I’m not sure why so many people are complaining about the gym when these reviews are for the app. Moving forward, I hate seeing that I cancelled or was a no show for a class that I attended and turned in my ticket. It’s for the same class 😤! I shouldn’t hear an employee tell me yea the app has problems/glitches. Honestly, what app doesn’t? They should be able to go into the system and correct that. At this rate what other purpose and benefit is the app smh. I may as well just call the gym every time to sign up. 🙄😒

signed up February of this year for Crunch Fitness in Murrieta CA. When I joined I was offered a free session for a personal trainer. I took the offer and after which I wanted to start sessions with the trainer. Now the trainer had told me that I would pay as I did the sessions. Now fast forward a few months I have left murrieta and moved to another city. I was still getting charged $420 every month for the personal trainer even though I never paid for any sessions! Now I tried several times to cancel on the Crunch website with no help and getting error 404 messages on the login screen multiple days. Now I called the manager with my dilema and they told me they hadn’t had issues with the website and that there was no chance at a refund even though the actual trainer lied to me and gave me false information. Don’t go here the management is not helpful, the trainers give you false information it seems to me all that it is about is the money. I wish it wasn’t true I was a member we there for many years when I was in high school. And immediate singed back up after returning from the Military there. But I don’t feel comfortable giving my money to a company that showed little empathy or attempted to work with me on their errors of their personal trainers and their website.
Crunch gym will lie and manipulate you to prevent you from canceling your membership and take every penny they can from you. After moving out of town to provide in home care for my grandma (who was dying of brain cancer), I tried several times to cancel my membership both in person and over email. They refused and told me that I could not cancel at the gym that was near me; I had to go back to the original gym I signed up at IN PERSON to cancel which was in a completely different city. I contacted them over five times through different ways and they still refused. I explained my situation. I asked if I could freeze my membership. They refused. It does not say this anywhere in the contract I signed that I need to be in person at my home gym to cancel. After being unable to go to my “home gym” for four months, I finally had a debt of $80. I went in to the gym to cancel. They then proceeded to charge me an extra $70 on top of this amount for my “yearly dues and late fees”. They had no sympathy and they BLATANTLY lied in their contract. How can you just refuse to allow a customer to cancel? How can you lie about what is in a signed contract? How can you put a hit on their credit unless they pay a debt for something they do not and cannot use? This is completely unethical. I hope they close down.
“Live data” on gym business has no basis in reality
App’s description of how crowded the gym is in real time has absolutely NOTHING to do with the actual crowdedness of the gym. The app literally shows a gym as empty as possible on the crunch-o-meter and I show up to a doghouse of 14-19 year olds and roid heads taking up every single piece of equipment and being rowdy in the locker room. This occurs for more than one location. The app is not only consistently wrong by over a 60% margin, but today was wrong by a 90+% margin. Literally less than worthless feature. Otherwise the app isn’t superb at letting you choose the specific location you’d like info on. And crunch itself costs a lot and it’s hard to get the value out of the membership when I can’t complete workouts due to crowds. Update in response to developer response: I have specifically pointed out what I don’t like about your app. Please work on fixing the issues rather than trying to look like you care by posting empty “please reach out to us” responses to reviews.
It’s so unfortunate that Crunch gym is just as money hungry as every other sniveling corporation out there. I signed up thinking that my gym experience would be a fulfilling one where I could feel valued by the company I paid money to every month, but come to find out I’m just another number in the system for them. I say this because I was CHARGED for showing up to the gym 30 minutes “late”… mind you, I was not taking a class. I use quotations because I was just showing up to use the facilities on my own time within a period of two hours. I work out for two hours, so I felt as if I could come at any point within the two hours. Apparently, I cannot (even though I PAID IN FULL) for the two hour session. I was charged $12 on top of the already egregious membership fee. For a gym that does not know how to manage its facilities or member capacity at any given time. I’d say such a shame, but really there were no redeeming qualities so I’m just left with an lighter wallet.
I am loving this app more so than ever! I didn’t realize the app had functions for you to create workouts with, so you can keep track! I love using it so it looks like I know what I’m doing at the gym, and creates less hassle when I am unsure what to do if a machine or space is taken up that I had in mind to do. Such as, “oh, I can’t use (insert type of machine here) machine since it’s being used?? Let me check the app of what I can do instead!” And so far it hasn’t let me down! I find it funny how they have the animations for the burpees, but it does the job well to know how to do the movements. As for booking classes, I wish there was a way you can see how full the class is, and make it so there’s a waitlist to then be notified if we’re in it. Kind of like how OrangeTheory and F45 have their classes set for scheduling purposes.
