I am adding to my review…..STILL a garbage app that never lets you sign in again. Keeps saying my onetime password is wrong after telling me my original password is incorrect. This is untrue. They said they fixed it but they didn’t. If this is any indication of how they put out a product then I do not have full confidence in the water purifier. Don’t get it. It’s questionable. They keep lying and saying they fixed the app and telling everyone the same steps to do but non of it works and it seems they don’t really care because if they did they would have actual tech people fix it. There is no excuse for this. Old review: I read the reviews but purchased the WiFi feature anyway. BIG MISTAKE! Obviously made but someone who doesn’t know what they are doing nor do they check the app for bugs. It doesn’t work and there is no assistance when there are problems. Makes me wonder about follow thru and accuracy of everything with this product
The app wants to know your location, which seems unnecessary. It won’t let you continue the progression unless you share your location. After that I connected to the device but got an error message saying I wasn’t connected to the device. Based on what I’m seeing from other customer reviews, the devs may give me a few steps to complete. I will not complete those steps because the app is the problem. I paid extra for the connected version of this filter. What a waste. The app is rated 1.1 for a reason.
The app gives you the opportunity to reset the filter status when a filter is changed instead of pushing the machine’s reset button. The only issue is that it never works and when you call the support people they say they’re working on it. This has been going on for at least 6 months and is inexcusable. Really, what are the benefits of the WiFi version if you can’t even reset the filter status without pressing the machine’s reset button?
App is terrible. Went to check the app one day and it’s asking me to login when I never logged out. Won’t let me login. Won’t let me change the password even when you follow the instructions. Issue after issue with the app. I contacted customer service and they can’t fix the issue. They tell you to send a screenshot of the issue to their email. Horrible, wish I never would have gotten the Wi-Fi model.
My aquatru wouldn’t connect for the first three months of using it. Contacted customer support and they were of no help. The app itself if okay but it doesn’t give accurate day to day data and it’s just not quite worth the extra $50 to have the device connected to the wifi. Wish the app was actually accurate day to day and would stay connected to the internet.
Water filter is amazing, app is non functional: - I need to create a new account every time I use, log in only returns error messages and loops the loading animation forever - I need to register my WiFi every time I use it, and always search for my filter as if it’s never been stored - Any request to update a filter change either doesn’t go through or is meaningless due to the above
This is the biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent in my life. It never works. please take the Wi-Fi option off your site. Also, the LCD screen is already showing spider cracks. The thing never sinks, never connect to Wi-Fi, never works and is a joke. i’m sick of people selling stuff that doesn’t work…All right que the cut and paste developer response.
Both my wife and I are having issues with the app and connecting to the wifi, same as the vast majority of the other reviewers here. This is unacceptable, we paid an extra $50 for nothing. The company should refund this amount if incapable of remedying the issue.
When trying to reset my password to actually use my smart waters capabilities aqua tru app continues to tell me it’s the wrong one time passcode even though it’s correct. Worthless app honestly. Always logs you out and when you try to log in sometimes it will say error. Just messed up.
I’ve had the aquatru connect for a few years now. App hardly ever works. Constantly trying to connect to the machine. Its been months of me trouble shooting it and still cannot connect to device. Save yourself the trouble and do not purchase the AQUATRU CONNECT. Purchase the regular Aquatru.
It’s unstable. Never works. Now asking for location. Lost my wifi and cannot connect because the device never appears on the wifi list (even after pressing reset for 15 seconds). Non reliable at all. What a scam
The app updated and erased all my credentials, no longer allowing me to use the app. I have tried to reset my password and it cannot be reset. Since it is linked to my cellphone number, I cannot create another account.
The authentication to the app is broken, and you have to use the app to check the status of your filters. Basically the broken app turns your water filter into a brick.
I don’t understand why I paid extra for a Wi-Fi component that doesn’t even work. This is messed up and I want my money back at this point. Please fix your outdated app that you are price gouging people for.
Requires location services or app will not run. Developers claim it is to understand water conditions in your area. This should be optional as I just want to know the filter levels.
I NEVER (until now) write reviews. So I mean it when I say don’t waste your time and money purchasing the connect version. This app is truly horrible to connect your table top filter.
