One of the few apps for Large gay men and their admirers
I’m mostly happy with this app, as it’s one of the very few that cater to the gay bear/chub community. Many of us big guys don’t feel accepted or sense of belonging in the mainstream gay community, and are usually bullied or rediculed off normal gay dating/hookup apps. Overall I do enjoy this app, but I wish it had more functions like the website has. For instance there is a forum, but it’s only available on the website, and isn’t very active. I for one would use the forums if it were available on this app, and others probably would too, which I think would strengthen the community feeling. Anyway I am grateful for this app even existing, because there are so few places for us to go online to connect with other big guys and our admirers/chasers. Speaking as a member of the community who has felt like a misfit in already misfit community thank you for giving us a place to feel accepted. Love the features and has always been a great app but with the latest update the app seems to be locking up and freezing. You have to close and re-enter and it is fine for a while then freezes again. First time this has ever happened so I hope they can fix this bug in the next release. Otherwise would be five stars!
I do love the updated interface and very smooth. While this is not a big deal but I want to warn you that there's possibly a bug in the app for iOS. I can't seem to edit profile text in-app. I can't either delete or type anything and I do believe it appears greyed out maybe but I don't actually know. Like I mentioned this is not an issue as I mainly use the web version mostly and since I'm on vacation at the very moment I'm typing this. Just thought to bring it to attention. Other than that this a very lovely app keep up the good work on it!!!!
I was solicited more than once to sell myself to human trafficking on here several years ago, a lot of endless harassment in DMs, and for the record limited blocks (block number cap) does not work. Not a good experience at all, unfortunately moderators didn’t do much to help either they kept acting like what people did was fine. I kept blocking guys that didn’t get the point of no more than once because they kept making new accounts to try to talk to me, and moderators just let that slide by. I reported stuff frequently and those reports just went nowhere acting like guys were ok when it was extremely disturbing and abusive like language when I said no to guys. It shouldn’t become traumatic and feel dangerous trying out a site/app and this one was.
I’ve really appreciated the BC community for my years as a premium member. It is definitely more than a dating app. It’s a great place to connect with others who don’t quite fit in to the Grindrs of the gay app world. I’ve met several friends (and potentially more.) I really appreciate the improvements the app has made over the past several months - particularly the disappearing photo option. Their team has been responsive (which feels all but unheard of) and puts on a number of live events… I’m hoping to make it out to my first one soon. I do echo what others have said about wishing that features from the website like the forum and chat were available on the app, but I somewhat trust that they are trying to figure out a way to do it well. Thanks for building us such a great app, BC!! Keep those improvements coming!
I can honestly say that every real friend in relationship that I have had I have met through BiggerCity while occasionally you might need a casual friend or two on other apps this is typically in my opinion the dating app the eHarmony version :-) I know that a lot of people don’t pay for the app but I have to tell you it’s well worth it to support your community in to ensure that we have one consistent source of communication good information and real people. Very grateful and I hope another 20 years
Go review your oldest blocks and you will see many users have been offline for a long time. Unblock anyone who has been offline for 6 months to a year or longer (I did 3 months). It’s doubtful you’ll hear from them again. Maybe new profiles, maybe just gone. Yes you gotta do it one by one. It’s a consequence of not investing a few bucks in your dating/flirting life. Doing this I never had a problem but now I’m a premium player.
This app really did change my life for the better. I’ve met new friends, had several encounters 😈, and enjoy chatting with guys all across the world..the app is straight forward and there are no massive unwanted unlocks nor shouts you may or may not have interest in. Flirts are a quick way to get a pulse on how much someone has interest in you. The app is stable though once in a while I’ll get logged out for no apparent reason. This is a minor hiccup, and doesn’t change my view of the app.
They cut the number of characters available for your written profile down to about 1/5 of what it used to be, limiting you to a very short profile. This is a “dating” site, and yet they won’t give you adequate space to describe yourself? You can upload basically unlimited photos, (which can take up enormous amounts of server space) but they limit the number of text characters you can use to describe yourself and what you’re looking for?? (Even if you’re a paid user, as I am.) I reached out to staff and was basically told “yeah, too bad”.
