The bottom bar is now almost impossible to see the nav icons, which makes it really frustrating to move about the text. You can’t see exactly where to touch to begin a search, and navigating search results is also difficult. It didn’t used to be this hard, so I feel REALLY bad for anyone new to the platform. I know there is a button for that, and I can tap around until I get it right, but if I didn’t know, what would I do? It has also become so difficult to turn pages that if I can’t catch it right the first time, I open the menu to get to the next section. Did I mention how you can’t see the nav icons at the bottom? Right, so THAT is also not as easy as it should be.
For every problem I discover wrong with this app I will deduct a star. My problems right now is this app is so hypersensitive! With the slightest touch words get highlighted and it’s aggravating. I don’t have the greatest of eye sight so I have to zoom in due to the letters being so small. I have to scroll side to side to read the text and due to the app having a swipe feature if I scroll to hard or fast it will either go back a page or go forward a page. When I go back to my page I’ve lost my place! I did online schooling at another school (Penn Foster) and their system was so much better. Easy it didn’t have the swipe feature, highlighting was easy (and had an array of colors), you could underline words or sentences, highlight a word for the definition, and zoom in and out no problems. Their app actually had a good rating unlike any of Ashford apps. Maybe you guys should check out their system and what their doing right.
The toolbar on the bottom used to be visible for easy access to table of contents and searching. With the latest update, the bar is white with white or just off white color of icons. This also happens in the search bar, the text is white so it’s not readable. The functions are very important. Please fix them!
I like how I can take my reading on the go. Unfortunately there seems to be one additional issue I noticed outside of what others are saying. When I highlight a text, it is not allowing me to change the color. This feature was available in the past, but doesn't seem to work at the moment. Otherwise a solid app.
I don’t like the fact that you can’t download textbooks (that we paid for by the way) to keep forever. I also hate that there isn’t seamless integration across multiple devices because I’ve had problems picking up from where I left off on my PC, laptop , phone or tablet and make studying time consuming. I would give this app zero stars if I could as it is hindering and not helping my ability to study without being glued to a PC for hours.
Part of the beauty of being enrolled in an online program is the ability to have flexibility in the avenues available to complete work. That beauty is disrupted when those avenues are constantly disrupted by an application offered that just cannot get it right. After dealing with the madness of not being interfaced to work with Dark Mode on iOS for literal months, now the application is closing immediately upon opening. This is terrible.
I try to get to the home page from reading a book, but the app closes instead of taking me back to my library. Please fix this, I cannot read books from my mobile devices with this problem. I cannot access my other books.
I downloaded this app in hopes to have access to my book materials, but I’m unable to navigate the app what so ever. Once I log into the app it states that I have no downloads available. If I wanted to attempt to fix this I can’t because there is no bar or tab that is available. It only provides me with a logout, tutorial, and contact us option/s.
I usually love this app, but I cannot see any of the “buttons” at the bottom. They’re just a square with a question mark in them. Also, when I try to search something, I can’t see what I’m typing.
I cannot read my books when I am on the train, a blank screen shows until I’m outside again. My highlights are not transferred to the other devices I use. I cannot highlight in different colors unless I am on a desktop or laptop. The media embedded, plays when it wants to, and not when you need it.
This app is a glorified web browser. Endless scrolling, fixed font size . . . when it doesnt crash. They off er epub versions of the books but everyone of them is broken and missing content. Its embaradding that someone thinks this is a quality solution. Shame on you Bridgepoint, for all the money you charge this is just pure laziness.
Online, via a laptop or desktop, when accessing the Ebooks there is a way to access audio book versions too. It's a shame that you can't do the same via this app.
Just downloaded the app to my iPhone 5. Works great. No problems with startup or download. Unfortunately, text cannot be resized and is too small to read on my phone screen.
Also if I delete a book, it should delete highlights and notes, and when redownload don't download two copies of the same book in one book. Is nobody fixing these glitches?
It was working for my 2 weeks of class. My 3rd week it won't even let me do anything without kicking me out of the app. I've tried to delete it and add it back and now it won't let me download the books I need.
I don't even know what the app can do because every time I try to open my e book the app keep crashing. I deleted it and re- downloaded it and the same thing happened again. Thought I could use my book on the go.
Doesn’t work. Books now download but the navigation bar is invisible on ios 13. I can’t see bookmarks,home, or how to get to the chapters to go to different areas of the book. Please fix.
If I could give this app negative stars, I would! I have NEVER been able to use it...EVER! It does not work. And I emailed support...nothing...no response!
I have used this app for over a year now, and so far the only problem I have had is it crashes periodically. I have to delete the app, reinstall, then reload whichever book I was reading at the time of the crash. It is quite a hassle, and seems to happen when I need it the most. This problem is not something new, I have dealt with it for a year now, and was just recently a victim, yet again. Hopefully this bug will be ironed out soon. On a positive note, when the app works, it works well.
THIS STILL DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY!!! How as a student can I try to continue going to this online school when the Apps that are suppose to make studying and homework easier do nothing but make it harder?? I have tried to define words...nothing, and then it kicks me out of the app!! I have tried to look up certain words..and I still get nothing. I have removed and re-downloaded the app numerous times. I also have every update possible. I am beyond frustrated that I keep paying for books and classes only to be let down. This is something that should be very important and I have had problems for weeks now. I have called and only get "we are looking into the problem" how is that helpful to me, or my grades? Work needs to be in in a certain time but if I don't have all of my material on hand my grades suffer.
