After about 1 1/2 years of struggling with my now-4 year old about brushing teeth twice a day, I stumbled upon this and it’s a total game-changer. It took her about 2 weeks to get the hang of it, but she wants to use her “Neat toothbrush timer” every day now and happily brushes and brushes well. (I spot check after she’s done for now.) My only complaint is that I wish there was a confirmation button in the store before buying things. My child keeps getting excited to buy something big, saving up, and then accidentally hitting the wrong button and buying something else. So an “Are you sure you want to buy this?” button would be awesome. Thanks!

If your kid is not a perfectionist, maybe this is a good app for you. If your kid is a perfectionist, this will be a cause of tears every night because your kid will insist on doing it over and over to try to get a perfect score, which is nearly impossible. This is largely due the fact that there are certain angles in which the app cannot detect that the child is brushing — despite them brushing furiously just to make the app detect their efforts. The frequent 13/16 and 14/16 scores would be tolerable if the app have the child the opportunity to go back over areas they “missed.” But nope. 2 minutes? Done. And you didn’t do a perfect job. Try better tomorrow. Worse, my kids’ brushing technique has worsened because they are contorting their brushes into unnatural positions to try to get the app to see them brush certain teeth. This app is the bane of my existence. Do not get it unless you have kids who do not mind losing at a game. Parents of competitive kids beware.

Has been a great app to really get the kids motivated and excited about brushing. Took a little bit of getting used to, particularly how to angle the device properly. However, it's a bit glitchy. We've had several minor issues of losing progress, which is annoying enough and leads the kids to get very upset, especially challenging when it happens before bed. This week however, after two months of using the app, it just completely reset. All progress was lost - literally thousands of gems. Devastating to the kids. Contacted support and was made to feel as if I'd done something wrong. A promise to escalate, but literally no follow up. Was able to convince the kids to try again from the beginning, but if it happens again, I fear this will have the opposite effect of what we wanted - having them swear off brushing. Hoping Colgate works out any glitches so as not to have to deal with this again, otherwise we'll need to find something that works more consistently.

I read this app five out of five because I really thought it helped me a lot my kids started brushing their teeth better. Their teeth the yellow of food in it but when I started brushing with this app, I thought that there was something gnu about my teeth. They’re a beautiful white. I loved how my teeth for shiny. Also why I read this five out of five and there is no scam or anything on the app. No ads that pop out of nowhere when you’re brushing your teeth from my experience and my kids I think it really helped us. If others see this. I hope they give this app a five out of five.

My son is special needs he’s ADHD autistic and cognitively impaired so getting him to stand in one spot for 20 seconds was hard let alone two whole minutes to brush his teeth this product has saved me because he is obsessed with video games in the lake and this is just like a video game!! This is amazing if you have a child with special needs and they love the video games and they hate brushing their teeth then this toothbrush is what you need to invest in I got it for $15. Please please please go purchase this product again if your child can’t stand brushing their teeth but he’s obsessed with video games🥰🥰🥰

Got the app and toothbrush for my 7 year old daughter. I love the concept around showing her how to brush her entire mouth and being able to see results for her brushing sessions. However, the app continually loses days worth of progress. Before we noticed the issues with the app, I attempted to incentivize her using it with a reward after certain milestones. Now she regularly turns it on and sees that several days of progress have been lost. She also loses the little rewards within the app like the filters that get unlocked as you progress. It has become such an aggravating disappointment that when it’s time for a new toothbrush we may have to scrap it.

This has worked well to get my daughter to “brush” her teeth but it doesn’t force her to actually BRUSH them. The timer doesn’t stop when it can’t see the brush, so when she gets upset with the toothpaste in her mouth and has to go to the sink to spit it out, the timer doesn’t stop. I think she’s getting about half of the time needed by occasions when the app can’t “see” the brush. The big problem here is when it says her teeth are done being brushed by the app, she won’t keep going no matter what we say so we end up with a sub par brushing experience that is at least better than without the app.

This has been great for helping my kids visualize how to brush all of their teeth. They struggled with the “outside” and “inside” brushing. This helps show them to brush those parts and how to rotate the toothbrush when brushing there. I also like that it makes it fun while having them brush for 2:00 minutes and they get fun rewards on the app. As a parent, I enjoy that I can see which parts of their teeth they could use more practice brushing. Only thing I wish was an option was to add if we wanted time for flossing. Otherwise, awesome app to promote healthy brushing habits.

