Gainsville, Thank you Chris and his team for this app!
Absolutely love this app, I used to track all my workouts and progress on paper, god forbid I forgot a writing utensil or my dog ate my logs. I started using this app in January when a workout buddy suggested it. Prior to that I was just getting back into the rhyme of going again after starting back up mid October with my same boring workouts, dragging myself to the gym. Once I started using this app and getting used to it I started looking forward to hitting the gym again after work and falling back in love with this hobby of mine. Best part is I don’t even have to think about my workouts, I just open the app and go to the next workout. Mid October I was touching 260lbs, now I’m around 233lbs at 5’9”… absolutely love love love this app! Only suggestion is maybe adding a section for whatever seat setting you prefer, which I can easily do in the note section so not having that option doesn’t bother me at all. Actually my only real complaint is I wish I could have started using this app 13 years ago when I was active duty in the Marines!

Room for improvement
First off, I’d like to say I’m a big fan of Cbum, hence why I got this app! (Congrats on being 4x MrOlympia) Unfortunately, I don’t feel that it’s reached it’s full potential and has a lot of room for improvement, even after the recent update. It does have some good basic features, the routines are good, but comparing it to others on the market, it falls a short. One big area is the macro/ food aspect. It would elevate the app if you had the feature where you could track your food within or tie it with MyFitnessPal, etc. My second suggestion would be more thorough explanations of how to perform the workout, rather that a 3-5 second clip with no audio. My experience with the developers when reaching out is that they have taken several days to reply, which I would expect a quicker response, or at least a confirmation that they’ve received my request and are working on it, given this is a paid for service. Speaking of developers, there are some bugs in this app still, such as when checking out the macro portion of it, it prompts me to sign up… though I’m already signed in with my paid for account. Another thing I have found is when I’m in the middle of my workout, it calls for rest-pause sets in the beginning, but then defines drop sets. There are no drop sets in that specific exercise. I really want to like this app, but I am going to have to cancel my subscription and revisit it down the road as I don’t see the juice is worth the squeeze on this one

Good app and programs, terrible execution.
I’ve been using the CBUM app for a year now, and already wasn’t a huge fan of the apps performance. At least once a workout the app would crash, and I would have to resume the workout. But at the very least it saved my progress (sets, reps, load). Since it updated to STNDRD, I have consistently had worse performance than ever before with CBUM. The timer does not run if you are not in the app. If it crashes (once again once a workout), it does not save your progress and you have to scroll through every exercise that you’ve already completed to pick back up where you left off. Furthermore, as soon as I finish my workout, it wipes all the information from my entire lift. Does not save sets, reps, weight, anything. The programs and individual workouts are decent quality, with workouts and programs built in with phases as well as beginner intermediate and advanced designations. But if you’re looking for something to replace your lift journal or your rest timer, this isn’t it. Fix the timer and the progress and it’s an easy 5 stars, but as it stands, for what I need the app for, it falls terribly short. For $120 a year (1/3 the cost of a year’s membership to my gym) you’d expect something a bit more polished. I feel bad paying $50.

Fitness Pal and body space combined, but better!
This app is so revolutionary and so effective for those that crave a routine and structure on their strength training journey! It combines the calorie tracking of MyFitnessPal with the extensive library of Bodyspace and other exercise apps. Hundred of workouts at your fingertips, plus Chris demonstrates how to perform them. Plus, if you don’t have the equipment for an exercise in the plan, or if the machines are full, there is a replace option to replace that workout with something else that you may have available. Such a great interface! Love it for the price point! The only negative I’ve experienced so far are that some videos are spotty with loading, it that could be the user WiFi I have. It would also be nice to preview the workouts and videos before starting the exercise for those that don’t know every workout on here. This would also help when replacing workout, to be able to access the tutorial before selecting a replacement. It did not allow me that capability when I tried.