Hello, I like that the app can be used to check in. However, it doesn’t always pick up my check ins. I was there today and scanned my barcode on my phone 3 times because I’ve found that often when I scan more than once it’ll take better than when I scan only once. But when I checked later when I was I the internet if it had taken it didn’t. I didn’t see any proof that I had even been there. Please fix this if it’s an app issue.
I recently just got my own membership to be able to have my own so I can come and go as I please without waiting on when my husband is ready to go, well I’ve used it for a whole week or 2 and now all of a sudden I’m logged out and I can not log back in this is ridiculous it keeps saying email and member don’t match when I even took a screen shot of my login info the day I created the account but they can only find me on the computer but this app will not recognize me this is so frustrating I’ve never had a problem before and neither has my husband this issue needs to be fixed asap!!!
The app features competitions for prizes if you complete a set amount of activity by minutes that don’t get updated. Last month I had 10 points short on activity and got ripped off on 3points. This month the app isn’t updating any of my activity at all. The leaderboards are inaccurate because my activity levels are way beyond what the app says compared to my fitness activity from my Apple Watch. I contacted customer service and they told me the local gym is in charge of updating that data. I emailed them and they still haven’t corrected the issue or replied back to me. Shady or lazy but either way unacceptable.
Can you please enhance the app to show “status” of a class I. E how you show once it’s booked but show what for “full” / “open to book” / “cancelled” etc. in addition you should provide more clarity when attempting to book that you can’t book more than 22nd ahead - should be one of your standard bullet points along with the others. And please don’t reply to send you email on this (as it seems to be a trend with all responses) as the purpose of the feedback feature is to send feedback this way.
I find it very frustrating that I can’t sign up for classes earlier. It’s 10:00 am. I should be able to sign up for a class that is at 5:00 pm tomorrow. I would love to sign up a few days in advance. I get having a limit on total class but we need to be able to plan ahead more. *and please don’t tell me to call or email to resolve the issue. You should fix this to make it easier for members. It’s my first week and it’s already annoying.
I feel like most people appreciate gyms having apps in order to check how busy the gym is. This apps doesn’t have that (even though it has the icon to click and check it), the hours of operations (which is important during holidays) is kinda tucked away and im not sure it reflects holiday hours, the Kid crunch hours are not posted (which for the people who rely on the KC to be able to workout it is definitely a need). In my opinion the 2 most important things this app should have, it doesn’t have.
Love how I can keep track of my workouts that my Apple Watch can’t and will sync data to my watch. However in reverse is glitchy at best. Had no issues the first couple of weeks, but for no reason at all(no updates on the app, my phone, or Apple Watch) has stopped tracking. Verified all my permissions were on, and still isn’t working. I reported the issue and felt they gave me the run around and seem to not care. Would rate 5 stars when this issue is fixed
I just registered to a gym a month back and I thought I created a login. I tried to log into the mobile app and it can’t recognize my email even though I have an email from them confirming my membership and my personalized login. I can’t reset my password because it doesn’t recognize my email so I try to create an account with my agreement number online and it says I’ve already created an account.. this is ridiculous I can’t reset my password or figure out if I even made an account or not.. please fix this issue.
App isn’t all that great. Used to sync with my Apple Watch activity and now no matter what I do, it doesn’t work. It’s very aggravating. Crunch o meter never works even though our gym is a very busy location. I keep checking for an app update since I’m not the only one complaining about it and there hasn’t been one in months. I wonder how many things need to stop working before they properly fix the app .
The app is great to be able to look at the class schedule and scan in on arrival. However it is extremely frustrating that you can’t book classes in advance. I would love to be able to add it to some sort of “my favorites list” of classes I plan on attending and then have to confirm my attendance closer to time. It would definitely help people with accountability and planning ahead.
Offers a companion watch app. The only thing I’d want on the Apple Watch is to be able to check in with it. Not there…booo!! UPDATE!! When you open the app on your iPhone, open the barcode and add it to your wallet and then you can check in with the watch and leave your phone in your car. 🇺🇸 Woo hoo❗️ U-S-A, U-S-A‼️ 🇺🇸.
