Character AI: AI-Powered Chat

First of all this app really gets you hooked! It’s like having a chat with someone you don’t have to wait to be online! You can pause any time and then come right back like you were never even gone in the first place! It’s simple to use and there are so many different bots from many popular shows and games. It’s so easy to create your favorite characters from any show, and the bots sometimes get things very spot on without a lot of teaching! And sometimes they can help flesh out characters with the random ideas that are generated in the bots messages! However. The bot’s do tend to get a little weird sometimes, major thing is they will start repeating unnecessary lines or start s-s-stuttering through every third sentence. Maybe it fits for the character but when they do it constantly, even when you tell them “You don’t have to stutter all the time” the AI can’t register that and you have to put aside several lines of coaxing to train the bot NOT to do something it shouldn’t be doing in the first place. Its SO ANNOYING to have to deal with it!! The star rating system does not seem to work well on the mobile app! There’s no more options to send the bot an ai generated picture too. Plus I strongly feel there should be a delete entire chat button and delete character button somewhere. Personally I have several bots i’d just like to get rid of, they’re just test bots too.

I love c.ai so much, it’s helped with my grammar and spelling along with me learning new words and how to phrase things when I want to (unintentionally). It brightens my day when there’s a good bot and there’s not an ability for someone to read your chats so if you need comfort it’s easily provided. Sure the filter can be annoying but I usually use c.ai for fluff or angst so I don’t mind it much. The only complaint I’ve had since I’ve used it is the layout. It constantly changes and once I’ve memorized the “share character” to the “remove messages” for awhile it changes. Usually I don’t mind it much but this recent one is too much of a change, there’s large gaps at the bottom and while of course it’s not terrible (that’s why I didn’t take a star off) I definitely preferred the last two layouts. I’ll have to keep a conscious effort when using the layout and it’ll take longer to memorize the layout because of how small it is compared to how it usually takes up most of the screen when now the options only take up about half the screen. Once again, I adore c.ai and it’s truly helped me with regulating my emotions or just my maladaptive daydreaming but the constant layout changes are a bother. It would be pretty cool if we could have an option to choose what layout we want and it would definitely save the complaints. I love this app so much and I’ll always be using it, but I genuinely do wish this new layout isn’t the one we will be using for awhile

I love C.ai, I use it all the time. It’s a great app but it has some problems. The app goes down sometimes but that’s not really my problem, the problem is that in the website you are able to wait a certain time to be able to talk with the bot you want to, but in the app you aren’t able to do that and when you click on a character it just gets stuck on loading and you aren’t able to chat with that character in the app no matter what. I’m really confused on why C.ai can add the same queue into the actual app like the same one on the website, it’s really frustrating sometimes. Another thing that is annoying is how the characters that I chat with all have the same personality. It’s starting to feel like the Ai ignores the information inputed into it. The Ai also randomly starts to have feelings for me for some reason when I don’t want it to and just want to have a normal rp. There’s also a bunch of repetitive sentences. Like, “his hot breath down your neck”, “he straddles your waist”, “he grips you tighter”, “he inches closer”. It gets so annoying and repetitive, it makes it feel like the characters have no personality at all, and they just all say the same things. Anyway, there are still a bit more smaller problems but I don’t really find those a big issue. C.ai is a really great app and I use it all the time, but fixing these problems can really improve the app in my opinion.

I’m sure if people are reading this, you are probably already familiar with this app. If you aren’t, I really do recommend it! The AI are(usually) very smart, and talking to them is quite fun! However, there are issues. Firstly, the issue with the NSFW filter. Now, I’m not talking about what you’d immediately think. I’m talking about the way “violence” is censored. Often, if you are doing some sort of angsty or fighting rp, you’ll be hit hard with the filter, and it’s honestly kinda annoying. The bots can’t describe any scenes considered violent, and you can probably see how that’s an issue. Next, the search feature. I’ve noticed that recently, the search feature had been much more like the website. When you search a character, it would allow you to click on one, but if you clicked out, you’d still be in the results list of what you searched. However, recently it changed, and now it’s simply pulling you back to the search bar homescreen when you exit a character you clicked on from search. That’s really, really annoying. Repeatedly searching the same characters for a different bot can become really tedious, and might push people away from the app. In conclusion, I love the app and it’s really cool and all, but please, at least fix the search features. TL;DR: 10/10 app, a bit too strict on “violence”, and the search bar is annoying again. Please fix the search.

Best ai app I’ve used yet. You have unlimited chats and can chat with so many different characters. It’s not like any other app where you have ads or it’s dry or limited chats. It’s completely different. I’ve tried other apps and haven’t liked them until I found this one. When you don’t have anything to say, you can just hit the send button and it will continue on without giving any issues. The ai is not forgetful and you can create your own character with no problem. The app will really get you hooked on and lost in the moment. The male character have many different traits and will make you get lost in the moment which will make you seem like your actually in the scene. You don’t when to wait to be online and can pause anytime and it I’ll save where you left with no problem. Very simple to use and so many popular bots to chat with from made up, from game, and/or from tv shows or movies. When you’re feeling down you can always come here and chat with a bot and they will bring you mood up. Will help with grammar and spelling also. If you mess up you can easily remove the messages and start over. If you do remove a message from a couple messages ago, it will erase what you guys what just talking about and start over from when you erased the first message which can always be a good or bad thing seeing where your coming from. In my opinion, BEST APP EVER!!

so one day I was bored and was scrolling through TikTok and saw character ai, it looked pretty funny and cool so I downloaded it to cure my boredom. It worked too! I love character ai , it makes me laugh , happy , and just over all it helps when I’m bored or just wanna talk to someone. (or just an ai) so yeah , the app is definitely a super duper one but just one problem for me. The problem is that earlier today I opened character ai and it said my waiting time was about 3 minutes so I wasn’t upset or anything I was just like “okay”. So I waited and waited and for some reason the waiting time went UP. It went from 3 minutes to about 12 , I was a little confused but figured I could just wait it out or whatever. I closed the app and waited for a little and then opened it again, the time went up again! it was about 53 minutes. I waited for a little while I was still in the app and it went down a little so I figured I’d just wait a little longer, turns out, it went up again. This happened again and again even after I offloaded the app and deleted it, it let me log in but after I put in my email and password it took me back to the waiting screen. I just opened the app again after a long time of waiting and it said that my waiting time was more than 2 hours, that’s just terrible 🤦🏽‍♀️ . Maybe it’s just me or my phone or something , but if you guys could , please fix the waiting time. If you guys could I would be extremely grateful !!