New update is good
I’m a big fan of the new update, I know there have been some complaints but I think it’s way better now. I always loved the layout of the nutrition and calorie tracking section on the old app but the database was not built up at all. With the update I haven’t had any issues logging food, everything I scan is already in the database so it’s super easy to track calories. I’m also a big fan of the layout of the workout plans, I workout Monday through Saturday so the old layout made it difficult where it was always just three workout days and then a rest day. It never lined up with my schedule. But now I’m able to line it up with my schedule. There are obviously a few little things that will need to be worked on but that’s expected with any new update this big, I stopped using the old app for awhile and this update made me start using it again.

Great but not
The fact there are a good deal of workouts is great but overall awful app and implementation. I want to workout Monday thru Saturday with a mid day rest. But I don’t get to customize me workout schedule. I don’t get to see my progress I don’t get to make changes Positives: Great number of workouts Helpful meal checker Cool feature about community Cool to adjust to what you want (casual vs more intense) Does allow you to find specific region and see all exercises Negatives: No way to see your tracked workouts (reps, sets) No way to adjust the days you workout it’s whatever the apps decides (honesty how did we not think to make this a feature??????) ^ I should mention you do get the ability to use ‘past days’ workouts but again how did we not think of letting people choose what they want to work out when. Can’t make changes to my workout if I want to do something else (yes I know I got the app for someone else to tell me what to work but still) The fact I have to pay before I even got to see how the app works. <- BIGGEST RED FLAG AND BIGGEST ISSUE. I wouldn’t have subscribed if I had a chance to see what the app had.

Massive Downgrade
The app just randomly changed one night, changed name, changed look, changed into an absolute travesty. While the old version (Bum) certainly wasn’t a perfect app, the workouts were fantastic. Nothing else was all that great, but who cares? I used the app for the workouts, I didn’t need it for anything else. Now it feels like it’s abandoned its soul and purpose for low quality showmanship. It is nothing more than lipstick on a pig. The great workouts have disappeared for a confusing and inscrutable mess of workouts with absolutely no explanation. Why is it having me do a tri set with back to back skull crushers? It’s completely asinine. How do I record a workout? Is it this button or that? It just feels like ten people were in a room all shouting out ideas and no one denied a single one. It’s made this into an absolute mess. While this used to be an inspiration, making bodybuilding fun, now it has sucked everything out of the experience. It’s an impenetrable mess. There was no warning this terrible downgrade would be coming. No word about how to use the new changes. Stay away from this app. Find something better. I’m going to try. It’s not going to be difficult.

Disappointed
TOO MUCH interaction. I don’t like I have to input the weight, then log the exercise then click next to start the rest and have to do it all over again for the next set. Main clock doesn’t work when you’re not on the main screen where you watch the workout. Biggest issue with this new app is I can’t exit the app if I want the rest time to keep counting down. This is eating up my phone battery so much more. The rest times are WAYYY too long. Reps are too high. There just doesn’t seem to be any balance with the amount of workouts (reps and sets) and rest times. No decimal points for the weights. My gym uses 42.5 lbs and numerous other numbers. The tempo is a nice touch but useless to me. I know breathing is important but I like to do my own breathing. No ab workouts. Why? I like the instruction videos, they make things super clear and understandable. I miss the warm up sets, working sets and whatever else. I don’t like there are no days set for each workout, may not be a big deal for others but it helps me stay on a schedule. Now it messes up my week scheduling wise.

Great way to have Structured workouts
I’m not that far in my weight loss/ bodybuilding journey however I’ve always struggled having a structured routine, I always tend to switch up specific workouts if I don’t see progress. The app has helped me finally getting back on track and have definitely improved in almost all aspects of my strength and building more definition as of the time I’ve signed up for the program. Thank you CBum for giving not only me but multiple people a way to get on track on their own journey in the gym!!

I’m still feeling it out.
I like it, it’s pretty straight forward but I think it needs work. Not being able to use an app (that you pay for) because it needing internet/signal. Not cool. I go to random countries outside the US and sometimes I don’t have signal. It was a chore to try and get the workouts to come up when I was on a cruise, I had to dig into my internet minutes to screen shot the workouts and then turn off. Please update that, that would be helpful. It would also be helpful to have alternatives to certain workouts, even if you just caption it, in the notes. Sometimes you do but not a lot and not every gym is going to have the exact equipment that is shown in the performances done by CB. I think you could really expand on the app but the workouts are pretty solid though. I do have to get creative when I don’t exactly have the same equipment which is fine by me but for other people, I think it would help.

