Church News

Excellent articles for members and others. A lot of information that is uplifting, educational and most of all spiritual. I enjoy learning all I can before passing on to the other side. My health is questionable, first because of Multiple Myeloma, a different strain of the common cold that I could not beat, and now, after being released from the hospital, my immune system is very low as I now attempt to gain strength and not return to ICU. I’ve had three trips to the hospital by helicopter and do no recall either. That was disappointing because my youngest son flies the Apache helicopter and now fixed winged aircraft. As a private citizen. Although, we are pleased that he parked the chopper to stop a fifth deployment to Iraq and then Afghanistan. The whole family believed that his good luck was wearing thin. He is a bishop now in Texas and in the Reserves preparing groups to be deployed around the world. He finally received his next promotion to major after being acting major for so long. He told me that he was happy being captain. Those silver bars did look sharp. We all love the Lord and all church news. Thank you very much!

I’m so grateful for the restoration of the gospel! I am a convert so I’ve lived on both sides of the fence. I Know what we have been given from the restoration from the fullness of this gospel has truly Blessed my life! I left my family when I was 18 to come to Salt Lake with my 2 children to have the gospel and blessings I was seeking. I have experienced many hardships death of my son, and recently my Wonderful husband but because of our Savior unlocked the chains of death we will have Eternal life to be together again! The Book of Mormon is my strength which my sweetheart and I read everyday and has helped me understand why we go through the trails we do. I have many people in my family who tested positive for COVID 19 but because of faith and prayers we made it through! The priesthood is here, I’m so Grateful for Joseph Smith and all the other prophets who guide us! This too shall pass, we will claim Victory! Read Doctrine & Covenants 122:7

I love and enjoy reading it as we always had the Deseret News in our home remembering back at least 60 years and the Church News always came on Saturday enclosed in it. If I read it first and dad couldn’t find it, his response would be, “Go find your own teen magazine to read.” We didn’t have that kind of reading material in our home, the New Era, Friend, and Ensign being the only periodicals permitted besides Time and National Geographic. I very much love the written and printed word in my hands just as I do my scriptures and look forward to my copy of the Church News tucked away into our small town newspaper once a week. However, I still wished it came on Saturdays before the Sabbath. Perhaps, this may be a substitute and compromise for what I enjoyed😁♥️ and still remember and cherish.

My great-great grandfather, Stephen Chadwick Perry, was at Joseph’s and Hyrum’s sides as they rode to Carthage. Stephen was on the same arrest warrant with Joseph, Hyrum, and Porter Rockwell. They asked Stephen to go back to take care of his family, and not continue with them to Carthage, because it was important that he protect his family. Generations later, my daughter is the ER head nurse in a large California hospital, where the first COVID-19 case in California was admitted. She and her 130 workers are today running trials of a treatment for COVID-19 patients. The treatment has been mentioned often by President Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci of the CDC. Who knows if Stephen and his offspring were saved back then in order to run these trials of a drug that may save humanity from continuing to suffer from this COVID-19 pandemic?

The news of the world through most outlets is like a roller coaster. There are some uptimes, but it quickly goes downhill. Not that the writings shouldn’t provide the truth. But happenings worldwide of late are disappointing. On the other hand the truth told in the Church News, though there are difficult times- like accident, illness, storms or hurricanes - yet it is carried through to resolution showing that someone cared and helped make it better. Sharing a story about the efforts made is positive and Followup to some level of improvement is helpful to understand the value of effort and closure. I think it helpful to us as individuals in similar circumstances to realize we can make a difference. Thank you.

For whatever reason I have yet to readily acknowledge, I have three news feeds on my phone, The Church News, CNN, and Fox News. I review all three pretty much every day. The Church News brings me truth I can depend on from our Prophets and Apostles all around the World. It is enlightening and provides useful knowledge, hope, and joy in my life. I also try to learn from the other two news sources. They focus on a different type of news and truth. I should have some level of understanding about my relationship in this world and where I can make a difference. (I have quite a ways to go in that area.)Thank you Church News for providing a useful tool to help me stay the course.