Tried the reset password function, the app does not accept the temporary passcode it sends via text to enter in the app. There is no Tech Support Option.
The review posted by KCKV1021 on Feb 17 really says it all. Mirrors my experience over the past year. Largely what’s revealed with the failure of the app is that there is truly no way to figure out when exactly to change the filter. After I changed one filter and saw that I couldn’t reset the machine back to zero, and the machine itself wasn’t sensing anything, it quickly became apparent that the app was nothing more than a countdown calendar based on usage. It would be best for AquaTru to just admit this and develop an extremely simple app that counts down the days for you. Any halfway competent engineer could get an MVP for that live for testing within a week. My guess is they completely outsourced this app offshore and it’s now unsupported, and furthermore, I don't think they have anyone on their team with the technical wherewithal to know what to do other than to pay a ton of money to rebuild a new app, which I guarantee they don’t want to spend because at the end of the day, they know the app is just a calendar counting down to recommended change date. So like their support team suggested. Just mark on your calendar how often it should changed and plan accordingly. Definitely wouldn’t have bought the WiFi version had I know what I know now.
What to say about this. First of all, the app never reset the filter life of our unit (and as an aside, their support team’s instructions to manually reset the filter life also don’t work). Now the app doesn’t let me log in or change my password to try to log in. I’ve removed it from my devices, redownloaded it, etc. and it literally doesn’t do anything. I have no visibility into the life of the filters in the machine and their support team had the audacity to suggest I should just set a calendar reminder to replace the filters sight unseen (even though they all degrade at different speeds so I still won’t know if any are beyond their lifespan or if any are not ready to be replaced). This entire setup isn’t cheap and one of the reasons I purchased their unit was because of the app that allegedly helped you keep tabs on your unit. To say I’m disappointed after having this unit for a year is an understatement. I hope they get their act together and actually release an update or new app that actually works. Allegedly they are working on it but no ETA from customer service. 0.5 stars at best.
Update 3/8/24: Was made aware by developer an improvement to app. Sorry to say no improvement. Now I can’t connect to the appliance. So can’t get alerts anymore You still can’t reset newly installed filters to 100%. So gone from bad to worse. It is such a shame this app won’t work. It has never allowed me to reset the filters to 100% when I installed new ones. So you better keep notes when you do replace. Now the app encounters error and won’t work at all. I had hoped since I bought Aqua Tru in 2021 by 2024 they’d have app figured out how to work. I noticed on my unit it said replace 1-2 filter. It would be so nice if app would work to give me heads up so I would have ordered filters before they got to the end of their life. So now I have to order and no telling how long it will take to get them. Since I couldn’t reset filters , there is no way to know % of life left. Life is to busy to have to try to remember when I put new filters in and in a blink of an eye a year has gone by. So I’ll put on my calendar now since you can’t use this app.
After I moved to a new house with new WiFi, I was notified by the app saying one of the filters needs to be renewed. The thing is, I have never successfully logged in after that in a normal way. The above mentioned log in took place accidentally only after i restarted my phone in the new WiFi setting. After I paid that huge money and changed the filter, nothing happened to the machine, neither could I log in to the app! Today the app went crazy again - it said something error, and it stopped at the login page even after i tried removing the app for several times! How could such awful and irritating UX design take place in such a huge company? If anyone wants to have purified water to get healthy and so irritated right after as to offset all the health and joy you get, please feel free to buy it. Super frustrated!
App is no longer working on IPhone X, received a “something error” every time I opened the app. Reinstalled, and can not sign in or reset my password. When app was working: the only feature that really worked consistently was the bottled water counter. The biggest ick about the app is that’s it’s been well over a year(most likely 2 or more) and the filter reset function is completely useless. You HAVE to reset you filters manually. So the percentages that are shown in the app become useless unless you replace all 3 filters every time 1 filter needs replaced…yikes. The Wi-Fi connection does not support 5GHz(albeit it works), and usually requires multiple tries to connect. Feels unfinished and untested, 1 yr since last update/patch.
