Two Crucial Bugs

This version (4.9.1) has three bugs, two of them are crucial: 1. All songs have a subtitle of "playing a game" and cannot show the size of music. Also, in some mp4 files, show this subtitle and cannot open video file and open as a audio. This problem exists for uploading a songs, too. 2. When you play a song, the app comes to Significant Energy Use in battery settings of macos and can kill the battery due to the significant uses of battery. - In addition, please add this app in the Telegram website. Appstore apps have some limit for copyrights and some problem such as it.

Please fix CPU high load bug bug

Since I updated to high sierra CPU load started spiking up to 80% on my MBP late 2013 without any reason. I have to use regular telegram app because of this bug. Please fix it!

Not for Business

Version 3.6 of Telegram Lite is quite good at juggling multiple contact chats and managing data, but it is emphatically *not* suitable for business. The fact that one cannot turn off the whimsical text bubbles — and thus, not display a chat as "clean" text, which makes it impossible to select and copy multiple text blocks quickly or directly — severely undercuts its useful functionality for work-related tasks. It is otherwise a functional, streamlined alternative to the full Telegram app.

What is the point?

I downloaded this app on my mac first because someone that I really do not know wanted to chat. So why would I want the person to have my phone number? This app says NO PHONE NEEDED. Sounds good. So I downloaded it. It tells me to download on a phone first and requires my phone number. So I did that. Then I find that others contacting me through this app need my phone number. So what is the point? All cellphones have a messenger. Especially iPhone. What is the point again? I don’t do facebook nor do I have a google email and I don’t want them either. That is my point for even searching for such an app.

Overall excellent

Overall, an excellent product. Latest version crashes intermittently when my Mac is locked, however. Doesn't stop me from relaunching it, but it pops up a warning about not being closed correctly that I don't always notice before reopening. Can I send debug info?

Way Better than the original version

The UI here blows the original MacOS telegram app (other one on the app store) They just need to use this app as the main one and get rid of the other one. Lite shoul replace the other one...

Better than the Telegram macOS client

The macOS client has many bugs which have been ignored for years. This client not only is (mostly) bug-free, but includes ALL of the features Telegram has to offer.

No idea what "LITE" is referring to. It's a memory hog.

As I have Telegram running all the time on my computer, I figured I'd go for the "Lite" version, thinking it would take less resources. I also found I preferred the interface of the Lite version. I have two Telegram accounts, and it's easier to switch between them, among other things I like about it. But I noticed recently in Activity Monitor that Telegram Lite was taking around 900MB of memory. It was using more memory than any other app, and I have some fairly larges apps running (Photoshop, for example). I've gone back to using the non-Lite version.

fast and smart

It’s smart and fast as advertised. You can use it for sharing any kind of file with incredible speed. creating groups is also quit simple.

Appearance text size

unfortunatly this version of telegram doesn’t have any choice for text size yet. It’s very necessary. please set it in appearance like phone telegram.

CPU is working in high freqeuncy

I am using telegram App and also telegram desktop. I found that when I am using telegram desktop my Mac book starts to get hot and it takes 16% of CPU. but the telegram app is not like that. The only disadbantage of telegram app is that you cannot disable automatic download.

I wanted this ap on my computer becuase I don't want my cell number out there... whats the point in downloading it on my MAC if I have to use a cell phone anyway. what if you don't have a cell phone? just stupid.. no point in having the computer ap. do better.

The New Version Causes Serious Heating Problems

Telegram Desktop on macOS causes fan to work at around 4000 rpm and heats up the Mac after just a few minutes. The problem is more intense esp. when uploading some files to telegram or playing audio files in a channel. Theese problems existed in the previous versions too, but this version took it to a whole new level. Please fix the issues. Thanks!

it’s pretty good

i downloaded telegram on my phone first because it doesn’t cover up much space unlike other chatting platforms. it grew on me a lot and now it’s my main chatting platform. this desktop version of it is pretty neat as well. thanks and keep up the good work!

Inaccessible to VoiceOver users

Unfortunately, this app seems completely inaccessible to users of VoiceOver. I'm looking for a third party alternative, but would love for the official app to eventually support Mac's built-in accessibility features.

FAN ALWAYS ON

Since installing this on my MacBook Pro the Fan seems to be on 24/7 I never had this issue with Skype running even with multiple tasks at the same time.

HIGH CPU USAGE

Please fix. Watching private video posts in Telegram Lite, while disconnected from internet will see Telegram Lite use up to nearly 40% to 50% of CPU resources. Problem can be replicated. Thanks

Bigger and slower than the official app

If you're going to call yourself telegram lite you can't be bigger than the official app. This app is 43MB, the official one is 36MB.

Memory Leakage

It has memory leakge and sometimes it uses more than 2 GB ram in macbook 19 and m1!

Great alternative to Telegram for Mac.

For those of you who are confused: there are two Telegram offerings in the Mac App Store; this one, Telegram Desktop, is the cross-platform app that also runds on Windows and Linux; it is a fully featured app and a nice alternative client to the Telegram for Mac (listed in the store as “Telegram”) client. The differences between the two are entirely visual, as both offer a very similar set of features. This version features chat backgrounds and a visual style similar to WhatsApp.

Repeated Force Quits

I’ve been using Telegram Desktop on my mac since 2015 and it’s been great- no problems, works perfectly fine, everything is as usual. But around a week ago it’s started to force quit (crash?) a lot. A lot. A couple seconds after I open the app it force quits. I’ve tried deleting and re-downloading multiple times but it keeps force quitting repeatedly. After a few days I gave up and downloaded Telegram instead. It works perfectly fine. Not really sure what’s wrong, but it would be great if this could be fixed for the desktop version. Thanks :)

Syncs perfectly across devices

This is one of the few chat clients that we have found that seamlessly supports sync across multiple devices with only the initial set up required. Others worked, but when you switched to a new device required re-authenticating and any messages you missed were gone. Fast and works great.

Best Messaging Service

High reliability, top notch security & encryption, and cloud service. This is one amazing application, that works seamlessly with the Mac. I use this application on my phone & Mac, without any issues. Additionally, if anyone is seeking a cloud service, such as Google Drive, Evernote, etc., you can do these things with the Telegram application also. As I’ve stated, “Amazing application!” xD

Nearly Perfect

This app just works and looks great, is responsive and have little wrong with it yet the one thing thats wrong is pretty big issue. When you search for a gif or even just chat with gif side open there’s a memory leak and the app starts to run up to 150% CPU used, starts racing. Would be great if you guys could fix this, would definitely be 5 stars.
