I attempted to use the app for a little while, for the same reason that many people use apps. Out of convince. This app is not that. You can literally type out a 1000 word paragraph, and it can all be erased in one second if anything pops up on your screen or if the app glitches. I started using the website out of frustration, and it’s much better. I have hardly had any complaints using it. This app is basically pointless, and a waste of energy half of the time.
Considering that you have to pay to use this to communicate with your loved one that is incarcerated, you would think that it would work a lot better. It’s horrible. It constantly takes forever to load. When it loads and you’re typing in a message, it will delete it completely. Sometimes you’ll hit send and then it’ll tell you. Something went wrong. And your entire message just disappears. It’s outrageous that somebody can’t figure this out when it’s important for us to be able to communicate to our love ones who are not with us. The idea is great but the application is terrible. I would not use it if I didn’t need it.
I’ve been using the pay tel app to text and send photos to a loved one in jail. I’ve probably spent more than a hundred dollars on the app. I opened the app today to check for messages and it said I had zero dollars in my account so I added $10 and went to check messages and it said “something went wrong” and logged me out. So I went to log back in and it tells me my phone number doesn’t seem to belong to an account! It’s the same telephone number I’ve been using. So now I’m locked out of my account and I guess they keep my money. Any thing you try to do for a loved one in jail just makes money for the jail.
Firstly let me say I am grateful to have this ability to communicate with my family member. However, I waste so much time just trying read received messages and to send messages due to glitches on the app. It is not end user friendly. You can type out a long message but will lose it if the app glitches. I’ve hit send only to find out that the message did not send and I lost it. I have started typing out my messages in another app first so I don’t keep losing data as it is a repetitive issue currently. I have deleted and reloaded the app several times in an effort to make it work. No success.
Paytel is ok but if u answer ur phone or anything that takes u off the page u have to start my ur message all over. Every time u respond to a message u have to say ok to the San regulation every time. When u sign up to use this service there should be a onetime bocce u check with understanding that u are agreeing to being recorded and whatever else it says.
They offer this app as a way for not using the website. JUST USE THE WEBSITE. The app is horrible. It glitches really bad, and every time it refreshes, RANDOMLY might I add, it deletes the 1000 character message you typed and now you have to type it all over again. Also their service when making phone calls is absolutely trash if the inmates are using the tablets and not the collect call from the wall phones. Do not use this app.
The app constantly logs me out, even while actively using it. It frequently glitches to not allow me to view messages, like it acts as if I’ve never messaged anyone on there, ever. It often flickers mid way through typing a message, causing the screen to refresh and the message to be lost. The app has caused me so much frustration.
I have tried to make a video call for four days straight and I still get nothing. The microphone is on the camera is on. Everything is good on my end and the other parties in. If I can give this zero stars I would, but I don’t have the option for that. When the video visits are really important, we can’t get anything like I said four days straight. This is ridiculous.
Guaranteed to frustrate the user. Incorrect notification count, login authentication errors every time and YES frequent erasure of your unsent message if user exits app, also the unsent message is impossible to read because the design is not good user is only able to see one line of it. No alternative sources so developer is unconcerned with having their name connected with a crappy app, notice the (infrequent) update for it.
This app keeps crashing and doesn’t want to let you on messages won’t let you sign in it’s getting quite frustrating!! Even online it’s not working good. Need some updates for the data
I never been so frustrated using an app in my life. You’re always getting logged out, if you click out of the app wherever you left off is completely erased, and there’s never any agents to speak with via customer service. As if having a loved one incarcerated already difficult to navigate this app makes it harder. I suggest using Artificial Intelligence to help at this point.
This is the only app to communicate with my brother who they are holding without cause. The app constantly shows new messages and only allows me to view them 30% of the time. A blank white screen shows up. Multiple reboots, no updates, reinstalled, no access from the web. Whoever coded this app or managed the project needs to be fired. Apple should remove this trash.
The design and functionality is reminiscent of when Apple first came out with the Apple Store and people were still learning how to design apps. Functionality is very laggy, buggy, slow, constantly logs out doesn’t stay logged in. Customer service is terrible, rarely return emails. Inability to schedule same-day video visits is one of the biggest flaws.
