Quite slow and sometimes responds only after a few attempts. The connection to the iPhone via the QR scanner is ingenious. The unavailability to transmit photos is a major drawback.
Like another commentator said this app is clearly superior to the other WhatsApp programs for iPad available in the App Store. I have arguably tried most of the other apps available and this one is the best by far, personally. Thanks and kudos to the designers... Keep the updates coming so you will maintain your edge over the others.
Basic issues seem to work ok, but there are several interface issues when used with a keyboard case on the iPad Pro. Switching to the emoji keyboard blanks out the whole screen and when typing with they keyboard there is extra white space on the screen. Also loses connection with the phone often, which delays notifications.
After trials with many web frontends finally I found the one app that does all iphone can do. The only app I can send photo and video. Being still frontend is almost transparent. Great app!
I´ve been using the app for a week now and it´s convenient. Good to be able to use the bigger blutooth keyborad on my tablet (iPad). Stable enough. It does what it says.
I was looking for one that supported the video chat. Also, I am not able to reply to specific received messages, as in the original WhatsApp app. I would recommend the free version, if you don't mind the advertisements.
I use other communication apps which do not work well on my new iPad Pro. This new device has become my go to. Still have a laptop, iPhone 6 which both do what they do however this device with a keyboard attachment is very powerful to do what I do. My significant other lives in Thailand. I quit Facebook and asked her to use WhatsApp for our personal communications which has worked great. That I have it on the iPad is what I would have wished for. I could use a sim card with my cell/data provider all over the world, on WiFi bouncing it off the iPhone seems to be good. I do not live on the edge of communications, some months I am only online a few times. I travel a lot, while doing so I am always in search of WiFi. When I am on, I do what I must and then may not be on line again for a week, ten days or longer. As long as I can communicate with my sweetheart in relative privacy, good, done, enough already.
The app is pretty straight forward, simple and basicaly like you would expect. The only problem is that the Notifications, either badge, sound or banner are not working. I don't even see the app in the Notifications field on my iPad. It is very frustrating to have to manually check when I receive messages or to first check my phone and after my iPad. Another problem, the app takes too long to load as well the conversations. I often get a white screen and need to restart the app. Last but not least, the app automatically loads audio or video, without me playing it and cancels my already opened music. It doesn't pause it, it cancels it. I need to re-open the music app and play it again. I'm looking forward to an update.
Tried a free version which downloaded a video then abended to my iPad desktop when I tried to play it! With App for Whatsapp it worked as you would expect it to - solid so far. I will add more later if I discover anything else but so far so good.
This app is essential for international travel. I have been using it for a couple of weeks here in Costa Rica to contact local friends and also friends back in the US. Very intuitive operation and performs perfectly every time. I will encourage everyone I know to get this app.
It's a very sweet app, works nice but the simple fact that it has no notification push kills the purpose of the app. You never know when someone messages you unless your phone is nearby. Otherwise the dark mode is beautiful. Add notifications to app and it gets 5 stars.
Great app! Thanks for bringing videos of young relatives in Switzerland to the states. Affordable and private! Do not see need, however, for nickname creation for review writing:/(
I agree with the other raters. Got to the part "take a picture with your iPhone" which I did. (I have what's app on my phone.) Nothing!!! Anyone know how to contact the vendor to find out how to make this work? Otherwise, I threw away the purchase price. Nice deal - making money on a non-functional app.
I agree with some of the others review it should notify when a new message arrived no need to go back and forward to find out there is no new message.Other than that great and cheap way to stay in touch specially internationally.
I bought the app, but when I opened it, I couldn't get past the 1st page that directs you to a webpage for the app. I tried to figure out how to get past it by reading various parts on the website but nothing is helpful. A waste of $2.99
Bought app, the only thing that happens is that a qr screen pops up. Says i need to scan with my phone. I already have it on my phone and wated it for the ipad, which is not possible. More money wasted.
Why I can't sign up? All i see it the scan barcode!!! I need my money back because I thought it was really for iPad 🙁😡 Also I have to give 1 star even I don't want to! Refund pls
This app does not work! You can't use it for phones...waste of money! First of all, ignore the review that didn't know that you need to have a phone for this to work! That's the basic terms of service of WhatsApp itself. I needed something to help me manage WhatsApp, especially when I need to type longer. I have the apple keyboard cover on my 9.7 iPad Pro (which I love, and I can type as fast with this as with any other keyboard). But I HATE typing on the iPhone. So longer messages with more content is out of the question. Yes, you can go to the computer, but our family has moved away from Macs, that I only have 1, and it's always in use Besides, the portability of iPad just makes it easier to use, and easier for me to lug around the house. I LOVE that this is a one time purchase, so it works seamlessly with the rest of the family purchase. The In-App Purchase doesn't share readily. I do't care as much about notification because I get that from my iPhone, and Apple Watch anyway. Again, WhatsApp is primarily a phone-based messaging system (as opposed to FB Messenger for example). So I'm perfectly content to keep the notification limited to the phone and watch. Set up is super simple. Just have the phone scan the QR code, and that's IT. After a week or so, you may need to login again... but again, that, I think is a design result of WhatsApp being a phone-based messaging platform
Keep trying to review and won't take any names I write. Don't buy this app! Scam! Takes your money and gives you a bar code and tells you to scan on your phone then nothing happens. Want my money back!