You turn on touch ID, it does nothing. If you exit and come back, touch ID is turned off again. Basically Touch ID for iOS 11 isn’t working. In addition, this is the only app I have that needs your Wi-Fi to be exceptionally perfect, or it gets bogged down with eternal pictures loading and disconnects. Edit: now the above applies to iPhone X using Face ID. Google is storing the face ID passwords for a lot of my apps including this one, however, BiggerCity’s own Face ID does not work. Click the Face ID switch to on, and it does nothing. Exit the app, come back, and the switch is off.
Works extremely well. I haven’t seen any problems with the app. The only thing is that sometimes I reply to someone and the app still has the notification badge on it and it does irritate me at times but not enough for me to dislike this app. This app has made it easier for me to be on the road and still talk to all my favorite chubs out there.
This app has not worked well in a long time. The messages are particularly "buggy". They lag, some messages messages go missing or reappear in the wrong order. There have been several updates and none of them have addressed this. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max running the latest software. Same thing happened with my previous phone. I get a badge saying there is a new message, but the message does not appear until much later. Will ever be fixed?
I’ve been on here since 2000. I’ve meet a lot of great ppl from all over, only met 3 face to face and have great friendships with them and a good time when we get lunch or meet. I am pleased with this site as it allows you to grow with a person. If your looking for a quick meet and greet - lots of luck on any site, most are not interested for that type of meeting.
The app offers a lot to non premium members, but there is so much to see and so many members you’re gonna want to upgrade to get the most out of it. When you’re clicking with a guy nothing is worse then not seeing all his photos or being able to unlock his videos. All the men here are nice and if you create a good profile with lots of pics, I’m certain you’ll do well meetin plenty guys. I’m a chaser living in CA and it must be something in the fat free food, but I see very few stocky men. I go to BoggerCity yo get my hand on the pulse and FIND them. No doubt, by this time next year I’ll be up to my eye balls in the downy velvet plush yumminess.
This is the only thing I have an issue with is the fact that you give out a certain number of blocks for non premium users. It makes no sense that you limit my blocks and make unblock people I have blocked in the past in order to block new ones. If you don’t know how dangerous that can you shouldn’t be running an app. Allow unlimited blocks for standard users it helps protect us from people who don’t take no as an answer.
For the love of all that is holy please update the flirts. Maybe with flirts that are more relevant/current to conversation? Also, please make the forums part of the app. Other than that, this app/site is great. Been a member for over 20 years and I keep coming back to it. I’ve developed a lot of long lasting friendships and even a couple long term relationships.
I rarely get my notifications till I open the app and I’m logged in always. Also I sometimes have the issue of the app giving me a notification (after I open it) I tap on the messages or whatever the notification is and it shows me a blank screen
Have enjoyed using the rebooted app. It’s really done a lot to make the BC community relevant again. The UI is slightly confusing though. It can be tough to find what sub menu is required to dismiss an alert. It’s also strange that the app doesn’t seem to let you set the default view to local as opposed to global profiles. Still, quite fun.
Good app if you strongly prefer using your phone instead of a laptop or similar device. That said, it lacks the full functionality offered on the laptop. Additionally, it can be confusing at times to find what you were looking for because things are not always grouped together in a way that seem to make commonsense. With some work, the app could be quite nice.
What is this new photo bar at the top of the global view?
My settings say to view chasers, and it’s bad enough that some very big men list themselves as such, now there’s this new bar at the top of the global view with men larger than me. With all due respect and not trying to offend, I don’t want to see photos of fat men, I’m not interested in them. It would be nice if they’d go back to the version before and remove that photo bar
BiggerCity is a complete joke and their moderators overreact to people making empty threats to others by permanently taking away their accounts such as mine. I have tried to get them to reinstate my account but they have refused to do so. I have also tried to get back online and set up a premium account so I can remain in touch with my friends there but they claim my cards don’t work even when there is money in them. Get your act together.
This app is better than Growlr because you actually get to talk to real men globally or just a few miles away, and no scammer bots. But please continue to make BC better it has a lot of potential. I’ve made new friends on here than I did on Growler.
Fun app, just far too many seemingly useless limitations and rules that impede being in touch or staying in touch with others, whether you’ve previously chatted or not. Makes one go to other easier and fully accessible apps and return here less and less.
