Class schedules are missing from the app. Seems like an obvious gap to me. I appreciate the fact they have an app but it’s never been great and barely works. Invest in native apps and stop shipping web backed content.
Seems like a big miss for the new app to not show the class schedule at any location. If there is one it is too hard to find. Updated: As I looked at this new app more I wonder if there was any user research done as it feels more like a marketing tool to sign up for trainers or the gym itself rather than a tool for members. Why we need a link out to our maps to located the gym as a main feature is ridiculous as is the gallery. You need to be a member to have the App so not sure why this is value add. Also these should be app updates not a need to download a brand new app with each update. But seriously there seems to be no user experience design and more a corporate wish list. Nothing now on this app offers much value. The previous app was much better and that’s not saying a lot. I’ve never written a review before but this is shockingly bad especially for a San Francisco/Bay Area based gym centered in the tech space.
I appreciate that Fitness SF has an app and has been iterating on it, but this app feels worse than the previous one. Not sure why “amenities” and “photo gallery” are included front and center, but class schedule is missing. I already know what the gym looks like (and if I happen to be visiting a new location I could find that information easily online). The lack of class schedules anywhere on the app makes this useless for many members. While I don’t use the app for much, the user experience is subpar. It’s constantly reloading on every click.
They emailed us today informing us the old app “will no longer work” (as of when??) and that the new app has improvements including “ A location-based home page that shows you everything happening at your favorite location” That’s just flat out false as there’s no info whatsoever but the hours, basic list of amenities from the website, and literally the address. Here’s hoping this one is more reliable than the last but seriously. Ask one single user about your design. What a joke.
Agreed with other reviewers on 1) no class schedules, 2) marketing ploy with all the refer a friend links. Relatedly the front desk person at Transbay was incredibly aggressive on making me download this new app even though I was already going to be late to my session. “The trainer will wait” but if they have a session after me? My time still gets cut short? This prioritization of activities was very bizarre when sessions are $100+ on average and clearly from this app update, they want to get more clients…
The app works fine! I mostly just use it to check in and track how many times i go but what I think would be really helpful is if there was a place I could see how busy the gym is at a certain time so I can plan accordingly
The gym requires the app to go in. It suffers from a a very basic form of login bug which blocks you from entering the gym, which you pay for. Garbage. Bug details: attempt to reset password via the app. No reset email is sent to your account but your account is put into some sort of “is resetting password state”. You can still log into the website using your own password, but not the app.
Had some issues when it was first rolled out but as of the date of this review I haven’t had any issues. I do keep a screenshot of my login QR just to be safe though.
Fitness SF has heard us and provided an app that is functional and lacks infuriating design flaws. It’s not outstanding but it is finally something that I can use every day without being angry as a result. Kudos to who brought in the right team for the job.
Older app still worked. Deleted it in favor of this newer version and I can’t sign in. Keep getting the error “Password is not yet set. Please reset your password.” I try to reset my password but never get the reset email. I can sign in to my account on web with current password no problem. Maybe the update 2 weeks ago broke it.
It hasn’t been insisting I log in every time I use it. So that’s a plus. But the only reason I ever open the app is to check class schedules. That feature of the old app was well thought out. Why is it gone? I really don’t need photos of The Team, but classes are a must.
As we all use our Apple Watch to track our fitness goals, it’s essential to have the fitnesssf app in our watches, also it will make the check-in process way faster and easier, especially when we don’t have our phones in handy.
Blank white screen every single time I open it. Have to constantly delete and redownload the app also the sign in page doesn't work with 1 password autofill please fire your pathetic overpaid hacks you hired as contractors for this trash
They introduce a new app that’s supposed to be better. You have to create a new password for the new app. I was instructed to select “forgot password” to get email instructions. No email sent. Alll this so I can update my payment method. Total rubbish!
Password validation criteria does not seem to match website
The app gives me an error when attempting to login: “password must be 6 characters long.” which I believe is the wrong error string. My password follows the guidelines on fitnesssf dot com.