My son tries to call. It rings one time on my end and when I try to answer, it hangs up. Circle on top right corner keeps spinning like it’s loading but it doesn’t. Deleted the app several times and reinstalled it, even tried turning my phone off and back on and still nothing works. Horrible horrible App!!!
I downloaded this app for the same reason as everyone else but I never got the option to add the person or facility I have been sending emails and calling to sort this out but haven’t been successful yet I’m just trying to have a line of communication jpay isn’t this difficult to navigate
I can’t even log in , I log in perfectly online but when I enter my information on the app it’s says something went wrong , ironically enough as soon as I typed this review and switched back over to see exactly what it said it logged in . Y’all watching huh 👀
I was able to create an account but now I can’t do anything else. How do you add a contact, for starters? Should be straightforward. The web application has even less options. So now I have an app that does nothing.
It seem like this app is just in place just for the sake to have a communication app. I have been trying the last 20 minutes to open a message and the screen is blank. Please fix the app !
Everytime i go to open the app it starts to load and then closes immediately. I have deleted app and redownloading it multiple times. Crashes every time. Even tried resetting my phone and nothing.
Typing out long worded text that often disappear & you have to start all over. Been trying to set up an intel visit for weeks no luck ! App needs a serious upgrade
I have wasted so much money with this app. The calls cut in and out so much. Was just on the phone for 5 minutes and 4 minutes of it the call was cut out and couldn’t even talk but yet still took my money.
This app exploits families and friends that want to stay in contact with their loved ones. It’s I shame how you have to pay to stay in contact with the people that you love with this unexpected expense
This app CRASHESSSS WAY TOO MUCH!! It pisses me off!! All that typing to send a msg, then it’s all erased before you can even send!! Someone needs to come up with something better!!

This app is the worst!! You pay way too much money for the worst service I’ve ever used!! I’m so infuriated with this company I can’t even put it into words. They know you have NO CHOICE but to use their company to they take advantage of it. I’ve had many many visits & maybe 1/3 have worked correctly. The app kicks me out constantly. The inmates account messed up and a new one had to be created right after I had bought a message pack so we lost all that money and it clearly states no refunds. That was not our fault it was the companies, but we still lose the money. When the app messes up on a video, it’s simply hangs it up and terminates the visit, which is hey serious flaw in this service.. they’re rates are three times higher than any other company. If you want to be taken advantage of this is the company for you. Personally myself does not like to be taken advantage of.. They know you have no choice but to use this crappy company so there’s nothing you can do about it. my message to them is do better. Change your rates and you might actually make more money.. $10 for 1 30 minute call is quite ridiculous. Five dollars for a 15 minute video is outlandish.. If these calls and videos were just cut in half, I would do a lot more of them. Any other company if an in write messages you it goes to your messages not this one you have to go to this crappy app that logs you out all the time and if you go out of the app, it erases everything you’ve messaged. Any other app goes through as a message on your phone, not to an external app. My point is you need to do a whole reevaluation of this a new might have more clients. this app needs to be deleted if it’s not going to be fixed. you can’t use it w/o constant error messages popping up, it takes 10 tries just to login & send a message. i typed a short message that was erased before i could even send it. if i could rate 0 stars, i would. going to the website every time is an inconvenience but it works much better than the app. please fix this app!
Constant error messages. Error massages to read a message I know is there. Error messages when I try to respond to the text. Can type up an entire text and then hit send and get “sorry something went wrong” and have to do it all over again. Today none of us can even log in at all. Error. Error. Edited on 9/25/23-oh it’s gotten even better now. Now I can’t even get into the system. I keep getting error messages that my PIN number is wrong and I never changed my PIN number! And you can’t even talk to a live agent without the PIN number! So I have money in that account that I can’t use and cannot speak to my family member because somehow the system doesn’t recognize my PIN number that never changed? BOGUS. I will update to say the customer service agent on the chat feature was able to fix the PIN number issue quickly. Could not explain how it got changed, but fixed it fast. So I will actually raise my star rating because customer service makes a difference.