Just downloaded the constellation app for iPad. What a help. I was going into the constellation site through the student portal and downloading the books as PDF then copying them to dropbox and uploading to iBooks. This worked well but takes a lot of steps. I'm sure glad this app is here. Although, I am not a fan of how you have to navigate the chapter sections. I prefer to flip pages instead of navigating up and down within a section. Something to get used to. I may still use the PDFs and dropbox to get books into iBooks so I don't need the Internet connection to do some reading.
I like this app because I'm not constrained to reading off of my laptop screen when I don't want to or have the space. I like the notebook feature that stores my highlights in one place for me to go back over. I would have to say that the worst thing about the app is having to babysit downloads, because if my screen turns off during the download I get an error saying the book could not be downloaded and to try again later. So that's a bit annoying. But, all-in-all, it is a helpful app to have for the vigilant Ashford University student.
I used to love this app, but over the last six months, I have grown to hate it. It doesn't load just about every other time I use it, which means I have to delete the app, reinstall and the re download the textbook about three times a week. Every time this happens, I lose my highlights and notes. Problems began well before the latest OS update; I called tech support and got a snarky customer service person who kept insisting that what I REALLY meant was that I was having problems with the discussion forum (um, no), and finally told me someone would get in touch with me (over 3 months ago)--shocker: no one did. Tech problems on occasion are to be expected, but this is ridiculous.
I love the features as far as carrying all my books in one application and be able to study anywhere and everywhere instead of at home on my computer. The ability to highlight and add notes is unbelievably helpful. However there are two problems. For some reason I am not able to watch the videos in the textbooks anymore. I used to be able to but now ever video has a no play sign displayed in the center. The second problem is that there is no audio download option like there is on the desktop. Sadly not a five star app.
This is of course very useful. I love that my text books are so accessible and portable. However, sometimes (too often) the app bugs and will stop letting me highlight. Sometimes it will only let me "copy" with no option to highlight, other times the highlight feature will malfunction and will only let me select text from the right to the left, instead of left to right. Clearing the cache doesn't help, turning off the iPad and restarting usually fixes the bug, but not always. Please fix this!
This app used to be great. I'm using it on an iPad and have been for about a year or so. I'm not sure what happened, but lately it keeps freezing all that will display is a white screen. I close the app and re-open and that doesn't resolve. The only way I've been able to fix it is to delete the app and re-install it. Not exactly a great process to have to keep doing (daily as of this week), especially when I have studying to do, the time spent troubleshooting and resolving would be better used actually reading my course materials. Super frustrating. I hope they can fix this bug soon.
I love this app. It brings my textbooks right to me. I don't have to lug around a backpack full of books. I can learn in bite sized pieces at my leisure. I love being able to search my textbooks and the highlighting experience is great as well. All my notes and highlights are saved so they display when I use Constellation on the web. Great app.
It is great to be able to read my text on-the-go, but I'm in my 3rd week of class and at least 1/2 the time the app isn't working. Problems I've had: 1. As of this moment, the app crashes every time I try to open it. This is the 3rd time in 3 weeks that it has happened. Updates are pushed out and it works for a few days, but then starts crashing again. 2. It cuts off the last 3-4 letters of each line of text, so I have to guess what words are. 3. Only works in portrait view. In landscape view only the bottom navigation buttons show up. 4. On 2 occasions it has lost all my highlights and notes. Luckily I was on my home wireless network and everything was backed up and I was able to pull up all the notes on my computer. Fix the problems, make it work consistently, and I'll love the app.
I love this app because I love being able to see my books without being at he computer. But lately it has been crashing every time I open it up. Also, like another complaint, before this, when I would close it out without exiting a book, the bottom bar would take up half the space. An update to stop the crashing would be nice, since I can't even look through my books because the app won't open.
Necessary application but the functionality stinks
This application is a necessary part to my online coursework. The issue I am having is that occasionally I get a blank white screen and all of my literature for my courses disappear. It seems the only way to restore the literature back to the application and to eliminate the white screen is by uninstalling the application and reinstalling it. This is getting to be a tedious affair considering the class I am taking has only been in session for one week and this is my fourth time reinstalling the same application. Please do something to fix this immediately!
I can read my books, I just can not change the color when I highlight things. Major inconvenience for me. To listen to audio book I have to download from computer and transfer to my phone, so it would be neat to just be able to listen to on the app. I just know depending on carrier we may want to consider the data charges of they update that audio capability.
When this app works I can actually get some of work done, but I have to delete it and re-download it almost once a day. It was also nice when we were able to us the definition option... Now that doesn't work. How much longer do we have to wait for these bugs to get fixed? We pay a lot of money to further our education and these concerns should be taken seriously!
This app is awesome. I personally this app is better then viewing the books online through the school website. I love the fact that I can view all the pages in a chapter, and then choose what page I want. Thank you for this.
You would think the bugs and issues with this app would have been fixed by now. It has been over a month. I rely heavily on this app so that I can study when I am not able to use my computer. How many complaints are necessary before something is done about this? Do these people just not care that our grades depend on access to this? When this app worked, it was amazing. Now.... I am starting to dislike, not only the app, but the university itself. FIX THIS ALREADY!!!