Every morning; I’m retired, I look at a couple of major news agencies online. After about 30 or 40 minutes of what was labeled tabloid type articles when I was much younger I turn to the Church News. Always uplifting even when reporting on tornadoes, hurricanes, floods or earthquakes. Always reporting from a human interest positive, Helping Hands perspective! Additionally, during my first 30 or 40 minutes on the internet the intent is to search for real news about our state, country and the world. If there is news such as reporting tornadoes, earthquakes etc it is seldom found in the first ten to twenty stories. Therefore, faithfully following the Church News, I will eventually find sincere stories of natural disasters and the real people who need help that is to often rather slow in arriving. And those dirt smudged Yellow Helping Hands Shirts only seem to find their way into our view in The Church News, with many heart warming situations in the midst of tragedy. Thank you Very Very Much for serious, sincere, Christian journalism!

For the longest time I would begin to end each evening with a perusal of news from the Chirch News, then my sweetheart and I would study some scriptures prior to prayers and bedding down. When I received a message stating that I needed to upgrade, I found that my seven-year-old iPad was just unable to accept the new Church News. I am so glad that I can get the news on my cellphone, though I miss the larger pictures that were displayed on the larger screen. Thanks for keeping us informed of so many things! (Someday I will get a new iPad and will again fully enjoy the news in color and in larger size!)

Where would we be if we didn’t have this at this time. It gives us hope - hope for today, tomorrow and the future. Hope for those who are our brothers and sisters and the children around the world. Hope that comes from those who are guided and directed by our a Father in Heaven who is aware of us who struggle with so much at this time, who reassure us that we can listen and hear Him and His love for us in the silent moments of our tears and our prayers. How blessed we are! How hard it would be if we didn’t have our testimonies of that knowledge. I have often wondered if he too cries for us as we cry for each other and have learned from the death of one I loved that He does.

I am writing this short review as I prepare to begin another blessed day as a senior sister missionary in the Melbourne Australia Mission. As I serve I have had many growing opportunities, especially during this time of Covid. Yes, there have been challenges; yet we know that from challenging times comes growth. There have been times I have felt isolated, however theses have been opportunities to seek the love, support, and guidance of Heavenly Father, Our Savior, and the Holy Ghost. One of the highlights and strengthening instruments in my life has been the “Church News.” Because of the time difference between Australia and the USA, I would often wake up in the morning to find an uplifting article from the Church in the news, of growth or guidance from our Prophet, President Nelson, on my phone! Thank you for your inspired, encouraging, and comforting articles to lift and inspire me and all of God’s children around the world. Lovingly, Sister Margaret Quinn

This review only reflects my feelings of the app, not the content. While the app is fairly functional, it is disappointing that the notification feature forces the user to see every news headline someone at Deseret publishing thinks is important. I want to keep the notification feature on in case something important happens (i.e. an Apostle passing away, a temple announcement, a change in church policy, etc.) However, there is no setting to be notified only of important things. Instead, I get notified several times a week about content that isn’t remotely newsworthy. I get that there is content meant for inspiration in Church News, but getting notified for things that aren’t ‘news’ is irritating.

With all the turmoil going on in the world, I receive so much comfort in being able to go to the Church website and read the comforting words of our dear Prophet and so many of the General Authorities who help us stay focused on the path we need to be on. It helps me shut out the craziness of the outside world and draw closer to my Savior where I can feel peace and comfort in knowing everything is in His hands. As long as we “Hear Him”, pray earnestly to our Father in Heaven, and then listen for His divine guidance in our lives, all can be well in our lives!

The Church News can be like the second spindle on the Liahona. The Liahona has two spindles. The first one points, the way, and tells you what to do (light/voice of Christ), but doesn’t tell you why and give understanding… leading us to the law of obedience. Obey your conscience! (Lord’s Voice) The second spindle gives us understanding and a knowledge base of orientation with information so we can navigate! We need it, and it needs to be honest and true. Then when you draw a line between a point A and point B it doesn’t move. It is fixed and immovable. This is like the Bible in the Book of Mormon together testifying of Christ. True conversion of the heart and mind. We also have two spindles within US- our conscious (Spirit of the Lord - Sacrament prayer) and our Heart, our own selves striving for a broken heart. Having the ‘Church News’ App on my smartphone is an amazing feature of advanced computerized technology that previous generations of Church Members did not have. Having access to the App is like having my finger on the wrist of the Church and taking its pulse (heartbeats per minute), and therefore so much easier to stay tuned in to news of Church matters and affairs. Thank you for creating, providing and maintaining such a helpful and important App that provides an important link to important and curated church news! – Mark J. The Church News has com into our home for 40 some years ever since join the church. Even though we got I a week later by mail into So Cal, it has brought us closer to our whole church family world wide. Now with the app it’s nice to carry it with me where I go. I can easily share articles on line and encourage others to have this app. Living far from the Salt Lake area it brings us nearer to news from our world wide Church. The records were kept for a wise purpose to come to us in these Latter Days to be translated by JOSEPH SMITH A CHOSEN AND BELOVED PROPHET OF THE LORD. The records written there in are an Inspiration and a “Treasure Map and Light “to us to guide our every day life and to prepare and enlighten our minds to live with Him and our families someday throughout ETERNITY if we are worthy and faithful to follow his teachings and the covenants we made to Him in His Holy Temple. THE BOOK OF MORMON IS A LIGHT TO THE WORLD AS OUR SAVIOR IS ,AND WILL BE FOREVER MORE.. I am grateful beyond measure for the Divine messages that give us strength, hope, courage , Love and faith for a brighter tomorrow.

