Facts, Not Fear

Update today, March 12th, 2020: I depend on 11-Alive for current, valid, relevant information on COVID-19. I learned tonight about what’s called “flattening the curve,” from reporter Kaitlyn Ross. Reporter Kaitlyn Ross explained that “social distancing” allows us to help defeat COVID-19, by denying the virus the ability to easily spread, by reducing our social, in-person contact with each other. In times such as these, 11-Alive helps put my mind, at ease! I posted the Review, below, a long time ago: Live Life with 11-Alive: I can honestly say that checking-in with 11- Alive News, whether by using my App here on my phone, or watching tv, curled up at home, is part of how I “live life.” The news that 11-Alive shares with me contains (of course!) the top stories of the day, but this station also gives me something that I don’t see, anywhere else: stories that remind me that living life means learning about those who make a difference in our communities. From the feel-good stories early morning with Chesley and crew, to the evening updates on families in need or homeless dogs, (Kaitlyn Ross is my “go-to” reporter!), 11-Alive definitely leads with intelligence and compassion. Keep doing what y’all do; you’re helping us all, to do better!

The perfect balance

11Alive has a way of balancing the news that presents the fun news with the news you need to know. I rarely miss Morning Rush because it feels like family. The personalities gel well even though each anchor person has their own perspective. I feel like the in studio team works well with the on location team. I truly miss some of the people that aren’t there when I started watching in 2008, but 11alive always knows how to weave new personnel in seamlessly. Great job!!! Delivering news couldn’t be easy,,, but somehow they may it appear that way.

Needs improvement

Adds popping up and literally preventing the article being read seems counterintuitive. Takes away from the reading experience. There is also no way to share an article with a friend which is surprising. The app is also crashing a lot. Can’t be browsing on it for more than 5 minutes it seems before it crashes and 2 of those minutes are adds! This is at 11 alive news itself. I just want to say what a terrible job has been done with the Governors race. The most recent notification I have right now is (Abrams pulls 8,245 votes in just one week!) Never was there an optimistic headline for kemp. This type of bias is what covered the whole election. I have no idea what the kemp campaign did because you only covered Abrams and her “Positive” attitude!

Great app but has a major bug.

It says to leave feedback in the app settings but there is no place to do that so maybe they will read this. This is the best news app but there is a bug that started when they redesigned sever updates ago. When I look at the list of notifications and find an article I want to read a lot of times it will bring up a totally different article. It doesn’t happen on the latest 3-4 notifications but ones a little earlier. I also have the same problem within the app after I click on the bell to see the notifications list. Also it’s so annoying to start reading the article and then and as pops up me after Xing out it returns to the top of the article.

Completely ruined the app

They have completely ruined the App with the recent changes. I hate the new pictures, time to load anything, trying to find anything now. It is the worst changes ever made to an app. They need to change the layout back to everything loading right away on the first page. Now I have to wait for things to load and then search for everything. They ruined the weather portion and the radar too. Doesn’t load right or takes forever to actually open. You can’t always close the ads to read the stories. Don’t know what happened to the traffic. They are trying to get you to spend more time on the app, and it is making me not want to use it all. So backfire. I will be looking for a new news app. Hate everything about this new app. Absolutely the worst app ever!!!!!!

Constantly crashes. Has ads that cover the article

I have reinstalled this app multiple times. It gets to where an ad for some Bomber podcast comes up and blocks the screen and you can’t clear it off. Nothing works. Useless. Was great before they covered it with ads and made it not work. Fix it. Update- I’ve tried and tried to get this to work. Nothing helps. I get updates on stories and then try to view them and nothing happens. I load the app on its own and it crashes. It used to be awesome but something is way wrong with it now.

Facts Not Fear On COVID-19

11 Alive has been my Only News Station & will continue to be my Only News Media forever More! I love the real time interaction with the Public & that you live the example for all Georgian’s, Not just Preach it. You do not talk at as Us, but Rather with Us & for that I’m grateful! 'Up Late' was a brilliant idea for a News Format, No other News Media does this, it’s still the same old status quo. Keep Up the Amazing Work!! Facts Not Fear does lessen Anxiety, I know well because I’m totally Alone without help or transportation & It calms me without bombarding me with severe Fear propaganda. Straight Up Facts, COVID19 is No Joke!! The app is AMAZING!! It is how I get the all the updates on anything! I love love the COVID19 notifications & Severe Weather Alerts to my phone! Used to be a good source for news

The format has changed for the worse. Many of the notifications don’t inform, just give silly leads to entice you to open the app, where you get slammed with multiple ads for apps. Try to scroll thru the story and the page jumps and you find you’ve just clicked on another ad. Too much advertising between paragraphs of the article. This used to be my main source for news on my cell phone.