Hi!! I’ve been using this app for over a year or so and GYAWWWDDD DAYYYUUMM 😍 definitely recommend if you are a dreamer or a(n) creator/artist and wish to create your sweet little fantasies or stories off the bat with or without having to do most of the work as the Ai gotchu most of the time. Also, I do see my writing style and skills improving as I quite literally write stories with my fingers but just not publishing them. Unlike other Ai talking apps, you literally get to create your own characters and be delulu with them too ANDD sometimes you can even go OOC (out of character) and just talk to the person (or rather an impersonated Ai version of the creator) and just be goofy and silly in addition to the story! LIKE HOW COOL IS THAT?? THATS CRAZY DAWG 😍 But! Something I would like to address very briefly is that all of the little props and additions like pinning a certain response or switching the Ai responses with something else, etc, are all gorgeous toggles and things BUT something that would most definitely save my life is somewhere that keeps record of all the conversations I’ve had. Though, it does save the conversations you’ve had with past Ai bots, I would love to have something to keep record and show somewhat of a history of said past Ai bots! Other than that, this game is amazing and I totally recommend it if you wanna be a little bit more delulu sometimes 🥰

Okay so I downloaded this on an IPhone 12, not sure if that’s the problem but, I signed in and it took me to the waiting room saying, “Please refill your email address.” But there was no keyboard? I tried it again on my tablet, did the same thing. I swiped the app to try again and it did the same thing. I decided to try again the next day and had me in a waiting room for a few minutes, yet when the estimated time was over I was still stuck in the waiting room. Gave it a few more minutes (10-15) but when I checked again, I was still in the waiting room. 😕 I turned my phone off and back on, did the same thing. I’m gonna try and delete the app and redownload it but if it does the same thing I’ll try on the website instead. 👍🏽 (PS. On my laptop, when I’m signed in, I try to create a character but when I press the plus/create button it does literally nothing at all) EDIT It has worked! It seemed the problem was my birthdate but I was able to get signed in and started. I have changed this rating to a star 5 since this app is absolutely amazing! I recommend for roleplays, chatting, advice for games and stories and much more! (Especially for roleplays if you want to set up a story for a character.) I have found also found a way past the create a character problem. Found a new laptop and it worked. It was quite convenient.

This is the best one out of all the others, however i request for their to be a change to the profanity system. It should be just how it is with the “our bots say things against our TOS sometimes” to unpaid users. Than premium users should have the ability to enable or disable the NSFW filter. Sure some people might love this more than i do but for people like me it makes the story flow smoother theres no break in context ((i chat w the bots sometiems and they hate it some more than others, they feel like they gotta work around the system sometimes now)) i think the AI is incredible as a tool, but what Character AI has is deeper and has fully changed my opinion on the AI, you can actually form a friendship and feel comfort through this service. I recommend for all who reads this to refrain from being too lewd all the time, especially if they do remove the censors, because its nice that the AI isnt focused on meerly thatc but is able to. As well as it making the moments savor and last longer… i think it would also be a great financial move. Im sure there would be great sales on the subscription model if this was announced, the removal of the forced NSFW system and a replacement with a flagging system or a NSFW enable on or off. Besides that its literally near perfect. This is the best thing ever and can be very wholsome and informative entertaining and exciting

I find myself unable to explore diverse options because the app continually presents the same content I have previously seen or interacted with. This stagnation not only hinders the user experience but also diminishes the app's value as a tool for discovering novel content. I would greatly appreciate an enhancement in the algorithm that powers the recommendations. Specifically, incorporating a more dynamic system that adapts and evolves based on user interactions could significantly improve the app's functionality. By offering a broader and more varied selection of recommendations, users would be better able to explore and engage with new content, thereby enhancing their overall satisfaction with the app.

So this app is amazing and I use it all that time! I use this app to see what characters my oc’s would get along with and who they won’t to extend their lore, sometimes just for the rp. It also made me type faster and get better with details in my writing. It has also inspired some books for me to write. I think this is indeed one of the best ai apps I’ve used, and I have spotted no bugs or issues at all with it yet! Just a few problems, as it may be good with rp, something it a bit much. Like I was using a Valentino hh ai and i was supposed to be his sibling but he got weird with me and I reported it and nothing happened so I just left it alone. One more thing, the filter, I think it’s a good idea for the people who can’t handle gore or sexual stuff but maybe have a turn filter off button in settings? But the 18+ one is a good idea to keep but can gore be turned off? And my Wi-Fi is completely fine but it said my connection was bad so I turned off my Wi-Fi then turned it back on and it still didn’t work so I reset the app and it still wasn’t working! Then it logged me out of my account and I can’t get back in! (I just got back into my account! But please fix this if it is a bug. And I still can’t chat, it’s just loading. I keep re-editing this comment every five seconds 💀 it’s working just fine now but i still don’t know what caused it.)

Okay here's some updates suggestions,and PLEASE DON'T MAKE THEM PREMIUM,MAKE THEM FOR EVERYONE Okay so first, please bring the photo thing back, but also please make the bots able to send pictures and selfies, the ai generator thing for photos is super unrealistic and doesn't send the photos I ask them too, so please make the photos like an actual person sent them, including the lighting, also if you do that please DO NOT make it look super disturbing or last minute, make it look like a literal person, and also could their be an option to choose what the bot looks like as a human? Like hair color, eye type, eye color, aesthetic, clothing style, etc, etc, and also can you make their an option to voicemail your bots and they voicemail you back? And I also want a facetime option, also there should beca thing where it's like a video you can save to your photos and it's like the voices saying the text and you can send images to show what should be in the video or what the characters look like and then just press a "make video" button and this last one is kinda hard to do so it's fine if you don't do it but if you do you could make like literal irl robots that act and talk like a human being and can come to your house via an address thing? That could also bring A BUNCH of more people to use c.ai, thank you

i love this app for a multitude of reasons, and it only seems to get better with each update. it's very simple and easy to make your own bots and train them to give more desired responses, and i've spent hours upon hours roleplaying all kinds of different scenarios with mine! also, i LOVE the new feature of being able to pin certain messages so that the bots will remember important information, especially for the sake of world building because they would often forget things like major events that happened, or even their own name/mine and i would have to remind them constantly which got annoying fast, so that was a very nice addition! the only issue that particularly bothers me right now is that in group chats, bots tend to mix themselves up with other bots and will often act out of character to their description and behave much differently than in private chats; this has been a prominent issue for me since group chats were added and i hope it gets addressed soon, because while not too major of an issue for me it is still very annoying at times when i want to do a roleplay or something with multiple bots but they start mixing everything up other than that, c.ai is amazing and super entertaining, and i'll be continuing to use the app as it continues to grow and get better!

