I Love Affinity Publisher
I usually don’t write reviews, but I use Affinity Publisher and love it! I use it for business cards, product labels, and much more, and it has all the features I need (and then some) at an affordable price to boot. The only thing I desparately wish it had is correct handling of variable fonts, considering I’ve purchased a few. The macOS (but not Windows) version of Publisher lets you select predefined instances or styles of a variable font (i.e., regular, italic, bold), which is better than nothing, but even that doesn’t work right. For example, if I choose the condensed style on a variable font, APub swaps in the correct, narrow glyphs (👍), but lays them out as if the text was normal width, leaving unsightly gaps around the letters (👎). That issue notwithstanding, I’m very happy with Affinity Publisher and it easily earns five-stars from me.

Awesome Software Easy to Work with
I really enjoy using it. I create a free online magazine almost every month. Still learning to use it. Thoroughly explained videos and help tips from the developers make using this software super easy. Worth buying it. However after the recent update, it crashed a few times.

Pre-purchase Trial
I should have tried Version 1 first. This publisher is not as intuitive as MS Publisher, where everything is available on one tool bar from drop-downs, and is extremely easy to use. I've learned how to locate most of the tools needed, having to make notes how to get to the location again. Help often refers to Version 1. For example: Fill a text box with color. Help says, Studio/Text Frame/Fill Stroke, but it's not how to do it on V.2: Window/Text/text Frame. Why not have a tool button for inserting a hyperlink, instead of multiple steps. Also need default hyperlink to be https://. people in the states universally use secure hyperlinks. Anyway, I've purchased and will get a better grip on usage—there's always a learning curve. Bonus: No annual fees, doesn't require cloud restrictions/storage, etc. Where's an replacement for MS Office that is not controlled by Microsoft and cloud? Ask me again to rate this software in three months!

Affinity Designer 2 Falls Short on Text File Integration
While Affinity Designer 2 impressively supports the placing and linking of image files, its inability to handle common text formats like .txt, .rtf, or .docx is a marked limitation. I invested in the suite anticipating a seamless experience, akin to Adobe InDesign's long-established capabilities. The lack of text file linking, especially in an upgraded version, feels like an oversight. It makes the task of paper and proposal authoring far less convenient. Though the suite has many strengths, this particular shortfall has been quite disappointing.

Excellent software. Issue on registering V2 is now solved.
I like affinity suite, and I use all of their three apps on both Mac, iPadOS, and now also on Windows. It is an excellent software. There was an issue when moving from V1 to V2. I actually, gave them one start initially. However, now, the issue is solved, and I really recommend the three Affinity apps.

Works wel
came from the CSS Adobe suite and the scope there was amazing. But I couldnt afford the upgrade to 64 bit to work in Newer Macs. this has been an admirrable substitute once you learn the system which was a steep learning curve but worthwhile. The Photo app is a bit more difficult to handle than Photoshop but still a bargain.

Truly Incredible
The ability to switch between all three programs of the same suite in the same window is nuts. I'm so glad I get to learn publishing on this app as I can't afford Adobe. Thank you developers :)

Moving from ADOBE
I have been an InDesign user for decades and had my doubts about AFFINITY. I am here to say, the AFFINITY apps are so tightly integrated and faster than ADOBE! Additionally, the iPad versions are amazing and allow me to work on the go! BUY IT!

Almost ready for Prime Time
I'd really love this suite if they interchange with Adobe was better. Losing text and layers when saving to a PSD or Tiff is a compatibility killer. Saving directly out to an Illustrator file would also be a plus.

Wow! Amazing product and excellent value!
Yes, I am glad to give Serif Labs my money today. As an individual creator, I cannot justify the monthly tax of that other platform. For my needs the Serif Labs suite is just perfect. (I think the one-time purchase price of this suite equates to 2 months subscription of the other.) Please realize that I'm not a day-to-day professional, but I enjoy refreshed apps. I am currently exploring the samples in each product and it's quite fun. Honestly there isn't any harm if you want to remain on the older version of the apps. To help frame things properly, I'm fairly certain there are no show-stopping bugs. (Read: if you want to whine about the price, then don't upgrade.)