My kids hated brushing their teeth wouldn’t brush by themselves for longer than 10 seconds we started using the adult app because I got them the adult toothbrushes they are 5 & 7 and they are the same size as their kids toothbrushes and they are now wanting to brush their teeth all day they would brush them now every 20 mins if I let them they love getting to see what a good job they are doing and getting points to redeem in the store is pretty awesome too. I was so jealous I had to get one also to get in on the competition 😆

I like this app a lot, we’ve been using it for a while now. The only issue we are having currently is my 7 yr old is missing teeth so those areas stay yellow so it makes her upset when she can’t get the 3 stars when she’s brushing perfect & today she brushed an area with no teeth following the app and tore her gums open. An update should either scan the teeth better or have a parent indicate areas where there is temporary missing teeth. I contacted customer service per the response I received from the developer here but they didn’t seem to know where to send any suggestions.

We initially loved this app like most but almost daily my 7 and 4 year old are brushing correctly and in frame and in the right lighting and it doesn’t give them diamonds. There are times they will brush their entire mouth and get nothing. This often ends in tears and frustration. It’s a fantastic concept but its not consistent. I have even brushed for them and know we are doing everything right and it won’t work or recognize it properly. If I have to deal with frustrated and crying kids after brushing their teeth I may just move back to a normal brush and reduce the drama in the morning before school and at night before bed.

My sons (ages 6 & 3.5) love their toothbrushes! They’ve brushed with minimal issues since they got them and it has been wonderful! I do have two suggestions for the app developers. 1. Create an option for more spit breaks. One just isn’t enough for young kids. 2. My older son gets frustrated that he can’t get 100% because he’s missing all of his front baby teeth and has nothing to brush. Including an area in the parental settings to account for missing teeth as to not frustrate the kids would be a wonderful addition! Otherwise, this is a great product that I’d highly recommend!

I have always had hard time for brushing my son’s teeth, probably for sensory issues and as any kid of his age (5 now), his priority isn’t to take care of his dental health, as he isn’t used to an electric toothbrush at the beginning he was afraid of it, so, little by little he has been getting more familiar with it and accepting to use it more often. What is helping is the usage of the app, he likes the little monsters and he plays like if they are really coming to get him and that’s what makes him to get engaged. I think the app needs some improvement, it seems the connection with the toothbrush and app some times gets down. Overall it is a good idea to encourage the kids to take care of themselves.

My kids love brushing! My four year old runs upstairs when it’s time to brush and my 8 year old won’t stop talking about what mask she’s saving up her diamonds to buy. The only thing that has caused some grief in our household is how immediate and final purchases are. There’s no “are you sure? Yes/No” for purchases, which is somewhat frustrating with little ones because they love pushing buttons and don’t understand they can’t get those hundreds or thousands of diamonds back after an unintentional purchase.

Great concept but implementation is severely flawed. App doesn’t recognize the toothbrush after the first change in position 90% of the time, even after repeated restarting. It frustrates my child and makes him not want to do it at all, or leaves him in tears when he gets only 1 star. Tried using the iPad instead, thinking the bigger screen would be better, but the app constantly glitches and the previous screen plays over the next making it impossible to even use. I was really excited for this after reading reviews on the toothbrush, but will not be purchasing again when it’s time for a new toothbrush.

We’ve had this for a month and my son loves playing. However, twice now my son has loaded the app on his tablet and it tells him to sign in, then he finds that he has far less points than he did before. The first time he lost all his points, tonight we signed in and it was down to 304 when he was at over 1,000 previously. If he gets frustrated by this and stops wanting to play, then that will be such a shame. This has really improved his brushing. One other thing—the two times he’s had to sign in again, I’ve needed to confirm a link from my email. Why the double verification? It’s a toothbrush app. I don’t want to have to go into my email every time.

I have absolutely had it with this glitchy app. I contacted Colgate back in February about it erasing my son’s brushing streak right before he reached a milestone for a medal. The rep that responded asked if I had a screenshot of the streak. Heck no I don’t. Who screenshots their streak on a daily basis. I responded to their email, and I got an email back saying I had contacted an unmonitored mailbox. Never heard back from them. My son was devastated. He restarted. He was about to reach the 50 brushing streak. He was on day 48 today. He brushed once. When he went to brush the second time for the day, it just suddenly said his streak is 0. I am so over this. This is supposed to motivate kids because it just disappoints them when this crappy app doesn’t function. I’m so over it.

