I always listen to a fan or something and I would sleep better, but the “Deep Brown Noise” has elevated the quality of my sleep in a very noticeable way. I fall asleep faster. I sleep more soundly - hardly moving. My dreams are deeper and I feel like I’m remembering them more often, and I’m dreaming every night. I am telling everyone I know about “deep brown noise” - to me, it is like falling asleep next to a powerful rushing river.
Tried this app out tonight, and instead of helping my insomnia, it caused it. I woke up at 1am because the sound turned off. My groggy brain turned it back on and I fell back asleep. Woke up again at 3am because the sound turned off. Apparently, there’s an automatic two hour timer that you can’t turn off unless you pay. Sneaky. Other subscription noise apps at least tell you there’s a time limit. Not this one - and I downloaded it because it didn’t appear to have a timer. So here I am, 4:30am, still awake, on the couch so I don’t wake up my husband, and will probably still be awake when his alarm goes off at 6. Do yourself a favor and scroll down in the App Store. There’s plenty of truely free brown noise apps. Maybe I’ll sleep better tomorrow night with one of those.
The updated version of this app has a new, clean look. It has just the right number of ambient sounds, unlike most other apps which are crammed with various sounds which are superfluous and simply included to bloat the number. I have no use for those sounds. I am very happy with this version of “Brown Noise” app.
Are absolutely free. This is an amazing little free app that doesn’t cost a thing and has helped me get the best sleep I have gotten in years. Decades even! Nothing fancy, just 5 different noises to kill you to rest. I love the Green noise and when I hear it, it’s lights out. Thank you for making such a great app and making it free!
I love the brown sound of this app! However, it will not play all night long. When it shuts off, I am wide awake instantly. It would be so nice if it was an app that played until the user was ready to turn it off. Again, I love the brown sound!!!
I downloaded the app and decided to do the three-day free trial of premium. I realized that there are only half a dozen sounds and they can’t be layered like other apps. And now I am trying to cancel the free trial so I won’t be charged and there is NOTHING on the app that lets me do that. No account setting. The Terms of Use indicates that this is through iTunes but there’s nothing in that app either. So I am actually considering disabling my ApplePay to prevent this charge from going through. This is really annoying.
I love this app and I tried a few BUT why does it automatically pop on when im in my car or by a Bluetooth speaker??? Can’t find anything as to how to change.
This is a great app when it works. Some nights it works but most of the time it doesn’t. When I push play and lay my phone down on the charger, it goes to sleep when the Lock Screen comes on. I would give this app 5 stars, but there is a bug or a setting not adjusted right in my phone. Any thoughts?
one week after i bought this app—which was actually helping me sleep—they introduced a “premium” mode which did not add ANY features at all but instead REMOVED all basic features except one sound which can now only be played for up to one hour. so suddenly this app which was great is… worthless. i’m un-downloading it as soon as I finish this review. if you want more money, add ads or upgrades. don’t get rid of the basic purpose of your app.
Extremely difficult to change the brown noise frequency buttons
Why!?!?!? They’re buttons . I shouldn’t have to keep pressing, pushing, sliding my finger back and forth over the darn frequency change buttons to try the different frequencies, or to set it back to the original. What’s the secret to getting the stupid buttons to work? How about fixing it? It’s like the button hotspots are the size of a pinhead!
All of these sleeping apps say it’s free to download at this point they should probably start putting prices on these apps. This app is free for a little bit and I woke up today and apparently it’s no longer for you need to buy a premium subscription. I don’t think I should pass subscription to use a sound noise to sleep that’s ridiculous and I’m very disappointed that this app switched to a premium subscription kind of thing.
The app is fine. It does a good job. But I can’t access many features without a subscription. I find it ridiculous to need a subscription rather than a one-time buyout for an app that shouldn’t need heavy updates and tweaks. Subscriptions for everything nowadays are killing me.
Keeps asking me to review every time I open the app
Just downloaded (and PAID) for an annual subscription and every time I open the app is asked me to rate it (kind of). The option are to love it or “not now”. There is no option to dismiss or give a different rating. Feels like a scam to improve ratings — I might love it (have not used it enough) but this rating scammy pop-up is annoying me so much I may just ditch the app and ask for a refund.
This brown noise is awesome and soothing. But other noise apps that I have used also have a clock feature that turn my screen into a big digital clock face. Could be a REALLY great addition to this app.

The brown noise was great… until it suddenly stopped after an hour and I was bombarded by ads to “try premium” for what had previously been free. Now it’s no longer helping with my sleep, but waking me up every few hours to reset it. If you must gain revenue, put ads before you turn the noise on and then let it run all night like it used to. I’m actively searching for an alternative.