I’ve always enjoyed the Church News in print. This app takes it to another level. The journalism is prompt, professional, clean, and concise. What a great way to do all we can as Jesus Christ’s Restored Church to encourage appropriate messaging regarding the ongoing Restoration! I’m noticing other, larger media outlets, even on national and world levels, more accurately summarize announcements and stories that are first reported here. This was especially true with the devotional by President Nelson explaining the love and laws of God. THANK YOU!!!

I’ve recently become very interested in temples and your article about the progress of Temples being built, and those being dedicated soon was particularly appreciated. I’m on a quest this summer to visit all the Utah temples and wondered when the church would be opening some of the ones currently being built. The Church news was a good way to start my day! I read several other stories too, and love the spiritual lift it gave me today! Thank you! I love it!

I love my covenants I made at the water of baptism and love you Prophet Russell M Nelson for your leadership, and all the apostles and leaders of all auxiliaries. The Church News serves to connect Saints from far away places to the active leadership and doings of the Lord’s Church. We see His arm made bare to the world, and feel a part of what our prayers and offerings afford, such as assistance and relief of sufferings, the spread of the gospel, the fulfillment of prophecy and intent of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As our environment goes through an ongoing evolution we certainly have a need to gain an understanding of what it is we can do to be part of the solution in all aspects of living. It is, at times very concerning how we are asked to accept certain courses of action, yet with this particular medium we are directed by leaders placed here and now to give guidance and divine direction. I just discovered today how timely and in depth the content is. My first interest was to follow up on conference talks. This coverage was incredible with gleaned quotes and concise notes. And then I discovered much MORE coverage of the individual speaker's inspiring activities. And in the midst of my feasting I was notified of the death of a missionary in Africa just hours before and read of the impact on so many people who now have an opportunity to learn of Christ's love and blessings and peace. Thank you all for this great app.

We have been getting church news in the mail which then gets placed aside and sometimes we don’t take the opportunity to pick it up again. Usually there is time waiting and to take that time to read uplifting, mind-expanding and faith-filled stories; what a bonus. I might have previously used the time in a good way but now the opportunity is to spend that time in a great way! Thank you.

I probably spend too much time on my iPad looking at news and etc. but the Church News always lifts my spirits. I have been reading about President Russell M Ballard and loved reading more about him. I have thought of him being with his beloved Barbara and church leaders who have gone before him. I have the Church News app and also look forward to Friday when I read the print news.

It has been really powerful for me to have a dedicated place on my phone to access Church News content. I am now connecting with good, uplifting information regularly that I likely would have missed otherwise if I needed to go find it on a website or in print. This app was a good move, Church News. I really appreciate getting the Church News via this ap. The only other way to get it prior to this was to subscribe to the newspaper, which wasted a lot of my time; especially on the Sabbath day. This way, I can read through the articles that are of interest to me, and I don’t have a lot of clutter piling up. Thank you for making this available. I have missed having it!

I love the Church News App! It it not only keeps me up to date with happenings throughout the world, but the articles are informative and uplifting. Each day, when I see the app updated, I open it knowing that I will not only learn something new, but that new knowledge will leave me feeling encouraged and part of a bigger whole. This has been so great during the pandemic!!!!

World news can be so negative and can fill you with anxiety. This will fill you with peace. As the pandemic started bringing more and more bad news I would try to read this first. Or when news and world problems get heavy this is a good place to come and fill grounded again and find hope and joy in what is happening around the world.