Worth it for better performance & features
Amazing to hear the pricing complaints for the v2 upgrade. 2014 is when I purchased Affinity Photo v1, 2015 for Affinity Designer v1, and finally 2019 for Affinity Publisher v1...free updates ever since. So people are complaining on paying for a version upgrade to 3-8 year old software?! It's very smooth and comprehensive in performance on my "old" 2015 iMac and works flawlessly on my iPad Air 4, especially w/ the Apple Pencil. I'm enjoying the new Publisher and the added features for collaboration are a boon for my small design team. FYI, there's a 30-day trial for any of these Affinity v2 programs...so see for yourself if it's worth the upgrade price over years-old v1 software. :)

Affinity Photo/Publisher/Designer
I went ahead and purchased the universal license shortly after it became available, at the discount price. Even at full price, the universal license is a most excellent deal. Having used the Affinity product line for many years, I have no issue paying for version 2, especially when the one price includes the 3 affinity products, on all platforms. I'm happy to support developers who put out excellent work who don't nickel and dime their customer base. Keep it up!

Excellent Alternative to Adobe
Affinity makes easy-to-use professional quality software at affordable prices. Cannot understand why people complain about paying for an ungrade after eight, seven or even three years of use. Anyway, read the description for the new stuff. Using the software becomes easier if you read the manuals. The user experience is tons better than much more costly products.

Looking Good
Only $99 for three top quality editing Apps after 7 years of free incrimantal updates is an amazing value. The fact that it also includes the companion iPad apps makes it even better. I am most thrilled that it also includes release of the long desired page layout app for iPad.

STILL BEHIND
Dear Serif, what kind of softwear in 2022 that doesnt support Arabic/ HEBREW/ RTL typing? i had a hope this version would solve the isuue, that a big community complained and wrote to you about in the first version, your managed to build a new softwear from scratch with new features but could not add a language that is spoken by over than 450 Milion person around the glob? whats your excuse this time ? this is totaly not fair or acceptable. as much as we like the softwear, we are not going to buy your next version, simply beacuse we see it as intentional exclusion of our communities.

Not an upgrade - just another greedy developer...
After recently purchasing the entire Affinity Suite (which wasn't exactly cheap) they have decided that users should shell out another $100 for these "upgraded" versions all the while making it clear that the old versions are NOT getting any updates. This is truly a developer scalping their loyal customers as hard as they can… I'd much rather go back to giving Adobe money every month knowing that at least THEY support their customers and the product.

Yes! And... some bugs
This is a five star app only if the following gets fixed. I love Affinity products. However, this one still has some major kinks to work out for publishing to a PDF. Biggest issue is rasterizing vector graphics in groups for no reason, diminishing the quality of the print if not caught. I had to copy and paste my whole design back into the original V1 program to export this correctly. Major feature needed: Export PDF to Booklet layout. You can "hack" this by using the print dialog, but that also has a bug in it that will result in some objects from other spreads mixing into unrelated spreads. No bueno. Hopefully these get fixed soon. Please reach out for more information.

No RTL support! Come on!
We are 2022 and we still find some amazing products lacking basic features, Right to Left Languages becoming essential, no Operating System, Word Proceesing, or Page Layout App does not suppport RTL. How could be that on a great product as Affinity. You are missing a great chunk of users by not supporting RTL.

WORTH THE MONEY!!! ESPECIALLY ON MAC
I was a PC user for decades and transitions to a Mac after seminary. I also used Microsoft Office exclusively for writing and for the publisher app. Unfortunaltely, Microsoft doesn't see the need to make a publisher version for Mac. After much research, and much wasted money on much more expensive programs, I discovered Affinity. Compared to the priced of the other "editors" and "publisher like" programs, the price of this program was way better and the user reviews were all glowing (except for those who obviously not real publisher users). So, I paid for the licence that covered all three Affinity apps. This app has a very user friendly interface. There is a short learning curve, but there are so many YouTube videos that give help. When I am trying someting new, I simply google "Affinity 2 how to..." and up pops an appropriate video. I use this program for all my church social media production, weekly bulletins, directories, event flyers, printing stickers and nametags, and other editing of recieved files from others that can't edit on the program they have on their computer. In summary, YES, get this program. in addition to all of the things i came up with here they have add-ons that you can buy to enhance your creations. Make yourself look professional without hiring one, or spending porofessional money. FIve Stars - and yes, i have recommended it to a friends, several actually. Pastor Rob