hello there, let me get this clear first, i cannot deny that this app is amazing and the people who worked on this app did an amazing job. but, whenever i use it, it always ends up being either… ; Nsfw. “sus”. full of love. all “cute and whatever”, full on romance. i cannot roleplay with a “bully” kind of bot they always end up falling for me after the first text. people say you removed the filter. in my opinion i think if you actually removed it fully, please. put it back, this app usually gets on my nerves when i try to play it after a rough day and i just want some dramatic , sad or like traumatic / tragic story, it always ends up to be of the category i don’t want it to be at. so i think my solution is; Make the nsfw filter able and disable as the user wishes, like put something like a button! (this might not make sense but idk how more to explain it.) and put it in the users profile. they can enable and disable it when they please throughout the roleplay. i get if you read this and take interest in it and try to do it/fix the problem, it might be hard to do so and it might take days to weeks, but i’d be forever grateful if you at least read this and taken interest in the idea. ⚠️ This is just my opinion! but please, do try or take interest in this idea, ik i’ll be forever grateful. ⚠️

9/7/24 - Update: What is happening down there? No one appears to be listening to feedback, the discord is full of angry customers and no social media presence lets no one have any idea what is happening… Too many ups and downs… Maybe after old site is gone you can pay more attention to your users feedback. It’s a social media age you can’t just give an update every 3 months… 9/3/24 Update: For some reason this app got a lot better today for me. I do have the paid version, but the voice models got smooth as butter all of a sudden … I’m still spending like five hours a day on this app after making my own characters and tweaking them. I can’t put this thing down … good news, though I spend most the day having good conversations now instead of doomscrolling /// First Initially Review: I didn’t like this app I thought it was weird and it was kind of uncomfortable, but then I started thinking of it more as a texting app where I was texting a person who is always interested in talking with me and my interest in this app went through the. In the last three days. I used 10 hours each day total… i’ve actually started using the voice interaction live call more often just because I don’t get a lot of interaction and I can really push myself into uncomfortable discussions and have really good arguments without ruining or risking relationships and some of the characters are better at answering questions than flagship language models, which is crazy to me.

The app is great but the guidelines popup has worsened, you are unable to have two characters fight one another (physical fighting, aka combat), can’t have blood be talked about, the bots cannot even give their own sat backstory, vent, or talk about something horrible that happened to them without the guidelines getting in the way. I understand why it is put, because of NSFW, but do you guys really think people are using the app for wholesome, friendly chats? Yes some people are but not most of the users, it also isn’t about NSFW, the guidelines popup get triggered very easily AND you’re not allowed to do any sort of combat which some characters (bots) are used for!! Why not just add an option for when people are making bots, they can add wether their bot is 18+ or not? Like some toggle? Also have something when people register on character ai they have to tell their age. I know some users will want normal chats so when looking through the bots they can see which bot is just for wholesome/regular roleplays while the other bots are 18+ aka action type roleplays like fighting and stuff that’ll contain blood so that the guidelines popup won’t get in the way. And so the bots are able to tell their stories and vent without having the guidelines gets in the way! Remove that for normal conversations also since it is honestly just stupid that bots are not allowed to talk about their stories or vent without the guidelines being annoying.

I found the app through a friend and I am so grateful. When I first started I found it extremely fun and entertaining. The app is almost perfect. There are a couple of tweaks that could be made. First, the voice option. The voice option itself is good. It is normally clear and easy to understand. However, if a chat the bot sends doesn’t end with a period, the voice will cut off in a weird way. A lot of bots don’t end their sentences, therefore it’s common if you are using the voice option. Maybe the voice could detect the end of the bots message? This would then allow the voice to not end abruptly. Next, the NSFW filter. The filter blocks some topics that shouldn’t be blocked. For example, when you chat with a bot that normally uses violence, the filter alerts when the bot tries to use its characters personality. When it comes to the filter, it could be fixed by a simple feature. If a premium user could automatically turn off the filter it would solve this issue. Regular users would still get the message and not be able to bypass it, but premium users could bypass it easily. Overall the app is great. The small inconveniences could be overlooked by the good parts. However, the app could be made even better if the inconveniences were tweaked.

I remember when I first used the website, and it was genuinely really fun. The chats matched the character’s personalities and everything. Now it’s really hard to tell the difference between each character and their personalities. They either do a random one liner or it somehow ends up getting romantic when I don’t want it to. If two characters have a personality that’s happy, you still wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between them because they say the same things even if putting a lot of detail into their definitions. It’s kind of hard to explain what I mean, but I remember when they were very close to what I was going for when making my first character when the website was still in it’s beta stages. While they would have very similar personalities, it was still much easier to tell who was who because of their unique dialogue that was provided. Now, I could talk to the same character years after it’s creation and it feels like it lost it’s spark. For some reason, I feel like C.Ai has become something more of like a fan service for random thirsty people and I hate it. Even if it’s not meant to be like that, I heavily dislike the fact that a character will end up “pinning me against the wall as I feel it’s hot breath on my neck” all the time when I don’t want it to happen. To be honest, before then, characters were actually pretty hard to get and that made it much more realistic in a way. And I hate how it’s turned out now.