The app and toothbrush attachment have made brushing his teeth into a game. He loves getting diamonds to unlock masks and stars to get new levels. The question for the dev team: I have is in regards to updates. We’ve been using the app consistently twice a day for almost a year. (It’s great for us) but at this point we have unlocked all masks, monster streams, and teeth. Is there anything else to ‘buy’ with our growing diamond counts? He is still motivated by unlocking levels with stars, but additional masks would be great!

The app itself is adorable, and my children love using it, but the lack of a password and the use of a “magic link” to log in is problematic. The account can only be on 1 device because the magic link doesn’t work on a second device (even if you have access to the email that receives it), which means children who aren’t around the same parent/device every time they brush won’t be able to use it. I logged out on my device to see if that was causing the issue logging in on a second device, and now I’m completely locked out on any device. If I had a standard password, this wouldn’t be an issue.

We love this app - it’s ingenious. It completely changed the way our mornings and bedtimes go - what we used to dread is now so much more seamless. And we’ve loved watching our kids become great brushers along the way. The problem is that our kids conquered every level months ago and purchased every possible perk with their earned points. And still no new content from Colgate. Please add more content! New lands, new rewards to keep them motivated. They are starting to lose interest, yet there’s so much opportunity to keep this app going for years and years. Please add on!

It used to be a battle to get my 4 year old to brush (his dad is a also dentist). After introducing him to this app, he’s going it after a couple of peaceful reminders. I have told many of my parent-friends whom have kids around the same age. My only complaint is that it’s not linked to more than one phone. So the reward points (aka diamonds & masks) aren’t synced between parents’ phones. It would be fine if we had one device that was always used for tooth brushing.

This thing is shockingly awesome. It uses AR and the phone camera to read the angle and speed and tooth your child is brushing. It shows a real time feed of the teeth being brushed and a worm on the tooth you defeat by brushing at the right speed and length of time it goes around every surface of each tooth. Then you get a reward and take a photo after you brush your tongue and mouthwash. This app is awesome and so much fun. I cannot live without the hum toothbrush and will never buy another one unless it’s hum! Game changer! My toddler would fight and refuse I’d you brushed her teeth to the point she needed dental surgery at one point to put caps on the two front as they had cavities. This app has made it so she begs me to brush when she wakes up and goes to bed. Begs to brush after lunch. This is amazing!!!! Wow wow wow wow

My kid (5yo) has discovered that the app doesnt always reflect his effort. Sometimes it doesnt sense when he is brushing an area and so the teeth stay yellow which he finds frustrating. And then sometimes all he has to do is move the toothbrush handle in his mouth and wiggle if around for the app to think he is brushing. Additionally, the in app purchasing of things is a distraction. It would be really helpful if there was a setting to limit when gems could used. Day of the week? When a certain number of gems is reached? I dont know how much longer we will stick with this.

This is a must BUY! Especially for your kids that hate brushing teeth. My 4 year old dreaded brushing his teeth . Since we got this he tells us it’s time to brush his teeth. It turns brushing your teeth into a game with levels and different masks and diamonds you can unlock based on how well your child brushes. I can’t explain how happy I am with this app and tooth brush. I highly recommend it. It is beyond worth the money. Would rate 100 stars!

I loved this app so much until we got to the witch doctor themed filter level with the toothbrush through the head and a painted face. Not respectful to Indigenous people. These types of images are dehumanizing. We are Native American tribal members here in US and these images are harmful to my children. I emailed the support people at Colgate Palmolive Hum website asking them to remove that one filter level with the painted face and got a non-response. This is racist and offensive. Today my son refused to use the app because he didn’t want to see that image. I will stop recommending this toothbrush, app, and company to friends now based on this offensive content and horrible response I received from this company.

This is a great idea and it works pretty well for my 4 year old. He’s doing much more thorough brushing. The only issue we keep running into is we select a mask from the mask “store” screen when we first open the app, then when we go to brush for the day sometimes the mask we picked is there and sometimes it’s another mask from that “level.” My son gets frustrated the mask he picked doesn’t show and refuses to use the app when that happens.