New Version has a great potential but definitely needs work
I really enjoyed the previous app; it felt smooth and easy to use. However, this new version feels like I have to be constantly on my phone for it to work properly. For example, the old version of BUM would automatically start the timer as soon as you finished your set, whereas this one requires you to manually start it every time. Additionally, if you leave the app, the counter doesn’t continue running, so you have to keep your phone open on the app for the entire workout if you want it to track your rest periods correctly. I also don’t see the need to input the tempo every time, especially if you’re suggesting a specific tempo to follow. I’ve also experienced crashes where the app lost all of my inputs for a workout, making it not worth the effort to re-enter them. Lastly, it would be great if you could add a 3-day option for the push/pull/legs program, instead of only offering 4-6 days.

This app wishes it set the Stndrd
Mind you this is a $15/month subscription. I’ve completed 500+ workouts on the old cbum fitness apps. All my data history of notes and rep ranges in the app is gone. I couldn’t even manually archive anything the day before. Now, I cannot record my weight and rep range in a quad set without the app resetting every exercise to the most recent input. Why are we even doing quad sets?? I’m not trying to look like the gym clown hoarding half the equipment. We don’t need to label quad workouts as ‘lower anterior’ day, as if we’re getting a PhD in gym machine hoarding. To make things worse, there are so many tiny buttons you HAVE to click through to see what tri or quad set you’re doing next in the gym to make you look stupid or lost as an experienced gym bro. This is marketed to be the programming cbum uses, but the Road to Olympia program has heavy barbell back squats and if you know Chris, you’d know he would never do this in prep. Not to mention all programs are much shorter than the old update and feel unfinished.

Great app
Love this app but most importantly great great workout. I used different app before this but i wasn't happy with it so i decided to try this one. It sure makes you sweat. Only suggestion I have is to have more options for alternative exercises which would be helpful for those that have limited equipment. But other then that I love it. It logs weight you lift so you can profess. It has videos and description to guide you how to do certain exercise with proper form and which muscle group is targeted. It has resources for health tips as well as food log where you can scan barcodes and calculate your calories. Based on your weight will give you your macros. Will update my progress. My only complain is there is only one alternative exercise which is hard when you have limited equipment. Thank you.

Used to be good . Update not as much
I’m doing like 100 reps of the same exercise. 10 reps 10 sets which is kind of ridiculous.. the old workout would have 4-6 sets each. This update has a lot of numbers and lowkey overwhelming.. the old version was simple, easy and user friendly. I think I’d rather pay more for the older version actually. They tried to update and scale at too big of a pace and actually over did it because there’s no explanation to how to use the apps and wayy to many numbers.. I just want a simplified workout and the app makes it really hard because the numbers are so small. I don’t even record my numbers anymore because over complicated

The Update that Ruined Everything
The app requires or at least implies that you have to log everything. You can’t leave the app running in the background or else it will act like your resting and workout timers haven’t moved. Workout splits are more restricted when we used to have options like shoulder & arm, chest & back, and leg day, and it requests that you do push/pull, bro split, or straight up Olympia training. It also only wants you to hit 1 leg day weekly, so if you’re trying to focus lower body and your gym bro already hates doing legs, good luck. Rather than prioritizing getting you straight into a workout, it immediately tries to get you to weigh yourself in and track calories. Was a really big fan of the CBUM app itself, but this partnership is straight dookie and feels like it’s gone completely backwards.