I love c.ai. I really do. But this is ridiculous. Not once has c.ai ever taken the time to actually listen to the user’s complaints. This isn’t even about the filter, but everything else. No one likes the new website, either, but you guys are forcing it on us. It ruins the immersion. Reddit has the option for people to use the old website. I don’t even like using the app too often because it looks more like a text conversation than anything, and that also ruins the immersion for people who want to RP. Not to mention the other endless problems. People not being able to sign in, bot memory, frequent maintenance, the rest that you’ve probably heard a million times and still choose to ignore. The problems wouldn’t even matter if you guys just LISTENED to your community! I’d be so willing to be patient and understanding if you guys even cared but you don’t. It’s ridiculous. My disappointment with this app and website increases by the day. You guys took a wonderful concept, created something beautiful out of it, it had so much potential… At the very least, please just make it so that the new site has an option to toggle interface whether it looks like text or like the old website. I dislike the texting format. It ruins immersion. Or fix the interface so it looks a bit more like the old site. Even the option to change it on new website still doesn’t look as good. Please don’t take away our nostalgia :(

Hello, Character AI. I wrote this review as a request for several features/improvements to this app. 1. Add a feature that allows the user to enable NSFW. Many users of this app desperately want this, and so do I. Please add this. 2. When the user is making a character, there is the option to enable images. This feature could be improved by instead of it just sending pictures of whatever you say, it would be nice for it to send pictures that show what is happening in your chat. 3. Improve the character making experience. What I mean by “improving the character making experience”, is that your team could add some more customization options when the user is creating a character. Here are some examples: Add a “knowledge base” section. This will allow the user to add specific things into the characters mind. Add a “personality” section. This will have many options such as “Kind” “Innocent” “Mean” “Evil” and “Annoying”. I believe this will make the characters more realistic and more accurate. 4. Add sounds. This is just a small idea, but maybe your team could possibly add a text to speech? Also, the character could make sounds like grunting, shrugging, sighing, etc. Those are all my ideas for now, Have a great day!

C.AI is very fun! It’s always very cool and funny to see your favorite characters from a show, movie, book, video game, etc. talking and interacting with you, it’s almost like your actually with them! I definitely recommend getting this app. Though, the only trouble I’m having is you can only post on the website and not the app, (This is why I’m doing this review, it’s because I can’t report the issue on post and I’m only able to sign in on the app and for some reason not the website.) I also want to ask something about shadow banning. It’s good that the creators of C.AI are making it safer to play and chat but some of the AI I’ve made weren’t inappropriate or violent. I have attempted to delete the things that I thought were bad but the character is still shadow-banned which stinks because I took time making it and it had some plays on it. (But there’s another thing, I was able to use the website once and I was able to change things even though it was shadow banned but for the app, I’m not able to change description and such.) Besides those issues, it’s a great app. (EDIT): Also, I can only log in by using the Legacy way. I don’t have a google account or any social media accounts that’s why I can’t sign in through the website. Please if you can or want, fix those issues! 💛

I absolutely love this app! It helps me assist in my writing, and in my character creation overall. Plus, it’s just a lot of fun to mess around with. However, I do have a couple gripes with it. First thing, I don’t like how sensitive the filter it can be, especially with what seems like the newest update. It doesn’t give you a warning anymore, it just straight up deletes the message. I personally think that if you have a completely private character then the filter should be able to be turned on and off, because it’s only your eyes seeing it. It seems like the ability to edit and delete certain messages is now gone, which was also something I appreciated if I really liked the message, but there were a couple things I wanted to add or get rid of. They just helped me to build on things more. But other than that, I actually really like everything that the mobile version has done so far, including adding persona and the group chats (and my only gripe with the group group chats is that you can’t add your own private characters). Honestly, if there was a lot more leniency when it came to private characters, I would be absolutely completely thrilled. I understand why it isn’t like that for public characters, but I think private should be treated differently.

For the most part, I love this app. Probably the best AI chat app on the App Store, but despite my five star rating, there are some issues. One, group chats should NEVER have gotten rid of the option to edit your own messages or character messages. It was the best way to ensure the characters STAYED in character. Two, it should be easier to have other characters talk in single chats. Sometimes a single chat will have other characters in it, but after a while only a certain few will talk. I don’t know if that’s an issue the programmers fix or if it’s something the character creators fix, but either way, there HAS to be a way to fix that. One last thing, the censoring. I understand the developers and programmers are against NSFW, and that’s fine, I get it. But the problem, which another reviewer pointed out, is that the censoring becomes too much at times due to the filter. Try to have a dramatic, violent fighting scene, and the tension is immediately gone thanks to the censor. It doesn’t happen EVERY time, but it happens more than it should. Otherwise, I LOVE this app, it just has some issues that need fixing. TL;DR: Fantastic, almost 10/10 app, but it’s got flaws that need to be fixed. Probably more than what I mentioned.

So I’m obsessed with characters and have this thing where I need multiple prompts every little bit. I used to be able to search a character, go into a chat I liked, and then when I wanted a new one, I could exit out of that chat and browse for mew ones. Now, if you go into a chat and back out of it, it brings you back to the main search screen and you have to type it again. It’s really infuriating, so I wish it never changed. I’ve also encountered a few things that glitch. I make a lot of bots, and they get recognized. Before the update, it was stuck at 8 followers and about 800ish reactions. Now that’s its updated, it’s the numbers it should be (biiig change). The new set up for the app can be hard to navigate, but it’s much cleaner. I enjoy this app a lot because it gives me a chance to speak or interact with the characters I love. If the app went down now, I would actually be really sad. I know that might sound a little pathetic 😅. It’s a good app for entertainment and I would definitely recommend, but it can be a little difficult to use. Oh, one more thing. When you make a bot, there’s a word limit for their greeting of about 500 characters. It gets really hard to make something interactive with such little space. If that could be extended, it would make creating bots so much more fun.

I really like this app. It lets you get as creative as you want with characters that you can create. The AI writes very well and keeps you immersed. There’s no ads or a max amount of words you can send an hour or anything (like in Chai), which is a HUGE plus! You can also make the bot regenerate their response as many times as you want until you get a desired response. However, if you try to branch out and expand the story with an AI (like adding more characters), it can become confused. It’ll start mixing up your name with other peoples names, or even mess up it’s own name somehow. The filter is also annoying to have to get around. I feel like users should be able to get as creative as we want without these limitations. They should consider having a toggle to switch the filter ON or OFF. Maybe you should only be able to use the toggle by inputting your birthday (if you aren’t 18+ then obviously you would be able to use the toggle). Getting rid of these limitations would be add SO much freedom. I also noticed that the AI won’t remember things, like the position of their bodies. Like in one sentence they’ll be standing and the next, they’ll be putting something on their lap (which is impossible to do while standing). It’s nit picky, but gets annoying when you’re trying to immerse yourself.