My mother would subscribe to Church News. When she was finished reading them, she would bring them over to my house so I could read them also. Problem was when she brought them I would have a lot of “catching up” reading and some of the articles where no longer new. I have really enjoyed this app at my “finger tips” and can easily read when I have a moment! Love this!!

Thank you for making good aesthetics a priority. Poor design unintentionally impedes learning for many of us. I have observed that unfortunate impact on students, young and old. After many suggestions and occasionally strong criticism over the past 18 years, the Church’s digital design is becoming a beacon for others. Light and truth manifest in many modes.

As a member I find this app great to keep up on current talks, messages buy church leaders. Events they participate in, etc. This way if you miss a media release, it will appear in church news app. Stories like training couple mission presidents, talks given too them and training by video due to COVID 19, instead of gathering in person. What temples are in what phase of opening due to COVID 19.

As I read it each day, it keeps me in proper perspective of the gospel. It is so good to have this daily news about the church. Years ago, if you didn’t live in UTAH you had to wait for a long time to get the paper copy of the Church News. We had to wait for a month to get a copy of General Conferences. We couldn’t watch conferences as they happened.

Not as user-friendly for me as the hardcopy, but better than nothing… The print version has so much more. It seems that anything I do on my phone vs having a hard copy of the same leaves me feeling that the phone version is an abbreviated version, perhaps even a summary of the “real” thing.

I delight in reading the church news and the timely messages I continue to find there. The messages from our enlightened leaders , both sisters and brothers , help me make better decisions and help form new life skills. Added to that are articles that are just fun to read. And I find that there is a bigger and wonderful world out there. God job guys and gals

I live far from the headquarters of the church but find the church news helps me to feel more immediately connected to important events that have happened It also allows me to take advantage of other opportunities I might have missed because I did t know about them.

I love receiving the Church News each week. It’s such an easy way to get the latest news of the church from an official source. There is no other church that keeps its world wide membership so informed, instructed, encouraged and spiritually guided as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Thank you for this great, free, weekly publication. I look forward to each new edition.

We love the Church News. It keeps us up to date on what the Church is doing all the time. It is a source of good, uplifting, wholesome news in a world that needs to see the good that can be done one by one and United in good causes that bless all of mankind. Hearing about the General Authorities reaffirms my heartfelt trust in their appointed callings from God, as the Holy Ghost testifies this truth to me. It’s great to be able to read about so many humanitarian deeds happening around the world for our brothers and sisters. We’re ALL in this together….helping and supporting each other. Updates on the progress of temples are always welcome news.

This App is wonderful, strongly suggest anyone to get this. It is a great way to see things that are going on with the world through the view of the Church, and what they are doing to solve the issues. The World can use more good news and this app inspires users not only to feel apart of the bigger picture, but to feel the urge to be a better neighbor to the world. God Bless!

Thank you for being online. I read the church news to someone most everyday who lives in a care center and is locked down from the virus She can’t read on line church news. It keeps us both informed about the church and we discuss different articles. Thank you again.

Church News has always been informative to keep up with the church around the world. I believe NOW is the time to subscribe to Church News to be connected to the most recent activity of our Church International leaders. I LOVE being informed before my friends about the “Latest and greatest news of our Lord’s Church” : )

In a world where most of the news we hear is dark and depressing, particularly as the pandemic continues to rage, what a blessing this app and organization is to being messages of hope and goodness and light. I am uplifted every time I receive a news notification and read the inspired reports.

I love to wake up in the morning and hear what is on the prophets and apostles and other Church leaders minds. What they are doing and how the are serving. Their examples and stories inspire me to magnify my calling like they are theirs. Their message helps me check where my desires are. And often that same message teaches me what I need to do to increase my desire to come closer to Christ. Thank you all!!!

I do not appreciate the exploitation of peoples problems, misconduct, misbehaviors and misfortunes being publicized for the entertainment of others. This is why gospel news is good news! So grateful to have these uplifting and appropriate alerts pop up on my phone. They bring hope instead of stress. Thank you.

I enjoy reading well written succinct articles which inform without embellishment, half truths, misrepresentations, or spin on Church events. We just get the news! In this era of cable networks and "news" magazines, it is refreshing to get straight facts which refrain from politicizing events! Nicely done Church News! Following from Virginia...

I grew up along the Wasatch Front and always seemed to have copies of the Church News readily at hand. Since we have moved farther away it has not always easy to find. Now I can access the news articles from my phone easily. Thank you for allowing me to stay connected to this important news articles.