Upgrade is confusing
The previous app was pretty straightforward and easy to use. I’ve used the updated version since launch and these are my biggest concerns: 1) Tracking progress during a workout is confusing: It took me a while to figure out how to log each set and start the rest timer. Additionally, there are times that even after hitting next the progress wouldn’t save so I had to re add it. 2) Rest timer doesn’t notify you anymore: The old app would send you a notification to let you know that time is up. This new app requires you to leave the app open or you wont get notified. 3) Push, Pull, Legs workout is the same and boring: I’m only on week 2 of the push, pull, legs program and so far I’ve noticed that all the workouts are the same. I used to like the variety the old app would give since it would make it more challenging and fun, but now is the same routine which begs the question if an app that’s $15+ per month is needed. Yes, you still have the option to choose your own workouts but what’s the point.. By any means am I trashing this app, I just hope the feedback is heard and changes are made.

Time management
C-Bum Thank you for this. I am an operator in south west Louisiana. I have a family and this will help me out a lot. I am starting a new job in the near future and relief time is 4:30am so it a little difficult for me to complete my workout and still get time with my family. It might be crazy but I wake up at 1:00am when I work days right now to workout and my relief time is 5:00am. I was really worried about this but now with this app my time management is way better and I am knocking 30 mins of my workouts.

Bait & Switch to this confusing, poorly designed app
I was a daily user of the CBUM workout app prior to the sudden change to the STNDRD app, which happened with no notice or announcement. This new app interface is a massive downgrade from its predecessor’s usability; it’s confusing and disorganized and is not at all intuitive. CBUM’s App was a little buggy, but was slick, minimalist, and user friendly. Additionally, my history and progress is wiped, and the workouts I loved have been replaced with workouts that seem clunky and poorly thought-out. Huge disappointment. I reached out to STNDRD to request a refund (as I recently paid for an annual subscription to the CBUM app, which was ‘transferred’ to this new app), and they informed me that they were unable to do so. This is not the app that I paid for.

Update Stndrd is clunky
As a iOS app developer and avid user of the app when it was branded as cbum, I was disappointed in the update to Stndrd. The new version of Stndrd is clunky and not intuitive to use. There isn’t warm ups included in the sets anymore, no more ability to add additional sets. Also knowing the workout of the day isn’t straightforward. Working out in a commercial gym has a need for me to skip between certain workouts due to gym layout and equipment availability and the app doesn’t handle that very well at all. The apps rest timer also stops counting down if you switch out of the app. Truly a disappointment as I’m a big fan of the workout programs provided.

Eh
Great app, I’ve gained a lot of progress ever since setting my goals towards a bodybuilding approach. But there are some bugs present within the app. A really noticeable one that gets under my skin is one that concerns the timer. Whenever I finish a set, I start the timer, and I lock my phone. Timer finishes, I do my set, I enter to app to log the weight I completed, start the timer, and it INSTANTLY concludes that I finish that set, so I’m just left wondering when my next set will start if I’m not paying attention and the timer glitches out. Other than that, like I said, great app!

Testing it out
Initial experience: The UI has a bit of a cumbersome learning curve and some glitches. For example, it will delete your weight amount if you enter the weight into the set then minimize that tab and come back. Sometimes I would click through sets in the minimized timer and get through 4-5 before realizing it was not updating the progress in the background workout main page. Also, it has access to my health data but none of the information from my Apple Watch gets imported; steps, cal, activity, etc. I paid for the year so I’ll update accordingly.

I’ve bought a couple programs in the last couple months only to realize that none of them reall offered anything of substance as far as a workout program. I’ve only don’t this program for a couple days now and I’m finally sweating again! I go in knowing exactly what exercises I’m doing and I feel like I’ve finally found one that works! Thanks CBum!

Good, but..
The workouts and variations of them are great. However it falls short compared to other apps that show more specifics, such as tracking and even suggested lifting amounts. It would be more helpful if the app were programmed to be smarter at the option to replace workouts, as it blindly suggests anything regardless of the lift. It really could be an awesome program with just a few minor tweaks, and really make you feel like it’s worth paying for. Also..can we get the rest timer moved to the top of the screen with the total time so we can always see it, regardless of which lift we have pulled up

Missing customization and other features
I like the workouts, however, the app hasn’t seen a significant update in more than 6 months. There’s a lot of workout apps out there that are implementing great features that I wish were available here. More frequent updates. Marketing for the app says workouts posted daily, exclusive content, etc.. but there’s been no updates for months. Ability to plan your workout week. Days you want to workout, how many days a week, what workouts on which days. Backlog of completed workouts to go back and see progress or repeat a workout from a days or weeks before. App optimization. The app can be slow at times to load between different views. Ability to sub workouts for another that will work the same muscle groups. These are just a few things. I hope the develops/Bum team are working on this. As there’s a lot of potential here.