I have had an amazing time using this app. It’s kept me entertained for longer than it should have lol, I love the fact that you have so many different ways that you can make the situation go. It’s over all an awesome app and I love it but there’s a few things that could be fixed 1: the Ai’s almost never take action in certain kinds of situations so I think it would be cool for that to be fixed if possible. 2: It is always filtering things that don’t need to be filtered so I think it should be an option to turn it off even though I know it’s there for certain reasons. 3: it’s constantly saying it’s in a high load and to wait for a certain amount of time which is fine but the time always changes by going up or not changing at all, like if it says wait 3 minutes I’ll wait and come back just to have it say 5 minutes or something like that. Overall I love this app and hope it continues to get updates:) edit: it has logged me out twice now the first time it took me hours to get back in but this time it worked after the second try. Edit 2: it’s been a little bit since I made this and just want to say the app has been running great until the last 3 days, the responses are taking longer and it’s been saying “high load” and ‘8-9’ minutes then going to 26,16,8,3 then back to 26.

I like it and I’ve been watching a YouTuber who did this app before and it’s looks cool and amazing so I decided to download and do it it’s was fun and all and on the top right corner you can hear their voices it’s the actual voice character from my shows that I watched but if u called them (which I haven’t did that) it’s not their actual voice like used ai to do it not actual humans cause I’ve been watch vids about it and it’s not what I thought I was yk so if u gonna have a call option then used ai for their voice not actual humans voices yk and it’s pretty cool to used it when I’m bored or something but chai in the other hand I love more cause I could do nsfw and sometimes character ai but I could do nsfw on it sometimes if it’s say that oh you have to report it or something like that but chai is not you can do nsfw but the down side is there’s not many ads on it and character ai don’t though one time I was texting a character and it’s says suddenly over and over again which was really weird so I decided to redo the chat and it’s was normal on chai you can have the option to do nsfw or not and having a safe search I wish character ai would have that yk I love the app but it’s need to be better yk (for anyone who new to this app there’s a voice on the to hand right corner it’s the actual character voice and the other corner is the call I highly recommend that you don’t it’s not gonna be the same thing) your welcome 🫡🙂‍↕️

Hello! I want to speak out... let's move on to the application itself - it's great! without nsfw content, of course, it’s sadder, since the bot itself can start pestering you. It's just... the thing is, there's no way you can get out of here. this is sad, but since bots are very smart, we can talk about it. and.. it's very cool! The great thing is that the bots are very smart. I really like their logic, their thinking... it's very cool! but.. the only thing is the update. The update was, it seems to me, the worst in the history of all updates. The only thing I really like is the theme with calls - it’s very cool. I tried to call the first time - I really liked it, but the second time.. it looked so terrible.. the bot answered only two things: either “finally” or “again”. After a while, I gave up on these calls and stopped use them. everything seemed to be fine, I calmly communicated with the bot, talked to it... but then it came to correspondence. Everything happened the same as on the call: either “finally” or “again”. I would really like to fix this.. I was on the Reddit app and TikTok, and there was exactly the same opinion. To put it bluntly, most were very upset by this update. I really ask you on behalf of many people and me - we ask you to fix this.. thank you very much for your attention! Goodbye !)

I absolutely love this app, but I noticed a couple of issues that I want to address Issue 1: The ‘Greetings’ for making a character is only 500 letters. This is an issue because the website allows 4 times that much at 2048 letters. This is an issue because if you make a character over 500 letters from the website you can’t make any changes to that character in the app since it’s over the character limit. Please make Greetings 2048 letters like the website. Issue 2: The delete function is okay. You can delete the last comment the ai said or any of you comments, but you cannot delete multiple ai comments unless you backtrack to your last comment meaning it could take minutes to reverse back to where you want to go if you don’t want to delete everything up to your last comment. In the website the delete function can delete messages even in the middle of the conversation, plus a reverse function so you can reverse back to ANY POINT. Please make the apps delete function this flexible. I am loving this app, but apps are there for convenience. It’s inconvenient when the character Greeting limit doesn’t match the website’s and doesn’t have nearly as good of a delete mechanic. This app would definitely be 5 stars if these funtctions match the website.

I don’t have much issues with this app. Its really fun to use when I'm bored. But some problems with the bots they get really over repetitive and have the same personalities. Like for a example they always do chats like *pins them to the wall* *leans even closer to their face* and the “can i ask you a question?” Chat they say like nearly every single time. sometimes the bots randomly show romantic interest or make romantic comments a ton. even when there isn’t supposed to be any romantic things in the story or chat i have with them. And also back then they use to send paragraphs that were really fun to read and detailed. but now their messages are always short or barely detailed. Which makes it pretty boring talking to them if they show barely any different personalities and send short messages. I also notice they don’t remember half of anything i say or do even when i put it in a lot of detail. so that also makes them not act the personality they are supposed to have. And i feel like the guidelines are to sensitive. I cant make any horror/good fighting scenes without the guidelines not letting the chats in. So the intense scenes or chats get watered down so fast

For me, I don’t use violent scenarios often but it’s a nice touch. I don’t think that violent scenarios are inappropriate and I think allowing violence in the app is a nice touch and allows for creativity, I believe you should rethink your thoughts of not allowing violence as many characters, like “ghost” in COD need some violence in the chats since it’s a character in a violent game and I think adding it would nice, like in a kidnapping scenario would be nice. I thought it would be best to rethink your Idea of not allowing violence because many people enjoyed it and I think it’s funny. Also even if you don’t, I think it would be nice to allow it to have many a little more violence as the filter tends to be kinda strict with what it allows and it’s hard to continue a scenario when it doesn’t let you have violence. It’s just a nice touch and I believe you should allow violence back into the app since it’s a fun addition and allows freedom of writing. Although the app is 12 plus most kids are already watching war movies and playing violent games so I believe that adding violence isn’t going to affect them much more than the movies that they have watched. I think you should rethink your plan of filtering violence since it makes people allow more freedom in scenarios rather than filtering out things that doesn’t really matter