I’m glad the class schedules have now been added, but there’s nowhere to stream Les Mills classes on-demand, which the old app gave the option to do (and is one of the primary reasons I chose this gym). 😢
So not only do I have to log into my account securely every time I want to check in, but I also am required to change my password every few months? It’s a damned gym membership app. Stop the madness.
lmaooooo app wont even let me login and it says “error pswd must be 6 characters long” when my pswd has 12 characters… silly app!! won’t be using it :~)
I feel like I can do much less on this app compared to the last one. You’ve basically given the app a “face lift” with the nice visuals but why do I always have to sort through all your locations to get to the gym that I frequent the most? Also, I thought the new app would allow us to sign up for classes right through the app, but they’ve taken several steps backwards and now won’t even let us add a class time to our calendar on our phones. Unless I’m just a dummy and can’t figure out how to do such a basic task, I think this new app is completely unintuitive and isn’t set up to help me accomplish the basic tasks I come here to do such as see the class schedule for all the studios (at the only location I go to) so that I can pick a class that best fits the time I’d like to workout. Please bring back the old app until this one becomes more useful.
There is no reason I should have to sign in to this app at all other than to view payment info. It doesn’t save any personal info, like preferred gym, or even display the correct day in the schedule. It just shows the schedule from Monday each time. It seems so lazy on the part of the developer to not even get the current day and display that days schedule. Why does my password have to be so long and have to change constantly? Why do I have to login if I switch to another app for a moment? So many whys...
This app is terrible. This is their new version and it’s so much worse than the last. Sign in every time you open it. Then click on a location just to get a synopsis of the gym as if we don’t already go there all the time. This is supposed to be for current members not people who need info. It takes five minutes (hyperbole) to scroll down to get to the class schedule. And the schedule doesn’t show you sub information. Or sometimes even current teachers. It could be cool...if it was the first app ever made.
This app is embarrassing for a largely tech clientele
So, I’m pretty sure 80% of people that go here work at a tech company including me, and this app is embarrassingly bad given those circumstances. The default filter for searching classes is Monday rather than contextual to what day you’re searching on. 2. Filtering between locations, classes, everything is hard. I liked the old app better. The last issue is the biggest one- every time I log in- it makes me change the password to a new one. WTH. Please make this simpler to use, do some usability testing, hell I’ll do it for you and redesign the app for free membership. Some primary nice to haves is being able to favorite classes and save them or add them to my calendar. I go to a couple of different locations, so being able to save them, and add them to my calendar would be dope.
The Layout is super clean and the app is easy to navigate. It’s nice how it now syncs to my phone and I do not need to type my info in every time. A few bugs but I’m sure will be corrected in future updates.
The original (2 apps ago) app was so much better than all of this nonsense- a) why doesn’t it remember your main location and keep that as the default? b) why can you not click on a class and get a description of the class and the teacher? c) moreover, you can’t see your training reservations- this is useless except for a barcode to check in.
Just don’t even provide an app if it’s this bad. I love this gym, and the only thing I used the app for was Apple Wallet integration to check in. Now I have to clumsily thumb through different tabs and sign in on EVERY tab. I’ll uninstall for now and 🤞🏼 for at least an apple wallet integration to come back in a few months. Also, these 5 star reviews are utter nonsense.
App requires a pass word change EVERY month!!! Not even my bank app requires that. Very disruptive to arrive at the gym and can’t check in because I have to change the password yet again. And when a password change is required, the app won’t accept the paste from a password manager. Grrrrrr
I’d be so embarrassed of this app. Anytime I try to use I’m left asking “WHY?” 10 times. The web browser is more friendly than this. The old app was not perfect but so much more functional. I bet the same person who made the decision to replace the steam room at the Fillmore with more showers made this decision too.
All this time to wait for this app? Can’t even add the pass to Apple wallet....? This is a step back from the last app somehow, which was also garbage.
Once you close the app it forgets your information. When you enter your password and login information it forgets them and says that they’re not valid. The only way to get back into the app is to delete it and download it again
Keeps requiring me to enter my password every time despite click yes for facial recognition. Doesn’t show scheduled personal training sessions. Please fix.
The new app is just terrible. Something as simple as changing payment method doesn’t work. Statements do not exist. An example of failed app built by sales force.
