So I am enrolled in a college class to learn ASL and yes the app is useful it’s just very outdated it seems like they created the app and website at the same time just never updated the app it would be nice to have updated feature so it’s easier to navigate between the videos and assignments in the course. ASL defined is a really great way to learn sign language I’m having a really great time using this program for my classes! Just update the stupid app🤣🤌🏼
I am fairly new to signing in ASL, and this app is amazing. But I have a few pointers about the app itself. 1. I think you should add the function where you add submit new words for people to add to the ASL dictionary. 2. Whenever I use the app, ( I don’t know if it’s because of the version of my phone I am using) but whenever I get onto Fill in the vocabulary, there’s usually a few videos I cannot access, no matter how many times I press play. Also when I try to type the words down in the box underneath the video, it is a hassle. Basically I would have to continually press the box, to eventually be able to type down my answer. And that’s really bad if you’re under a time restraint. Because my school starts not very long after I do my ASL, so I have to finish up really quickly. I do love you guys app, just please add these modifications. 🙂
Great app, I took 3 years of ASL classes and although Im not currently taking one, I wanted to keep my skills and have a chance to learn more signs at my own pace. This is perfect for that. It has lots of “lessons” that are mostly a set of vocab, and then various activities to test weather you remember it. it has tons of lessons, and various sort features to help you find the lessons you are looking for. If I could ask for something more it would be a “test” feature that assess what lessons you should learn next based on what you dont know, and for an opinion to show the correct answer when you get something wrong in an activity. Also, you need to make an account on the web before using the app. It doesn’t ask anything too personal though, and its free. Overall a good resource (:
Learning sign language through ASLdeafined has been such an incredible experience. I can now practice my signing wherever I am, whenever I want to, without a computer! It has everything you need to get started and continue to grow and learn about sign language and the culture behind it! I am so happy that this app is now available and I can’t imagine anything better for people wanting to learn American sign language!
This app is not free. It is a subscription based app. You will never be able to learn ASL for free. There will always be a catch or secret subscription or necessary feature you have to pay for. You can learn every word in ASL and still not know two very important things: grammar and sentence structure. There are plenty of free ASL dictionaries that teach you nothing about grammar or sentence structure. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, because it’s not a dictionary’s job to teach you grammar. I AM saying I am giving up trying to find a free app that will teach me every aspect of ASL, and so should you.
LOVE THIS APP! I am an ASL interpreter. For the fun of it, I started the app at the beginning. I wanted to see what it would be like if a beginner used the app and if I would recommend it. I love it! I would have put 5 stars, except there is some problem that some videos won’t load. Other than that, I have no complaints. Thank you for putting together an app that does really teach ASL!
As a student, this app is amazing. It’s so helpful. I used to take an online class for ASL and it was horrible! The teachers weren’t helpful and the lessons were taught simply for the upcoming tests. This app/website makes learning ASL easy! You learn 20 words/numbers per lesson and are evaluated on recognizing the signs and describing the location and handshape. Highly recommend!
As a new learner of ASL, this app is INCREDIBLE! It is so so helpful in learning everything I’m trying to learn. I love the dictionary and all of the words available. The lessons teach you more than you’d believe. I would 100% recommend this app to beginning and experts!
This app is AMAZING!! It’s so convenient to easily look up a word you need to know, and the lessons are easily accessible! The app is very easy to navigate and runs quickly! This really helped me in my college ASL class!

When I downloaded the app I tried to make an account but it only let me log in instead of sign in. I even refreshed the app, deleted it and reinstalled it but it still wouldnt let me sign in. I cant even use the app. Developers, please fix this.

I used to use this app to look up signs all the time, but recently, it just decided to show me a black screen upon opening. Hope this can be fixed soon.
The only way to get a password and user name to use this app is to sign up for a subscription on their web site. Kind of annoying and misleading. It isn’t pricey but it’s certainly annoying. 😡😡😡
Can’t even get this app to open as it’s asking for a password I never set up. Can’t contact seller as it’s asking for a password I never set up. Keeps saying it’ll send me a reset but it doesn’t. Very frustrating.
I can’t get in. Downloaded and it wants email and password so I tried to set it up. Says it’s incorrect. I can’t contact app support or even unload it from this phone. Not happy!
Note: this is a PARTNER app. You must have an account made on their website (asldeafined.com) to use the app. With only the lack of ability to make a log in, the app has all the same features as the website. It has lessons and vocab, and functions the same. I certainly plan to continue using the app after my class has ended.