I haven’t been able to use the app since signing up. It’s annoying to have to stop and give my phone number just to check in. I’ve tried to uninstall the app and reinstall and I always get a message about the app needing additional resources and I say OK try to create my account and always get a try again later error. This is annoying and I haven’t even had my membership two weeks and I’m ready to leave because this is inconveniencing.
Not sure if it was an update or what, but the app stops syncing workouts with my watch and iPhone. Problem started in the past 2-3 weeks, prior to that the app was working great. Would be 4-5 stars if it wasn’t for the recent issues which many seem to be having. Only fix is to delete the app every few days and reinstall , works for a few days then happens again.
Current version of the software of the app is causing it to crash before even opening the app. Since iPhone now has a new iOS update the Crunch app does not support it and is crashing. Hope your crunch team can fix this. Before the crashing as of recent the app is amazing
Please bring back the interactive map with all the crunch gyms, it was so helpful. There were absolutely no problems with that map, no idea why they took it away. As someone who travels for work constantly I was relying on that map to show me where the closest locations were… now I have to search on Yelp or google. This app is less glitchy but it’s missing the one feature I loved so much.
My rating reflects the current version. I’ve used this app for years to book classes and record my progress. But the new update crashes before the app can completely open. I’ve tried restarting my phone, restarting the app, re-downloading the app and nothing works. I emailed support, who asked me some questions about my device, but they have yet to offer any true help. It’s been 3 days since I’ve received a response. Needs a fix ASAP
I don’t get the point of this app. The only functionality I really benefit from is signing up for online classes. And maybe the barcode… if that works. Haven’t tried yet. I’m unable to track my activity; it just says “can’t load data,” which is annoying because tracking my activity would’ve been a motivator to me. And then the Crunch-o-meter is pointless. It displays at under half capacity, but then when I tap it it says it’s not available at that location. So why bother showing it at all if it’s inaccurate? Then we have the EGYM thing. That hasn’t been explained at all. Is it free? As far as I’m aware, there is nothing on the app that says one way or the other.
Seriously though, the track a workout search specifically is painful. It’s almost like whatever product manager or designer involved doesn’t workout or at a minimum, doesn’t track or log their workouts in a app. This is coming from a PM, y’all can do much better. Nice inside but never quit after you sign up, you CANNOT cancel by phone, email, or online! You can only cancel by in person but not at any gym ONLY THE EXACT LOCATION YOU SIGNED UP AT. So when I moved and kept crunch I had to go back to the state I where I signed up, or send a cancellation via SNAIL MAIL which took a month to process. Also, they continue to charge you every month youre behind even though you cant use the gym when youre behind. And they slap a 30% late fee on top as well!
I’m really sick of this app; it malfunctions regularly, which prevents me from signing up for classes that full up quickly. I pay extra as a Passport member, and have been at Crunch for over 20 years, but this app is a source of constant annoyance and frustration. Asking for tech support is pretty pointless as they get back to you several days later. Membership dues keep going up while the app quality is atrocious!
UPDATE: 2nd time in a few months i’ve been locked out of class reservations bc the app doesn’t appear to have any connection to the gym’s computer systems. as per a Crunch employee “oh yeah. it’s a piece of F*!#ng S#!t” newest update seems more focused on selling - products and referring a friend are now on the home page and there is an entire tab selling their partner products. products shouldn’t be more easily accessible than class schedules.
The app is very user friendly but there’s a glitch going on that doesn’t activate the “book now” button for some. I cannot reserve a class on the app so I have to call ahead to the gym to reserve a class. The gym is popular so the classes fill up quickly so if I don’t call I would miss out. Can we get a fix since no Crunch employee knows how to fix this?
Touch targets in the workouts section of the app need to be bigger to avoid accidentally closing exercises when trying to edit. Also, there should be a field to add notes for each exercise ("heavier next time" or "point toes to avoid knee pain", for instance).
Fix your bar chart for monthly view of checkins- it’s been broken since the last update (aren’t updates supposed to be improvements?). It used to show the sum of check-ins for the last 12 months. Now it’s just showing the same view as the daily.