This is a great concept and we were very excited to try it. Sadly, the screen portion of this not working. The game keeps claiming it cannot see the toothbrush when it is clearly in the frame. We have tried standing on a stool, moving back, adjusting the angle of the screen and still no luck. The electric toothbrush is nice but we were most excited about the game. Still hoping we can figure it out but may need to send back if we are not able to.

I got this app and toothbrush for my 7 yr old son and initially he was ecstatic about brushing. I have the app on my iPad and when the OS needed and update this all the information on this app seemed to have been wiped out. All the levels, masks, gems, points he had received were now gone. This completely upset my son and since he had to start all over now he doesn’t really want to brush his teeth using this app. I’m still trying to see if we can recover the info, but I think it’s a lost cause. Otherwise, the app and brush was a hit.

Facebook ad strikes again! I saw it and thought it would be a good solution for my son with ADHD. We tried the sand timer but he won’t use it unless I’m watching. Before he was brushing for less than 30 seconds. By gamifying brushing it also helps him get that dopamine he seeks. I love that I can see the areas he missed afterwards. It led me to discover that he struggles with the left side of his mouth because he is left handed. I was able to teach him how to turn his wrist to get that side better. He also said he didn’t know you were supposed to brush the back side of your teeth. I’m wondering if the app would work with any brush? Either way, this brush/app will undoubtedly make for a healthier mouth and save headaches at the dentist.

My kids loved this app and it genuinely helped with brushing until all of a sudden it stopped integrating with my camera and the option to give access to the camera isn’t there. I tried deleting and re-downloading the app but still doesn’t work and now is saying there’s an error in downloading. Is there an update that we can get or? I was planning on buying this for my other daughters and maybe even Christmas presents but…not until it’s fixed!!

Love the app my 5 yr old now loves to brush his teeth and earn diamonds for masks. I only have one problem we just ran into that I noticed this morning. He somehow has negative diamonds? The diamonds he earned this morning make the total of negative go down so it’s definitely in the negative. I’m just not sure how it happened because you can’t buy things when you don’t have enough diamonds.

Wow! This is more amazing than I expected. Getting my 3 year old boy to brush was a nightmare every night. He just wanted to eat the toothpaste off the toothbrush and look at himself dancing/making faces in the mirror. 😩 Since getting the Hum toothbrush and app, he actually asks to brush his teeth now! No arguments or struggles getting into the bathroom. He willingly starts brushing with the app/game and is SO excited to earn jewels and masks! Could not be happier with this purchase.

I loved using this with my kid. But ever since the new update, the camera option doesn’t work. It keeps telling me to go to settings and allow the camera. Only problem is, that option is not showing. Can you guys fix it so my kiddo can use it again? UPDATE: customer service chat is AMAZING! Deleting and reinstalling the app fixed the issue.

Brushing your teeth independently may be a major goal in my life, but some parts make it too addicting to use. ( 1. The music ) the music is so so (or too ) good that you want to hear it over and over again. )(2. The camera engine is partially broken.) for many kids, it works, but for ME? It just partially works. I can’t brush some of the augmented reality monsters in my teeth. ) (3. The three star system for scores is making you excited! ) when scoring all 3 stars I get too excited that I’m about to cry soon.) ( I am a 10 year old with autism!

This hum toothbrush is far more cooler than my kid’s current toothbrush! First of all, it is battery operated and the design is super cute, very kid-friendly! Secondly, you can connect it to your mobile phone by using an app and you can really find out if your kid miss a certain pot that needs extra care! How cool is that! Now I can monitor my kid’s brushing session all the time!

When we first starting using this app in January it worked great and was really helpful. But at some point the app was updated and since then it is not working. Even though my child is in view of the camera and it had been picking up her brush moments before, it will stop engaging with her brush in the middle of her session and she will not get credit for brushing that section of teeth. It’s super frustrating. She was getting 100% most of them time and now she is lucky to get 80%. Please fix this as it was such a great idea and we just upgraded to the electric brush too.

First off, my kids love this app. They enjoy brushing their teeth now and love trying to get rid of as many germs as they can. Biggest issue with the app is on the ipad the app has a hard time recognizing the toothbrush and their faces. The mask/hat jumps around and eventually disappears leaving kids and parents frustrated. Haven’t had any of the same issues when used on a phone. Overall it’s a good app to promote dental hygiene in kids and gets them excited for brushing their teeth.