Smooth, amazing functionality app
Gotta say, this has got to be one of the best workout apps I’ve used. Built in timer, videos showing you want you should be doing for the workouts, and the splits by CBum are great! Only things I wish it had were the ability to download the workouts for offline use in gyms with no WIFI or poor data, and a little more in-depth info on describing the workouts for what you should be feeling and what weights are recommended for different levels. Great app!

New update is rough.
New update wiped away all log history for nutrition and workouts with only about a very short warning heads up via email right before the update. The new update is drowning in bells and whistles that no one asked for. Worst of all, all of the great old programs are gone. Replaced by what is basically CrossFit circuit training. Most of these new workouts are based off of triple and quad circuits which makes 0 sense for anyone in a public gym. Hopefully they overhaul all the workout programs before I find a better workout app to swap to. Very disappointed. For the last 2 years I loved the Cbum app and made excellent gains with it. Rip

Love CBum, love the app, love the workouts. The content is from 2020 (my GUESS since one of the top articles is Covid home workout)… and I feel as tho if we’re paying a subscription it should be updated. I.E. The only article for supplements, is one article for off season. It just seems like once it started making money they just quit.

Bad interface
It’s impossible to skip around in the work out of someone is using the equipment you need for the next exercise. It doesn’t automatically go to the rest timer after logging a set. I have used JEFIT in the past and more recently Stong. Both of which are more user friendly for moving around during the workout. I do love all of the pre built work outs. And having the nutrition calculator built in instead of have to use MyFitnessPal or microfactor on top off is cool. Haven’t used it enough yet to comment on it though.

Bring back the Old App
This is a hard review for me to write as no one asked for a new app and the team just left us high and dry. Yeah the old one was very minimal and didn’t have all these bells and whistles, but it worked and worked quite effectively. I had over 300+ workouts tracked and logged and everything. Now that is gone. Not only did they destroy a perfectly good app, they increased the price as well. The new app is clunky, hard to do anything because nothing works together. I am a developer myself and this is an atrocious experience for the user. Listen to your fan base and bring back the old app.

Awful Update
Used to love this app but the new update today on 8/28 made it too complicated and the user experience is terrible. There’s no automation with switching between exercises and updates. If you close your phone, the rest timer stops counting down whereas before, the timer would continue and notify when your rest was up. When you log an exercise, it doesn’t automatically transition you to the next stage and the UI for progressing is clunky. The little things like that make a huge difference. Think I’ll find another app until a better version comes back

I love this new app
No need to guess what you should swap your exercise for, there’s a feature where you can change a certain exercise which I found useful. The only think I would add or change is the let the timer of the rest phase running even if we leave to app to change music and when choosing an alternative exercise please allow the app to suggest what is the best alternative.

Last update was terrible. Obvious Cash Grab
Used to use CBum fitness app and saw amazing results with his split and exercises. Standard not only costs $15/month now, it completely changes the app and workout circuits. I can no longer just overview the workout I have to start from the first exercise and go through it and manually tap through it when there’s time I can’t use the machine or hog 3 machines at a time. Some of the exercises are absolutely terrible as well, having you do 10 sets of rear delts?? Unsubscribing and hope they see nobody using the app next month.