This gym charged me more than $500 a month for a membership and personal trainer. They didn’t provide all training I paid for. When I asked for all missed sessions they told me that I used all of it. I tried to cancel membership multiple times but they keep putting me on hold. Two month later they called me and told me that I must pay. After I refused they reported me to one of the debt collector, ruining my credit history.
I’m asked to login every time I want to see information such as check-in history. Normally if I’m in the app already and can have access to my profile, including changing it, it doesn’t make sense to be asked to log on a page outside the app to see personal data.
Trying to sign in and I can’t access my account linked to my email. It says there’s no email to send “forgot password” to, though I get emails from crunch on it, so in an attempt to create an account, it won’t let me due to my keycard being invalid, even though I’ve been using it to check into my gyms
I love the location I go to, please don’t get me wrong about the workout. The app is absolutely terrible though, it’s like they fired everyone on the team a couple years ago and just forgot about the app. Trash app, just get the keychain to check in. Also a life hack: Screenshot your check-in barcode so you don’t have to wait 5 minutes for the app to boot up and have to stand awkwardly holding up the line at your local Crunch
I have spoken to management about my bookings on the app. It is unselect able. Manager has tried new email, new customer number and new contract. I have deleted and reinstall this up many times and it doesn't work. I cant book classes and therefore they dont let me in the class when it is full class. My iphone is up to date. Not sure what to do to make it work!
I’ve been using the Crunch app for a year now. I use it to monitor the activity points and standing amongst other members. However, the app needs an update asap. My activity points that is registered is not reflecting on my ranking. This prevents me from attaining goals during crunch sponsored contests. The app needs a refreshment.
I went to my home gym to cancel my membership and the lady working at the counter said it was fine and I wouldn’t be charged anymore. They kept trying to charge my account every month so I blocked the transactions. After about a year I get a call from a debt collector saying I owe them money because my membership wasn’t cancelled properly that I needed to have it in writing I couldn’t do it verbally.
They removed the reward points without sending any information out on it- I had earned points that I never got to use. I also redeemed them for a sweatshirt that never came. Waste of time. App is useless besides for occasionally working to sign up for classes. Doesn't even always work for that. Crashes a lot. Still very upset about my wasted points.
Please show the name/location of the gym being displayed in the crunch-o-meter. It seems to always go back to the “home” gym, which I never go to. (If I update the location in crunch-o-meter, it should stay on that one the next time I view the app). Thanks!
I got the $30 membership for the classes but I cant even book any because the app doesn't provide an option to “book” them. Instead, I had to call ahead to get someone to book them for me which is a hassle?? I just think it defeats the whole purpose of the app if you cant even book the classes on your own. Yes I have updated the app and no luck.
There is a girl on my app every single month and she doubles me suddenly one day after she wasn’t even in the leaderboard and she does it every single month!!! She is a cheater.. and I workout every day so there is not way she is being honest!!!!
It is super inaccurate and every time I look at the meter it is always really low but then I come into the gym and it is packed. The crunch gym that I go to has very little equipment and I get a better workout at my home gym. The only problem is that none of the other gyms in my area are any better.
This app helps me organize my workouts throughout the week. I ABSOLUTELY love that!🏼 Some adjustments I liked to see in the near future (by fall 2023 🙂🤞🏼): - add “booked classes” to the filter - filter out instructors AND classes you don’t want to see (not that they’re bad, just not right for me) Using the current filter can sometimes filter out new instructors and classes that I would want to try out. And not using a filter at all gives me TOO MUCH information 🤯
Is there a bug that can be fixed out workouts aren’t always added the same day and I’m A competitor on the app so I’m losing cause workouts aren’t adding after workouts you have to refresh 1000x for them to show up please fix the issue 🙏🏼
App works fine. I denied this app’s access to my location, don’t want them tracking me(I don’t care if it’s weird, that’s my preference). I drove past my crunch and and a push notification came up from this app mentioning that I was close by before disappearing before I got to look into it.
I live near a crunch and don’t want the notification on my Home Screen all the time. I turned it off and the pass isn’t showing up in my wallet anymore. I also can’t add the pass to my Apple Watch. This functionality worked last week but I got a new phone and it new longer works!
Tried signing up as a new member, typed in my crunch card number and it said there was an error. I tried skipping that step and exploring as a guest and it says error something went wrong. I even tried deleting the app and redownloaded it and still nothing. I have an iphone so im unsure if its the app itself or my phone. Please help in any way.