Balanced and informative

I basically only Watch 11 for local news. I find that the broadcasts - morning, noon, and evening- are not full of hype and hysteria nor full of fluff. The tone is serious and helpful, some humor in the mornings which I love. I also find the information presented is balanced and the intent is not to alarm. I appreciate that. And, so I downloaded the app which I now depend on. Thank you.

Terrible app!

This is the worst performing apps on both my iPhone and iPad. I will get an alert about a story which I would be interested in reading and click the link. It takes FOREVER to load. Once it finally loads, it makes me click once or twice again to get to whatever meager content there is they alerted me to in the first place. Constant pop up ads. Even if you close them, a blank box will remain where the ad would have displayed. It continues overlaps the text of the article you want to read. Sometimes the audio of a video will start to play but the video itself is nowhere to be found. Just awful!

Terrible

I watch WXIA every day. Their website is not updated on a regular basis, so I just don't check it out. I also am not fond of the changes they made with the on air broadcast teams. All the familiar faces are gone with just a few exceptions. I don't like the early morning format - if Chesley and Crash weren't on at that time, I don't think I'd watch it.

So much promise, so poor delivery

Having an app to alert me to local news is great, but the delivery of said news is awful. Video plays automatically and difficult to stop it, really inconvenient when in a place where noise is an issue. Screens don’t load correctly with ads often obscuring what you are trying to read. You have to go to several different sites within the app to get what you’re looking for. Sometimes clicking on a news alert takes you to an entirely different article. Please redesign this with experts in web design!!!

Fun hunting for grammar errors

...and there are plenty. My favorite headline today is, “Two Brothers Faces Carges…..” Nobody there thought to read this and I edit the word to “Face”. You will be amazed at all the basic grammar mistakes. It's a good teaching instrument for grade school children to learn proofreading. Unfortunately articles will auto play attached video clips with audio, even if your phone is muted. Not good if you're trying to not disturb those around you. You will get tired of hearing how they're "Holding the Powerful Accountable." It's ironic since they obviously don't even read an article before posting it!

Loaded with ad pop ups and now opens the App Store every couple of seconds

The worst of all is that every couple of seconds the app now launches the App Store for a piece of junk app no one will ever want. Which app it brings up seems random. The app is now showing ads you have to swipe to remove immediately upon launching the app. They also appear at random times. The news articles it has often now have links to read it. This is not a news app, it’s an ad app. Time to uninstall and look for something else. Yet they advertise on tv that they listen and give us the local news we want. I’m calling BS on that.

Too many notifications that aren't news, let alone news worthy of a notification... they've now started sending what are essentially commercials for their new 11pm reformatted newscast as notifications. When in the app there are a lot of ads that pop up. And if you click on most story links you're taken to another page where you have to click again to actually get to the story. With all these things, I don't end up using app much unless I have time to waste or am looking for a specific story.

Ads?

What’s the deal with all these ads popping up? I can’t even read the news for the ads blocking them. There is no way to get rid of them. 11 Alive used to be my most watched local news station. No more. It’s impossible to read the articles and watch the videos.

Ads so large you can’t even see the article

Look, I get it...ads are the only way to make money off of a free app. But each time you open an article, it takes forever to load, and about 15 seconds later an ad the size of the whole screen covers the article and you have to scroll all the way up to exit. Many times the whole app freezes and the article disappears. Why can’t you just have the ads at the bottom like everyone else? If you’re looking for local Atlanta news, get the WSB app. Same news, just no impossible ad system. Please fix!

Could be better.

I use this everyday to be informed. I wish they would fix the issue with when I open the app and go to watch something there is no sound I have to press the play button and then an ad comes on. Every single time it is extremely annoying. And then I can scroll down to look as another video and the previous videos will start playing as I am watching.

Duplicate images and new format

Liked this site much better before. New white background format or template doesn’t enhance readability. Also, if there aren’t enough stories, there are multiple duplicate stories on local and top stories. Oftentimes, the wrong picture is with a story or the exact same story is posted 3 times at the bottom of the page. Disappointed!