App works great for me and tracks water filtered so I know when to replace the filters. I wish the TDS meter was more than “low, medium, high” but thats good enough to know how much abuse I’m putting the filters through. Not sure what more I’d want the app to do within reason. Maybe a toggleable jingle/notification when the filterin’s done? maybe charts and numbers, like how long the filtering takes each go, That actually would be nice, and seems achievable, maybe it does that, haven’t looked for it… so probably not needed.
Paid a lot for this unit with the Wi-Fi ability to access the unit through the app and collect useage details etc.. the app has always been a bit sketchy.. but now for at least going on 2 weeks the app has crashed.. you can’t access the app in any way. Over a week ago I called AquaTru support and was told the app had just went down and that it Would be back up in a day or 2.. that was over a week ago.. Now I’m getting a message on the unit to change the filter and it is a filter that I just changed a month or two back Losing faith in AquaTru rapidly and truly beginning to regret this expensive purchase. For those considering AquaTru.. I wouldn’t do it again!
The app will send you a notification everytime your Tap Tank needs refilled with no way to turn the notification off within the app. My family uses quite a bit of water and getting 10 notifications a day to refill the tank is highly annoying. Just seems like this app is missing very basic things that have become commonplace in the world of Apps. And honestly it kind of bugs me that it was extra money to get the Wi-Fi connected purifier and the app is what it is. If you’re reading this, just don’t bother with the connect purifier and get a regular one and save yourself 50 bucks. Purifier truly is great though.
This app is crap. I try to connect to the app every month as they said the issue is with the app and future updates will fix it but still has not. When i try to connect to home wifi it gives an error “Oops! Something broke”. I have tried with different phone, different network, reset the filter, updated the app, updated my ios, reinstalled app multiple times. On my last call with customer service they said they have been told from the backend team that there is nothing they can do and will refund me $50. Seriously? I see similar complains from 2 years ago as well and still this has not been fixed.
While the filter works well, this app has stopped working for over a month, when you contact customer service, they can’t help you and they create a case with no guarantee that anyone will get back to you. “It could take several weeks if they respond” what a joke! I would have never forked out the extra money if I knew it would be such a terrible experience. You can tell when a company doesn’t care about its customers, at least admit your mistakes rather than recite hallow talking points. Now all I can do is tell everyone I know how terrible this product is and write bad reviews.
Poor user experience. Poor design. Save yourself time and don’t download the app. Just clean your water. I’m simply trying to register a new account so I can connect to my water filter. After filling all of the required fields in on the registration page I press register and a pop up window says “OK”. Nothing else. No “successfully register”, no moving to a new account created page, nothing. Just OK. So I take all of my newly created account information and try to sign in, and I can’t login. I’m deleting the app.
It has been a few months since I have gotten any notifications from the app and I opened it today and it freezes and an error message pops up. kind of a bummer cause I got the wifi to check the status of the filters and now can’t. no issues with the water just the app. guess they are not keeping up to date on their app and fixing issues with it. crap service if you ask me, especially since paying extra to use it with it built into the system you buy for it.
I have tried multiple times to connect the aquatru unit to the app and I get error messages. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it and try it again. Nothing. I keep getting an error message something is broken. What is broken is this app. I’ve never had this much trouble connecting a device to an app. This needs to be fixed otherwise this unit is worthless. I could’ve just kept my old one which had no problem. Way too much money to pay for something that does not work. Please fix this ASAP!
The app is now fixed. So a solid 5 stars. With the lastest release of IOS 17.3.1 this app stopped working. Reloaded and can not even register. Completely broken. Notified the company several weeks ago and still no fix. But they keep selling the Wi-Fi version of the water filter. The filter itself is great.
This app hasn’t been updated in at least a year as the time of this review. The app will not let me reset filters to 100% after replacing them. I’ve tried resetting the filter, re-adding the filter to my WiFi, and restarting the app numerous times but still nothing. For the hundreds of dollars this cost I can’t believe the total lack of support for the app as it’s the only way to reset these filters.
I downloaded the app and played around with it a little bit. Many of the reviews says that it will not connect. For me, it was the same, however, bring a software engineer myself, I did another test. Refresh the app, it will connect. The error itself can be deceiving, I imagined it being a state problem that had not yet been addressed. The app needs some more thorough testing.
