ads, commercials and technology that it should be a simple fix. People leave packages at door and we never know until we go to mail box which indicates we have mail. When someone rings the door bell it doesn’t connect and we can’t see who rang until after they have left. Please help a paying customer.
I’ve been using y’all’s app for the last 10 years. It started out pretty good but as the time went by, it started to get more confusing and more complicated to use. I don’t know what y’all doing at your headquarters but y’all need to put it back like it was. it was really the easy to use and I know exactly what was going on. Thank you. PS . that also goes for the Mobile Tech app as well very confusing. I seem to get lost on that app anytime I use it.
I have nothing but issues for 3 months straight since I got it- lags, slow, late notifications, stops workings, you cannot get notifications for every function like other security systems- overall 1 pit of 10 yet they charge as much as other companies that are much better service! Ive had called multiple tomes and had techs come out and same old issues… I am canceling and going somewhere else! You can come and take your worthless system out!
All of my security needs are right there on my app from locks, to cameras, to my thermostat, to my front doorbell camera, to my contacts and glass breaks, to my fire and smoke detectors. This is by far THE BEST SECURITY COMPANY OUT THERE TODAY! Trust no one else to provide the type of security and home monitoring that Vector can!
Love Love Love Vector ! If you have a problem , they listen to you ! When alarm goes off , the call comes in within a minute or two ! My Dad has a wrist alarm and he has set it off and police and ambulance arrives there and in his house before I can get there ! I live 5 houses down ! ❤️Thanks Vector❤️
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Wish we never got vector security! Had to move overseas on military orders and they wouldn’t even come to take the cameras down nor take any of the features off!!! Absolutely horrible and rude customer service who loves to give you the run around . Can’t wait for our contract to be up to get rid of this trash company! How they are in business still blows my mind! Wish I could give them negative 5 stars! STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!
The two factor security screen, that I don’t want to turn on, can not be bypassed. I’m stuck unable to use this app, making it useless. I shouldn’t be forced to use something I don’t want to access my alarm system that I paid for. Edit: now I’m only able to open app if the alarm is already set, otherwise it stops me on the two factor authentication screen trying to force me to use it. I DON’T WANT TO SET TWO FACTOR AUTHENTICATION! STOP TRYING TO FORCE PEOPLE TO USE IT!
So they make it difficult to figure out how to set up not only Siri but Alexa aswell. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve searched through this app to figure out how to disarm my home through voice commands and all I keep getting from both my systems is sorry something went wrong. Fix this issue please and make it simple to set these things up.
Front doorbell camera doesn’t always work. Alert will say motion detected but camera will not display or come on... At other times ( too many to count) when it does work the response is delayed and whoever has rang the doorbell has left the door. Quite frustrating! By the way I’ve tried the troubleshooting steps all to no avail. I would appreciate a service call....
In order to get to my video rules, it takes far too long to disarm the zone far too long to arm the zones I’m coming down the street where I live at and it still will not kick in It winds up then finally when I get in the driveway, it allows me to disarm the zones
This is actually pretty good So far so good the quality is awesome! And I love how I can see my house when I’m away and the comfort I have of safety is welcoming so I would recommend this security system to anyone and it’s affordable!
The app has so much and not user friendly with quick to find items. They say you have to go to the website to do certain things... between both of them being as generic as the installer who tried to cram all of the info into a quick setting I haven’t been happy since day one. Wanna have a easy secure security option... You can’t pick them up in hope depot.
The app sometimes stalls when trying to do an item on the app. For instance, when trying to review the emergency contacts, it shows the names but when you try to access the contact information, the app stalls and you can only clear that by closing the app.
I wish I would have done this sooner! Greg Stormer was great at going over everything with me and the installer was very helpful. I truly enjoy my system!
Been a customer for 5 years. Very few tech issues over the years. As of the past two months, the app won’t allow me to log in. And now my doorbell is blinking. I’m moving at the perfect time.
This is so bad. I don’t like the fact that every time I go out my Front door the camera takes a picture and before the end of the month all the data is used up. This leaves me vulnerable and feeling unsafe. Also, the doorbell on sounds on the phone. I’m not a person glued to my phone so must of the time I don’t hear the doorbell. Y’all got me this time but is soon as the contract is up it’s bye-bye for me
I have had problems using this app when I need to set and on set my alarm in the middle of the night it does not correctly communicate with the panel and says the alarm is armed when it is not armed and when I try to use the app and it times out before it takes any action please fix this app. How am I supposed to use it to set an onset my security system if it doesn’t work?
Makes the everyday arm/disarm easy. All in one control everything App. from any connected device. Lights, garage, whole system...etc. Delete all the ADT spam emails you get and call Vector great prices and great people to deal with!
I know that when it is late there is no one monitoring the videos because there has been time when the camera should have picked up some things and didn’t. I know the only time this happens is when someone is up and not sleep.
Not worth it if the app no longer communicate to the wall panel via phone or tablet. It keeps timing out. Showing armed even after I had to manually disarm the system. I have no faith the I can remotely disarm my system. This may be a breaking point for me with Vector as other services may provide more continuous support and more reliable technology
App works well, but it blinds you momentarily if you pull it up at night. Please, please, please - add a dark mode option! Nearly everyone else has already ha dark mode for years. Otherwise the app is great.
When Vector app is working things are fine. But, if you have problems, you can wait on the phones for ever to get help. I have another system based on ADT. They are not perfect but at least they answer the phone.
The recent update has made the app useless. It barely opens and when it does things are so slow you can’t open any of the app features. Please correct this quickly. App is unusable at this point!
The update removed the ability to review saved video from within the app. Typically updates will improve functionality, but that was not the case in this situation. The app is only good for arming and disarming at this time. Hopefully they will improve the app in the future.
I don’t like the cameras they don’t Record unless somebody push the doorbell the way it was set up the mailbox takes up half the picture I was told that this camera record when the guy finished installing it that’s when I was told it don’t record you can’t hear the doorbell when people ring it I hate I changed over to vector doorbell