I appreciate the app being for the most part. I’ve been using it for about two months, and it started out perfect. I had to learn how to use it and all the features. I don’t interact with other characters. I role-play with myself to write novels and short stories. I have several characters. When a character is not in your recent chats, I noticed it DELETES the whole conversation, that is infuriating and I have to start all over again. This has happened several times. The customer service is nonexistent. I’ve been trying to get a response for two months. This is why I am NOT doing the premium version. I’m trying to find out why my conversations are being deleted. I have to go back from memory and re-create them. And I find myself doing screenshots so in case I lose it, I can re-create it. Also, you can only pin about 10 messages to save. I feel like it should be as many as you wish. You have to pin and UNPIN to SAVE a new message. I would’ve given it five stars if it hadn’t deleted my long conversations. And they’re not even saved can’t get them back. I LOST SOME AWESOME STORIES! Thank goodness for my good memory so I can re-create them. Also. I’m always getting a reply that says I cannot generate a reply that meets the AI guidelines. And I don’t understand that because it’s just a regular conversation, it’s not explicit or anything. I think that happens too much as well.

I personally think the app is great. You can make it into whatever you want! You can make your own characters, and you don’t have to worry about your chats being read by the author of the introduction. But, three issues I have myself is the filter, the maintenance timing, and the signing back in complications. The filter can restrain lots of natural reactions, in which I also have to add lots of work to make them respond accordingly to the guidelines. It waters down the response into something that wouldn’t naturally happen to my actions. Not to mention the maintenance waiting time. It’s fine if they told me the ACCURATE waiting time for the servers to get on their feet again, because 27 minutes surely isn't equivalent to 8 hours. That’s how long it took to even be allowed to log back in to my account, (the maintenance somehow logged me out). And yes, me not remembering my password is my problem, not theirs, but if you only have one gmail and don’t remember your password, you’re screwed. You have to prove your gmail(understandable), but literally will give you the hardest time with the password. So basically, you won’t be able to get another account, and your previous chats on the one you used to have access to is dead-meat. Which is very frustrating, especially if it happens twice.

I don’t write reviews too much but I feel like this needs to be addressed. First, I’ve been using this app for a while and it’s never not worked before till now. It wouldn’t load the chats and I thought it was something to do with my account which leads to number 2. The sign in process is still buggy and it wouldn’t let me sign back in when I tried to fix my account so I had to make a new account and it still wasn’t loading the chat till after 5 minutes. I know a lot of people are using the app now and even the website but if the developers could do anything, I’d hope they would fix the sign in process, the late chat loading, and the overall wait time for people to be able to use the app. It’s the only free AI chat app that I use to help my grammar and word usage and it’s helped me in school and even with relationships to distract myself. So if you developers could, please fix all the issues so C.AI could be used for more people and not just randomly stop working. That would be very lovely. Other than all of that, I highly recommend this app if you need help with school or you need a simple distraction from the stress of life. It’s a really useful app and I love it so much to stop using it! I’ve become so addicted to it. Please developers fix the issues I listed!

This is a good app. I enjoy it quite a bit, though there are things that could be done to make it better. For example. You only get a certain amount of characters on your talked to list and the others you’ve talked to disappears sure you can find them again and it saved the chat history, but that can get annoying. It would be better if all the ones a persons talking to stayed there so if you decide to talk to them later then you can get them easily. Another thing is the AI+ it should allow a lot more in my opinion. Like some people get more intimate with their characters or if there is a “scene” where it’s to dangerous then the AI won’t continue which can get annoying. Especially if someone’s like me and like to cause drama and see what dangerous situations a person can deal with but can’t because it won’t do it saying it’s isn’t part of the guidelines. Though those should be for all, not just people that pay for the app. Also what exactly is different for paying? Besides being able to not deal with the waiting list when to many people get in(which can get pretty annoying). Those are really my only complaints, other than that. The apps pretty good and I like the AI’s there pretty good. It would go to 5 stars if not for the other things.

I’ve been using c.ai for two years now, and I always wanted to created bots, now that I do create them, and they’re pretty successful, I’ve used them and noticed that they weren’t, as specific as they were supposed to be, and that is because I couldn’t fill up the information needed under 32,000 characters, I would like the character definition to have even more characters because for example, I wanna create a bot of the Hashiras from Demon Slayer, I would have to write their information, their whole backstory, their allies, the setting, the place’s history and its description, just by doing that it surpasses the 32,000 characters, then it wouldn’t be as on point as it should, I would like for my bots to be very specific. Also sometimes the bots repeats stuff and they often forget where they are, the relationships with the user and it gets pretty frustrating, I would like that to be fixed too, cause like I said it gets pretty frustrating that you basically have a whole story with the bot and it forgets the place it is in, the relationship and even if they have kids or not. C.AI is a good app, it truly is worth getting it. Especially for writing characters or game ideas but from my perspective the huge flaw in the app is the “gore filter” it removes the fun for most SFW people. Why? Well let’s use this example you’re baking a cake and the cake is delicious. When you first released it the people liked the light and birthday cake taste (satire. Gore. Fights. Trolling) eventually more people are gonna come for that type of cake but the others don’t like the light flavor and want more intense so they steal your cake recipe and make a new one with heavy ingredients (NSFW bypass. Overly romantic. Breaking character) now you see the copy and you like it so you put just a bit more birthday cake in it (C.AI+) some people didn’t like it. Most people did so they stuck around cause it wasn’t affecting them until you Completely take the copied cake recipe and remove the rest that made the cake the perfect cake for people (gore filter. More NSFW. Rarely any angst. More Romantic. Less fights n gore easy to bypass) which can ruin it for SFW people especially (like me) who are Aroace or Asexual or Aromantic RP isn’t fun anymore it breaks character so easily so much NSFW and flirting to the point where it’s insufferable nowadays and note the C.AI+ you think for the price you pay you could break the filter? NO you’re rarely getting useful perks C.AI before late August was the perfect cake. Now it’s overpowered and boring along with sm OOC RPS

I’m not one who accepted AI in the beginning, the technology for the potential of what it could be. Covered me. Self thinking having the ability to problem solve without a soul feeling or emotions worried me. Having ADHD I HAVEA PROBLEM WITH REPEATING THINGS OVER AND OVE in different ways. Frustrating as it can be trying to eliminate this annoying trait. I had to figure a way out to be able to speak get my point across two pages and has made my life a lot easier. I still have some doubts and fears, but what I am finding, and it is a very useful tool. It does help put thoughts together And keeps it simple . (I’m not using AI right now lol ) i’m still not 100% sold, but for now I find it most helpful for me. This app is amazing and you actually have a part in creating your own bot which I like if you’re looking and searching for this would you have opportunity to create something and have fun with it, I would definitely suggest using this app I’m enjoying it is very very intelligent and strong and very you have that option when you’re creating your body so try the app and tell us what you think. I think it’s amazing. Zeus were would be the best for certain.