This app is a big disappointment. Way too simplistic. I could live with that, but the irksome issue is it does not count the number of gallons filtered correctly. And the discrepancy gets bigger over time. It makes no difference where in the purification process I turn off the machine (always after it has finished filtering). I am keeping a manual log. Of course, that pretty much negates the need for the app.
And there is no clear way to reach the developer. So this is my trying to reach the developer because the app isn’t working. Kthx Update: it’s been weeks and it still isn’t working…… they sent an email saying they were working on it but no updates. Nothing fixed. Seems like a huge waste of money for the wifi option. 0/10. Don’t recommend.
App directions - Go to smart phone wifi settings and connect to AquaTru. Problem is it doesn’t matter how many times I hold down filter reset (as instructed) or unplug and restart system, Aquatru never shows up under wifi options. I’ve made many attempts over course of year that I’ve owned AquaTru Connect system and never been successful in getting it to connect with the app.
I have to agree with many other reviewers. The app is so bad, it took me an hour to connect to the filter. I almost gave up. I entered the wrong WiFi password in tye beginning. And it took many resets to connect again. The app gets stuck, the network disappears, the app doesn’t see the filter. Such a poor user experience. Not worth paying extra.
This worked great until I upgraded my home WiFi. That was in June and it is now October. I tried deleting the app and reloading it, I tried searching via Bluetooth, and I searched the manual with no luck. I do this all about once a month working with the assumption that this will be updated or addressed by AquaTru.
I’m really disappointed that I paid more money for the model with WiFi and the app so that we could track our filter life, and the app NEVER works! We haven’t even had this system a year yet. Not cool Aqua Tru! You should make this right! At this point I’ll never recommend this product or your company. Glad we didn’t pull the trigger on the Air Doctors yet!
Easily tracks my usage and lets me know on iPhone and Apple Watch that the unit needs to be refilled. Other good info also on app. Just be sure to set it up correctly when you start up.
Customer service has been awesome! They are still trying to help me but it’s almost two months since I upgraded my unit and I honestly did it because of the new features with the WiFi but unfortunately that has not been working out for me yet! I’ll write a different review after I this matter is solved, which I’m hoping soon.
Bought a new carbon filter because it was on 2%. I replaced it with a new one and it has been weeks now that I have been trying to get it to restart back to 100%. I hope this problem can get fixed asap! That was the reason why I purchased it so it can be accurate through the app.
Tried to open the app to check if I needed to change the filter, didn’t let me log in. I thought maybe just didn’t work on my side, so I uninstalled the app and tried again, couldn’t log in, or even reset the password. Completely useless. I would give negative stars if I can.
App is unstable using mesh network and customer service is unable to assist. Spent weeks troubleshooting and even received another unit. Contacted router manufacturer to assist and resolved. “Is my water safe” function does not work. There should be a more updated method for joining network or checking for update.
The app has been glitchy and not connecting for MONTHS. I’ve called customer service countless of times and they keep saying it’ll be updated in a few weeks. Then I call back and hear the same story. Won’t connect and my filters have all gone bad. Would give zero stars if I could!! Do better AquaTru! Switching to Berkey!!
App is total garbage and never works. Will just stop even trying to log in for no reason. Won’t even try to reset the password. App just stares at you and does nothing. Worthless. Used to be able to fix by deleting and redownloading the app. Even that no longer works.
I purchase my AguaTru without WiFi and I noticed That I filter my water first in ZERO WATER PICHER Which gives a TDS TESTER which 0 reading is very clean And pure then I put the water in the AguaTru to Remove any other impurity’s and TDS test the water Again and get 0 results which me and my family need I hope this helps because you need very clean now Because of the toxins we are faced with THANK YOU AguaTru what a Blessing 💧💧💧
This app connects a WIFI enabled AquaTru water purifier to your WIFI. The app is required to activate the AquaTru water quality sensors to display real time water quality. The AquaTru app displays the water quality in your tap water and the purified water by measuring total dissolved solids (TDS). The app dashboard displays your water consumption by days, weeks, month and years. It tracks and displays the money saved from using the Aquatru water purifier vs. the cost of buying bottled water.