There’s absolutely no reason in the world why someone should have to verify their email and their phone number just to sign up. Great way to drive away half of the people (like me) who are new to this app. I don’t want to give up both and don’t try to tell me it’s a security issue because I’m an app developer as well. It’s invasive. There are plenty of other apps out there to use. I deleted this one after they got my email.
Touch ID doesn’t work for me either. Had never noticed it before today and only did so because suddenly I get logged out of the app whenever I go to another screen and have to enter my password every time. Thought Touch ID would help but it doesn’t. None of the other apps I use ( growlr, grommr) log me off ( ever) let alone every time I go to do something else on my phone
The app does a great job putting people together, but it has a few serious bugs. The app has trouble recognizing when a user has viewed a message, and previously viewed messages sometimes show up as new until the app is restarted. Connection issues are also a problem.
They’ve done a really fine job with this app. It’s got its share of minor annoyances like any other app, but they make it nice and easy for even socially awkward big boys to reach out. I do hope the developers will add more and better flirts in the future.
I don’t like the fact that I have to ask people permission to unlock their pictures if I am paying a premium subscription I should be free to look or whenever and whoever I want this is the only thing that I really hate about this app and every time that you do an upgrade I have to keep asking to unlock their profiles once again stop it open the profile ok
Been a member for 10 years and they banned my account
This is the worst app/website ever! they control everything you do and spy on your messages (I was told this by BC support) never using this platform again can’t even share your social media info without getting banned! This isn’t a social network def. not a dating site so it’s basically just a way to give these creeps your data and nudes.
The app is easy to use and navigate and furthermore it works. Never had any issues with it. Unlike those of Grindr. Easy to chat with friends and find others who share common interests as well. A++++. Job well done.
Looks like a great app... I came across some in the site where it seems that name calling, insults and otherwise trolling behavior is not managed by the site operator. Maybe it’s just part of their site, but it’s definitely a turn off in this day & age where you log into a hookup app, and it’s a political ****show...
some weird stuff about DNS or something all of a sudden, worked fine before updating, wish I kept ignoring the thing that told me to update since now it doesn’t work at all and not a single thing has changed about my network environment within the 30 seconds that I opened the app before updating and then opened it again after.
The app is awesome and I use it daily, much more than the actual web site. The only improvement I’d like to see is mobile access to the forums. Hopefully in the future, but otherwise great!
I have to say I’ve used it for years and met some great guys. I was having trouble uploading pics but the support team did a great job resolving it. Definitely recommend using this app
The app throttles messaging without being explicit about that, presumably to get you to pay before experiencing its functionality. As a result, most of the connections I've tried to make are failed from the get-go despite there being mutual attraction. Weird way to build an app, tbqh. No thanks.
They are still mass banning people, even though they went on a magazine and said they would stop doing it, don’t waste your time, by the time you set up your profile and start messaging people, they will ban you, because you used a curse word or had a disagreement with somebody, what are we in preschool, let people interact, there’s a block button for a reason stupid
This app is useless!!! They make NO attempt to attack new users in any way.... They make NO attempt to improve the app.... Considering they're not interested in improving this app you are stuck with the same trolls that have been on this app forever.... Most don't even bother reading your profile before trying to hook up... Don't waste your money or time unless you don't care what contacts you!!!!

I’m on several other Gay dating sites, but this is By Far my Favorite!! I Love that I’m seeing faces and clothed bodies, some scantily, but all with taste. BC is the Perfect Place for Imperfect Men to Feel Loved and Appreciated!! Bigger is Better!!

Downloaded app, went through entire sign up process then it asks for cell phone number to verify. Gave my cell number and it kept saying they cannot accept prepaid or voip phone numbers. My phone is a regular post paid cell phone through Verizon. If the App is this bad, it’s not worth the time!
Right after I upgraded, I’ve just been experiencing problems-from not being able to leave messages to not being able to log into the app. I hope I can at least get a refund. :( Also, there have been lots of people making negative comments about my weight/appearance here. I’d expect more from this kind of app.
I love the new update and it has potential, but please fix its bugs. And change the interface for the flirt page. That’s the only thing that turns me off.