The creators of this app this is a really good app five stars I hope to see more updates to this app and one thing I really want to see is a another world. I haven’t seen another world since the toy world and I really want to see another. Of what it could be is endless I really like to see that. maybe think about adding another one please.

My granddaughter loves brushing her teeth. She laughs as she destroys all the germs. We recommended this product to her pediatric doctor. We thought we share how great it has worked out for us and how much fun she has had with it. If your on the boarder about buying it….JUST DO IT! Your child will love it. It be a great gift as well for a parent to be to have when their child gets older.

My son has adhd so this makes him actually keep focus on brushing. However, he is looking forward to new levels because he has already gotten 3 stars on everything that’s there now. How do more levels show up? I thought maybe once he got all 3 stars on everything he would but no new levels yet ☹️

My 7 year old son LOVES this app. It has taught him how to brush his teeth and have fun while doing it! He now is pretty consistent with scoring 100% accuracy. I’ve told so many people, and dentists, about this app. He’s advanced to all of the levels and is eager for more levels to be added. Hopefully soon! He’s getting diamonds but has nothing left to purchase.

We bought the smart brush for our son about 3 weeks ago. At first it worked great. Then it started crashing mid brushing session about 1 out of every 3 times. Then it became every other time. Now, my son can’t complete a single brushing sessions without it crashing which leads to frustration and tears because he loses all the points/gems he’s earned. I tried reaching out to their customer support over a week ago but they did nothing but take my name and number and promise to call me back with a solution ASAP, which they have not done.

This app is fantastic! Such a game changer for my 5 year old! He is so excited to brush every day and actually does a GREAT job at it now too! We’ve been practicing occasionally without the app, as I’ve explained the app is to help teach you how to brush thoroughly so you can eventually brush well without it. He loves all the masks and will save up his gems to buy one, so great financial literacy built in! 😉 The only change I would make…. And it’s a biggie for me…. Update the app so the daily photos stay IN THE APP rather than downloading on my phone into my photo album. I literally have 100s of these photos 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Please please update this?????

One of the kids keeps losing his “diamonds” and progress (islands and masks), he’s bored earning the same mask over and over. The brushing history is there which is strange. It’s really hard to get him to buy in when he can’t actually earn or make progress. 3 days in and he’s about over it. Love the concept and it’s working great (5 stars) for one of the kids on our account. (We’re logged into the account on 2 devices, so whichever parent is helping can access).

Been struggling with proper brushing with my 4 year old for years. Found this via an ad in Instagram and ran to target to get it. She begs to brush her teeth now and the parent dashboard is so helpful on how I can best guide her brushing. She looks forward to it twice a day now when before she would dread brushing. We’re on day 3 and now I secretly want one for me 😂

Me as a working mom and a single mother there is one less fight in my house which is worth every penny. I love that my kid loves doing it. And is super excited when she gets a new world and new prizes. I can’t thank you enough for making this one less thing that we fight about and my kid loves brushing her teeth.

I have the hum kids for my 6 year old. He loves it! I does a good job teaching him where and how long to brush. I don’t understand buying new masks though. We’ve bought a couple but don’t know how to use them. Whenever he goes into his ‘world’ to brush he only gets the masks from that world. I also wish it would pause a couple times and tell them to spit in the sink.

My kids love it, and brushing frequency has increased, however I just tried to install it on my iPad so both kids can do it at the same time and there is no option to allow camera access. Probably and iOS issue and not an app issue, still frustrating however.

I help her do it but half the time it “can’t see the magic tooth brush” unless we brush at really awkward angles and it’s counterproductive sometimes. My little one does LOVE the app rewards and stuff and it’s gotten her to really get in and brush her teeth, just wish the toothbrush was designed to see the base easier. My four year olds instant reaction is to grab the bottom of the brush to brush her teeth, which is probably most kids.

We love the app my kid does so well brushing. My one complaint is that once you get through the worlds that’s it. No more new masks ,no new levels, brushes, teeth etc. because of this the desire to use it starts to go away. I have a feeling if there aren’t any updates to add more it will soon become a useless app for us.