Grammar

I’ve made 11Alive my place for morning news and weather for its professionalism, attitude and neat choreography when not in Covid Mode 😁. And nothing personal, but when I hear a reporter read the phrase “in connection to” My head spins a little 🤪. Doing a bit of Google research, I have yet to find a conclusion other than “in connection with” being the correct way to say that phrase.

Big Step Backwards

The new app is an improvement visually, but in terms of functionality and performance, it’s a mess. It seems more thought was paid to design rather than usage. Takes too much scrolling to find stories compared to previous version. Near impossible to get to previous location in app without having to start over. Developers thought they had created an intuitive design, but they failed. Previous version, despite its lack of visual “pizzazz”, was far more user friendly.

Review

Great content. However I woke up at 8am and there was no 11Alive as a live stream. That was disappointing. I happen to be in an area, that the only channel I get is ION or the home shopping network. I look forward to your broadcast daily. Maybe... network error. Could you look into fixing that, please

11 Alive is my all time news station!!!! I love the morning, afternoon and evening crew ! I am elate that there is more than one television in my house because my husband watches the other stations! MYSELF , 11 Alive is my station and wherever I am in the house you guys are on!

My thought

Great app. Overall, it is a good app. But like everything else, there are areas that could be better designed for mobile information. But thank you for the update and for the weather alerts that I am able to get

Tornado warning

It seems like the station could forgo the advertising when people are following up on a tornado warning. By the time you get through the ads, you would be dead from the tornado.

Don’t get this app!

This is the most outrageous, horrible app I’ve ever had the misfortune to get. It is nothing but clickbait and obtrusive ads. It is impossible to go straight to a story without clicking through 2-3 links, and the ads won’t go away—they will often spontaneously begin replaying even as you’re reading or listening to a story. Any of the local TV apps are better (although each also has its annoying proclivities). I give it 1 star only because the negative star number line is disallowed.

Can’t even read news!

11Alive used to be my go-to for news but not anymore! You can’t even read the news on their app!! Whenever I get a notification and I want to read it, I am bombarded with ads! When I exit the ads, then the article won’t even load anymore! Half the time, the notification topic I click doesn’t even bring me to the correct article! This has gotten beyond frustrating and just flat out annoying. I’m switching to use the WSB app. This app is a joke.

Needs work

I use this to watch the news in the morning. The app crashes, plays ads during the broadcast, and will play them repeatedly until it finally gives up and crashes. I have the option to close out the ad, but it will continue to pop up and play with no sound.

Accuracy

This is my go to accurate newscast. It entertaining its educational and it deliver inspiring news stories. All four of them are outstanding anchors especially Mr McNeil and Fransika sorry if I spelled your name wrong. Keep up the good work I love it! 11alive news!

Shameful Countdown Banner

Love 11 Alive BUT I won’t be watching consistently for the next 38 days only to see the HUGE Paris Olympics Banner distracting from the information needed for my everyday life. CNN made this their shameless practice a regular habit. I stopped watching their station altogether and don’t miss it at all. Do we really need a 38 day countdown? I certainly don’t. Once the banner pops up I change the channel.

Great info

I use this app quite a bit as I travel around quite a bit , I can keep up with all local news when I am on the road and I’m actually alerted to certain events going on happening by the app… Works great for me!

Wrong Stories ... Bad Interface

I see several notifications of stories I would like to read more about however when I swipe to view it often takes me to a different story or the story is hanging off the iPad "page". I can't read the story. If I try to go to the home page and click the story manually, it again takes me to a different story or the whole app completely crashes.

Too many ads

It seems that there is an ad showing after every couple of sentences in the news story. At times the story you’re looking for (that you specifically clicked on the notification for) can’t be found. I thought the app used to be better than that. I love 11Alive and watch NBC more than any other network but this app is not up to par at all with the other ways I enjoy this network.

I have watched 11 Alive since I was a little girl. I’m 65 now and continue to watch its trusted news daily. I love their fact check segment as well as news. Having this app means I don’t have to miss any news. Love it❤️

Comprehensive

I love the vast coverage they have from people issues to road blocks. I would like to see better coverage on motor vehicle accidents. I feel some aboveboard are very vague on the app without pictures or coverage.

Good info, but not so hot delvery...

Nothing more frustrating than being alertdbto a news story, only to be sidetracked by several ads before, during & after you finally get to the story. I know you need advertising, but give us break! At the very least, knock off the 6 ads inthe middle of the story...😡