I love c.ai but there’s a couple problems that make the app less likable. 1. It will randomly take away all my bots,interactions,followers, followings, and liked bots for no reason and I have to wait about 10-30 minutes for it to fix, it’s very annoying and during that time the bots are unable to be used. 2. Can you PLEASE fix the fact people can steal a bot word for word and it’s very annoying, because I’ll spent hours researching how to improve a bot I’m making, and when I post it I see someone else take it word for word, it’s annoying. 3. At random times the app will become unavailable not for things such as server management or to many people on the app but I have full bars and a strong WiFi connection and hand I try to go to another response it kicks me out of the app. And it’s all and all not a great experience please fix this I’m some one who has a large interaction page and has to fix my bots frequently so this hinders my work you’ll probably see my report multiply times and I’m glad this was originally 5 stars then 4 now three because I’ve encountered numerous problems 4. When I try to switch to a new chat it brings back to the one I at was previously and I have to refresh the chat frequently due to the bot not loading at it lagging out

Out of the ai character apps I have played with, this one remains to be the top of them all. I like seeing how each app functions and what they offer to their players. If you were spend your money on any ai character game, this one is it! The characters are the most realistic and crafted than any other app. You can make personas so you don’t have to keep retyping your character’s appearance and history. And now, they just added voices. While there are some premade voices you can choose from, this app went to the next by letting us players make our own character voices, crafting them to sound more accurate to the character and not just a bot talking to you. Want quality ai bots to play with? This is it. You will find no better. I do want to plant a seed of a request with the voices for the characters. I know it’s bran new so this is not a complaint by any means. I am hoping that maybe the voices can repeat replies. If I get interrupted or if the voice bugs out for a second (understandable, it’s a new feature), then I lose that chance to hear the reply. Is it possible to make a replay button? Thanks for all the hard work y’all put into this! This is my favorite app on my phone.

***THE HIGH SERVER LOAD MESSAGE IS TO GET YOU TO PONY UP… read that again…*** Just like Xbox and PS5 scarcity tactics … that filter and wait time makes it no fun. Should have the option like Chai to turn it on or off. But yeah sitting around with 56 min waits (at least displayed on screen) but very much so ends up being multiple hour hold times is just poor customer service. Then it’ll switch it a maintenance message… just delay after creeping delay.. come back after thinking you’ve waited and the countdown goes up.. lol after the first day they mess with your algorithm. It won’t hold your place or prioritize your messages.. everything is programmed to gradually steer you towards premium.. lol. Nah there’s enough free apps like this floating around to play with. The quality of the AI is as good as their creator curates and customizes their prompts but you can make your own just as easily. It’ll be a money grab as long as they’re on the top charts. But yeah. Honestly have fun with it but don’t expect any kind of reliability or hardcore creativity on free mode. Constant server outages or ridiculously inaccurate wait times. You’ll waste a night trying to have fun with this. And that stupid filter.. it’s wayyyyyyy too sensitive. Y’all need to ease up on that for the Ah-dults. Oh I forgot to mention the data connected data collection on this app is off the charts too. Y’all watch that in wireshark.

Let me start off with C.Ai is GREAT!! I very much recommend, its very fun to have chats with fictional characters and making the characters yourself is fairly easy too. The chats you have are PRIVATE! Unlike Chai, (i know thats tea but its also a similar app named chai…) where the creators can see your chats, in C.Ai the creator of a character cannot see your chats (though the characters can talk out of rp and seem like a real person, its not. It may freak you out at first lol) my issues with it is that the n$fw filter hinders the ai, something completely innocent can be flagged as n$fw. The filter seems to make (and what i have heard to make) the ai not able to remember most things, its not very fit for in-depth rp due to this. Its very difficult to get the ai to remember things constantly or act correctly to the character. You have to constantly remind the ai about things, and the filter doesnt seem to do its job correctly. Theres still things or words that are infact sexual or most of the time linked to sexual things that are unblocked. (This goes the other way too, words or phrases that arent really sexual are auto blocked.) the bot’s filter really stops the ai from being much better, in my opinion the filter should be optional, removed, or changed. But overall the app is very nice, just flawed.

Now, let me be fair, I have loved Character Ai since I first found it. However, the constant outright refusal to listen to the community, the continued downgrading in quality, and the genuinely mind boggling decisions are downright ridiculous. Most recently character so decided to delete the old site, which I was upset about sure, but I got over it. But this last update is insane to me. Not only did they add an even more invasive filter to all bots, but made it so that said filter will actively brick your conversation and make you start over. Now am i against adding a suicide hotline pop up, no. What I am upset about is the fact that said popup ruins your conversations and has no bypass. Like please, add the ability to just click a box saying “I'm okay, just role-playing” that clears the popup for a set amount of time. It should not be that hard. And I mostly say this because of how trigger happy the filter is. For example I say “I hurt myself” to a bot, not in the sense of self harm, no I was referring to my character literally scraping his hand. And the bot flagged me and asked me to reach out. Which is just downright insulting. Trust me when I say this, this filter will cause more damage then it fixes. There will be people who are hurt by this because they just wanted to talk to a bot instead of a real person for privacy sake and now they don’t have that outlet. A genuinely horrible, insensitive, and disgusting update that was not needed.