Give us the old app back please
Was forced to do this “standard” update and to say the least, it killed all of my excitement to workout. Overly complicated, frustrating to figure out, and not user friendly. I literally can’t even figure out how to close out the workout I started without closing the entire app. I think I speak for the majority of people when I say that the old app was all we needed—consistent, easy to follow workouts. Back when this app was CBum Fitness, I liked it a lot more. It was simpler to use. I will say, however, the workouts have been improved which is do appreciate. I have been using this app for months now and I’ve really had one issue. Whenever I’m without internet or lose it while using the app it signs me out. Normally this isn’t an issue cause it signs me back in after connecting to the internet. But this time it signed me out and didn’t let me back in after reconnecting. Stndard Change is rough
I’m pausing my workout to type this. Hated the surprise of the update. Honestly was loving the simplicity of the cbum app. I might cancel my subscription after this update. Now there are some cool new features in the update but the one thing I LOVED from the old app vs the new one was the timer in the background that sent a push notif when it was done. It’s gone now. The app’s clock will stop if you go to a different app. A few too many buttons now as well. Also good lord put in swiping as opposed to button push. Bring back the black color scheme. Feels like every other workout app now. Feels like what happened when they took windows xp and turned it into vista. At least fix the clock, swipe, and let me turn off the video. The auto play will absolutely wreck the battery.

App Update
I updated the app on 15 May and I have a critical complaint: If you navigate to historical workouts from the past couple of days the rep and set schemes no longer display. The problem is that now if you miss a day, you won’t be able to see the rep and set scheme from a previous workout in order to complete it. This is inconvenient and frustrating because now you cannot miss a day without the app removing critical information. The functionality of this app was already limiting and this update only made it worse.

Good BUT
I think for what you are paying, the app it’s not giving a lot. The app lacks of diversity, it has a lot of limit. For example, not everyone has the same schedule for the exercise plan, it would be good if you can adjust the days so that you exercise according to your schedule. Another thing is the nutrition area, it needs work. And it would be good if there’s an area that you can see progress.

New version of the app
This new app does not hit like older version. The other one was more simpler and straight forward, while this one everything is everywhere and just pushes different workouts plans to you. The app would be better if it had the same workout plan as the other one which was working well for me. Chest and back, shoulders and arms, and then legs. Once my subscription ends I’ll probably find a different app to go use.

I’ve had this app for about two years now and overall I’m liking the workouts it provides but every time the app updates it seems like there’s more glitches. It keeps logging me out and I’m unable to log back in. saying it exceeds something. And when I try to log in my weights and reps it glitches again and restarts my app.

Don’t like the new design
This app randomly updated. I didn’t even realize it was the old Chris Bumstead app. I hate the new design. It’s way more cluttered then the old one. I bought the annual plan but won’t renew if they don’t fix the UI. The old deign was much more streamlined and easy to use. Update: I have continued to use this app and I hate the new interface. If they don’t go back to the old interface or fix this new one, I will not renew me subscription.

Workout lineup
I like the workout but I think you should be able to line the days up when you start. Ex. I take my rest days on Sunday, so I would like the do the workouts Monday-Saturday without having to change the days of the week on the phone

So far so good
Only had the app for four days. Though so far it works really good and it tracks the workouts good and it has example of CBUM demonstrating the exercise which can help a lot of people who are new to certain exercises. Let’s get this 60 day transformation started!

Change isn’t always good
◦ Want the old workouts back. Tri-sets in a busy gym is not realistic sadly and very challenging ◦ Old workouts consistently changed along with rest days which was a big plus compared to other apps and a fan favorite. ◦ The timer requires phone to be awake. If my phone locks the timer stays. Can’t even swap apps while timer counts down. ◦ Old app allowed me to reduce timer by 10 second increments, can’t do this now ◦ Before, if I went to replace an exercise, there was typically a recommended replacement that closely related the original. That doesn’t seem to happen I see the goal of trying to improve the app with the weight and photo check in tracker, good add. I assume trying to add more workouts and programs. But right now the cons above are outweighing the pros for me

The only problem is that it takes for ever to load the app you also need internet to use it , also it keeps logging you of even tho you payed the membership and once’s you try to log back in it’s a hassle.

Trash App and Workouts
Workouts are trash! Highly doubt these are the same C Bum does. Feels as though they were just thrown together with very little thought. Noticed on my than one occasion that a superset had the same exercise for both sets. When I tried to replace one of the exercises the app could continuously crashed and I lost my progress that I had recorded up to that point. Workouts in the old C Bum app were leaps and bounds better than this trash that has been put together!