It’s the best sleep app out there. Not only do you have a choice between different sleep noises (brown, green, pink, white, etc) - there’s a time limit and it’s free!! Thank you from someone who needs this to fall asleep 💙
It was good for a few days but it’s starting to every time I go to sleep and turn it off it stays on but now it just turns off I don’t know if it’s just me or if it does it to everyone I hope it’s just a big because I can’t sleep without noise
After much lost sleep this app was recommended to me. I especially love this for when I travel. It calms my busy mind so that I can get a good night sleep.
Brown noise good, restart my phone often not so good
I love this app for one reason. The brown noise is deep enough. What I don’t like is about once a week as soon as my phone goes to sleep mode (screen lock) the app stops. You have to turn your phone off and on again.
Desperately needed comfortable sleep in an unfamiliar setting after a terrible day of travel. I quickly fell asleep but it doesn’t tell you there’s a timer. I woke up as soon as it turned off (twice) and my sleepy brain had to find another app in the middle of the night. At least tell users it doesn’t stay on!! Ridiculous.
This app used to be 5 stars. Now they want money for everything. Pay for a timer? That used to be free. Worse than that, without a timer it now overrides my alarm and my alarm doesn’t go off. It used to auto turn off to my alarm. Awful awful update. so disappointed. They wanted a money grab but instead will lose users. Going elsewhere.
Many of the reviews on this app say free but when in the app it prompts purchase. Which for a good app is worth it. But when you try to subscribe. Nothing. No pricing. No details on trail or premium and button doesn’t work. Support link takes you to terms and conditions. Currently app is only good to listen to brown noise for 1H or less. Bummed to see a simple app not be straightforward.
Used this every night. Don’t mind paying the subscription but now the sound won’t play when I lock my phone no matter what I try. I’m not trying to leave my phone on the whole night so please try and fix!
I tried the app for free and loved the brown noise but it cuts off in the middle of the night so I purchased the app thinking that would solve the problem. Nope! Every few days it will shut off in the night until you press subscribed. Very frustrating. If I had known it was going to do that I never would have purchased it.
This app is very buggy which is precisely what it shouldn’t be considering it is used for sleep. I purchased the premium version and it continues to be glitchy and often does not recognize that I have purchased the premium version and features. Very frustrating and disappointing. Maybe updates will help.
I was a little concerned brown noise would be like the “brown note” but no it’s safe. All kidding aside somehow it is perfect sleep sound. I really feel it helps me fall asleep faster

Heard about brown noise on TikTok. I’m always the skeptic. Literally. I figured I’d give the Brown Noise App a shot. Why not? What could it hurt? I’m blown away. I really like it and it helps me fall into a deep sleep.
I really liked this app and it helped me sleep so much better. I used it for free and set a one hour timer. Recently they changed it so you have to pay for premium to set a timer higher than 20 minutes. I mean really? That much of a cash grab? Undownloaded and will be buying another brown noise app that lets me use a timer for free.
I do enjoy using green noise. It keeps out side noises quiet and calms my mind so I can sleep, but this app stops running when my phone goes to sleep. Can you override that? I have lifted all background app restrictions n my iPhone 13. Thanks.
Why does it always just stop playing only after like 30 minutes? I don’t set a timer (cuz I’m definitely not to pay money for that) so technically it shouldn’t stop playing
First of all it gets the job done for studying. I only used this for drawing and studying and its good. BUT every time I switch the sound it makes me rate the app and the makes me pay. The two hour timer never bothered me but may bother others. It’s so annoying that it nonstop bombards me with screens making me pay.
Really really good fantastic like the noise annoys good helps me sleep. I think I would recommend it. Everyone should have this nice good good good OK great.
Though the sound isn’t in a timer, the sound isn’t constant. It has glitches every 20 seconds to a few minutes, which is annoying and worse than no sounds at all. Deleting this app and going back to my old app.
App only functions for a limited time, and I awaken every time the sound stops multiple times per night, which totally defeats it’s intended purpose. No shortage of pop up ads that want you to pay for premium services, whatever that may be.
From time to time there’s a random looping noise in the background which can be really distracting when trying to fall asleep. Hopefully this gets fixed
You keep shutting down my service trying to upsell me on premium service I’ve already paid for. If it happens again I’ll delete the app and cancel subscription.
Every time after I close the app, it will start up again when I connect to a Bluetooth speaker. It drives me crazy in the car. Every time I start stop the car I have to listen to the Brown Noise until I pull over and stop it again.