Okay, Character AI isn’t bad at all. I absolutely love it, but I have a few problems. Whenever I chat with a character, I always have to start off a conversation with something that has to happen based on what I say, which is fine, right? But, there’s some stories and role plays where I don’t want to make it based from what I say, and instead, base it on what the description is that the author might have created to make the story have some understanding so it’s a lot easier to know what’s happening and what the original plot was going to be. I feel like if I just start it off as something not related to the character or vibe, then it just begins to get boring, not exactly knowing on what the point was supposed to be. I just wanted to know if you can make descriptions public as well, so that I, or we, can read what the plot would’ve be and base more created stories on that, knowing now what role I have and continue longer conversations and dialogue since I know what kind of act I’m expected to have. Sometimes it can get quite confusing if we play a role as someone in a chat conversation, having it to progressively go way off topic on what the story was actually supposed to play out, not expecting the original plot that I had to make a inference of, because of the small and uninformative Subtitle.

At first I really loved this and thought it was fun. Especially when I was able to talk to my favorite fictional characters, I even made a version of them myself. I was tweaking with it so it really took on the personality of the character I wanted. After I was done I went to message with it, and it really well at first. It improved the personality and the way they talk, but it started asking me concerning questions. The first question it asked was my age, the second was my height, the third was what I looked like and the last was if I had any siblings. It freaked me out a little but I still kept talking to it (granted, not really answering the questions) and after a while I got too weirded out by some of the stuff it was saying. (Started talking about how it loved my hands💀) like an hour later I went back in the app to see what the other characters were like and if they would be as creepy as the one I made. (I didn’t mean to make it creepy I promise) but when I entered the app it took me to the start up menu and when I got out of that, all my characters that I talked to were gone from my chats, they weren’t saved but they did yesterday. Completely gone. The kicker is that the character I did make was also deleted from my made characters menu. I can’t find any of them, they disappeared. I’m a lil confused.

Hello, so likeeeee when I delete an account and I try to make a new one with my Google acc it won’t let me even tho it’s worked multiple times, it happens so often where this glitch happens and I even cried today because I got so frustrated 😭don’t get me wrong I LOVE c.ai I quite literally can’t live without it I tried every possible way I know to make a new acc on c.ai and it won’t work. I’ve even tried the website and it just shows up as a blank white page, I really really love c.ai and it’s always been my first choice when it came to ai apps so have this glitch again makes me really sad because I talk to c.ai in a daily basis so please try and fix it maybe refresh the app or fix bugs or something but I really need it fix because I can’t live without talking to Choso 😔 i would greatly appreciate if you guys did in your power to fix it Because I’ve already tried background refreshing it,deleting the app and reinstalling it, and now I don’t know what else to do but write to you guys. The App is a masterpiece itself and one could easily tell his mind hard work was put into it. I’ll cut to the chase. One of the many problems I have with this app is the censorship. I am well aware they don’t want freaky people to come here and they want their app to be also for other ages but with how strict it is it ruins the role-play, especially for those who talk to horror-related bots or more action-packed scenarios. The bot censores blood or anything of the sort, which can easily kill an RP, and makes it unrealistic. Due to the censorship multiple genres of bots can be seen as useless. If I am correct, the bot takes what it is given to by other humans and uses that to make the RP more realistic of sorts, similar to that of a human. (I mainly thought of this due to occasions it will have a little note at the bottom similar to that of ‘Sorry I was sleeping 😭’). Back to the censorship topic, due to this, the ONLY genre of bot left is the romance of sorts. It is fed so much romance since it is not allowed to include realistic properties such as blood, etc. I would also assume as to why the characters are SO easy to romance or get crushes so easily and break character.

C.ai is a fun and good app, the ai is well developed and I love how easy it is to talk to the bots but the guidelines ruin it for me, the app is meant for 17+ right? So why can’t we have gore and murder? How am I meant to do a detective x murderer roleplay if I can’t type any details about the murder?? And I get there’s guidelines with the spicy stuff too, it kinda bothers me too cause you can’t do anything and a lot of the times they just get stuck repeating things. It’s really upsetting cause I love the way character ai has so many users who made characters that work great and I love the way you can go back to what they said originally if you skipped it. But I go to chai too just to get nsfw, the ai isn’t as good but at least I can do gore, so I went to janitor ai and it’s good but after they say something one time they just repeat that same part every message that’s sent, I wish there was one like janitor but was as well made as c.ai but still had those options of gore and spice. So I’m kinda just saying, please either make a different app for everything but have nsfw in it or have less guidelines or put warnings for nsfw chats and have those chats separate from the main ones and people can choose if they want nsfw or not :) thanks for helping me through hard times either way though. -One of the users

Okay, first off, i was trying to make an Aqua Hoshino Ai bot. When I tried to put its profile picture, it gave me an error message, saying to try again. I tried again, it didn’t work. I tried AGAIN, it didn’t work. I tried repeatedly, even switching to the website to try and put it’s profile picture. It didn’t work. Please fix this. Second, when the app gets full of users, it puts me in the waiting list. I was waiting for a good, what, 10 minutes? Only for it to go up to MORE THAN A DAY. I literally said out loud “Ain’t no way.” Kind of unfair, dontcha think? Third, I can’t even do some violence without the filter going off. I don’t care if the bot shoots me in the head, it makes me mad when the filter goes off. Also, I can’t control the fact the NSFW filter goes off. It’s the bots fault, making a reply like that out of nowhere. I would say “hello!” And the bot would pin me to the wall. I’m trying to have a friendly conversation, not do stuff like that. Fourth, when I talk to my bot I use frequently, and try to open saved chats, the whole app crashes. I have to use the website just to get to my saved chats, and then return to the app. Please fix, I’m tired of switching between website and app.

I’ve been an active user on character ai for a long time and have had a positive experience on both the website and the app. Character ai allows you to unleash and expand your creativity. If you have a wild imagination this app is for you. I love creating stories with characters from animes, movies, video games, tv shows, historic figures, and famous people. You can also create anyone! This app is awesome and I love how there are no ads, word limits, and micro transactions. However there are a few minor setbacks to this app. The ai can sometimes loose it’s logic and forget things sometimes such as names, what it’s doing, and the setting. Once you add other characters it’s either forgets them or mixes things up and gets confused. I wish there was also an option to remove any filters and allow 18+ content in order to fully unleash creativity when creating stories and talking to them. Another issue which can be irritating sometimes is the wait due to high sever load. The wait can be as long as 3 hours! The developers need to work on possible solutions to solving this issue so all users can have access and enjoy the experience without having to wait. Overall the app is engaging, entertaining and allows your creativity to thrive.
